We just discovered Dolcezza last night. We changed hotels and there was a different location near our new hotel....so we had to go again and try new flavors! Tonight I enjoyed the BANANAS FOSTER, and SWEET CREAM WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS. Both were really good. Bananas foster had strong, natural banana flavors. Last night, I absolutely loved the ROASTED STRAWBERRY flavor which tasted like natural strawberry. I think a two-flavor combination of ROASTED STRAWBERRY and BANANAS FOSTER would be a magical pairing! Service was quick. The line was not as long tonight. This location did not have outdoor seating except for a single bench. They place us cozy without a lot of indoor seating so be prepared to walk away with you gelato instead of hanging out.
We loved the available flavors and the fact that a "small" is two scoops of ice cream since we weren't forced to choose one due to not being too hungry. We got the coffee with cookies and the dulce de leche chip flavors and both were absolutely delicious. I liked the coffee with cookies better but would come back for both. They have limited seating in the store and some benches outside for nice weather as well but we wanted to stroll as we ate. The employees are also very friendly and let you sample a few flavors before committing to two/three.
Insanely good gelato. The woman working at the counter was super friendly! She answered all my questions about the flavors and gave great suggestions. The gelato may have been the best I've had! It was expensive, but I'd say it was worth it! The interior is cute and we enjoyed sitting at the large table, collaborating on a crossword puzzle while downing our sweet treats.
Cute little coffee shop in DuPont, emphasis on little! A lot of patrons and a lot of options, which means they probably do a variety of things very well. I got my strawberry Matcha. It was good, but I wished the strawberry was a little bit more blended in. Service was very fast I was in and out in less than five minutes with a crowd. Would return to try other drinks or gelato.
Dolcezza serves authentic, small-batch gelato, and it was a great stop for a sweet treat. We tried the Coffee & Cookie flavor, which had a rich coffee flavor and was enjoyable overall. It wasn't quite as dense and creamy as some traditional gelato we've had, and there were a few small ice crystals, but it was still fresh and well made. If you're looking for quality gelato and coffee, Dolcezza is definitely worth a visit. We'd happily stop back again.
I hadn't been to Dolcezza in years until I saw a sign outside for their Peach Matcha. Honestly, it was brilliant visual marketing because never have I ever even had a thought or desire that this drink should even exist until that moment. I don't think I had ever even been to this location prior, but upon walking into the space it was so cozy and calming. There was no line, so I was able to place my order and receive it quickly. I didn't know what to expect, but was so pleasantly surprised upon my first sip. Never did I think this drink would be so good! The matcha was smooth and creamy. But the real delight were the muddled peaches at the bottom. They were sweetened, which was unexpected but a pleasant surprise - kind of reminded me of peach pie filling making this drink more of a mild, sweet treat. It's been a couple weeks now and I'm still thinking about it so it was that good. However, even if I had a Dolcezza nearby I would still reserve it as a "from time to time" drink vs an every day drink only because it was a tad sweeter than what I would normally go for. I'm sure it's likely a seasonal drink but I'll be on the lookout for it again in the future. (And I'll keep an eye out for future drink specials from Dolcezza from here on out!)
The first time I came I thought it was just a coffee shop until my friend told me there's ice cream in the back. It looks pretty inconspicuous since the ice cream is not on display. They do give samples and I tried a few before settling on blueberry. The smallest size gives you two scoops so I picked two flavors. They really pack it in. They have a sesame flavor which I've never seen in a non Asian setting which was so interesting and delicious. The person giving us our ice cream was so kind and patient as we looked through the flavors. We then paid up front and sat at their table to enjoy it.
This coffee-gelato shop is a great place to visit in the afternoon when you need a pick-me-upper and a treat for the girlies. Looks like they make their own gelato in small batches. One large communal table where it seems ok to park and get comfortable working. Workers were friendly and patient. The mango sorbet is amazing. There was no line to get in and no line to order.
Yummy! Cute little spot. Had to wait in a short line but the service was lovely and the gelato was perfect way to end a hot day!
The cutest coffee shop! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Came in here to kill time before my firm's dinner and I needed a cup of coffee after my commute from NY to DC; saw this shop and walked right in. It's pleasant when you leave your town and go somewhere that you're greeted so nicely!
Was on my way home and it popped up under my suggestion so decided to give it a try . Got the Seasonal Hot Chocolate. It was amazing. The atmosphere is so cute and cozy The service was rapid and fresh . Will definitely be returning. Big shout out to Will & Cece They gave a great warm welcome energy.
An awesome small coffee and gelato spot. While in DC, I stopped in for my daily latte and almond croissant. The coffee was excellent and the croissant was heavenly. I was able to sit at a community table and enjoy my coffee and croissant. The staff was super helpful and efficient.

