I took my five month old Coton De Tulear puppy to the classes after signing up for the basic beginner training program and I am pleased I did. The classes were well planned and well run and attended by owners of several different dog breeds all of similar age to my puppy. The classes were held outside and included the very basic commands of sit, stay, come, fetch and walking on a loose leash without pulling. There were more advanced programs also offered which unfortunately I could not attend due to other commitments. Most recently is Keara - a 3 year old fierce little furry rescue who just loves people... but other dogs not so much, as we found out soon after getting her home from the shelter. We just got done with our first session with Dog Genie, and she was the nicest, most down-to-Earth and just plain knowledgeable person I've met. I rescued a dog from the Camarillo dog shelter in mid-March. It was found as a stray and I was told that it was about 14 months old. She ended up being adopted and returned to the shelter after three weeks. Sophie was in distress and deathly afraid of my cane I figured she had been abused. I attempted to go online and try to train the dog using information gathered. I was unsuccessful and looked into hiring a trainer. I searched many trainers by reading the reviews and recommendations from fellow dog owners at the dog park. Genie the dog trainer was recommended by several dog owners as Genies work it is well known; apparently in the equestrian arena as well. That is where I came across the decision to try the Dog Genie. I must tell you that was the best investment I have ever spent. I originally hired her for five hours and she told me after evaluating the dog that I would only need four and could add more if necessary, I was so impressed with the way Genie masterfully handled Sophie as well as myself on how to behave, that I insisted on hiring her for the full five hours. Again money well spent. I recently adopted a ten month old puppy and Sophie became very jealous and kept attacking my new puppy. I used my last session to get instruction from Genie to rectify this problem. Within 24 hour following her instruction, both dogs understood their pecking order and coexist lovingly. Genie is great!! We adopted a puppy (about a 1yr old) from Camarillo shelter. I have been a dog owner my whole life but haven't had a puppy in a while, he is sweet, loving and playful but like Elizabeth E. had issues with other dogs (he was found as a stay in Ventura field). Dog Genie is not only an amazing dog trainer, but also an amazing human being and so much fun to be around! I have a highly fearful rescue dog I have been working with for several months to no avail and she was attentive to my dog's needs. My dog is an extreme case... he is so fearful of humans he cowers and will strive to get away (or urinate) when a stranger approaches.
