Doc has been servicing our 5 cars for years. He is an excellent and trustworthy mechanic and also does expert body repairs. You will be hard pressed to have better body repair work done anywhere else and based on 4 body repair estimates I got, he was the best price. For a repair, 3 other top yelp body shops gave an estimate of $1500_$1700. Doc did it for $800. He is a craftsman and remolded the damaged front panel rather than replace it like everyone else was going to do. It looks perfect and we got the car back 2 days earlier than the other shops quoted. Saved me some serious heartache when purchasing a used car from Brooks Biddle Automotive. The dealership had concealed damage to a vehicle that had been in a very serious accident and had extensive damage. Car had a clear Carfax, dealership listed it as no accident vehicle, yet someone had spray painted damaged undercarriage and done half assed repairs, enough to conceal from inspection everything short of putting it on a lift. I'm used to the upsell because I'm female and there was none of that. Went in fully expecting to be told I needed frame work(hit a huge pothole) and new breaks. Doc and his uneducated "technicians" have destroyed my Mini!!! Not only did they leave old gaskets in my car when they were replacing the clutch and flywheel which caused massive oil leaks, they also broke one of my ball bearings when putting the car back together. Now that my car is unsafe to drive and I have to purchase a new one because of this, I am reporting him to the better business bureau and he is fully aware of this. Later on this year I will see what I can do about punitive and physical damages that had forced me to drive an unsafe car. read more

What a great experience! First, I drop my car off early in the AM, Doc gives me a ride back to work (I work down the street) - absolutely thoughtful and even gave me free car advice! Then calls me to let me know when my car is done to find it has been washed on top of a really smoking deal for a 60,000 check-up and oil change. We were referred with rave reviews to Doc's by a brake shop here in Bothell. We have been fortunate to not have to work with an Auto center because my husband always had a company car that was always traded in every two years, but my parents just gave our 16 year daughter their 95 Toyota Corolla. It has over 200K miles on it. Doc got the screeches to stop and made sure the car was running well and was safe for our daughter to drive. He took great car of us and it was a pleasure meeting his family as well. Very nice people who treat you like you were their only customer. That is how I like to do business. Doc and his team are like real-life wizards, and they are definitely artists. Even after Doc showed me everything they planned to do to fix the damage on my vehicle, I didn't understand how they could do it. When I got the car back, I was blown away. The quality of work was impeccable, but Doc actually felt he could have done better so he charged less than the quoted price (these guys are perfectionists!). This place is AWESOME! Super friendly; fair; and good workmanship. Doc was extremely helpful repairing my truck. I had all internal damage to my truck and needed to replace the door paneling, weather stripping, seat belts and a head rest. I decided to buy all the parts from the dealership instead of going with an auto body shop through my insurance, and was having trouble finding someone to install the parts. I called Doc's on Thursday, set up an appointment on Friday and had the work done by the end of Saturday. And he only charged me what the insurance quoted for labor costs. I have been going to Doc's for about 15 years now. I have brought various cars there from beaters (my son's car) to better cars. He has always told me the truth when other mechanics didn't always. He has always gone the extra mile for me and when he could, he saved me $$$. I had a transmission go out and knowing that I didn't have a lot of cash at the time, he even went over to Pay and Pack and found one. When I got new tires and the mechanic said I needed new shocks, Doc set me straight (What??? You don't need new shocks, you need an alignment). If you have a new car under warranty, taking it to the dealer makes sense. But if you don't and you want to keep your car rolling for a reasonable cost, Doc's is the only place to go. I recently purchased a 2003 Jaguar S-Type from Brooks Biddle in Bothell. I live in Seattle and my mechanic is in the u-district, close to where I live. I wanted to have a complete inspection, but needed to do so closer to the dealership I was purchasing the car from in Bothell. Per previous reviews on yelp for Brooks Biddle Automotive, I found Doc. And wow. Let me just say that I called Doc about an hour prior to going to the dealership and started by saying, "I know this is a long shot, but I am looking at a car in Bothell in the next hour and was wondering if there was anyway I could bring the car to you today to do a complete inspection?" He did not even hesitate and said, "Sure, just call me when you're on your way." I later found out that Doc's shop was usually closed during the time I was bringing the car by and that he had kept the shop open just for me, a person he didn't even know! The inspection he gave was so thorough. He gave me the whole history of the car and pointed out things that I, my husband, nor the salesperson, would have ever noticed. He was polite, personable and respectful. I also thought he was funny, but that's not why he gets 5 stars. He gets 5 stars because he is truly the car whisperer. No joke. Thank you so much, Doc. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed and are beyond grateful for your level of service this past Saturday. read more

