The Dog Stop - Deerfield

Where do I begin?!! We have been going to THE DOG STOP for years, but they just continue to exceed…read moremy expectations! We were 15 minutes late past closing last night due to a flight delay. I spoke to several members of the team who assured me that they would wait so I could get my timid dog out of boarding. I didn't even ask, they OFFERED! Plus, they had groomed him later in the afternoon so he was fresh and clean for pickup. Evie is a rockstar! Went above and beyond-so kind and sweet-stayed late and even gave him extra treats! Sarah, the general manager called me today as a follow up....service is just second to none!

If there was a negative star option, I would have used that…read morerating. If you love your pet, do NOT let them near this facility. We boarded our healthy but elderly dog for a week at this facility. We boarded her here before without incident and always informed the handlers about her chronic conditions, but not life threatening conditions (bronchitis, arthritis and partial deafness). Before the week was over and on Christmas day (the day before we were due to pick her up) we received a text message (because why would anyone pick up the phone these days) informing us that our dog had diarrhea and had literally soiled all over herself. We asked whether we could pick her up right away in response to their text but were told that we should wait a couple of hours. After we brought her home our dog vomited several large rubber bands and bile and started shaking uncontrollably, followed by more diarrhea. We promptly took her to the emergency vet and spent hours there and many hundreds of dollars in testing, including an ultrasound the following morning, to treat her dehydration and to make sure that our dog had expelled all of the foreign matter from her system. We informed the Dog Stop of these facts and received a "poor dog" text in response, claiming that they were "investigating the matter." No phone call or any offer to make things right by this facility. The negligence of this business and their staff have caused pain and discomfort to our (former therapy) dog who has precious little time left on this Earth. I am outraged and how little concern they have shown for our animal and would never ever let any animal near this facility.

Wags on Willow is the best small business pet shop! You can tell just from their adorable logo how…read moremuch they care about the pets that come into their shop. Wags does dog grooming services, as well as Cats! They have a unique selections of natural dog foods, treats for your pawed friends, and emergency supplies you may need. Their front display case has the cutest cookies and pup-cakes for special occasions! Mary, the owner, is such a friendly and honest woman, and her employees do their best to make your dog or cat comfortable and looking top-notch! It may be difficult to make an appointment, they are always busy due to such loyal and satisfied customers! My Matilda loves going to get a bath and cookie afterwards. They treat her like the princess she is! While you wait, check out the awesome shops in the area, or stop by Stormys Grill and Tavern for a drink or Beyond Burger.

Wags on Willow has some very good groomers. However be very very careful about scheduling. Website…read morescheduling NEVER works properly so make sure you call. We were having guests so we scheduled grooming the day before they arrived. We scheduled 6 weeks in advance! About a week before I got an email that only one dog was scheduled so I responded by explaining I scheduled BOTH dogs. No response. I assumed they fixed it. When I brought the dogs the very terse person at the front desk was totally unhelpful. She actually asked me to PROVE that I sent emails and argued with me! I'm not arguing with anyone and so I left and had to find another option. In desperation I went to Scent Hound and they were willing to help me even if their groomer had to stay later!! And they did an amazing job. PLUS they removed 2 mats instead of merely cutting them out. And the front desk person was delightful. I was lucky to have found someone who could help. Additionally there is a person in the lobby who is training dogs. One time when I arrived I was told I had to stand in a certain place and my dogs had to be within a certain distance from her dogs. The lobby is small and there is not enough space for a customer friendly entrance. I wanted to give direct feedback on my challenges with the front desk person to the owner rather than post a review. I was told they would contact me. It's been 4 weeks and I still haven't heard. There are so many options for grooming it's just not worth lousy front desk people and poor processes. If your website is not working well then don't have customers self schedule. We will not be returning and recommend anyone think twice. There are other options.
