I have to say I wasn't expecting a lot from this place but the food was amazing! We had the fried halibut and french fries that were absolutely amazing. The fish was tender and delicious and the batter was so light and crispy. We also had a couple of appetizers that were totally amazing! The view is lovely and the staff is all super friendly. Highly recommend.

First, the menu and food are amazing, and they accommodate gluten allergy and vegetarian needs too! Then the amazing views and outstanding service top it off for a high end yet coastal casual dining experience. Thank you!

We've been to the Pelican Room to dine and no one at the time could tell us who these OGs are. Anyone? This looks like a good story.

We love coming here when it's cold and grey, just the two of us, for a quiet bowl of some of the greatest chowder on the planet, some sourdough bread and wine. We also really enjoy a big family dinner here; the last time they put us in the John Wayne room around the side, which is splendid. There is a nice harbor view and we get the direct attention of our hilarious and fabulous bartender. The Bouillabaisse is incredible, so fresh. The cedar plank salmon is excellent, it has a delicate little crust and opens into a rich perfectly done salmon surrounded by beautiful roasted vegetables. The cedar plank ribeye is also excellent. The only bummer is that hours are limited but that is par for the course for most restaurants up in Sequim. The history of this place is pretty neat too.

Lovely dinner with our neighbors at Dockside Grill! I am rather surprised at how high the prices are! Duck: $60. Halibut: $80. Steak: $110. Ouch. I felt a bit bad since our neighbors were treating us! We started with coconut shrimp and fried green beans for appetizers. The coconut shrimp were ok. They were a bit overfried. The fried green beans were excellent. All four of us shared both appetizers. I ordered the duck and despite asking for medium to medium rate, the duck was well done. Nonetheless it was tasty, just cooked more than what I requested. My table mates all enjoyed their mains and we ordered two desserts: crème brûlée and a semifredo that wasn't in the dessert display. Both were yummy.

Hi Ruth, I have confirmed dinner reservations for 730 tonight Tuesday, February 15. Looks like you're not open. Can you confirm?

So sorry so late, was cooking dinner, but we are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except for Valentines Day and New Years Eve.

Our server, Soren, started out well, bringing water and taking drink orders. Then he seated a couple at the table next to us. The divided attention threw timing off. We had to wait to request cutlery for my friend's entree, and I gave up and used my fork to spread butter on my bread. We ran out of water for quite some time. My friend's old fashioned was tasty, but nothing special. My seasonal mule was supposed to have blackberry but was watery so the berry was barely discernible. The escargot were delicious: buttery and super garlicky, as they should be. I had to wait quite some time to separately order bread to soak up the garlic butter. The Caesar salad was lovely: light and fresh with an anchovy vinaigrette rather than the heavier traditional recipe with egg yolk. A nice alternative. My friend and I both ordered the PNW cioppino. The menu described it as shellfish and whitefish in a saffron-seafood broth. What it didn't mention was that the tomato in the broth was smoked. The smoke overwhelmed the dish. I couldn't taste saffron nor any of the seafood. Just smoke and quite a bit of salt. And I'm a saltaholic. I couldn't eat it, which was a shame because the single mussel and one bite of rockfish I managed were perfectly cooked. Reading the menu online, I was so excited to go. That excitement was not rewarded. So sad because the chef has a great vision for the place, and cooks everything to perfection. But he needs to explain things better on the menu (particularly when departing from tradition), and consider dialing back the smoke.

We ordered quite a few items, the beef tartare, the French onion soup, the chicken liver pate, he got the rib eye and I got the duck confit. The tartare and French onion soup were both out standing. Delicious. The chicken liver pate was a good portion and also quite tasty. The steak was good but not phenomenal and for 96 dollars it should have been. The duck confit was bad. Too salty and so dry. I had one bite, took it to go and threw it in the trash. We had a cocktail each and two beers each. The service was pretty slow and not super attentive and missed things. The bill came to 400 dollars. I personally wouldn't go back, I live in Vancouver and there are so many better restaurants. Maybe this place is good for Victoria? My partner had a good time still and that's what mattered And finally we didn't order dessert but it was my partners birthday and they gave him a candle that was just on a little plate... most places will have a small dessert or something that they provide for birthdays. It was really tacky and made the whole evening seem a little cheap and odd.

There's a certain romance people expect when they step into a French brasserie--the low hum of…read moreconversation, the clink of glasses, a dimly lit room that whispers rather than shouts. Brasserie L'Ecole leans hard into that mood. Maybe a little too hard. Look, I get it. Lighting can be seductive. It can soften edges, blur imperfections, make everyone feel like they're in on something intimate and vaguely cinematic. But there's a fine line between ambiance and obscurity, and this place crosses it with confidence. When the room is dark enough that you're squinting to make out what's on your plate--when you can't even appreciate the color of the food you're about to eat--you start to wonder who this is really for. Diners? Or vampires? And then the food arrives. Let's talk about the French onion soup gratinée--the kind of dish that should feel like a warm, savory embrace. Deep, rich broth. Sweet, slow-cooked onions. That molten cap of cheese pulling apart in long, indulgent strands. Instead, what lands in front of you is a salt delivery system disguised as comfort food. A few spoonfuls in and your palate is already waving the white flag. It's not nuanced, not layered--just aggressively, relentlessly salty. A blunt instrument where a scalpel should be. You start thinking about wine. You *want* wine. But then reality kicks in: what's the point? Pairing anything with this level of salinity feels like pouring a decent bottle straight into the ocean. Whatever subtlety, whatever character the wine might have had--it doesn't stand a chance. Then comes the brasserie burger. In theory, a reliable fallback. In practice? More of the same. Heavy-handed seasoning that bulldozes everything else on the plate. After the soup, it's not just overkill--it's a slog. Each bite feels like work. Finishing it becomes less about enjoyment and more about stubbornness. By the end of the meal, you're not lingering over dessert or debating another glass. You're reaching for water. Lots of it. The kind of deep, desperate hydration that feels less like refreshment and more like recovery. Like you've just spent an afternoon face down on the shores of the Dead Sea. There's a good restaurant hiding in here somewhere; since the service is spot on, buried beneath the darkness, buried beneath the salt. But as it stands, the experience feels less like a Parisian escape and more like a test of endurance. Cheers or Jeers.. .up to you.
