My dog, a large golden retriever, looks beautiful. We went to Dog Barber 2 yesterday for the first time. Finley is not an easy dog to groom but they made him look fantastic. So patient with him. Will definitely be back

Riley after his most recent grooming experience at Dog Barber 2 - see how happy and cute he is?!

This place is fantastic. We originally took our Wheaten Terrier, Riley here because we read some of the good online reviews. In fact, this was the first groomer Riley went to once we got him as a puppy. We took him here a few times, and they were always consistent, Riley always had the perfect puppy cut, and he was always happy afterwards. Our first time there they even gave us a full tour of the place - they truly take pride in their business. Then one day we decided to go to a place which was closer to our house in Palatine - bad move. Riley came out with a super short haircut and his hair was uneven in certain places, and he seemed a little timid. We actually gave that groomer another chance and the same thing happened. So, long story short, we will never take Riley anywhere else except to Dog Barber 2 from now on. The ladies are so friendly, Riley is so excited to get there as soon as we walk in the door, and they do a fantastic job EVERY TIME. Great job Dog Barber 2! Thanks so much for taking care of our Riley :) and Riley thanks you too! :)

My dog is over 15 years old and not too easy to groom I thought I would take a chance around the corner from my house. I called Dog Barber 2. I spoke with Cindy and she couldn't be any nicer and concerned about my elderly dog. I got a grooming appointment the very next day and I met Kimmy at first and she was warm and welcoming. She was very thorough about my dogs needs and health issues. Cindy called me to let me know they were running later because they thought my dog needed a break. I felt that was so kind and considerate of her. She wanted to make sure my dog had a calming great experience. When I returned to pick up my dog I found a happy well groomed dog and Cindy and Kimmy stated he did better than I said he would. Kimmy and Cindy were fantastic and I am so grateful and fortunate that I found Dog Barber 2 right under my nose and didn't even know it. I know it NOW and thank you Cindy and Kimmy for making my dog look fantastic and happy. He is also attached to the new toy you gave him!! BTW.....we will be back AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN Thanks again.... you guys are great and the price is right too!! Bari and Baxter

I been going here with many different pets. I start going here with my cat Crystal. which was a long hair cat. To get her a hair cut they always did a great job. Then my dad dog Buddy was going to a different groomer. which swear to God was tranquilizing my brother. When he was getting groomed. He was coming home all drug up and space cadet. Means I would go get him and took him to the Dog Barber 2 and they let me stay with him. They did a great job with Buddy. He would aways go him in a great mood. Then we start to take Rosie to them and she was a pain when I give her a bath. But she alway was very well behaved for them. Means Rosie kept going to them thank you Dog Barber 2. Now my new best friend Brownie goes to them and he get a beautiful makeover they treat him like a king. Thank you to Cindy she has always made it very easy to get appointment when I need one. Thiers was one time Brownie could not get appointment. And we had to take Brownie somewhere else. He made sure that we knew he was piss at us all day. Brownie made sure that we knew never to take Brownie anywhere else. Are you recommended this place to a best friend Renea And Alex to take thier Siberian Husky Natasha love this place. Thank you so much Cindy for all your hard work. I trust this place like it family.

Andrea is a phenomenal groomer who will not only groom your dog as asked, but treats your dog as if they were her own. Many times she has caught health issues that my vet couldn't find. There is never any judgment, just honest communication so you can address things if necessary. Down to the tiny bumps and lumps that most dog owners miss. If you have never groomed your dog yourself, you will never truly be able to understand the dedication, awareness and communication that is required to do this job. As someone who has attempted to groom my own dogs, the respect for Andrea is immense. If you love your dogs and consider them members of your family, Andrea is the groomer for you. There is personally not a single negative thing I could say about her (coming from a service based small business owner). Just book your appointment and you will see why she is the best in the area!

The smell upon entering was not wet dog but more like sewage, very unpleasant, as I moved towards the wash stations the smell faded The wash station was dirty, hair still in the tub from the previous user Very watery shampoo (no labels to know what you're actually using) I suppose they dilute it so it lathers more quickly, but if I returned I'd bring my own. Water pressure is great, but water temperature never really got warm. The towels are quite raggedy & not absorbent. The blow dry was miserable between all the fur on the unswept floor blowing around, & not having a place to put my pet while drying. $24/per hour is increased from the $20 I was told by another customer but again I tried to call to inquire on pricing & products and got no answer.

The girls working at DD were friendly and helpful. I'll be back. Highly recommended!

On November 2, I brought my 10-pound mini poodle, Phoenix, to a grooming appointment at Wheeling…read moreDog Spa (737 W. Dundee Rd, Wheeling IL 60090). I was excited to try a new facility, but unfortunately, the experience resulted in a distressing incident that has had lasting effects on both Phoenix and my family. When I arrived, I noticed another dog was still being groomed, which surprised me since I had understood the spa operated on a one-dog-at-a-time policy. (On their website, it states, "We follow the principle of grooming one pet at a time to minimize the stress dogs experience from a long wait time in crates.") The owner, Jane, provided me with paperwork to complete. During this time, I observed that she stepped away from the dog she was grooming, and I did not see another staff member present, which made me uneasy. After completing the paperwork, I returned to my car and saw Phoenix standing near the front door behind a small gate. Seeing him there alone concerned me, as it appeared that anyone passing by could potentially enter the store and access him. Wanting to ensure his safety, I remained in my car to keep an eye on him. Some time later, another customer arrived to pick up her dog. I saw her interacting with Phoenix through the door, and then, to my shock, the door opened, and Phoenix got out. We immediately ran after him, but given the location near Dundee Road, where traffic moves at high speeds, I was extremely fearful for his safety. After about 20 minutes of searching, I received a notification that Phoenix's microchip had been scanned--he had been taken by a good Samaritan to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Buffalo Grove after being hit by a pickup truck. When I arrived at the hospital, I was devastated. The veterinarians were uncertain whether Phoenix would survive. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and miosis with scleral hemorrhage (eye trauma). My husband and I stayed with him overnight, hoping and praying for his recovery. Now, more than four months later, Phoenix is not the same. He has become significantly more timid, shakes in the car (something he never did before), and exhibits anxiety in new places. Despite extensive training before the accident, his responsiveness has changed. This event has had a lasting emotional and physical impact on both Phoenix and our family. I personally believe this situation could have been prevented with additional precautions. If the spa has a policy of grooming one dog at a time, it would have been helpful for that policy to be clearly followed. The small gate at the entrance did not appear to be a sufficient barrier to prevent a small dog from escaping. Additionally, I believe steps such as ensuring dogs are kept further from the front entrance or keeping the door locked when pets are inside could improve safety. This experience has deeply affected me. My husband and I had to take time off work to care for Phoenix, and I had to rearrange multiple work commitments. More than anything, I now struggle with trusting anyone to care for my dog. While I am incredibly grateful that Phoenix survived, this incident has had lasting emotional effects on our family, and I sincerely hope that safety measures will be reviewed to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