So good, man. I'm from Atlanta, where there just aren't a lot of cute coffee shops other than Starbucks. But this place was just perfect. I got a large iced latté with skim milk, and it was wondrous. Honestly the coffee itself wasn't bad, and the service was quick and friendly. Nice atmosphere too, especially for a Monday evening. Only complaint I had was that my cappuccino wasn't quite served hot enough. It became lukewarm within about 2 minutes, and it kinda just ruined the rest of the drink for me. Was a bit sad, bc otherwise this place is really nice. I'd say it's still worth a shot if you're looking for a new regular place. read more

Gelato 5 stars, Chai 1 star Overall, this is a cute and clean little shop which was approved as legit by my Italian coworker. I got a large gelato and a chai tea. For the gelato, I copied my colleague and got a large with chocolate, pistachio, and mascarpone. In the future, I'd probably get a small with just chocolate and pistachio (which is apparently a popular combo in Italy) since I'm not a fan of fruity flavors and the mascarpone was a bit strange to me (still good but not my preference). The one major disappointment here was that buying a chai tea just meant being given hot water with a teabag which imo is not worth paying ~$4 for when I already had a tea bag in my backpack. I wouldn't mind coming back, though I'd pass on a drink. read more

I absolutely love Dolcezza!! They have an a very enticing set of flavors which all have an amazing taste. My favorite pairing is a chocolatey gelato and refreshing sorbetto. Every location I've been to has been impressive, and Dolcezza by far has the best gelato I've tried in the US! read more

The best gelato I've had in DC! my husband and I stopped here for dessert on a Friday evening and oh my gosh, this place is awesome! I mixed a scoop of sweet potato/pecan with thai vanilla and just yum...it was so good. My husband ordered the dark chocolate mixed with coffee/cookies and that was delicious as well. You can't go wrong with this place....best gelato and nicest people. Just be ready to wait a second because others know about this place too, but the line is fast and the gelato is worth the small wait. Thanks!! read more

The flavors are so unique. They have everything from chocolate to Thai coconut milk to pear to Apple. This place is so worth a visit if you're craving the refreshing and sweet taste of gelato. The extensive flavor lineup makes picking your cup of gelato a difficult one. But not to worry! The servers are super helpful and give you samples of each requested gelato flavor. They even give you suggestions. I literally got a small at first and was convinced I needed another large for myself. So that's what I did. I ordered a large right after I finished my small cup of gelato. I am the last person to moderate gelato. I am also the the one person who could eat gelato for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This place is a great place to splurge and stuff your face with the sweet goodness also known as gelato. read more
Really cute and cozy atmosphere with a large wooden table near the door where people can sit (if you can find space!) Took a pretty decent cappuccino to go and was tempted to try some of the sweets they had on display. It did take some time to get the cappuccino though, so beware if you're in a hurry. I think it would fun to sit here on a Saturday/Sunday morning with a newspaper or book and a cup of coffee. read more

Service seemed brusque while dealing with the steady stream of post-dinner patrons. While I didn't see tiramisu on the menu, I was happy enough to pick black mission fig, butter pecan, and lemon ricotta cardamom. I've ordered those in increasing satisfaction. Fig tasted like an improved sorbet, butter pecan had some nice grit, and the cardamom had a smooth, intriguing flavor profile. Ever the adventurer, I asked the girl scooping to hook me up with her favorite out of the available offerings. Her only hesitation was at my decision to go off the reservation. After reeling in her dubious expression, she handed me a cup of Duarte plum with Thai coconut milk and I was left to shuffle to the register to the right. Plum was super tart, as if much of the flavor had been derived from the skin of the fruit. The taste of the Thai coconut milk was spot on, and when swirled together they balanced each other out beautifully. Julia's dulce de leche was okay, if a bit thin to me (but it's also not one of my personal flavor favorites). Churro was too doughy despite the crisp looking surface, giving each bite an unappealing gumminess with all the cinnamon sugar you'd expect. Would not get that again. Three and a half stars. DC prices, certainly. With one rectangular wood table to sit at, I blatantly eavesdropped on a wifi-leecher's phone convo. He described DAG as having a certain je ne sais quoi, and I'm inclined to concur. Plaster and brick, buffed woods. I'm more deterred by the jumbled line of indecisive customers than by the pretentious hipster vibe, so I wouldn't mind lounging around here. I'll grudgingly pay the premium to sample their creative gelatos. read more

