I can't say enough good things about Doc, his team and their work. I have an '04 Tacoma that was having issues starting (turned over no problem just wouldn't idle, was intermittent and had the issue for nearly 2 years) I had gone to two different dealerships, two other mechanic shops and tried replacing simple parts and cleanings myself, but to no avail. My truck was towed to Doc's after it finally gave out and wouldn't start, on a recommendation by the tow driver and I couldn't of found a better place. Doc was upfront, polite and genuine. He offered his services with no up selling, went with the obvious, listened to what had already been done to try to correct the issue, and offered lower cost fixes to be sure he wasn't just wasting my money and throwing parts at it. After a diagnostic and conferring with his team they got no error codes (like the dealerships and other repair shops) but Doc saw the issue and knew it needed more investigation. He and his team deduced from what I had already had done (throttle body cleanings, small replacements, etc) that they needed to check the major components. They found the problem no one else would even bother to investigate: the air idle intake valve (During my researching online I had informed the dealership and one of the other mechanics that the valve could be the issue and they wouldn't even bother to physically check it because they didn't get an error code from their computer system). Doc and his team replaced the valve and my truck has been running perfectly since (service done in October). Doc is also very fair with his prices, didn't over charge me and even gave me a break on labor cost. I paid Doc less then a third of what I was quoted for the repair by the dealership (if they were willing to actually replace the part). Any future issues with my truck or other vehicles, I'm going straight back to Doc's! read more

I hit my car door (2018 Subaru Forester) on my garage door rail when it is still open. The door rim got mis-shaped, and the door is hard to close. Unfortunately, I did not buy collision insurance. So I have to pay out-of my pocket. If I drive it by my self, I will not mind to fix it. But my young kid sit at back, so I worries about the safety. I first called my dealer, and they recommend a few body shops. They said they are all chain body shops. I visited them in past few days for repair estimation. In each shop, I only got chance to meet their representatives (not mechanics), he/she just take cameras to take a bunch of pictures and then told me they will send estimation through e-mail. They won't tell you how they are going to fix it in the first place. After I got their estimation, they only put one option of replacing the entire door, which will cost me a fortune. I decided to search on-line to see if I can find any private owned body shop with true nice mechanic. I am lucky to find Doc's Auto Center with very high score review. I visited his shop this Saturday. I explained my situation. After inspection, Mr. Doc said he can help me with two options, one is functional fix with really low cost (align the door and recover mis-shaped part), and it only need one day. This probably will leave some dent but should not that bad because it is at the edge of the door. The second one is to make the door looks perfect but cost more than the first option. And it will take five days. Even the second option actually costs much less than other shop's estimation. Mr. Doc gave more confidence in his knowledge, judgement, and consideration. In his shop, you will find that you are working with a real mechanic not dealing with a sale person. I will recommend you come to this shop if you need a real help. read more

This has been an amazing experience at an auto center. My check engine light had came on but went off. I never could get my car heated during the cold weather. There would only be a little heat coming out, also the car would "choke-up" when going over a small hill. This morning things came to a head. My check engine light came on and stayed on. I noticed that the gauge was going toward hot and I feared the car was overheating. I took the car home and immediately got on the Internet to find someone to repair my car. I saw some places close to my house but I kept going back to Doc's Auto Center. The reviews were wonderful and I took a chance having being new to Washington. I called Doc and he told me to come in. He was very pleasant and caring. He checked my car and gave me the results which was something that I was not expecting. However, having a car over 10 years old I was thankful that it wasn't something more serious. He quoted me a price and stated that he would fix it that day since being a teacher I needed to be at school the next day. He brought me home so that I didn't have to wait. Later that afternoon I received a call stating that he would be over to pick me up and bring me back to his shop. When I arrived there were no hidden fees and the price he quoted earlier was fair and what I paid. I am highly blessed that I found Doc and he was able to fix and return my car the same day. I will forever be grateful to him for his kindness and honesty. I asked if I could give him a hug. When you find a good mechanic, you don't go anywhere else! Words cannot express how grateful we are to Doc! Our van started dying on I-5 near 45th in Seattle. We called Doc and explained what was going on. He recommended we get off the road to the nearest mechanic before we got stranded. Well, we got off the phone, and my husband and I looked at each other and agreed we'd rather chance getting to Bothell than take our van to anyone else. We got off the freeway, and sure enough, the van died on Lake City Way. We called a tow truck and had the van towed to Doc's. We called him on the way, and