We were surprised to find a Caribbean food restaurant in Roanoke and it didn't disappoint. I had the shrimp platter with rice and plantains. It was well seasoned and tasted fresh. I really liked that the plantains were not sticky and soft like other places. Excellent food and service! read more

My family and I just ate Doc's for the first time tonight....wow! This place is amazing for so many reasons. The food is fresh, flavorful, and healthy. I highly recommend the Bermuda bowl with shrimp, fried rice, and cabbage slaw. We also got a side of plantains and fresh squeezed lemonade. The owner is super nice! This is a great addition to the Roanoke food scene. We will be going back weekly (if not more!). So...go to Doc's. You won't regret it! read more

A new restaurant opened in Roanoke today. It's a tiny little place (so small there's no real indoor seating) called Doc's Street Grill. It does Caribbean food, and it does it SO well! I had the jerk shrimp and pork platter, and it was unbelievably good. Follow it up with a Jamaican ginger beer, and be prepared for an experience like no other. This is really good food, at a surprisingly low price (the platter, ginger beer and a bottle of pineapple ginger soda was $20). The owner is so nice and a very gracious host. Service is fast and food is memorable. read more

So we have been customers for a while, I grew up eating Jamaican food (mainly jerk) in Los Angeles and my husband is completely new to Caribbean food. While it's missing traditional rice and peas, he offers greens and cabbage that never disappoints. I also don't miss the traditional rice and peas due to his island rice flavor. If we could go weekly my husband would he loves the dry mild calypso wings and red beans, my 3 yo always eats all the chicken or shrimp and island rice. We always support locals, Doc's owner knows his customers and also gives an accurate wait time. The food also reheats well. Try it you won't regret! read more

Tucked away spot serving up authentic, fresh Island food let me tell ya. I opted for the Calypso bowl and got the fried yellow rice, with chicken and cabbage stir fry mild spice flavor. Added a cup of greens and two Jamaican beef patties. By far the best bowl of greatness I've ever had. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu. The owner is one super cool cat. Make the trip to Roanoke and go see Stephen Alade read more

We had driven by a number of times and finally stopped today to try this new grill. We were not disappointed! The food is amazing! We had shrimp, veggies, fried rice, and plantains. It was so flavorful. The plantains were absolutely delicious and I can't wait to have them again. I am looking forward to trying the pork next time. The only negative to our visit was the wait was a little lengthy, but the owner was so gracious and apologetic about it. There was a number of orders all going in at the same time and we felt like this was not the normal wait time. It will definitely not deter us from visiting again. Great job Doc's! read more

Wow the rice. Oh the island rice. Wings and jerk grilled chicken is very tasty. You can tell he cares about his food and his service. Call ahead and turn on a little reggae on the way to pick up ;) read more

The worst customer service! Tried to order take out over the phone and the guy didn't know anything about the menu or how to take a order period. He goes and get the cook to answer my question about getting jerk wings. The cook continue to over talk me and wouldn't let me finish my order without him cutting me off. The food is pretty good but I will never go here again. read more

A Hidden Gem that shouldn't remain hidden!!! I had the chicken jerk plate and it was all cooked on the spot fresh. Flavors were amazing as was the rice and beans I had with it. Maybe some of the best food I've had in the town it was that good. I'll definitely make it a regular spot and try out the rest of the menu. read more

Doc's Street Grill - The restaurant. - Chicken Wings Near Me - Roanoke, Texas

Not authentic. The wings are of very cheap quality (Full of fat). Overpriced. Eat at your risk. Dirty chicken covered in dressing, so that people don't see it taste flavor of chicken. Try jerk chicken at different restaurant and see the difference. Had to give one star to post the review. read more

This was my first time trying Doc's, and I will be back. I have never had more flavorful, tender pork and cabbage. Don't get me wrong, the chicken was great too. I just loved the pork the most. I also love plantains, but they are hard to find. These were delicious. It was all amazing, and it was a lot of food. I had some leftover. read more

Doc's is a black owned business, I wanted to purposely go there on Juneteenth. I probably passed 25 restaurants to get there. Was not disappointed. Ordered dry jerk wings with some hot sauce on the side. Absolutely perfect blend of spices in the jerk seasoning and my car still has the smell. Will be back soon. read more

This is a tiny, awesome restaurant. I got a Calypso bowl with steamed rice, cabbage and shrimp that was so delicious. Don't let this tiny spot keep you away, the service was excellent as well as the food. I'll definitely be back soon. read more

I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try this place, so close to home. DELICIOUS food, but even more incredible customer service. The person who helped take my order over the phone was so kind and friendly! Perfect takeout for our outdoor picnic! read more

