My husband and I dined here on 6/23 at lunchtime. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We shared a small Shrimp Gumbo. It was authentic and delicious. We both ordered a lunch entree of Fried Catfish and Fried Shrimp. Both were wonderful. The catfish was plump and perfectly cooked. The shrimp were not overly cooked but beautifully prepared and so tasty. The Hushpuppies were awesome too!!! I was so thrilled that they didn't add jalapeños. We loved the decor and we were especially pleased to see a display of the uplifting bible verses. They also offered a Veteran discount. As a disabled senior citizen I'm particularly conscientious of the chairs at restaurants. However, since the Food, Service and Ambiance were all 1st class I'll just have to bring a chair cushion next time. I'm hoping that will be soon. read more

Yippee, a family food party! Such a fun place for good sea foods, kids play zones outside; and, feeding the ducks, turtles, fish is fun too. Wife and I had a blackened white fish plate, very good, slightly blackened. Sides of corn on the cob, with perfect spicy butter. And, red potato baked with butter. About 5 or 6 shrimp. All yummy. If you are someone who thinks pineapple should never be on a pizza, you will LOSE YOUR MIND when you order a po-boy here and find little pieces of pineapple on it. I wish I were kidding but I AM NOT. This place us just...odd. If you think you like Cajun food but have only a vague idea of what Cajun food is, this might be for you. Also - if you really are into listening to Christian music and seeing more Jesus decor than a Hobby Lobby, this also might be up your alley. As others have noted, the service is slow. The picnic-style tables are sticky and despite having a decent array of hot sauces, there was only a small bowl of ketchup packets on offer. Did I mention this place was odd? Anyway, the shrimp po-boy was was so much lost potential. It lacked pickles which was a huge miss, and I get that they want to class it up with the romaine, but traditionally one would go with shredded iceberg lettuce - THERE ARE RULES. We arrived during a rush and the line was long but it moved fairly quick. Outside seating was available we choose inside seating as it was cooler with much more space available. There is also a private dining area for groups. We always eat light after 7pm so we stuck to the plan and had the small shrimp and catfish baskets . Seasoning was good, batter ok but there was more crust than meat on the catfish fillets. Nice place however food was overcooked. Will be great place in spring or fall to sit out on the patio area overlooking the large pond. We ordered the double lobster tails and boiled shrimp and fried crawfish tails. The crawfish tails are listed as an appetizer so we anticipated they would come out 1st. However they were served with our main dish. Crawfish tails were luke warm telling us they sat for a while and they were tough. On a bright side there was a large amount of tails to the order. The lobster tails were overcooked because the meat of the tail was stuck to the shells and lost pieces of valuable meat to the shell. I like that the shrimp were served shell off. The shrimp were cooked well. Side note: the melted butter was either not heated enough or sat too long on the serving tray because it was congealing before we finished eating. Overall we were disappointed because we had high expectations for both a new seafood and cajan restaurant in Keller. We may give Te'jan another chance in the fall when temps drop and see how recent reviews go. read more

Good food, service and the place is huge which is perfect for large groups and families. They have private areas too if you need to hold a gathering. Kids really enjoyed feeding the turtles and fish in the pond. It's nice they have a patio and small playscape too. I hope they add a Cajun style pasta with seafood or chargrilled oysters one day. Stopped by on a weeknight to see what all the hype was about. It's a big dining room and definitely has the swamp/southern coast feeling inside. I ordered the fried fish basket that comes with hush puppies and fries. My wife ordered the snow crab legs that came with shrimp, potatoes and corn on the cob. My fish was good but could have used a little more seasoning/spices. The cook was good though. The fries were good and had plenty of seasoning. The space is new and clean, plenty of parking. You order your food at the counter when you walk in. Loved that they had a playground for the kids and the patio was great for the kids to enjoy feeding the fish and turtle. However, there was some miscommunication between whether reservations were allowed. When we called, we were told there were no reservations. When we arrived, there were tables reserved for another party and were told we should've called for a reservation if we had a large party next time. Luckily, it was pretty empty when we arrived so we just found other tables to sit at (by the way, we were there for at least 2 hours and the reserved party never showed up within that time so they didn't need to move us!) If you're like us and are used to Louisiana or Viet Cajun styles, this IS NOT IT. The fried trio platter was your typical fried platter. I did like the option to try the fried Gator tails but at least 2 of the 6 pieces were just fat or ligaments so we couldn't eat those. Our platter was also missing a hushpuppy but it was too much of a hassle to go back to the counter to just get one. For the boils, it tasted like they were just all boiled in salt and you are given the seasoning to put on afterwards. The seasonings are basic seafood seasonings at varying spice levels, but with it already tasting like they were boiled in salt, the seasonings made it taste saltier. But since you had to add your own seasonings AFTERWARDS to get more flavor, you have to choose between flavor or more salt. The beignets were pretty dry and dense - don't compare these to NOLA Cafe du Monde beignets or you'll be disappointed. Overall, the space is great for families and if you're getting fried meals, it's okay. If you're used to boiled seafood being a particular way, I would look for other seafood locations. read more