First off, I agree that the service was great. However, almost $200 (after tax) for an oil change for my 2010 lexus isn't that reasonable in my opinion. I went there to avoid what dealership charges for these maintenance services but was disappointed to get the bill (very similar to the dealership except I wasn't getting any amenities) for what was like 30-45 mins simple job. read more

Note: I did not get the work done here, I was completely put off by the rep on the phone that I had no courage left to go into the shop. I got into a minor fender bender and called them to to see if I need to make an appointment for a quote. I called them and the guy on the phone was completely unprofessional. He was rude (trying to to be tough dude) and mocked me by saying if I am bringing a Ferrari in (because I called in advance for an appointment and not walked in). This was enough to put me off, never going to deal with them again. A company that cant manage it customer service cannot be trusted with my car. read more

He's taken care of our family's cars over the years and has done an excellent job with all, from old beaters to new. I have known Doc for years, and have always had great engine work done by him. He also does body work, and when I was in a car accident last month, I called Doc first. I am so thankful I did! My insurance company was ready to total my car, but after the adjuster met with Doc, they agreed to fix it. It is beautiful!! I have been going to docs auto for about a decade now. And every time I have gone elsewhere I have been sorely disappointed. I have been spoiled by their genuinely friendly attitude and top notch service. I can always count on them to tell me exactly what is going on without fear that they are stretching the truth to sell service I don't need. Matter of fact, today I went to them and I explained how tight money was and how I needed a repair on my work truck. He gave me a fair price, but then asked if I was handy at all with a wrench. He proceeded to explain how simple the procedure was and the parts I would need. He is a life saver! Any other shop would have just done the work and charged me without much consideration of my situation. Now my truck does not leak power steering fluid everywhere and it only cost me 25 bucks! BEWARE!!!!! Do not take your car to Doc's Auto Center. He will rip you off! He screens his calls from customers that have follow up questions about their cars and since he can't make money off you over the phone he won't call you back. His estimates to fix your car change every time you talk to him, and he will refuse to finish the repairs to your car if you question the cost of the repair. I was thinking about purchasing a car from a private seller in the Mill Creek area. Although the seller stated the car was in excellent condition, I wanted to take it to an auto mechanic unknown to either of us for an honest inspection. And boy, am I glad I did. Long story short, I took the car into Docs with a last minute inspection request and had it inspected by Doc himself. This guy is simply amazing. He absolutely saved me from buying a potential lemon. I can't say enough good things about Doc, his team and their work. I have an '04 Tacoma that was having issues starting (turned over no problem just wouldn't idle, was intermittent and had the issue for nearly 2 years) I had gone to two different dealerships, two other mechanic shops and tried replacing simple parts and cleanings myself, but to no avail. My truck was towed to Doc's after it finally gave out and wouldn't start, on a recommendation by the tow driver and I couldn't of found a better place. Doc was upfront, polite and genuine. He offered his services with no up selling, went with the obvious, listened to what had already been done to try to correct the issue, and offered lower cost fixes to be sure he wasn't just wasting my money and throwing parts at it. After a diagnostic and conferring with his team they got no error codes (like the dealerships and other repair shops) but Doc saw the issue and knew it needed more investigation. He and his team deduced from what I had already had done (throttle body cleanings, small replacements, etc) that they needed to check the major components. They found the problem no one else would even bother to investigate: the air idle intake valve (During my researching online I had informed the dealership and one of the other mechanics that the valve could be the issue and they wouldn't even bother to physically check it because they didn't get an error code from their computer system). Doc and his team replaced the valve and my truck has been running perfectly since (service done in October). Doc is also very fair with his prices, didn't over charge me and even gave me a break on labor cost. I paid Doc less then a third of what I was quoted for the repair by the dealership (if they were willing to actually replace the part). Any future issues with my truck or other vehicles, I'm going straight back to Doc's! read more

