Ricky does not sell a one size fits all package - each of my dogs are VERY different, and while the fundamental approaches and concepts in training are the same - the method and timing in which we applied and reinforced these were vastly different. Ricky is able to connect with two leggers and four leggers alike - he gives clear feedback to dogs and human and uses metaphors that we humans understand (driving the speed limit and getting speeding tickets haha) on how the concepts of his approach effects dog behavior. I couldn't be happier. I am humble and I know I need to continue management (and one of my dogs I am holding to higher standard so we are going to continue our own sessions based on what I have learned) but my dogs are completely different. I'm getting complimented by family, friends, and people on walks - impressed with how well behaved my dogs are. I smile and tell them "thank you it's lots of continued hard work" and move along. This morning in particular we walked during trash pick up, had lots of people distractions, and both dogs stayed heeled and attentive to me on their separate walks. I had the most winderful experience working with the elite pup training staff..ricky in particular. I can sense the love he puts into the animals he trains and i immediatly felt safe a comfortable leaving my dog with him for the 3 week hybrid training. Nothing short of a MIRACLE!!!! I cannot recommend Ricky and his staff enough. We are so, so, SO grateful to have a well-behaved puppy now. I don't know how they did it in just three weeks (we did the overnight stay option, which was completely worth it). But they did. We have a loving but challenging sweet pup who was a whole different personality from our older dog (who was much easier to train ourselves). She was food obsessed (still is, but totally in control now) and jumped at us sitting at the table and grabbed food out of our mouths! She also is a major barker, now completely manageable. She may do a bark here or there, but is easily redirected and stops. She heels and lies down easily. She jumped to say hi to people and they also resolved that. She absolutely HATED her crate (would bark/cry non-stop) and now she goes in without issue. She may have a whimper here or there initially, but immediately stops when we use our commands learned from Ricky. We were set to spend the weekend glamping at El Capitan. Upon check in, they informed us we couldn't bring our dog anywhere on property, but recommended boarding at Elite. Frantic on a Sat afternoon, we reached out but anticipated having to drive all the way back home to L.A. We got a call back within an hour from Elite and they were able to take in our little Arri. The girls in the staff were very sweet and friendly. The facility is nestled in a lovely ranch along the coast. Our little Arri was well cared for. We started our journey with Ricky, Vanessa and the elite staff back in 2020 when we took our oldest dog Barstow into training. He is a rescue and was a very reactive dog. Following the training , walking him and having him in different environments has been drastically changed for the better. We signed up Stella for EPTs 3 week boarding program and are very happy with the results! We had done other training courses before choosing EPT but we still needed more help to address Stella's reactiveness. In the past we couldn't even take her on a walk without her pulling the whole way or lunging at cars driving by. Thankfully all of that is no longer an issue thanks to EPT. In all honesty I almost gave up on my dog, Kenna. She had a hard start in life and had many fears. It had been difficult to work with her everyday all alone. Ricky and the team at Elite Pup are AMAZING!! Ricky is so so friendly and kind, and he's great at what he does. I had been pretty hesitant to do ecollar training, but after a couple years of only positive reinforcement, I realized I needed to try something else for my small but very reactive dog. Ricky takes a wholistic approach and uses both positive reinforcement and corrections with the ecollar, he pays close attention to the dogs and knows how to ease them into understanding the ecollar. He is very thoughtful in his approach, which made me feel much more comfortable. My dog wasn't able to see another dog from across the street without barking and lunging like crazy. Now we can walk closely by other dogs with little to no reactions, and I know exactly how to handle it if there is a reaction. Ricky was recommended to us & I would highly recommend him to anyone as well. Gia, my 10-month puppy just completed the hybrid day training program. She gained so much confidence and impulse control. After I adopted her, she quickly started pulling on her leash/ zig zagging all over when walking and would bark at or be timid of new adults (+ a few other undesirable behaviors as she was trying to see what she could get away with & I wasn't sure how to correct these my own). Ricky and all his crew at Elite Pup Training are incredible and truly helped us with our second dog. Koa was not socialized well his first year due to COVID restrictions and had become fearful of and aggressive towards strange dogs on and off leash. We tried using a clicker and treating and distractions to get him to stop lunging and barking at other dogs but that did not work. It became so bad that it was just too stressful to walk him around other people walking their dogs and it seems everyone has a dog right now. We heard about