I am super impressed with this new Keller restaurant! The first time we came it was midweek and not that busy. It was nice to take it all in. Love the decor of the Bible verses on the wall etc and the music choices. Ordered the fish with corn and potatoes. So GOOD! Then we came on a Friday night and the place was hopping! Longer line and it took longer to get food but it came hot and fresh. All of us enjoyed our meal. Ila's busy as it was I do wish that I could order beignets and then pick up after I finished eating. We did order 1 banana pudding that was pretty runny not set up (we have previously eaten before and it was wonderful) and I kept an eye on the line getting shorter when I finished eating to go order the beignets. I still had to wait in line for about 8 minutes. There ought to be another game plan for those. I will say well worth the wait because they were so light and fluffy!! Our table enjoyed them. I remembered this food truck and was looking forward to their opening. It's a beautiful building with outdoor seating a children's play area. Matches perfectly with the menu. Very family friendly. The tables are perfect with shell buckets built in the middle. We both had the best seller. The potato's are very nice size. Cooked well, firm and buttery. The corn was sweet and drenched in butter. The crab was sweet and easy to crack so you know it's cooked well. The lobster was a 3-4 ounce size, skewered, in shell. The shrimp are on the smaller size with tails still on but a very nice portion. Plenty of garlic butter and seasoning right in your container but it's offered with two additional butters and a cocktail sauce. I loved the garlic butter but wasn't a fan of the cocktail sauce. I'm a bit of a ketchup snob so if it's not made with Heinz I'm not likely going to like it. I won't even order fries if the restaurant doesn't serve Heinz ketchup. Over all a great first visit and will definitely return. Price point is very reasonable for what you're getting. read more

This time I got a 12 oz crab gumbo which was wonderful. It had the best flavor! And so much crab meat in it! We also got an order of the boudin balls, I wish they had a little bit more flavor but the sauce that comes with them is wonderful. I stopped in there to get some fried shrimp. I ordered the small shrimp plate. It takes a minute for them to prepare it so it's just five minute wait or so. You're given a pager to let you know when your food is ready. And it's hot!! While you're waiting, you can go out on the back deck and enjoy the nice fresh air and look at the turtles in the water. There's a bathroom off the deck so you don't have to go back inside. Also a fish food dispenser if you want to feed the fish. If you have children with you there is a play area to the right side of the building if you're facing it. But it's not connected to the deck. There's also a drive-through that's on the left side of the building. When you enter, it is a big welcoming space with ample seating whether it's for one person or a group. There's also a handwashing station should you need one. I highly recommend this place. read more

Previously gave them a 5 star rating, but the mighty have fallen. Both take out meals were contaminated with live fruit flies (2-3 per meal). I didn't notice until my wife pointed them out and I'd already eaten 2 shrimp. I'm a fan of extra protein but I draw the line at consuming insects, and I'm not a fan of consuming food that served as a habitat for them. At minimal a restaurant should be able to produce food that is insect-free in a developed country. I guess I should have read their health department inspection deficiencies that mentioned insects. Since these flies vector Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria, I'm crossing my fingers that illness isn't in my near future. Notice that the owner only comments on the positive reviews and ignores the ones that are critical. This speaks volumes. read more

Looks like they have a daily special too, and some of these are smoking deals -- 1 lbs of crab legs for $24? Don't mind if I do... I ordered crab legs and added peeled shrimp. The food is served in to-go style containers, but they are loaded. Mine had at least 4 or 5 full leg clusters, potato and corn on the cob. It was lightly seasoned, not overly spicy. They have additional spices (mild and hot) and hot sauce you can add if you'd like. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Crab was fresh and steamed properly, corn was perfectly steamed and the potato was soft and buttery. I wish they offered it in a bag with sauce like other crab spots, but that's just what I prefer...this was still good...and the price point was great for what you get. After asking to have fries that were hot they provided brand new meals - appreciated but only fries were required. It took Forever for new food to arrive. Shrimp étouffée was not what I expected.. shrimp was over cooked hard and bouncy .. sauce was salty and the rice underneath was in big clumpy clumps and the texture was so off!!
