MAJOR CONCERN: !!!My concern is that I believe they would have re-packaged and resold food that I (a customer) had in my position for about an hour!!! SITUATION: I ordered food and had someone pick it up. This was a 20-min drive each direction. The restaurant mistakenly included someone else's order with ours and charged me an additional $33 for it. I spoke to the owner over the phone. She acknowledged the mistake of including and charging someone else's order, BUT she refused to refund me for that person's food unless we took the food back to her. I informed the owner it was a 20-min drive each direction but she didn't care. She continued to complain about her being out of $33 if we didn't take it back. I did not get a refund and logically, I can't think of any other reason she would demand the food back unless the plan was to repackage and sell the food to someone else. I've reviewed the oxtail but today was my first time to go outside my box and try the spicy jerked chicken. SHAME ON ME. I rarely try chicken but this was indescribably good. I mean it. My mouth is watering as I write this review (and I just finished my leftovers at home). Imagine the best barbecue chicken you have ever put in your mouth. Then add some Jamaican spice to the mix. Makes me want to my heritage for not showing me this. Truly. Begrudgingly I shared some with my wife. She loved it and she she's not big on spicy, but she's learning. The meat was fall off the bone tender. The marinade went into the meat. It was juicy but not wet. To borrow a phrase from the Colonel ... Finger licking good. The Basmati rice was cooked to perfection. Not too dry and the sauce from the jerk made it special. The cabbage is always perfect. A little crunchy. A little soft. I always have a hard time describing the cornbread (which counts as one of your sides). It's light and airy. A different texture than southern cornbread but really good. I was given a piece of the jerked BBQ chicken. Word of caution. This was after I had fallen in love with the Spiced Jerked Chicken. It had all the same attributes except it was a little wetter from the BBQ and it had the BBQ flavor. It's great chicken but the Spiced Jerked Chicken gets my vote as number one. My husband had jerk chicken, rice and peas. I've never seen this man clean his chicken bones, but he did. The flavor of the jerk chicken is awesome and the cornbread had a subtle sweetness to it and it was moist. I had goat, rice and peas with a side of green beans. WOW my mouth just went to flavor town. Oh baby, can I say FLAVOR? This place is bleeding authentic spices and seasoning. I had the Jamaican/bbq chicken over dirty rice. That dirty rice is dirtyyyy delicious. Chicken was very tender and I love dark meat! The cabbage was a little too cooked for me but it was seasoned excellently. The cornbread was HEAVEN, so fluffy and sweet, it helped balanced the saltier portions. I will be going back to this place to try the other meats and sides for sure. read more

I was told they have 2 types of oxtail, i decided on mixing the two. One was a little spicy compared to the other. My entire meal was bursting with FLAVOR!! Oxtails tend to have a lot of fat sometimes. These do, but they are bigger than most so I felt it was still enough meat. I was asked if I wanted gravy on my oxtails. I told the owner daughter she could decide for me. I noticed she decided not to add gravy. Not sure the reason but it may have been for the best. Hello it's me again, this time in Ft Worth TX. A co worker and I stopped by this place for lunch one day! A bit of advice, calling to place an order at lunch time is not the thing to do. We work 2.5 miles from the place and with stop lights and traffic it took about 10 mins to get there. I was on hold the entire time while traveling to the spot. Finally we got there and walked in and I hung up.... Let me be clear, that was the only small issue we faced! The location is on Ft Worth's South side, but that's fine FT is not too much different than Dallas so it was ok. The place inside was clean, nothing to brag about but if you wanted to sit and eat there is room and again it's a clean place. I do wish we could have nice place to eat like some other ethnic groups, but that's a story for a different day! Ok ok ok. I know you are reading for the food! The food was AMAZING!!! seriously the food was really good. They have Jerk Oxtails and they have me favorite, Jerk Chicken. The sauce in the regular oxtails and the jerk oxtail sauce is good too. The Jerk Chicken and sauce was ....... STOP!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh... ok sorry I had a moment! The sauce and chicken was very good and cooked to perfection! The veggies were good as well. The plantains was just as good as getting them in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, or The Dominican Republic! The only small issue is the cabbage was rushed and slightly under cooked, but if you eat cold slaw then you wouldn't notice it being a little stiff. Where to begin? I'm a tour guide and escorted a small group who were in Dallas attending the 71st AKA Boule on a Fort Worth African-American heritage tour today. Needing to stop for lunch, I reached out to a friend for a recommendation of a Black-owned restaurant in historic Southside. I checked in with Stephanie last week and she was happy to accommodate our group. Nineteen of us had an absolutely WONDERFUL lunch there today ... we all tried something different and no one was disappointed. It's a tiny, unassuming place but WOW! Everything was awesome--from the food, the staff, the prices, the menu options. We could not have made a better choice!
