Find out a few days later they have filed a claim with our insurance for an accident that never happened. Our insurance contact said it happens all the time with this company. Beware, they file false claims and commit insurance fraud. What a terrible experience. Booked a very specific car (luxury) for my family 6 months in advance of picking it up. When I went to the counter, they had rented my car away because I was a few hours late picking it up. Ummm...it's an airport - delays happen! They did not call to confirm if I was coming, did not send an email, etc. Literally zero communication - instead, they just rented it to another person. To make matters worse, they had NO cars. NOTHING. I couldn't rent from them if I wanted to. I was literally stranded at the airport with my husband and 3 year old at 9PM with no way to get anywhere. I should have read these reviews before booking because they are SPOT ON. Stacy at the counter was so incredibly rude with zero care in the world that every single company there were out of cars. Said she had nothing to give me for my family, even though we paid in full 6 months before the date we were there. Utterly disgusted with their lack of professionalism or compassion. Lastly, I spoke with someone from one of the other rental companies. He felt terrible for us but like I previously stated, no company had any cars left. He did tell me that Hertz does this ALL the time, and has not tried to remedy it at all. He mentioned that every other company is not only cheaper than Hertz, but holds your reservation for 24 hours without giving your car away whereas Hertz will hold it for 1-2 hours. We booked a reservation for 4pm our plane + bags put us at like 5:30 to pickup the car. We went to the desk for our reservation and they said it would be 2-3 hours. We asked if they could give us a discount because that would be 3-4 hours past the original pickup time. They said they couldn't do anything. Hertz Presidents Club Gold Member treated unprofessionally. I travel extensively for work, a professional, frequent traveler. I arrived at MYR (Myrtle Beach Airport) asked where the Gold pickup was and was told "we don't do that". So, I approached the desk and presented ID as requested, like a standard renter. No big deal. The agent asked who my insurance company was and I didn't know because I drive a company car. (I later found out the name.) I said that my Amex platinum covers insurance anyway and he replied" we dont take credit card insurance". However, it wasn't a matter of what they would "take" but of whether there was coverage. I informed him that the rental company doesn't dictate what the card will cover. That's up to the credit card company. He got all fluxed apparently, and said "I'm not giving you a car. Next person in line". Now what was I supposed to do? A testy agent can personally decide to cancel a Hertz reservation on me? And this is to Hertz best customers, the Presidents Club renters. Frantically, I tried to find another car and couldn't. I went back to the counter, sort of begged and he conceded but of course charged me insurance. This is unbecoming of any car rental company, especially Hertz. Someone with that attitude and demeanor should not be interacting with customers. I am very disappointed with my experience with Hertz at the Myrtle Beach airport. I had pre-paid for my reservation weeks before my trip, only to find when I went to pick it up that firstly, they had rented away the car I had reserved, because I was a few hours late picking it up. The car had already been paid for in full! It should not matter if I was late in picking it up, especially in an airport setting where delays are common. Secondly, because I had paid using a debit card, I would have to pay an additional $40 per day for insurance, unless I could confirm with my insurance company (over the phone, they would not accept my policy documents as proof) that I had full coverage. My insurance company had already closed for the day, so I was forced into purchasing theirs for the full week I was renting the car. The next day, we had to travel all the way back to the airport to prove that I was insured, which was obviously a hassle... It then took another 5 days to issue the refund of nearly $300 to my card. Today, I was charged another $100 because I was in a rush to return the car and didn't top off the gas tank... $100 for a third of a tank of gas. I feel like I got scammed. read more

