Amazing place! My boyfriend and I came to Myrtle Beach for a week-long vacation. At first, we booked a hotel down the street called the Bermuda Inn. After finding out how filthy that hotel was, we went on a hunt the very next morning to look for a place that wouldn't break the bank. Safe to say, we found the Aqua Beach Inn. The man at the front desk was VERY helpful; he even let us see the room beforehand and answered all of our questions, making the check-in process very fast. Since my friend and I were only in Myrtle Beach for the weekend, we chose to stay at Aqua Beach Inn because it was the best location for the price. Aqua Beach Inn is located a block away from Ocean Blvd. and is in walking distance of the beach, restaurants, bars and entertainment. The check-in process was quick and easy, which we appreciated since we arrived after 10pm. The front desk associate, Matthew, was very helpful and answered all of our questions about the area. The hotel lobby included seating areas and brochures of coupons, restaurants, stores and entertainment for visitors. The hotel also offered snacks and drinks for purchase which definitely came in handy. We booked a Double Queen room and it was nice, clean and spacious! The kitchenette area included a full size fridge, microwave and sink. Right outside of our room was the Free Fall Thrill Park which included a variety of rides and even though you could hear the people on the rides, it wasn't super loud or unbearable. Unfortunately, the housekeeping staff was a bit temperamental at times. When we called to ask for more towels, the lady seemed to have an attitude and didn't even bring a whole set of towels. Not sure how she thought we'd be able to shower without washcloths lol. Upon entering the lobby, it was decorated so cool! We we're greeted right away, by a friendly receptionist who checked us in very quickly. We requested a higher floor for a view of the ocean and Ferris wheel and we got it. The room was nice and clean with laminate flooring and the beds were very comfortable with four comfy pillows on each. Super soft sheets, too! Our room had a full kitchen in it including a coffee maker, an iron and luggage rack. We had a nice size balcony with a round table and two chairs. The bathroom was very clean with lots of towels. Maybe a little bit dated, but that didn't matter to us. We are very picky about places we like to stay when we're traveling and we don't like to pay a lot either. This place checked all the boxes for us. The best part is you're right in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach, where all the shops, restaurants and rides are. We had a suite, 2 beds, a full kitchen, a bathroom, and an amazing view from the balcony on the 11th floor. We only stayed 2 nights, and honestly, we loved the location. It's out of the way but still in the middle of all the action. There's a bar and grill right in front of the hotel so you don't have to go far for entertainment. Music is loud and invites party goers. The hotel has parking and it's free! There is extra parking if the parking is not available in front of the hotel. Also parking all around (parking meter) is available, and other paid parking. Check-in is exactly at 4 pm. No early check-ins because we asked if we could check in (around 2:50pm). Credit or cash is accepted as payment for security deposit. We paid (debit) $150, which takes about 2-10 days to receive the security deposit provided that the room is in acceptable conditions. Credit, debit, and cash are accepted. One rule for the room is that no seafood is allowed to be cooked in the room. It is understandable as it can stink up the place. You are also responsible for cleaning your own dishes, or additional charges will be added to your bill. There is a little sign by the sink that is posted to remind you of the responsibility. 4 pillows were provided for each of the beds, and the pillows were pretty great! Our room had a connected door to another room, so if you're traveling with kids, extra people and would like to stay together but still have your own space and privacy, check in with the front desk or call them (we checked the door and it was connected to another room, the door was locked from the other side). The only negative part of our stay here is the shower. There is not enough water pressure from the shower head to even enjoy a shower, I mean, it does the job, but still. Customer service was great, friendly, and fast check in, they even allowed us to use the restroom or use the pool until we were ready to check in (we only used the restroom). There's a mini market by the check-in counter, I'm talking about snacks and drinks only sold here. There are sitting areas inside the lobby, one elevator that takes you to all the floors, I think the 4th or 5th floor will have access to the laundry room. I paid about close to $460 (on Booking.com) and $150 for security deposit ( I will update on this one as i have not received it yet). We asked about a late checkout, and they said yes, we can checkout late, but with an extra charge, we checked out at 11am (which is the normal time to check out). I checked out at the front lobby, and it seems like all they need is your room number, drop off your key, and you are good to go and this was all word of mouth. No final receipt handed or anything to show you are "checked out." Would I recommend Aqua Beach Inn? Yes, it was a good experience for me. Would I stay here again? Yes. Enjoy your stay and have fun. 5 stars for the location and price ratio! Everything else is two stars