he was able to order a new alternator that night and fix it the next day, despite a heavy workload already! Other services he has performed for us over the years include a paint job on our Saturn before selling it. It was on the door, and was such a small space that blending it without having to pain the fender was tricky....but not impossible for Doc! He's also fixed a gouge in our bumper from a fender bender (flawlessly!), buffed out kid scratches on our van, and got another year out of our battery so we wouldn't have to replace it right away. Doc is hard working and honest. He will not sell you parts and service if you don't need it. He doesn't have hidden fees when you pick up your vehicle, and his pricing is more than reasonable. As a female, I fit the stereotype and dislike having to deal with car issues. But I never feel taken advantage of or belittled when I call or bring my vehicle in. I cannot say enough good things about Docs Auto Body Shop. This morning my car started making this terrible sound, going in and out of parking lots or slow busy roads EVERYONES head was turning with a look on there face like "wtf is that noise?!"; I don't know very much about cars, my boyfriend is a trained mechanic but is a construction worker who works 12+ hours a day and doesn't have a lot of time to look at my car. So in my panic I went to Docs and explained to him the issue, he asked why my boyfriend doesn't just fix it and I explained, so he told me to just bring my car around. As soon as I parked he came out and told me its my brakes, he then checked each of them out and told me the front ones were fine but the rear ones needed new pads and rotors. I was relieved it wasn't something huge but I was expecting him to try to sell me on him doing it, as every shop before has done. Instead he told me that I should just buy the pads and rotors myself and have my boyfriend do it, so that I save money. He told me that my car is safe to drive for a few days until the weekend when my boyfriend has time to do it. I thanked him and was still expecting him to charge me for the inspection, but nope! No charge! and did I mention there was no wait whatsoever? He came out and talked to me and immediately helped me out. I couldn't be happier with my experience. If I have any more problems that my boyfriend can't fix, I will be bringing my car here. read more

Great experience. My teen daughter had a minor accident that pushed in the front grill and popped our car hood up about 2 inches. I had brought the car into another shop and was told that the repairs could be several thousand dollars so was anxious about not being able to tell what was actually damaged and having a shop just run up my bill. Doc listened to me and did a great job explaining what the damage could be and my options. When I said I didn't need the car to look like new but wanted it drivable, safe, and looking better he took care of me. He hooked it up to a machine that pulled the hood out back to nearly new, got it to latch ok, fixed the front grill and inspected the engine and didn't find any issues with the A/C, radiator, etc. Also took a look at an old ding in the back bumper and was able to heat it up and pop the dent out. I am a very satisfied customer. I received terrific service and solid output from Doc, and at a price much lower than the other place. Doc runs his business by being up front and honest with customers coupled with solid work at a good price. I will definitely refer him to anyone needing body work, and am so glad I found a auto shop for any future scrapes! read more

I could give 6 stars if yelp allowed! The nearby Firestone Auto Center detected a 'Valve cover leaking oil onto spark plug tube seals' and tried to sell me a $1350+ job for replacing the valve cover (including a $500 job to replace spark plugs!). I was also told I needed to do this ASAP otherwise my Christmas trip would be a disaster if the valve leak spoiled the engine midway into my Trip. Anytime a mechanic tells you to do a costly repair ASAP, it's a sign for you to pause, breathe, and then run the hell away from that place. Called up Doc.. fixed an early morning appointment today. He hoisted up the van and found the whole bay 'dry as a bone'! No need to replace anything. While it was up, he also checked transmission case, diffs, the brakes, struts, and the fluid levels. He topped up the coolant too. Saved me thousands of $$$. Next time around, I will take it to doc for a quick check instead of cheaping it out at Firestone for their $10 check! Thanks Doc! P.S: Be nice and compensate them for their time when they tell your vehicle is fine and needs no costly jobs/repairs. I heard about Doc's Auto Center through my buddy. He referred me to Doc's and said they guy was exceptionally good! I was hesitant to call just because I had a couple difficult situations with some very rude people at other car places that day, but I took the advice of our friend and called Doc up. Thank goodness I did!! Doc's Auto was immediately helpful! You can tell it's a family owned and operated business, which I love, and they really take care of their customers. From the first phone conversation all the way to when I picked my car up, I felt like I was being taken care of with amazing service! Doc was a straight shooter, he told me upfront costs and walked me through everything. Something came up with my car while he was working on it and Doc kept me in the loop along the way and even called me to go over a couple different options. If you want a really great mechanic then you need to go to Docs. My car been having some issues especially over heating so I went to Docs after seeing so many positive reviews. He got my car in right away. I explain I am on a budget. Doc was very understanding and worked out a plan to stay in