I found out today that my husband is permanently banned from renting through GSP Hertz locations due to speeding while using one of their rental cars. What?!?! Either throttle the speed on vehicles at 80mph, inform customers verbally of the policy upon vehicle pickup, or offer a warning (or something... anything). I rented a 2025 Jeep compass from the Hertz at Jetport Road. It had just over 4000 miles on it. I told them that I was going to Orlando Florida and they convinced me to get roadside assistance on it. I did. Once I arrived in Orlando, Florida, the rental car broke down on me. It would not start and the check engine light was on. I was able to get it started eventually, and it went for a short distance and shut off again. When I contacted the roadside assistance number, they asked me if I felt comfortable driving it, and I told them that it was not going anywhere. they reached out to Hertz who told them that I was welcome to come to the Orlando airport and open a new contract. I told them that this was a rental car under the Myrtle Beach location and that I thought the cost for me to get a new rental would be covered in my contract. I was told that the Orlando airport could not honor the Myrtle Beach contract. So with the car being towed to the Orlando airport to assess the damages, I was stuck without transportation. 500 miles away from home and no rental. Thankfully, I had friends that were able to come to my assistance. But I had three others with me, and had to make arrangements for them. This was the worst experience of my life because Hertz would not even give me my deposit back until the damages were assessed. Implying that I could be the reason the car was having problems. I asked how long it would take to get the damages assessed and I was told they did not know. Nobody was of any assistance to me. And now it's several days later and I was told that I could call back and talk to the regional manager who has not been assessable yet. I have tried calling several times and one time spoke with someone who told me that she was in a meeting, another time somebody put me on hold for in excess of 15 minutes. Then I tried calling back two more times and nobody answered. I called back another time and did not receive an answer. This issue is still not resolved. I will never rent from them again. I should have been told that this was a franchise company and that if something happened with the vehicle, I would not be able to get a replacement. Worst experience of my life! read more

Worst rental car facility in America. Yes, I understand that is a bold statement but I rent cars regularly and never been left stranded. Traveling on business with event requiring me to have use of a car. Noticed before renting that the location listed their hours as closing at midnight. I called the actual location before renting and asked about process of plane arrives late and was specifically informed that they wait at least 30 minutes after last flight before closing. My plane was delayed and we arrived at 12:20. I went straight to the rental counter before even claiming my bags. Avis was still there. National was still there. Thrifty was still there. Enterprise was still there. Hertz had closed down. In fact, the person at National told me they had closed down at least an hour before! Called toll free number for Hertz. Mel was very nice but nothing could be done to remedy this situation. Stranded with no car, my family and I took an expensive Uber and I will proceed with my work engagement with far more difficulty than if Hertz had simply done what they said they do. Reserved a car weeks ago. Prepaid most of the car fee. Credit card was hacked afterwards. Stepped up got the counter, they not only didn't have the car I reserved but then they absolutely refused me service because I had a new credit card. Didn't matter that I'd prepaid part of it. Didn't matter that I had a brand new credit card. Left my 7 year old daughter in tears because she thought we wouldn't be able to leave the airport. Myrtle Beach Hertz at the Myrtle Beach International airport refused to refund a full day rental fee for Friday Sept 30th during hurricane Ian. Their office was closed and voicemail full. There was no way we could return the car on the day we agreed on. We followed the late return policy by notifying them the next day about keeping the car until Sunday when their phones were back up. Billing people during a weather emergency with no recourse is likely illegal and shows their lack of concern for safety and good customer service. It would have been so easy to simply do the right thing and waive the rental fee for Friday while their business was closed due to the weather. We also saved them money by moving their rental car out of harms way when the hotel parking lot started flooding where we parked. Update: we quickly won the CC dispute by stating the facts and description of Hertz poor customer service along with the logistical impossibility of returning a car when they were closed due to the hurricane. The CC company refunded us, but now Hertz is sending our bill to collections in an attempt to claw back the money we no longer owe them. Sore losers and demonstrates their complete failure to retain long term customers. We'll never use Hertz again. We should have checked the reviews first! read more

Not to self, (and a warning for anyone listening) I will never EVER get a rental car from Hertz again. Arrived in Myrtle Beach yesterday and got a real jem of a rental! A Chevy Cruze with almost 50,000 miles, scratches and dents all over it, food stains on headliner, seats and looked as if it was wiped down with a greasy dish rag! I can't even see out the back window. Went back into complain and of course they had no other vehicles available. Checked with Enterprise, Avis, Budget and Alamo and no one had any availability on a vehicle. The closest rental location that had a vehicle available was over an hour away and we could not return it to the airport when leaving! So we now have a beautiful white greasy pile of crap to drive, that get this, has a Highway speed wheel shake due to tires being out of balance! Left rear tire has a plug right on the outside edge of tire, which would be totally illegal where I come from, cause it could cause a highway speed blowout! This car belongs on a used car lot at best, not a front line rental for $450 for four days! Of course you guys don't allow any pictures, because I have a bunch of this beauty. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, your company shouldn't even be allowed to rent vehicles at an airport! Ps. There was no Golden Seal Standard sticker on the door, after the manager went to look at the vehicle and I returned...poof, it magically appeared! read more