for a two star hotel, three at best. There were some bad moments and some highlights as well. We had to try four different rooms before we could accept one with acceptable standard upon check in. The first room was not cleaned, as in beds not made, trash cans full, and towels all over the bathroom floor. The second room was absolutely stinking of smoke, it could seriously trigger someone's asthma. We stayed one night in the third room offered, this was an executive room upgrade on the 9th floor. In this room there is a door that says 'Employees Only' and at night it makes a really loud clanky sound noise every 15 minutes. I don't know if it's a boiler room, why would you put such a maintenance type of room inside a guest room? What were you thinking? It was impossible to sleep with this noise. Front desk was apologetic through all the room switching and were trying their best. The fourth room was also an executive room, this time on the eleventh floor. The ocean views are awesome! You can see the full ocean and gaze all the way to Portugal with only a little bit of imagination. You have a view of the beach, the sand dunes, the bustling life passing by on Ocean Boulevard and people walking by the sky high hotel buildings, giving a city by the ocean feel. There is a balcony with two chairs and a table where you can take all of this scenery in. It can get a little bit loud at night as you are close to some night life. The Beach Grill opposite the hotel is a big biker hangout and they like to make noise with their bikes. This was obviously the case during Bike Week. Not a big deal, as long as you can live with the noise until midnight. The room had plenty of space, some rooms have more sink counter space than others. The phone was not working. Two cereal bowls were very dirty. We were only given decaf coffee in the room. The fridge was set at minimum temperature. Don't know if housekeeping does this to save electricity, but a note to notify of that would have been nice. You get a full kitchenetre with stove, microwave, fridge and freezer, sink and all the cutlery for cooking and plates and utensils. The beds are super comfortable. Puts my bed at home to shame. Shower pressure is good. One of the towels had had faint black marks and another towel had a lump of hair in it. There is only one elevator, which at one time was not working. They really do need two elevators, but this is a maneagable minor detail. The lobby is partly renovated and still going through a renovation phase. At the moment the lobby has a somewhat empty and unfinished feel to it. There is tea/coffee available 24/7 in the lobby. I enjoyed just grabbing a cup and go straight to the beach in my flip flops. The hotel is not ocean front, you have to cross two streets to get to the beach and board walk. The first one is Withers alley, which hardly ever has any traffic and the second one is Ocean Blvd which has a lot of fun stuff. Traffic is slow, so no problem crossing, hotel to boardwalk is only a two minute walk. The outdoor pool is nice for a swim, 5'1 depth. The hot tub was indeed hot, but didn't look clean as I saw some bugs floating around in it. Pool towels, like in most hotels, are the size big enough to dry a 10-year old boy. They don't offer breakfast, which is fine with me because I like to bring my own healthier version. I was a bit annoyed about having to switch rooms so many times and felt like a Benny Hill clip rolling my bag between floors every 10 minutes. This organizational mess caused me to lose some valuable time at my long anticipated vacation destination. The staff are accommodating though and will try to make things right. But they need to review their cleaning system. If a room is smoky upon maid service checkout, make a note to not give it to customers until the smoke has been cleaned. If the maid didn't get a chance to clean a room yet, guests should not be checking in to that room. Overall, I enjoyed my stay a lot. I sent my wife and daughters to a beach getaway and they were met with a very insensitive front desk guy. He mocked and laughed about how my wife speaks in front of everyone that was in the front desk area. The lobby was full. To make matters worse..he did it twice. My loving and friendly wife has a slight speech impediment. She never spoke to the front desk again because she was so upset. The rest of the staff was fine. The location is close to everything. Upgrades are being made, but are not done yet. I spoke to the female manager today and she stated that she would address the situation and proceeded to ask "why didn't your wife address it to a manager while she was here?". I made it clear that my wife was too embarrassed and upset at that point. Her employees comments and mocking ruined my families weekend. I'll give this hotel 4 stars for the location which is across the street within walking distance of the beach and in the middle of various restaurants and attractions. ***The front desk clerk Anna was very nice, professional and patient. So far, I've only stayed one night & endured enough f!ckery to begin writing this review so it may change. We booked this hotel not even 2 weeks ago, it was the only hotel near the beach that wasn't sold out. The reviews on TripAdvisor were decent so despite the inflated price for a Myrtle Beach hotel we decided to give it a go. We should've filtered the results and checked Yelp before proceeding but that's neither here nor there at this point. I arrived a few hours earlier than my friend (she booked the room) and a few hours before normal check