Ricky through a number of reputable sources and decided to invest the time and energy into training Koa so he would not be so fearful. Ricky was great. We did six sessions and then decided to add three more because it was helping so much and because we all needed a bit more training. Ricky is positive and clear. He takes the time to evaluate your dog and adjust the homework training and the sessions with him and his dogs so that you get the best results. Koa loved going. Through praise, repetition and consistency, Koa is feeling more comfortable in new situations without the need to react. He is heeling well and reacting less and is on his way to being the perfect dog for us that we knew he could be. He even ran around off leash with Ricky's well trained dogs and had a great time at our last two sessions. This is the complete opposite of what he did the first time he saw them when he rushed the fence barking with hackles raised. Ricky helped us with a very challenging time for our goldendoodle. Our dog had always been sociable and easy to take anywhere, parks, hiking, walking around busy areas. However, during the evacuations for the Thomas Fire and flood warnings after the debris flow, which we followed directly with a home remodel, the disruption to his daily life and schedule took a toll that we could not have imagined. He became reactive and fear aggressive to other large dogs (with an emphasis on particular breeds) to the point where a trip to the dog park or hiking might end in us immediately leaving and with me in tears of sadness and frustration. Our dog is more emotionally sensitive than any other dog I've known, so we were very wary of using an e-collar with him. Speaking with a non e-collar trainer who had moved out of the area, she recommended Ricky and Elite Pup Training even though he does use e-collars as a training tool. We met Ricky and decided to proceed with a number of training sessions with him and his pack. Despite our hesitation, and with Ricky's guidance, we were able to learn how to gently and positively use the e-collar to communicate with our dog when a behavior is not acceptable. Fortunately, our dog got the picture pretty quickly, and we were always able to keep the collar on vibrate or a low setting (which I also tried on myself to see what it felt like). It took a few months using the e-collar and Ricky's training guidelines, but we were able to eventually even stop using the e-collar. The other day our dog played happily with a large, young German Shepard, a dog that would have intimidated and set him off a year ago! I love dogs and consider myself pretty knowledgeable about their behavior - I can generally tell when a dog is upset and redirect it and walk it away before it attacks. I know how to train a dog to sit, stay, come, etc. And then I adopted a dog who seemed super confident, but turned out to have separation anxiety. I socialized the heck out of her - brought her everywhere. She became a fairly happy and well adjusted dog - I knew she was skiddish around strange people, but she was GREAT with other dogs - she communicated perfectly and would walk away to avoid confrontation. Unfortunately, my husband and I began traveling more, and every time we left - even though she was dogsat by friends she loved - she'd be worse when we came back. She started getting more fearful around strangers, and aggressive towards other dogs. She'd whine and then growl. I had no idea why it was happening. When she lunged at a dog she used to love, I was completely at a loss - I knew I needed a very legit trainer. I contacted both Ricky and the company in SB with 45+ positive 5-star reviews. Ricky came to my house for a free consult, and gave us the tools we needed to attempt training on our own. The other company wanted $150 for a consult at their facility, and told me that if I didn't give them $2500 for boot camp that my dog would become a financial and emotional burden when I got sued. Needless to say, we went with Ricky. The only critique I have of Ricky is that he sold himself short when he said that we seemed knowledgeable and could probably watch youtube videos of e-collar training and figure this out by ourselves. There is NO WAY we could have done this on our own. At the end of every session, my dog and I are mentally exhausted. I regularly text and call Ricky for training tips between sessions, and he always provides incredibly valuable information so that we can continue progressing throughout the week. Ricky adopts his training suggestions and location based on my dogs behavior. Dog is fearful when people come to the house? Ricky will come to your house and bring another person. Dog is aggressive when other dogs are in her house? Ricky will come to your house and bring two dogs. Dog training is expensive, and I wish I didn't have to do it, but I'm so glad we have Ricky. It's been amazing to learn how much I can do to change my dog's behavior and make her calmer. I still don't completely understand how we're going to get her back to a place where she likes playing with other dogs, but I'm just happy that I can at least get her to ignore them now - and that's also why I just signed up for three more sessions. I adopted a 9 year old dog with behavior problems, especially around other dogs. She's 11 now and Ricky Rojas has been training me and my dog ever since. Where do we begin, His program changed our relationship with our 2 year old Border collie/Aussie mix rescue dog for the better!