Was referred to Doc a couple years ago and took a couple cars to him when I had some issues. Recently my car died on me so I took it to him to diagnose, called me and didn't tell me what the problem was "MAYBE" the ignition module or distributor. Told me it would be a 1000 to fix and it might not even get the car to start he recommended a day or so to figure out what I wanted to do. I told him I'll call him back if I wanted him to fix it otherwise I would sell it as is. Two days later I decided to sell it i give him a call and he has replaced the ignition module costing me 200. Mind you I DID NOT tell him to fix anything. Why would you replace something you weren't told to replace? Seems to me he wanted a quick buck, telling someone you're not sure if the cars worth fixing and then replacing something that didn't even solve the issue is a SCAM. he knew I was going to sell the car and just wanted a quick buck like I said. Both my wife & I needed autobody work done on our cars. One was an older GEO Prizm and the other a 2 year old Hyundai Elantra. Doc not only did the work on the Prizm at a far lower rate than any other shop, but he did it right then while we waited. He then went over the Elantra and gave us a firm price and set a date for it to get done. The finished job was exactly like new. We could not see from any view that work had been done. I have one older Buick that needs a little buffing out and it is next. We absolutely would not go anywhere else for service. A big plus is that Doc & Sharon are a delight to do business with! read more

It's really sad because we read the amazing reviews for this place and thought we found a great mechanic that wouldn't try to take advantage. We took our car in and Doc found the problem right away and fixed it that same day. The only thing was he did not fix it. I had to take the car back in. Doc then fixed some things without permission and charged me a huge fee on top of the already big fee I had to pay previously. When I questioned him about not getting permission he argued with me saying the car needed it done. The thing is that my husband could have changed the part he did saving us quite a bit of money. So beware. You may think you found a trustworthy mechanic but unfortunately no. You may find yourself having to pay $600! read more

Our family has patronized Doc's for years. We are since finding a new mechanic. I was forced to buy a new car while stationed in England-- what should have been a completely unnecessary expense-- because before my truck was shipped one of his mechanics loaded my manual transmission which needs heavy gear oil with thin automatic transmission fluid which has no weight. This destroyed my transmission and luckily I was able to salvage a few dimes out of an otherwise great truck from a coworker who made the discovery when he raised the truck and dropped the transmission. We got the truck new in 1989 and knew the entire history of an extraordinarily well-maintained 120,000 trouble-free miles. It was never hot-rodded or driven stressfully to bring on such an early failure of this core component. I called Doc on it and he came back at me saying you could use ATF in this type of transmission. These trucks came with either a mazda or a mitsubishi transmission and he didn't even bother to check even though my coworker was immediately able to tell me exactly what type it was and he had never worked on this type/year of vehicle before. It's great that soldiers don't sacrifice enough already, and don't have enough on their minds as it is to need this on top of it. I brought him another car and I'm being told by another mechanic that my lug nuts were completely the wrong type and had been over torqued. He said the maximum for aluminum wheels is 90 ft/lbs. Doc told me they use 130. This wasn't brought to my attention before I drove it away and the gaining mechanic called it dangerous. Now I have to replace wheel studs because of his incompetence. It would be nice for my wheels to fly off of my car while doing 60 on the freeway, huh? They didn't install my brake calipers correctly, and the gaining mechanic had to replace my brake hoses. Thanks a lot Doc! FAIL!! If you want to get gauged for shoddy dangerous mechanical work that could kill you and your family, and others' families, go to Doc. read more

Worst experience ever. Replaced an engine at 170,000 miles. It destroyed itself within 3 weeks. Doc's put the second one in free, but it failed 13 months later. A total mess. Be very very careful here. read more

Went there and got an estimate, waited a week to bring my car in. They told Me they were going to order parts from lexus and Get started. Then told me to Just bring my car back when the parts arived. Then I got a call the next day saying they were going to pass on fixing it. They should have told me that a week ago when I went in for The estimate instead of the run around. read more