in time hoping that our room would be available early however, it wasn't so I decided to walk around to check out the scenery. Normal check in time is 4pm. I don't recall what time I was given keys to the first room but it was a little after 4. Upon entering the first room, I immediately noticed that it hadn't been cleaned. The bed wasn't made up, the trash in the bathroom hadn't been emptied and there were dirty towels still on the bathroom floor, just trifling & disgusting! I immediately went down to inform the staff at the front desk. The employee seemed bewildered & in disbelief (girl please ) and went to check the room. Upon her return she told me that I'd have to wait another 30-45 mins for housekeeping to clean another room. While waiting in the lobby I overheard employees in the back yelling and cursing damn near on the verge of going to blows. By this time it was going on 5pm and my friend was on her way. The front desk mentioned that they would offer a discount for the first night's stay, the discount was only $35. Around 5:30, an hour and a half after normal check in time I was given keys to another room. The rooms need updating but the balcony view is decent as it faces the beach and you can see the muddy ocean. The windows are very cloudy and could stand to be thoroughly cleaned. My friend sprayed down EVERYTHING from the door knobs, remotes, ligh to the bed with disinfectant spray The couch and chairs are filthy (you can see the dirt) and needs to be cleaned like with a cleaning extractor. We had our room keys replaced 3-4x. Do not put the keys near your phone or other cards or it will demagnetize. There was a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave and 2 burner stovetop which is a plus. The bed was comfortable. The Wifi does not work with the Roku TV because they're currently switching services or routers etc. but it will work on mobile phones and tablets. They do not offer breakfast, there's no restaurant on site but there are plenty within walking distance. The pool goes up to 5 1/2 feet & there's also a 3ft hot tub. Pool opens around 9/9:30am. It's our last day and here are a few things to consider when traveling / staying in hotels. Check the towels and linen to ensure they're actually clean. We had to request a new set of towels in addition to toilet paper. Bring your own! This includes linens (blankets, pillow cases, wash cloths, towels). Bring a can of disinfectant spray or wipes and cleaning spray to clean the bathtub / shower yourself - wear shower shoes if you choose not to clean the tub / shower. Overall I enjoyed the trip, not so much the accommodations but that's what happens when you book last minute. Lesson learned. read more

Hotel lobby has a kitschy feel. Rooms, not so much. Room was clean but not updated. Temperature control functioned, beds and pillows were decent. Water was hot. Coffee sucked. We spotted three roaches during our stay - one close to the beds on the nightstand and two in the area of the kitchenette. The floor our room was on reeked of weed. It was so bad a police k9 would have had a seizure. The wifi never worked. At all. So if you need wifi for something go to a coffee shop. We had booked a stay here for Early July. Then an unexpected hurricane decided to make its way up the coast about a week before we were going to be there bringing tornadoes and heavy storms the week we were to arrive. We ended up cancelling our reservation due to avoid any risk to any of us. They refused to refund our deposit of $200 and said it's just a storm even tho a tornado even touched down. I tried calling a manager several times but of course they were unavailable. Be careful booking there and be careful with Expedia as it said Free Cancellations !! Worst hotel I have ever been to. Out of the 4 nights that we stayed our room was only cleaned once (the first night only). The staff is lazy and will make you bring down your own dirty towels after they neglect to clean your room. The front desk receptionist will REFUSE to check you in until exactly 3 o'clock. It does not matter if you called them in advance to notify them that you have been driving for 15 hours and that an earlier check in would be appreciated.. (FYI for fellow travelers: a decent hotel with well trained staff will take note when a guest informs them of an earlier arrival to ensure that their room is at least somewhat ready - that is the point of being in the hospitality business) Instead the receptionist will sit there and aggressively argue with paying customers as to why you can't check in at 2:42pm after a 15 hour drive even after calling with advance notice of arrival. This place fails in all aspects and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Instead of relaxing on our getaway, we had to constantly be on top of THEM to perform their basic jobs.. like checking us in, getting clean towels, and having our rooms cleaned. The hotel smells like mold and I'm honestly surprised by how awful this entire place has been. If I can pick another hotel I would never stay here.. all the hotels around are within the same price range. We booked last minute through Groupon and it mentioned the lobby was under renovation. We didn't think we would mind as it had a pool/hot tub and was less than a 5 min walk to the beach. HORRIBLE MISTAKE The staff is amazing - so helpful but the lobby was closed half the time we were there, the pool was closed w out notice, the top few floors had no water, etc. Our room wasn't cleaned well, I requested multiple times to have things fixed and it