I was fortunate to learn about Canine Conservatory when my pup was 6 months old. He was a pitbull/lab mix rescue. Adorable, but with no impulse control, pulled on every walk, and it felt impossible to get him under control. Within a year, he transformed into a well behaved, attentive animal that follows commands and has great recall. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. He made gains very quickly in the first few sessions with Kurt. Kurt has an immense amount of experience and could see signs I couldn't, and provided the tools and training that I could reinforce at home. The immediate supervised socialization with the pack was priceless and so necessary for my pup. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I definitely recommend Canine Conservatory even if it's for a few sessions, you will walk away with tools to build with.

Kurt works miracles! He has been working with our Alaskan malamute for a few months now. Before Kurt, our dog was was eating everything, jumping on people, unable to socialize with other dogs, scratching, biting, cowering from new people, and was being refused from groomers due to his terrible behaviors. There was a lot of rehab needed to get this our 3yr old malamute back to normal. This dog was previously neglected and abused, you can imagine the work it took to get the dog to even approach a human. Kurt has been a serious miracle worker. Just after one lesson, we were able to walk our Malamute rather than being dragged by him. Kurt has given so much support in teaching us how to continue working with him and even teaching our malamute how to be a dog. Now we can comfortably take our malamute to the dog park, set him free to roam. We never thought we'd see the day where our dog could run and frolick around so many other people and dogs. In fact, he loves meeting the people more than meeting the dogs! Highly recommend Kurt over any pet store training!!

We found the Canine Conservatory on Yelp! Kurt is the real deal!! He's a dog lover through and through. Kurt's services are reasonably priced and he really cares about helping people and their dogs. He is patient and knowledgeable. Kurt is not only a wonder with dogs but, he knows what he's talking about. He has equipped us with tools to teach us how to understand our dogs and how to realistically modify their behaviors. Since working with Kurt our dogs are have become more receptive to training and we have more fun working with them. So glad we found Kurt and the the Canine Conservatory!

Kurt at Canine Conservatory is amazing! We adopted a 10-week old puppy and were doing our own at-home training, which was working...kind of. We realized we needed more help to make sure our puppy would be well behaved and safe at home or off-leash at the park, hikes, etc. We spoke with a few dog trainers in the Van Nuys/NoHo area and were drawn to Kurt for a few reasons - his responsiveness to us and his well designed website and the background and methodology it included. We met with Kurt for a 60-min trial and were immediately impressed. He provided explanations and reasonings as to why and what to do and even gave our pup a lesson that day too. We left feeling confident that he'd help us get the job done. We ended up going with the 11-session pack and visited him once a week. We'd come to class with our problem areas and things we wanted to work on and he'd focus on those for us. In between classes he assigns us, as the trainers, the next steps in our puppy's training process in his self-made app, Hundr. The app made it SO EASY to hold my husband and I accountable to continue her training at home AND how to train her correctly. Kurt's also always available by phone/text for questions and is super responsive! Plus, you can meet him at the dog park or out on his nightly walks to join him for some off-the-clock training and tips. He's a rockstar...and our puppy is on her way to being one. We just finished our last session and we have the tools and skills to continue training our pup through the rest of her life. And we still have access to the Hundr app and Kurt will continue assigning us tasks within it and I know he's just a phone call away. I should also mention, his training tactic is 100% friendly and positive reinforcement-based, no punishment. With Kurt, we solved potty training, we know all of the basic commands (sit, down, stay, come, release, off, no) and we've advanced those (sit at a distance, our puppy will stay for a long duration of time, etc.), loose leash walking, and she's learned other behaviors like paw, shake, sit pretty, spin in a circle, etc. Meet with Kurt, and you'll see for yourself how great of a trainer he is!

I am a fairly new client and upon signing up for their service, had my initial home visit with both Brandy and Pamela, another wonderful Peaceful Pup team member. Upon arriving at my home, my dogs immediately felt comfortable and my frenchie could not stop bringing toys to Pamela! These two ladies run a wonderful operation and the service is the best I've ever experienced and when it comes to someone pet sitting your precious fur babies, you want only the best service! I regularly use their potty break service as well as their vacation visits and it's wonderful. They work within an app that is very user friendly and gives you regular updates of their visit, including adorable photos of your pets. I couldn't be happier and more relaxed when out if town for the day, knowing that our dogs were well taken care of. I just booked another appointment tonight, my 6th in a month, so YES, THEY ARE THAT GOOD! Thanks Peaceful Pup in Ojai, you rock!