We flew to Myrtle Beach for vacation and rented a car from Hertz at the airport. Within 2 days Hurricane Debby was heading right at our Airbnb. We had no idea of the severity of the storm before we left, and the first flight back was 5 days away. Given the warnings we decided to drive back home (even Walmart closed). We called Hertz and talked to a representative - little did we know that Myrtle Beach Hertz is privately owned and the number online is corporate. The gentleman we talked to said that it was ok for us to drive the car back home - we figured it was better for Hertz to have a functional car than one under water. We drove home stopping along the way. We filled up the car returned it to the Airport we flew out from. We got home thinking everything was fine. We then got an email from the Myrtle Beach Hertz saying their car was overdue, and because we didn't drop it off at their location they started adding on fees to the tune of $1,600.00 (I wish it flooded). We contacted Hertz Corporate, but because the Myrtle Beach Hertz location is privately owned there is nothing they could do. We tried to do the right thing by them and us. I thought the Myrtle Beach location would be happy one of their cars wouldn't be under water. I will never use Hertz again, and I advise you to do the same. Nothing like sticking it to customers that are stressed out and concerned with the welfare of their family. Why would anyone deal with a business like this. It makes Hertz look really bad. read more

If it was possible to give this place zero stars I would. We waited in line for over a half hour waiting for a pre-paid rental car. It does pay to be a gold member! I will truly consider it for the next trip we have to rent a car. I felt sorry for the poor guy at the desk, working alone with eight or nine people waiting for a pre-paid car. Then if a gold member comes to the desk, you have to wait. That took even longer. If they know how many are coming in and at what time for a pre-paid reservation they should have someone taking pre-paid and one for gold members and a counter person for everyone else. Horrible customer service experience at Hertz Myrtle Beach International Airport!! We had a vehicle reserved with Hertz at the Myrtle Beach international airport and were unable to rent the vehicle because their new scanner could not read our license. We asked about a possible human override (our licenses were valid) or other solution to this problem. the attendant said there was nothing he could do. I explained that we just rented with Hertz in April in Memphis and his response was that the Myrtle Beach international airport Hertz is a franchise and has different requirements. I asked for a manager, he didn't have one! I asked for information regarding how to file a complain, he didn't know. His solution was to try another rental car company!! He not only lost that rental but we will Never rent from Hertz again!!! We proceeded to Budget, and Ian went out of his way to accommodate us since we Didn't have a reservation!! We ended up with a very nice car at less than what it would have cost at Hertz! I am a Budget rental fan from now on. Our family walked up with a couple just walking up to the counter. One agent started helping the couple and we waiting first in line. Over then next 20 minutes the line got long and a second agent came out. A woman walked around the line and proceeded to make a scene because "she had a reservation", we all did. The second agent, Ebony helped her. They proceeded to both help another person who walked around the line. A third person would occasionally come out and assist the other two then go in the back and nobody addressed the line. After almost a half an hour at the front of the line we were helped in a very rude manner. Almost as if Ebony wanted to show she would have no issue being rude she started off by repeatedly asking if I had a reservation and my name. She could clearly hear me. When I asked why they had helped others who walked around the line she said it was none of my business and I should go rent from someone else if I didn't like it. It was if she wanted me to start something. I remained calm and she proceeded to ask if I had a reservation and my name again even though she had already looked it up. I even offered the reservation number but she seemed to want to make things difficult. When done she mumbled where to get the car and when I inquired if it was to the left or right she just called the next person in line and acted like I didn't exist. Meanwhile, the first couple was still having issues and was still being helped by the first agent. I rent from Hertz to avoid the lines and go straight to a car. It isn't available here and you definitely don't want to be in their lines. We did get our car and it was nice but did not need the rude behavior from their customer service agent. The gentleman checking me in was phenomenal. It all went downhill after returning the car. Here's the story: I paid $300 est. per day for the car. The car was returned two hours late due to a leaking tire pressure that was identified about 5 miles into my trip. It was no issue, i just used my own funds (minimal amount) to air the tire up multiple times. I was unfortunately late to my business meeting because of this which resulted in returning the car about 1.5 hours late. When returning the car I told the gentleman the situation and he stated I will not be billed but should have contacted roadside assistance. Well I tried to contact roadside assistance but I was on hold for over 45 minutes so decided to take matters into my own hands. The two hour late fee was roughly $175. Here's where things are absolutely concerning: I called for about two weeks trying to reach the manager because apparently no one else can process refunds. The agents I spoke with all told me I would not be refunded and that I would be essentially wasting my time trying to reach the manager. After blowing up voicemail and phone, I spoke with Jessica Cuipylo the area manager. Jessica heard my story but was extremely rude and stated I should have called road side assistance. I explained the same story to her as I wrote above explaining the situation. She stated I would not be receiving a refund for being 2 hours late and the damages were not Hertz issue because the car was in perfect condition when I picked it up. Which it was not, it had a low tire pressure light when I drove off, (but who actually checks this in todays vehicles if it is a reasonable amount of pressure in the tire according to the dash gauge). Anyways, after talking with her for about 3 minutes which she not once apologized for my situation, she said we are just going to have to agree to disagree because I am not removing the charge so I hung up the phone on her. Nice? Absolutely not, but nothing was going to get resolved with her. Six years of being a hertz customer and these franchises do whatever they want. They charge absorbent fees to rent the car and their customer service is beyond awful. On top of that, I traveled to Charleston this week and arrived at 1:00 AM to the hertz counter. After sitting in line for about 45 minutes, I was told I am no longer allowed to rent from this franchise (myrtle beach & charleston area) because Jessica placed me on a DNR list for being abusive to agents. To top it off, I called Hertz corporate and they say I am not on a DNR list. Well, this goes to show these franchises do whatever they want. They don't accept points for rentals, they don't provide good customer service, and their fees are much higher than corporate locations. Off to enterprise and national I go. I'll take my 20-25 yearly rentals to any company but Hertz because of the franchise setup as well as how Jessica Cuipylo treated me as a customer. read more

