Doc's was horrible. They did work that I didn't ask to be done. They didn't fix the problem. When I refused to not pay for the work that wasn't authorized they threatened to call the police. Totally overpriced. This place is the poster child for bad mechanics. If you take your car to this place you are begging to be ripped off. read more

I went to Doc's after getting an estimate from every other place in the area for a replacement bumper for my 2006 Buick Lucerne. His estimate was at least $300 less than every other place I asked. After dropping it off, we found out the grill needed to be replaced too, as well as the fender had a small dent in it that was scraping against the passenger front door. because of this the time it took to finish the car was extended by only by two days (excluding Sunday). When I got the final bill it was still $100 lower than every places estimate only for the original bumper replacement. The final product is great. The color match is exact and you can't even tell there was ever damage where the fender was realigned and painted. The car looks perfect. Doc was honest with us about what needed to be done and did not do anything that didn't need to be done giving us a more than reasonable price in the end. My daughter and family live here and I was supposed to leave to go back to the Los Angeles area yesterday July 4th and had brake problems. Now I'm leaving a day later and have a long drive to get back on time for work. I showed up at opening and he took me right away. As I waited I saw numerous customers all treated as friends and respect for their needs. He is absolutely honest and really does care. Usually putting the words 'auto repair' and 'honesty' in the same sentence would be deemed the epitome of an oxymoron. Not in Doc's case ... believe me! My husband has poor health and I'm 'it' for all things now, including auto maintenance/repair. Thankfully when we moved to the Mill Creek area I found Doc and he's the most honest, considerate, above-board mechanic I've ever met in all my 60+ years. I usually have my oil changed at one of those oil change 'specialists' ... Doc said that was fine, but if ever they wanted me to do more work than just an oil change, to let him know. A couple of weeks ago that very occasion arose and the oil change people 'suggested' I should have another $600 (approximately) in other services done. I didn't do it and took the paperwork to Doc for him to look over. In addition to Doc saving me over $500 ... get this: The oil change place said I needed 'rear differential service.' Apparently that's sometimes necessary on a four-wheel drive vehicle. MY vehicle is a TWO-wheel drive and doesn't even HAVE a 'rear differential.' Need I say more? You have to know with whom you're doing business and for my money (and I have a bit more in my pocket thanks to Doc), Doc's Auto Center is the place to go for ALL your auto needs. I've been pretty fortunate to drive newer cars so I have only been going to dealerships of late to get warranty work completed or regularly scheduled maintenance. With that said, I've recently inherited an older SUV and didn't have a clue where to take it. I knew dealerships were going to be expensive because the warranty has long past, but I wanted to keep this car. After browsing google and yelp, I came across Doc's page and noticed the incredibly high amount of positive reviews so I stopped by. Doc and his team are AMAZING. Friendly, polite, and incredibly honest. I told Doc to go ahead and add on some extra services because I didn't know the maintenance history on the car, and he was like "nah, you don't need it. Update: I ordered my airbox on the internet, and as Doc said, save the money and install it myself. Part was less than $60 on ebay. I went back to Doc's today, and he cleared my check engine light without charging. Then I asked for an estimate on my suspension replacement. He rocked the pickup on both sides, and asked why I wanted to replace. Well, my last 2 mechanics recommended it. He shook his head no...adding that it is still in good shape. Then he recommended a local place that only does lube/oil/filter changes. I mean...who works honestly like this!? Doc's Auto Center does. Doc is honest and has integrity. Doc's is the absolute greatest. I have taken 2 cars I was considering buying here and couldn't be more impressed. Their pricing is fantastic, their work is quick yet thorough, and after the inspection Doc walked me through the ENTIRE thing top to bottom. He listened to all of my concerns and answered all my questions in a way I could understand, told me his own concerns, and gave me estimates of how much repairs would be so I could take a list to the dealership. I took my SUV here about a month ago because it wouldn't start. I figured it had something to do with the spark plugs and didn't have time to mess with it myself. Doc returned to me a running car with a laundry list of things that needed to be done to it, which was fair enough, but two weeks later my car wouldn't start again. My car has been back at this auto shop for two weeks now and I hadn't heard a thing from them, so I called yesterday afternoon to find out what was going on. The receptionist wasn't even aware if my car was in, and said she'd call back. She called back at 5pm, when they close, and left a message saying they were now closed, call back tomorrow. ... I called back and she said she had left a message. She left a message saying to call back.... so I am, that's what I did and what I was doing. Doc was with another customer, fair enough, but when I asked if he could give a ring whenever he was done she asked for me to call back in about half an hour. Doc claims that once you go to him, you always go back. The only reason my car is there the second time around is because he obviously didn't do something the first time and now I'm expecting either a free repair or a refund on everything but the cost of the stupid spark plugs he put in. Two weeks and they didn't call about my car and when I call back, I'm getting a run around. I call them back and Doc says my car needs new spark plugs. ....He replaced them two weeks before my car stopped starting again. So now I'm looking for a new mechanic. Don't go to Doc unless you want to end up back where you started. read more

