August 2023 Gate B4
Laura C.

The staff at Southwest went above and beyond to help me secure an extra seat for my extremely wide hips. I'm built like a triangle. Props to Sebastin and Oscar at check-in and Marie at the gate in MacArthur. Also a shout out to Frances at the gate in Baltimore, a long time emoyee. And to Eric at check-in in Myrtle Beach aiport. The staff I meet along my journey put me the customer first, so refreshing.

If you have an important business meeting or a time-sensitive event, consider using a different airline, or leave ample time in case flights are delayed or cancelled. I've flown Spirit Airlines quite a few times, always a direct flight, and have been on time more than not. Also, each flight, no matter how lengthy the delay, departed and arrived safely. To keep prices low, Spirit charges for amenities that most other airlines include, like baggage and water. Again, it is the Greyhound of the skies. Repeat like a mantra when things go awry. The most important part of making the Spirit Airlines adventure go as smoothly as possible is to book everything in advance. Everything, if you can. I pay for a seat, and I usually pay for a carryon. Use their App, and do as much as you can electronically. The fewer people you have to interact with, the better. Pro tip: in addition to the Spirit Airlines app, download the FlightAware app before your trip. This super handy app shows you the location of any plane, anywhere. It knows where your plane is, even if the Spirit Airlines employees do not, or decline to tell you.

Myrtle Beach Direct Air Worst Ever -…read more 1. Was told after booking that we had to pay extra (each way) to have my 8yr old sit next to me. When we boarded they moved our seats to the rear of the craft, they rudely explained, due to a plane change just prior to our departure. 2. Pay Extra for luggage (each way) - They damaged and haven't replied even though I followed verbatim customer service protocol, (immediate visit to one of their representatives in the airport, filled out forms, took pictures, emailed and mailed their forms). 3. Flight was late arriving in Sanford, Florida I fully understand travel hiccups & human error, however total disregard of customer service in the simplest form makes no sense.

Direct Air is a private airline that flies a few select vacation destinations from a handful of…read moresmall airports is less vacationy areas. One of those airports (Worcester) is conveniently close to where I live and one of the destinations is a place I fly to often to visit friends and family (West Palm Beach), and since flights are Thursday evenings out and Sunday evenings back, direct, and affordable, why wouldn't I choose this airline? So I conspired with my best friend's husband months in advance for the only weekend that worked for both of us and hatched a secret plan to visit her and their new baby. I wrangled up my Florida friends for a grand surprise and booked a round trip convenient flight for a price I could actually afford. Life was so very very grand. Until I got the voice-mail. Something had "changed" with my flight, please call... And then I called. Flight cancelled. It's in TWO WEEKS. Cancelled. No other flights. They could get me on a flight a few weeks away or I could have a refund. Now, of course, it's too late to get any affordable flights anywhere else (yes I've looked) and what I can afford are flights with many many transfers, which is not doable for a weekend. The rep at Direct Air was unsympathetic, unwilling to do anything else to try and help me, and kind of rude. She seemed annoyed that I had the gall to be upset. Days later I still haven't seen my refund and when I called I was told they're working on it. How long does it take to process a credit card transaction? They should have done that immediately on the phone. Direct Air is too good to be true. Don't take the risk unless you can afford to shell out big bucks to make alternate plans at the last minute. Just... don't.