You guys, I'm in love. I know, I know. It's weird to say this to a bunch of semi-anonymous Yelp strangers, but I am, and it needs to be said. A single location where I can get gelato and coffee and it won't cost me 400,000,000,000 per visit? I mean those are both part of a healthy, balanced diet. Right? RIGHT? I'm a bit of a coffee snob, and this is one of the few places in DC that I've found that really knows how to make good, strong, coffee without a bunch of sugar, creme, animal crackers, or other unnecessary additions. Beyond the coffee, the setting is really nice: I met a colleague here for an informational interview, and the relaxing atmosphere (and fact that it's tiny so we ended up having to walk around, and I just think better when I'm moving) and delicious brews were the perfect setting, and led to a great job. Will going to Dolcezza lead you to your next job/love affair/winning lotto numbers? I obviously can't guarantee that, but the coffee is a nice consolation prize if I'm wrong. read more
Cozy coffee shop on Connecticut Ave right next to Starbucks. While I do like Starbucks, I wanted to try something different and Dolcezza's cute interior had me sold. Their exposed brick walls made them hard to resist on a gloomy morning. They're tiny but they do have a good seating area, although it gets pretty busy with people on their laptops (I was there on a Thursday around 11 am). Most of their morning snacks were gone. I had a latte to go and even though I forgot to mention it, they did do the coffee art on it which obviously made me happy. The cashier was super friendly and super cute too hahaha They're a little pricey for my taste, but not crazy expensive either. Getting coffee art in an exposed brick walls interior was worth it to me :) I'm definitely coming back to try their gelato since I heard it was yummy. read more

Very creamy gelato! There were so many flavors it was hard to choose! However, you can pick two flavors in a small which is a great option to have a mix of both. This is locally sourced gelato. It is a must-have in the DMV! read more

I don't normally eat gelato, but this one night my friends convinced me to go have a gelato with them after dinner. So, we walked several blocks down to this place around closing time and got to try a whole bunch of gelato flavors. In the end, I got a small cup (comes with 2 big scoops of gelato), ordered 1 scoop Dark Chocolate and 1 scoop Peppermint Straciatella. For about $6 bucks, I thought it was worth it. Was oh so good. So good that we went back the next night... As stuffed as we were from dinner. This time I got the Espresso gelato...so delicious!!! I also sampled the Pineapple mint and baked strawberry. No complaints there, either. The cardamom gelato was pretty good, too! When I visit DC again, I'm totally stopping by this joint again. 10 stars, as far as I'm concerned! read more

So so so good. Highly recommend the Blueberry Lavender and Coffee and Cookies. I got coffee and cookies because of another rave review on it and the scooper also recommended it- and BOY did it not disappoint! I don't always love coffee flavors but it wasn't extremely strong- it was just right. All of it was so tasty and so good! read more

On a hot day (thanks to crazy Maryland weather), gelato is the answer. It is conveniently located down the street from the metro station. The store is a lot smaller than the one in City Center, but kinda cozy! The people working there were really nice and let me try out a few flavors before coming to a decision! (For a small, you can get up to 2 different flavors!) Mascarpone & berries: I'm not super into berry flavors when it comes to ice cream/gelato, but this was really nice! I'm pretty sure there's little frozen berry bits that were a little tart, but balanced with the rest of the flavors! Coffee & cookies: it's like cookies and cream, but coffee!! I personally really like coffee flavors. It wasn't overly sweet or overpowering with coffee flavor. So if you're into coffee, definitely try this out. read more

Got our dinner and we wanted lite dessert. Every other place was too heavy so we decided to check this place out. Ambiance Parking | N/A-We walked but generally it's street parking. Seating | Spacious yet cozy place. It was raining so we sat inside in the booths. The place can seat about 20-25 people. Feels | A very clean place. I feel like it's one of those classic diners in black and white but this a bit more modern and in color. Either that or they were pre-closing. Generally it's a great place to study, catch up with a friend or go on a date. Food: Hot Chocolate (Recommend) * This ain't your powdered cocoa. Surprisingly very thick yet smooth. Definitely quality chocolate but a bit too strong for me. I felt like I was drinking a bar of chocolate but less thick. I should've asked for milk to balance the richness. Overall a good and warming experience. Customer Service: They were tempting us with samples of gelato but ultimately we stayed strong and committed to some hot chocolate. Overall: 4 stars. Thank goodness for this place. It definitely kept us warm and dry from the November rain. Our experience was one of a kind and definitely made it a memorable one visiting DC. I was working in the area 1 week in December 2017 and popped in 1 morning on my way to the office to pick up some coffee and a breakfast pastry. As this was my 1st time here, I sort of wound up on the wrong side of where you were supposed to order (I had gotten distracted by the pastry display haha), but the employee manning the cash register was friendly and patient with me. The pastries weren't labeled so I sort of just pointed to a croissant without knowing exactly what was in it at first; it wound up being ham and cheese, which was fine for me. I also got a 10 oz drip coffee. Both the croissant and coffee were good if a bit pricey, although nothing unexpected for a shop in a city. The location was small but charming. There were a few customers working on their laptops when I was there. Although it was almost 8 AM, there was no line at the register when I arrived. I took my breakfast to go, but would definitely come back to work here if I'm ever back in the area with my laptop. read more