We had an emergency with the fan belt having broken. It just so happened that our Toyota Sienna gave up right at Doc's back door. Cameron, Doc's guy, was so kind and helpful. I feel like I've finally found the mechanic I've wanted in Bothell for a decade. My car died on the highway. We got it to the park and ride and called doc. He had it towed in, no must no fuss. From my description of the problem, he diagnosed it and then gave me an estimate that was less than half what i expecting. I had the same problem 5 years earlier and paid more than twice as much. I called around town to find a shop to do my spark plugs and non of them were available for at least a weak so I called Doc and he said he could do it next day. So I brought in my 2012 Ecoboost F-150 FX4 to swap out my spark plugs with iridium ones. (I bought the plugs) And foolishly I forgot to say what gap I wanted on my plugs. I thought I could make it work but my truck wasn't running as well as it should be so I called him the next day asking if he would be willing to regap the plugs for free and he said that would be no problem. When I brought the truck in his technicians took a plug out and realized I had bought spark plugs that can't be custom gapped. So they ran a diagnostics test to see if there was anything wrong then they reset my computer. When I picked the truck up, I could instantly feel the throttle response was faster and smoother. Then when I got on the road my MPG shot up to 20 instead of 15 like before the plugs. It turns out that I didn't need them re gapped but to have the computer reset so that there was no learning curve that can take weeks for the computer to adjust to. The whole time Doc was kind and courteous, he even agreed to fix something that wasn't his fault for free. Highly recommend this place! read more

Big thanks to Doc and the team for taking care of my Nissan! It was overheating badly, and they found the cause, which took some doing. Apparently, there were multiple failures behind the situation. Because of that, I waited a month before writing a review, as I wanted to see if the issue was fully resolved. After five weeks, I can report that the car is running fine with no overheating. Doc's is a small, family-run shop in the Bothell-Everett area near Thrasher's Corner. His son, Damon, is a technician there, and his wife, Cher, runs the office. They also have a certified master technician, Cameron, who handles most of the mechanical and electrical work. And of course, there is Doc, who wears many hats: owner, manager, technician, customer service guru. Originally from Hawaii, Doc and his family embody that famous mahalo spirit. They treat you like family. If you are there during lunchtime, you might even get fed - I got a bao bun and some noodle stir fry. Good stuff! But none of that would matter much if they didn't know what they were doing in the shop. I can say from first-hand observation that the techs, Damon and Cameron, definitely do. There was a separate problem with one of the windows, and Damon very quickly disassembled the inside door panel, cleaned out the window tracks, and returned the window to its proper position. I was in the shop, and the speed and efficiency with which he performed the repair - let's just say that he made it look so easy, but of course, it's not for someone without his level of expertise. Cameron was the one who worked on the overheating issue. He was able to determine the root cause involving the IPDM unit and air pockets in the coolant system. Even some of the people at the dealer parts department did not know what the IPDM was. Cameron talked them through ordering the correct part. I also saw him performing some of the diagnostics; just like Damon, he made the process look easy. He was very patient, explaining how the IPDM caused the problem. The man just knew, even before the original diagnostics were finished, that the IPDM would be the cause, and he was right! That's why he's the master tech! I'd recommend them without reservation. You and your car will be in great hands with Doc and his team. read more

I just had work done on my 2002 Passat and could not be happier. Doc the owner was gracious, professional and a true master of his art, for restoring my cars body to like new condition. He and his team are perfectionists. I had back bumper and trunk face replaced repaired and repainted. Body work perfect. Paint perfect. Also side molding keyed scratches and front bumper repaired and touched up. Front bumper adjusted. They worked in 90 degree heat for me to get my car done so I could go to work. PS. I came to Doc's after getting burnt out with another local garage's refusal to address my truck's stalling problem and their rude treatment. My truck had a faulty ignition switch that cause problems with starting and occasional stalls. When I first visited Doc, he told me suspected it was the ignition switch, but he couldn't reproduce it himself (it only happened occasionally). He also said he wasn't willing to just throw a part in unless he was sure it was causing the problem. Happy that he wasn't just trying to get my money, I came back a couple weeks later after the problem progressed. Doc saw the symptoms which confirmed his suspicions. He replaced the switch and my truck has ran great since. He even kept the old part to show me what was wrong with it. I was a bit shocked because I'd never dealt with a friendly, honest mechanic before. I'll definitely go back to Doc if I have anymore problems with my automobiles. Although hesitant to fix my car due to my insurance company not willing to pay for a dealer part, Doc agreed to fix my bumper, that was damaged from a raccoon. Doc has been servicing our 5 cars for years. He is an excellent and trustworthy mechanic and also does expert body repairs. You will be hard pressed to have better body repair work done anywhere else and based on 4 body repair estimates I got, he was the best price. For a repair, 3 other top yelp body shops gave an estimate of $1500_$1700. Doc did it for $800. He is a craftsman and remolded the damaged front panel rather than replace it like everyone else was going to do. It looks perfect and we got the car back 2 days earlier than the other shops quoted. Saved me some serious heartache when purchasing a used car from Brooks Biddle Automotive. The dealership had concealed damage to a vehicle that had been in a very serious accident and had extensive damage. Car had a clear Carfax, dealership listed it as no accident vehicle, yet someone had spray painted damaged undercarriage and done half assed repairs, enough to conceal from inspection everything short of putting it on a lift.