my budget. Doc would explain things as he went thru my car what needed to be fixed. Other shops I been to tell me I need this and that replace and Doc was honest and told me I didn't need to replace some things that I was told to replace. That really means a lot to me. Anytime I have a problem I stop by Docs and he always takes the time to come out and look at my car and answers any of my questions I may have without an appointment. We had someone lined up to fix some dents and scratches on our car, but after our calls weren't returned- we were forced to find someone else in a short time frame. I found Doc's by looking online for a good auto body repair shop in Bothell. Because ratings were high, I gave them a call and set an appointment. Doc was very friendly and down to earth and took a good look at my car to see what kind of work needed to be done. I told him my budget and he agreed to stick to it. When it came time to pick up the car, I didn't expect that it would look as good as it did. I was blown away! Doc went above and beyond and got it done in the time frame we needed it done by. The charge for the work was exactly what we had budgeted. It's a rare thing these days to find someone sticks to their word and doesn't try to make extra money off people when fixing their car. Long overdue review - Doc has helped me with 2 cars and was fantastic in both very different situations. My first car I brought it was a loss, but at the beginning he prepared me with what could be wrong with it and what he'd be doing to the car, and how he could keep it within my budget of what needs to be done to it. This is honest shop. He called me shortly into the service that I shouldn't put more money into the car for what it would give me in the long run. I took his advice and had gotten a new car that some time later had a fender bender. In my panic of where to even bring my car and what to do, it came to me clearly that Doc's was the only place I want to go to. He worked with us for our schedules to get the car looked at and dropped off, and kept us in the loop. Even when my car required more work than what was originally able to be seen, he honored his quote. I live 40 miles out now and don't intend on ever going to a different shop. I used to take my cars to Northwest Automotive, but their Bothell location closed during the pandemic. A couple of weeks ago, I went to a different auto shop in Bothell to get my alternator replaced which cost over $1,400 on a 2008 Dodge. When I went to pick it up, they said my car needed $4,100 dollars more engine and suspension work. The repair estimate was worth more than my car!! Instead of going back to those thieves, I called Raoul from Northwest Auto for guidance and he highly recommended Doc's Auto Center. After Doc's assessment (which he discounted), he pointed out the critical problems with my car and saved me around $3K. Doc even replaced my windshield for a low price and got my car back to me in two days. He is honest, professional, fast, and caring. Now Doc's Auto Center is my new auto shop. Was told by Mazda we needed full brakes done, rotors and all. Was told our pads were at 5 & 6mm and that our rotors were damaged and our rear pads were installed backwards. We were worried and confused knowing we have had our brakes inspected every year and no problems so we wanted a second opinion. We Called Doc Auto last night expecting a voicemail for shop hours but Doc answered and to our surprise he asked if we could drop it off in the morning. He called and let us know our brakes are fine unless we have symptoms they do not need anything at this time. He said they still have 50% & 40%! What great news! To think we were about to have Mazda do the work yesterday since my car was already there! Yikes! We so appreciate Docs 2nd opinion and how fast he could get us in. I stopped to get a coffee on the way to work and when I came out my car wouldn't start! Sadly I know virtually nothing about cars. Fortunately, I was next to Doc's. I walked over and despite being fully booked they were happy to help. I had to wait just a little bit and while I was waiting I saw Doc interact with several customers. He was knowledgeable, understanding and helpful. In the end my battery was toast but they got me up and running and on my way in no time. I was only 20 minutes late for work! I've always been nervous working with mechanics since I come to the table with no knowledge. They took care of me at Doc's and charged me a very reasonable price. I had recently had a clutch installed, at another location, so when my clutch pedal went down to the floor (and stayed there), I knew something else was wrong. Doc is such a great and honest mechanic! My warning light came on for my transmission Christmas Eve night. I called Doc Monday morning and he was able to get me in that same day despite his very busy schedule. He was able to diagnose and fix my problem within an hour. It's true, I'll be a customer of Doc's for life! I recently needed front end body work done. Doc was upfront about what needed to be repaired and despite the fact that my Honda civic was close to being totaled, he advised me that it was worth repairing because the rest of The car was sound and Honda's are good long term cars. I took my car to Infiniti of Lynnwood to have a routine oil change and was shocked when they told me I had $3500 worth of work needed to be done. I had my transmission flushed few month's prior at Nissan and nothing was mentioned about any leaks. I immediately called Doc's Auto Center for 2nd opinion and explained Infiniti of Lynnwood told me I had leaks in my transmission, oil and coolant. He did a thorough check and I have absolutely no leaks in those mentioned area's. I will never go back to Infiniti of Lynnwood for any work on my car again.