Let me start by saying that I am a Hertz Gold member (well, my wife is) so I can't say enough good things about the ease of picking up a car when we arrive at our destination. This time was no different, we were on our way to our car in about 5 minutes after getting to the Hertz counter. The car we got, a Dodge Avenger, was kind of crappy, but I wasn't in Myrtle to impress anyone with my rental. It didn't have a whole lot of pickup and it wasn't the cleanest car I'd ever rented, but it got us around town for a week on less than 3/4 of a tank of gas. Drop off was pretty quick, except I had to show the guy how to read the mileage. No line at all. Here's where they dropped a star...when I got my bill three days later (online) there was a $115 charge for fuel on my bill even though I returned it full. They took care of it when I called, but that's not the point...shouldn't have been there in the first place. There was also a concession fee and a customer facility fee. Apparently they were on the original reservation, but they amounted to like $58. That's not cool... read more

I have rented vehicles from this site a few times while on business and I think it's an absolute breeze to get through. It's directly across from baggage claim and the cars are all located in the adjacent lot. No shuttles and endless escalators to secure your ride. I suggest running across to get the keys to your car and then returning to get your bags. You will beat the masses and I always end up waiting for my bags. When we arrived we were told by the lady working there it would be an additional $200 , plus an additional $15 a day plus this and that etc..almost $600 to rent a cheap Kia for 4 and a half days!! We went to Hertz and the young man working the counter this last Saturday morning was SO helpful, polite and professional. He rented us a 2019 Kia with less than 4000k miles on it for $288 ! WE WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERTZ NOW! If you are renting from other companies you are wasting your money. The helpful young man is truly an asset to this company. Wow. My experience was less than humane. CARMEN yelled at me diagonally across the counter and called me a liar while she was helping her customer. I was speaking to Kelvin about how she helped another couple who came way after me and I had been waiting in another line and was up next.Carmen told me to go to the end of the other line even though she knew i had been there before all of time. She also yelled at me and said I was rude. I mentioned i had the order with the price I was supposed to pay and Corporate (Dara) was on the phone and wanted to speak with the counter. Kelvin shouted "we dont have anything to do with corporate." He also told Oren "just do whatever you can to get her out of here!"Oren said to Kelvin "her invoice from Corporate was only $4 less than the charge of the franchise. So I called Oren on it and said that is a lot of money when lets say 1000 more customers are added to that mis charge of $4. BTW, Oren said when asked what is the persons name who was yelling at me calling me a liar he replied: " she doesnt have a name" Carmen volunteered her name. I dont have words for this however the entire event was heard by corporate and they have it on their recorded line. Dara assured me this was escalated and they will be having a surprise visit. Fortunately Dara stayed on the phone with me until I went into my vehicle. I was ganged up on and felt unsafe and was around dishonesty and inhumane treatment. I was told upon pick up to sign the paper demonstrating nothing wrong with the car and if there is to call right away and report it. " We will pick up " the lady said Orwin said we were busy. When I said I was just calling from right outside the door as i have my whole family with me and no one picked up. No one is here. How can you say you were busy? This is inhumane treatment and clearly there are issues with integrity. Carmen who is clearly inappropriate and dishonest (rewind the cameras) it will prove it and Oren have no integrity and dodge the truth. They should NOT be representing Hertz rental car nor their customers. Kelvin eventually dialed it down so i give him props. We are loyal to Hertz and pray this victimization of a mom with little ones who had a flat tire hence the reason we were there to rent the car, never happens again to others. We made a reservation through USAA several hours prior to pick up. We got there around 7:30pm, there were no lines and no wait. The customer service agent at the counter gave us exactly what we had reserved. It took about 10-15 mins to fill out the paper work and the agent answered all of our questions promptly. Shortly afterwards we were on our way. It was a quick, hassle free and friendly trip! If you don't have USAA, they offer a discount for military/veteran folks. Highly recommend. read more

