    Great Jamaican vegetables

I've reviewed the oxtail but today was my first time to go outside my box and try the spicy jerked chicken. SHAME ON ME. I rarely try chicken but this was indescribably good. I mean it. My mouth is watering as I write this review (and I just finished my leftovers at home). Imagine the best barbecue chicken you have ever put in your mouth. Then add some Jamaican spice to the mix. Makes me want to my heritage for not showing me this. Truly. Begrudgingly I shared some with my wife. She loved it and she she's not big on spicy, but she's learning. The meat was fall off the bone tender. The marinade went into the meat. It was juicy but not wet. To borrow a phrase from the Colonel ... Finger licking good. The Basmati rice was cooked to perfection. Not too dry and the sauce from the jerk made it special. The cabbage is always perfect. A little crunchy. A little soft. I always have a hard time describing the cornbread (which counts as one of your sides). It's light and airy. A different texture than southern cornbread but really good. I was given a piece of the jerked BBQ chicken. Word of caution. This was after I had fallen in love with the Spiced Jerked Chicken. It had all the same attributes except it was a little wetter from the BBQ and it had the BBQ flavor. It's great chicken but the Spiced Jerked Chicken gets my vote as number one. Probably number one over any BBQ restaurant.

Oxtail, cabbage, fried plantains, rice and peas

This is my second time visiting and the food is great! I have got the oxtail both times! You can count on good, authentic service!

Foods great portions are horrible for $28 where's the food ? The plate looked like leftovers not a $28 dollar meal. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for giving me $28 worth of scraps. A scoop of rice I'd say peas but i only saw 3 of those and 4 oxtails. I ordered online so i guess that rules out having good service and integrity.

Jerk oxtails, corn bread, & fried dumpling

My partner is Jamaican, so we always look for the best Jamaican restaurants in the places we travel to. Stephanie's Jamaican Kitchen definitely makes the list as a restaurant we will return to every time we are in DFW. It is NOT a fast food restaurant. The food is prepared so lovingly and in exactly the time it takes to be ready, so bring your patience and cash to tip the wonderful staff. There is ample parking in their lot and they have lots of family bench-style seating inside. FOOD: - Oxtails were very flavourful & tasty with a good portion - BBQ jerk chicken fell off the bone - Fried dumplings are exquisite... MUST GET - Cabbage is some of the best we have tasted - Corn bread is incredibly moist & sweet - Mac & cheese was classically perfect

Found this place on Yelp and now I'm a fan! Delicious food, warm and friendly staff, and simple decor--everything you want from a Jamaican restaurant! We tried curried goat and the oxtail this time and we were not disappointed. The plantains were so melt in your mouth good that I had to get a side order to take home for later. The only downside is their short hours of operation, but I promise it is worth getting there Tuesday through Friday 11:00-5:00!

Curry Goat, rice and peas, cabbage, Plantain
    Shae J.

The only thing that was good on the plate was the plantain. The curry goat was super dry. Where is the sauce? Rice and peas were really just Basmati rice and a couple of peas. Idk what they did to the cabbage but my goodness the plate was horrible other than the plantain.

Flavors on the southside .. Stephanie's Jamaican Kitchen gets my Black Owned Business of the Year in FW! Small in size, Stephanie's is constantly putting out top tier Caribbean grub. From the curry chicken, my favorite BBQ jerk, Oxtails, you name it Stephanie's gets the job done. Plates come with three sides & meats can be often mixed, which gives you the ability to try different items at once. Here recently, Stephanie has been offering homemade rum cake as a possible menu addition! Stephanie and her front counter staff member are consistently welcoming, familiar faces always feel at home. If you happen to be on the southside be sure to give Stephanie's a go for some island flavors!

Jerk chicken with rice peas, beans and cornbread. Goat stew with rice and peas.

My husband had jerk chicken, rice and peas. I've never seen this man clean his chicken bones, but he did. The flavor of the jerk chicken is awesome and the cornbread had a subtle sweetness to it and it was moist. I had goat, rice and peas with a side of green beans. WOW my mouth just went to flavor town. It was such a rich dish. We are going back for more soon. We can stop looking for Jamaican restaurants because we just found it. We highly recommend this place.

Jerk/bbq chicken over dirty rice with cabbage and cornbread
    Huan P.

Oh baby, can I say FLAVOR? This place is bleeding authentic spices and seasoning. I had the Jamaican/bbq chicken over dirty rice. That dirty rice is dirtyyyy delicious. Chicken was very tender and I love dark meat! The cabbage was a little too cooked for me but it was seasoned excellently. The cornbread was HEAVEN, so fluffy and sweet, it helped balanced the saltier portions. I will be going back to this place to try the other meats and sides for sure.

    Under cooked BBQ jerk chicken.

Never again will I be ordering from this place. I actually took a few bites before I noticed the rawness of this chicken! I'm disgusted.

I love their food but they are slow even with answering phone, I drove 20 mins and she tells me we are waiting on green beans. They are constantly having customers come in one at a time, food is fresh so maybe it's worth the wait this is my second visit. They do run out of stuff since made daily so there is that. Great food again

Loved it. I was able to walk right in and pick up my food so they were prompt with prep and delivery. This is definitely a place I be back too.

I don't think i've had jerk chicken before and i think i came to the right place to try it out…read more... When we walked in, it was only people of color, so that indicator probably meant that i was in for a good authentic meal. The interior had multiple tables spreads around and on the right side of the building it was where the people were taking orders and preparing the food to take to your table. We ended up getting coco bread, chicken stew and half jerk chicken with fries. The stew came with two side dishes, so we ended up getting rice&peas and collar greens. The jerk chicken only came with fries but it was only 13 bucks. you do have the option to get jerk chicken with two sides, but that would have been 19 dollars. The coco bread was really fully and if you dip it into the stew chicken, it takes it to another level. Both dishes were excellent and the kick on the jerk chicken was spicy but not too bad where you couldn't enjoy it. Service was great, and they were friendly. Located right behind the McDonalds. All in all, i'll come back if i'm in the area.