wasn't. Everyone I spoke to was super nice, but no one does anything. This was our first time staying at Aqua Beach Inn and we will definitely make this our go-to hotel in Myrtle Beach when we come back. The hotel is completely remodeled with really cool areas set up in the foyer for Instagram worthy pics. Our room was very reasonably priced, super clean, spacious (our room had an extra sitting area as you enter - with a loveseat and chair) and what an incredible view from every floor! Fully functioning kitchen area was great as we could quickly prepare meals for the kids or heat up left overs from our dinner out the night before. The staff was very helpful and friendly greeting us everyday and providing directions/advice on attractions. Best location too ... one block from the sand and the SkyWheel with restaurants and shops across the street. We never had to use our rental car! read more

The beds were comfy, the rooms were clean, the bathroom was great and the staff were friendly. Easy 2 block walk to the beach and a few blocks to all the attractions, restaurants and shops. We stayed for 3 days and it was very relaxing... Didn't have to deal with kids running around due to it having a 25 yr old minimum check in age. (You do have to walk down a bit since its a dock with no swimming.) Few dinning places within walking distance. Cons: parking is funky. If you don't get a spot in the main parking lot you have to park in overflow area. No breakfast (but you have a kitchen area!! :) ) Floors do get slippery from those leaving the pool. Worst experience ever! Would not let us check in early, even 5 minutes early. Hotel staff is extremely rude. Room was quite run down, and found mold in the bathroom. Their site advertised $63 for the night, but ended up paying over $100 after taxes, fees, and "service fee". None of these fees were disclosed on their website! Great hotel, great location! This is a nice location, one block off the boardwalk and maybe a minute walk to the pier and beach... But each room has an ocean view. Walking distance to many stores, gift shops, restaurants, and attractions. Really nice to have the kitchenette in the room with the larger fridge and microwave. We didn't do any "cooking" but you have all the tools you need if you wanted too... Which is a great money saver. Room was clean and in nice shape. Bed was very comfortable. Room service came daily... Got clean towels and sheets. Front desk people were nice. I can see having only one elevator being a problem when the hotel is booked up, we didn't have this issue. This hotel doesn't really have any "frills" other than the pool/hot tub (which we couldn't use due to weather) so if you're expecting breakfast, gym, water slides and the like... This isn't the hotel for you. We wouldn't have even noticed if we weren't there when it rained everyday. All in all we enjoyed our stay and look forward to our next trip! read more

Where to start.... When my daughter & I first checked in the room they gave us & was so gross, not cleaned, the bathroom smelled so bad of urine and the a.c was also not working right. I went to the front desk and asked for another room the staff was really nice about it! When we entered our new room you can tell it was remodeled. But even at that the bathroom still had a smell the a.c was so loud and the shower barley pushed out water Only a good thing was the ocean view. Aqua Beach Inn is a hidden gem among the endless resorts in Myrtle Beach. My company books several rooms per week for work in Myrtle Beach and above all else we just want a clean room with good service. Before finding the Aqua Beach Inn this was easier said than done. The staff is always extremely friendly and when you need to reserve a room they answer quickly every time. The general manger personally greets us every time she is there and makes sure we're enjoying our stay. The rooms are so much cleaner than the other resort we've tried and I mean I have tried A LOT. The location is awesome. One block from the ocean and from most rooms you can see the ocean from the room. Awesome view of the sky wheel too! The prices are extremely fair for the quality of service, cleanliness, and location. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Location is pretty much what this hotel has going for them! Bedsheets and towels should have been changed in 2016. The pool towels are toddler sized. I can see that they are trying with some cool lobby decor...but much is needed. If you are not lucky enough to park on site you can get the overflow parking a few yards behind the hotel and the waste dump that seriously stinks and should be visites by sanitation officials ASAP. Don't expect much but it is clean and close to boardwalk! Staff is friendly although not very knowledgeable. No house keeping service on day one (seems they forgot....) read more