Great Jamaican jerk chicken and shrimp! There's currently road construction around this small, Black-owned business but it's worth going to. If you don't live close enough for takeout, they do have a couple of picnic tables outside. Service was excellent. read more

I am sure the food is delicious they seem to have a dedicated following. However, I waited 30 minutes no one greeted me and or even acknowledged us. There seemed to be one person taking orders and preparing. I was visiting the area as I live I. California. Maybe it was bad timing and it doesn't look like I will ever get a chance to taste the food here. read more

Great food. Feel like I was back home in NYC. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Unfortunately, we inhaled the curried chicken pattie (ground up curried chicken in a pastry crust) before we could snap a picture but we remembered in time for the jerk chicken and jerk pork. This food was fantastic! The plantains were perfectly sweet. The beans straight out of the islands. The cabbage sauté was tasty and still had just the right amount of crunch. And the island fried rice... there aren't words good enough! On to the meats: the pork was grilled to perfection with fantastic jerk seasonings and slathered in hot sauce (we ordered the hot option). The chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the edges in JUST the right places. I actually regret not getting the spicier option. While it certainly wasn't mild by any stretch, I found it much more flavorful and not so spicy a good sweet beverage wouldn't sort. Sadly, we didn't opt to try the lemonade or punch, another regret. We will definitely be back! One thing to keep in mind, this is a small operation. He has limited hours and cooks FRESH when you order. Calling your order in ahead and planning for some lead time on your order (he's great at giving accurate quotes) will make it a much smoother experience. read more

Wow. This place rocks. I thought Doc's grill would be a dive bar or something, so what a pleasant surprise to learn that's it's awesome Jamaican food. I got the jerk chicken with cabbage bowl, aka the calypso bowl. So full of flavor and texture. The yellow fried rice was amazing, the stir fried cabbage, kale and carrot combo rocks and the tender chicken was full of flavor. The large bowl is going to feed me twice for about $13. Can't wait to go back to try the meat pies! read more

I can't believe that I am just now discovering Doc's Street Grill. Landed here on a whim and I am in love. It's so hard to find authentic food from other cultures in the suburbs, but Doc's Street Grill is a hidden gem in Roanoke, TX. We enjoyed the jerk chicken platter & a combination platter (jerk chicken & pork) w/ island rice and cabbage. It was all absolutely delicious. The jerk chicken reminded me of getting jerk chicken at a little shack in Jamaica. Also, be prepared for a little wait if you order upon arrival. The food is prepared from scratch after you order. It is definitely worth the wait and you can always call ahead to order! read more

Delicious. This food truck turned brick and mortar apparently has the experience to make some great Caribbean food. They have a great selection of meats and vegetables that are spicy and delicious. I'm on a mission to try it all now. read more

A great little roadside grill with delicious food. They have amazing Jamaican/West African food served in an informal style. They have tables outside and also take-out. Definitely try the Jamaican Patties (a empanada style Jamaican meat pie) and their selection of Jamaican sodas. Also, try the Calypso Bowl, which is so good!! I definitely recommend and will return! read more

The service is horrible I came up inside waiting about 20 minutes and no was at the register. I said is anyone available no reply. I waited a moment then said one more time then a guy came out and said to me sir it's at least a 26 minutes wait and said if I don't like it I can go somewhere else in a rude tone snappy at me. I just said okay I'm leaving and left. I will not return back there again read more

Great flavors!!! We ordered the chicken and the shrimp platters. The mild sauce was very flavorful with a bit of spice and a touch of sweetness. The meat pie was delicious with the perfect amount of Caribbean spice. Will definitely be back! read more

Don't pass this place up. This is great take out food. I should have tried this place before. I wasn't sure if this place was legit the first time I drove by. It is intended for carryout. I learned today you should call in first. Everything is from scratch which means it takes time. So, call in early. Don't kid yourself. Call in early. I made that mistake today. The food was amazing. I highly recommend his food for something completely different. Jerk wings are top notch. I will refer and be back. Thank you. read more

The guy working there was friendly. They were okay. Even though the days wasn't too hot outside, it was hot inside, they should fix the AC in there I feel sorry for the worker(s) we ordered two chicken bowls.. But they tasted very strongly of shrimp. Even smelled of it. Also there was only a very small amount of chicken and the rest rice. I would expect more meat for the price we paid... I would have probably given another star, but they should find a method of cooking the chicken that doesn't cross contaminate the shrimp into it. It was very strongly tasting of shrimp and I didn't order shrimp because I am not big on the taste of shrimp but there might as well have ordered shrimp since that was the general taste in my chicken bowl. I don't suppose I'll be going back again. read more