Best Dog Walking/Sitting service ever!! And local to Ojai!!!! Yay!!!…read more Peaceful Pup is right on with their name. Not only will your furry loved one be at peace by the end of a day full of exercise, play and love, but you will also have peace of mind knowing they are in great hands!! I'm not even sure they missed me? Lol... I was frantic when I heard my usual dog sitter was not going to be available during a time my family and I had planned to be out of the country. I have two bigger, older dogs, who have special needs and behavior particularities (trust issues), and it just takes time and trust for my "kids" to be happy. Brandy, the owner, and her wonderful team, Emy and Rebecca, not only took the time to listen to all the details I felt were important to know, but they made sure to take heed of my recommendations and warnings, and took great notes to provide Tobe and Angel a smooth transition that they were not expecting with such short notice. Tobe and Angel weren't the "problem children" challenge that I thought they would be after all...Brandy and her team just have that naturally gifted comfort, control and confidence about them when they are around furry friends. I opted to choose the lock box option which is great, highly recommended and secure. The daily pictures and reports are also a great bonus. I look forward to seeing their cute faces and reading how their day went. It gives me lots of reassurance and peace. The prices are also more than reasonable. Some additional minor housesitting items were generously included like checking the mail and watering the plants. I will definitely recommend Peaceful Pup to anyone!! No need to look anywhere else!!!

We were a little taken aback by her methods but almost immediately there was a change. Our puppy, Yogi, had been through clicker training but mostly, he and another rambunctious pup were in a separate area rolling around and playing. From that first interaction, Yogi has impeccable manners. I was trying to find Sheila's number, saw some unfavorable reviews and realized that we hadn't left a review after our work with her. She may not be right for every dog but she was perfect for Yogi.

I will second what the previous reviewer wrote back in 2012. How I wish I had come across that…read morereview before scheduling Shelia to perform her "training" service with my dog. If I could only leave zero or negative starts on my review I would! To say that I was extremely upset and felt completely shamed upon her departure from our session is an understatement! DO NOT USE Sheila!!! I cannot express that enough! Apparently she also has 2 yelp pages and the name of her business website is misleading as it is not the same name as her actual business. (cards, paperwork etc is a different name) I will start by saying that my husband and I rescued a 1 year old German Shepherd whom we had for less than a week when we started researching dog training. We have countless years of experience with owning dogs and we already had 2 small/medium size neutered male dogs in our home upon adoption of the shepherd. However, since it had been quite a while since we had a large dog in our home we were in need of a refresher & some advice. We adopted an amazing shepherd. Smart, sweet, quick leaner and great addition to our family. Given that she was adopted, the transition amongst her to our small/medium neutered males started off challenging. The shepherd seemed to be on high alert, in full on attack mode to our boys. So for about the first 1-2 weeks we were cautious separating them all from each other for all of their own safety. It was stressful and I did feel desperate as it was rough on my husband and I playing musical dogs. So that was when my research continued and we were navigating towards in home dog training to curb the issue of what we believed was the shepherd's "small dog aggression". We came across Sheila's website, which is online as Ventura County Dog Training (not Sitting Pretty as she uses for the actual business name) and I reached out pleading my case via email. Sheila followed up with an hour long phone call which at the time we thought was a sign of good things to come. However during her phone call she went on and on about a very particular brand of dog food to which "she had no affiliation with" but that we needed to start feeding to the shepherd right away. We didn't give this too much thought and in the end our desperation lead to her coming to our home for a session. Both my husband and myself had to request a day off of work for our appointment. Since we work during the day and Shelia is against performing training in the evening and was somehow booked for many weeks in advance on the weekends we had no other choice. She was then 20 minutes late for our 12pm appointment, blaming her directions. However as we set the appointment over the phone days prior she had clearly stated she had in fact been in our neighborhood before and knew just exactly where and how to get there. Guess the streets magically moved from where she knew they were last LOL! As soon as she entered our home instantly she claimed our dog was looking "too" aggressive and was about to attack her. She claimed she has been in a yard with 3 dogs coming to attack her and the hair on the back of her neck was standing up making her feel the say way she did around those "3 attack dogs". That should have been our first major red flag since our shepherd loves everyone and everything meeting neighbors, children, family etc. She had NEVER showed signs of aggression other than we thought to our small dogs. But alas, she was newly adopted we didn't want to take our chances and continued on listening to Sheila's BS. I wont go into every single ridiculous detail, because it was all ridiculous and this will be the longest review in history. But in a matter of almost 3 hours all we had learned is that our Shepherd gets bored easily when not challenged. She spent most of her time wanting to lay down as there was NO ACTUAL TRAINING taking place. Sheila the "trainer" NEVER touched our dog, not even her leash ONCE. She only instructed my husband in a very rude and unprofessional way of how he should handle the dog. She advised us to never command the dog using her name, or touching the animal. She claimed "all dogs automatically come programmed to know the word sit once they are 8 weeks old" Really? That is beyond laughable!! Not every home even speaks the same language!! All session all we worked on was "SIT". To top it off she completely insulted my husband and I trying to dig into our background as to why we had so little patience. Really? So little patience? We spent 3 hours telling a dog to "SIT" not touching her, not showing her the action not even allowed to look her in the eye! Of course we were losing patience! So was our dog! About 80% of the session was also again as was on the first phone call to preach to that us we purchase a very specific brand of dog food. She kept reiterating "she had no connection to the company at all but to mention her name when purchasing to get a better discount". That is such an insult to our intelligence I can let yo