The room was clean, location was ideal, and the view was great. My only issue is: my family and I got charged random miscellaneous fees after we had checked out. We did not leave the place a mess and we did not break anything. We took before and after pictures and provided them to the front desk to figure out why we were charged and were not given a straightforward answer. I am writing to say how disappointed I am in how you handled my cancellation to this upcoming hurricane. I tried to cancel yesterday due to the news of SC being in a state of emergency and I was told I would be charged a days price if I cancelled. Since it was weather related I did expect you to work with me. Then today I called again to try and speak to someone and they said they received the evacuation alert but since I cancelled yesterday I will still be charged the one day fee. All the events that I had planned during our trip did not give us a moments notice on cancelling and receiving a full refund. This place has great reviews on TripAdvisor. Maybe it's the best in the area of not-so-great. I'll clean up my review now that I finished my trip. I stayed there 4 days. The Front Desk The front desk staff were a little slow with check-in but they're nice ladies, though. You can get more towels and toiletries at the front desk. Check out was fast, too. The Room The room itself is spacey and clean. The bathroom looks remodeled and the sheets and comforter look and feel similar to a Hampton Inn or Courtyard Marriott. The water pressure is good. The toiletries smell good. All rooms come with a kitchenette that also looks modern and has dishes and utensils. I heard you get charged if they aren't cleaned though, even a glass. They have full fridges so you can load up on groceries but the only trash in the small one in the bathroom. I think our room neighbors some hicks or teens, but I only heard them talking for about ten minutes. Maybe if we put a towel down by the divider it may help. They tried to open our connected door a few times. Jerks. There are a lot of reckless teenage boys here this week. The room decor seems nice. The TV is a little small though and not placed central to the bed. The "Ocean Facing View" There is a balcony and you can see the ocean. By ocean view I think it meant ocean facing. Yes, all 60 guest rooms face the ocean, however most of the view I see is of buildings across the street but the low rises allow you to see some ocean. I get a gross view of the trash from the building in front and the roar of the air conditioner units causing extra heat. The Atmosphere At night there is a lot of noise outside until about 1AM because of the amusement rides, but the noise drops down considerably afterwards, but I'm here on a weekday. The area is densely populated. I didn't realize that when I made the reservation. This is definitely not the remote area I was thinking it could be. The Rate I actually am here on a Living Social travel deal for $99/night but didn't realize there is an add on resort fee that comes to about $42 every two days. The Free Internet Ah yes, and the spotty Internet connection leaves much to be desired. Tethering my phone is the best way to go here. The Elevator Another big downside is although I am at the end of the hall, I can still hear the murmur of the elevator every time it's in use. The walls aren't thick. Also, don't plan on using the elevator much. Since there is only one and 11 floors of people with 60 guest rooms, it won't be of use. Maids and guests alike share this so forget about it in the morning. The "Minimal" Maid Service On day two I noticed the maid service did a minimal job. They made the bed and put some towels together in the bathroom. I'm not sure what else. They didn't clean the toilet, sink surface or shower. They didn't vacuum. There were no new toiletries, still some trash, like the soap wrapper not thrown away and the tub had dirty cloths in it. I guess you have to make it super obvious if you want them to change your towels. To get them to change the towels I had to pile them all in a heap outside my door. Otherwise, they'll leave them hanging, crumbled, whatever. They'll leave trash left on the tub unless you throw it away yourself in the one trash can. On the fourth day I finally asked the maid if she'll clean the toliets and the shower, and if she'd vaccum. She said if they really need it she can. So keep in mind this is not standard to clean your toilets and showers. Also, they may forget to give you a full towel load. The last night we washed ourselves with hand towels because they never gave us wash cloths. The Grounds The grounds of the area aren't well maintained. My boyfriend stepped into a shard of glass washing his feet by the pool. There is a trash smell from the dumpsters behind the buildings near the overflow parking and people also leave trash everywhere. The location is in walking distance of many things, though. SOME HINTS Here are some hints if you stay here to enhance your experience. 1. Get an end unit room on the South side. Better view. 2. Leave a message if you want towels changed, toilet cleaned, tub cleaned, or any other service you may think should come with the room. 3. Wear sandals when washing your feet by the pool. 4. Run your AC to muffle the elevator. 5. Get a higher room to avoid elevator sounds but you need to be ok waiting awhile for the elevator or really like stairs; otherwise get an room lower down and don't depend on the elevator. 6. Know that this is a densely populated area with a lot of junk food and smoking, and trash, and be ok with that. 7. Wash all kitchen stuff thoroughly. 8. Keep in mind the resort fee. 9. Worst Hotel at the beach. You get what you pay for here. The loudest elevator in the world is inside this high rise dump, if you get a room near it, good luck sleeping. Switched rooms and then the walls are so thin here that you can hear your neighbors cooking and breathing. PLus right below you is the Beachhouse where bikers roar their engines until 2am. The staff seemed to just all be hired and was clueless. They couldn't even locate a lightbulb or do not disturb sign. With 500 hotels on Myrtle Beach, run away from this hole in the wall and get something away from this stretch of the beach. read more