It's a simple location at the Myrtle Beach airport but has restricted hours for pick up and drop off. I did not pick up the Hertz rental in Myrtle Beach. My flight was the first flight out to ATL. The drop off policy was to leave the car at certain marked spots and to write the mileage and fuel level. The sign was visible but it took an extra 30 seconds to find the key from box near the entrance of the rental car kiosk. It would have been nice if a physical person would have been available to check you in and visibly inspect your vehicle but at these smaller airports, this seems to be the norm. I asked for a specific vehicle (Ford Mustang convertible) and while signing paperwork she grabs a Jeep key fob. I asked and she said "yeah this is our convertible" I said that when I ask for a specific vehicle I always have gotten that particular one. Her response "Yeah this is ours so..... You can't get a Mustang here" If I had wanted a truck type vehicle I would have asked for one. I went with Hertz because of the AAA discount, but also AAA listed that the minimum age driver restriction was not charged at Hertz if booked through AAA. This was incorrect. The girl who waited on us told us that was correct and we only needed to show my daughter's driver's license. My rental was processed but since my daughter was getting the luggage I stepped out of line and waited for her. By then a long line formed. So we got in line and waited for 10 minutes --only to be told by another employee that we would have to pay for my daughter. When we got to the car, a compact -- Hyundai Accent, we immediately noticed a large black area on the back bumper where the white paint had been stripped. Inside I noticed the back seat had stains. But it was hot and we had already waited and we were hungry so I threw my bag in and jumped in. As I drove, my daughter pointed out a big brown stain by the visor on the driver's side. And a stain on her seat. It wasn't until I got out of the car that we noticed the stains on the driver's seat. Eww. Looked like blood. Never will book through Hertz at MB again. Note: When I dropped the car off -- the man who checked me in just said they were having some issues. They have not had a chance to properly train. Hmm. And I was charged for the extra one hour. Which wasn't a full hour-- our flight was delayed three times due to Hurricane Irma. If I can figure out how to post photos, I will. This is my first Yelp review. read more

Pretty horrible service. I waited in line behind three people, and there was no one, not one person at the counter, for fifteen minutes. I typically have no problems with Hertz, but this location must be extremely mismanaged because this was unacceptable. All the other rental lines at this airport were fully staffed and moving along fine. If you're coming to Myrtle Beach, I'd recommend renting your vehicle from somewhere else. Update: ended up waiting another 1/2 hour for my car after the one hour I waited in line, a large chunk of that time with no one servicing the counter. Never again, Hertz. Never again. read more

The car was nasty... Did I say the car was dirty? I receive a white Jetta, it had crap all over the out side... It looked/ felt like someone drug their suit case down the sides of it. The rubber would rub off, but no one at Hertz was available to clean it. The interior was worse than the outside. Beach? There was sand. the passenger side windshield was cleaned off with mud. There was white crap on the steering wheel and seats. Return was horrible. There was a long line and only one attendant. I almost felt bad about getting in the Gold line... But hey, I did earn it. It took the guy forever to get the customer at the counter to move on. Then the guy was going to take a tourist before the Gold Line... Not! Just give me my receipt so I can get on a plane and get out of here. read more

Do. Not. Go. Here. They're not helpful at all and do not follow Hertz policy. They ran a credit check without telling us then wouldn't rent to us even though we have exceptional credit??? and then wouldn't help us and told us theres nothing they can do for us. ridiculous and lost our business for life. read more
