So I called this company to help me move from the north shore to the south shore of mass. My only mistake when I did that was that I called this company to do so . These people are so damn unprofessional, I'm surprised this is actually considered a company or get business from that matter . Now reading these yelp reviews I see that your google reviews are FAR from the truth . I would give you guys zero stars if I could in all honesty. My things arrived broken, stained, hell some didn't even show up at all. Then when I call the office they tell me I can "file a claim", so your people can mess up my stuff and not even bring some to my location. Then while you receive your payment I get to file a claim and wait patiently with my thumb up my butt. Do not use this company even if others a closed ! There was a schedule change in our move, and that information was relayed to us immediately and arrangements were made to meet our needs on the destination end. The crew that unloaded us worked in miserable heat without complaint, they were professional and courteous and treated our belongings as if they were their own. I moved a few weeks ago and the two movers who helped me were extremely efficient and were quick to come up with solutions. My roommate is a teacher and was teaching a class over zoom during my move. This means we could not unplug the internet box when the cord was wrapped around my tv stand and we couldn't use the bigger front door in the room she was teaching in to get my couch out. After encountering these problems, they took apart my TV stand in about 2 minutes in order to avoid unplugging the internet box, and quickly took the side door off and back on it's hinges in order to get the couch out without disturbing my roommate and her students. Once I left, my roommate let me know that she barely heard any noise during her class. Great experience over all. read more

To start off with, the movers themselves were great. They moved everything efficiently and were professional -- they get a 5 star rating. HOWEVER, the company themselves messed up my entire move. I was scheduled for a June 1st move (received a confirmation, etc) but when I called to confirm, they had me on their schedule for June 2nd and had no trucks for my move. After multiple hours and waiting and much back and forth, the company was able to get me a small truck at a later hour. Instead of a 3-4 hour move, it ended up being over 8 hours. Everyone took off work for the move and we lost a lot of money due to the mess up. The company had assured me that I would not pay for any of the mess ups, but I still ended up having to pay much more than originally quoted. They broke herlooms, my 1 year old computer. the van leaked all my boxes were damage and soaking wet, they had to keep my stuff in the moving truck over night and everything was soaked! They were rude kept saying time time........I am paying for ur time. They would not move some of my things because of time . I asked for two clothing boxes with the bar that goes across to hang my clothes, they said they have them but it would cost 15.00 ea. they threw my clothes in a dish box! I could of done that! Called DN Van Lines again for a slightly unusual situation. My elderly mother lived in an upstairs unit in her complex and finally got approved for a first floor unit. The management company offered moving services to relocate her to the new unit but not packing. I called DN Van Lines again to see if they could pack her up without doing the move and they said it was no problem. They had wonderful communication with my mother and did a great job for her. Had them come today to deliver my things they returned my mattress with a huge sticky stain on it, granite top for my table broken into not 1 not 2 but 3 peices. What a great sight, then when I asked them to bring some things in through the back WIDER screen door . They still still brought it in through the front . Cracking the wood frame on my couch. Then when I call they tell me to file a claim..so wait you guys get to break my stuff now and I have to wait who knows how long just for a solution ? Absolutely not, then they try and tell us they're charging us for 2 tucks an hour when one left within the first hour , you guys are an absolute scam !! This was the third time I had hired DN Van Lines as my movers. They had previously been my movers twice before, and the price was right, and the move went very smoothly, no problems....so I thought "why not hire them again". This third time, everything was going great up until it was time to make the payment. I had 2 separate piles of cash, one was $343 which I was using towards my new rent payment, and the other pile had $30 which I was going to give to the two movers as tip. The move had actually only taken 2 hours to perform, but since there is a 3 hour minimum, my total came to $311, so I thought a $30 tip should suffice. One of the movers went back into the truck to start it up and head back to the office, while the other mover finished up paperwork with me. I was filling out the comment card (explaining what a great job they had done in the past and how great they always are), and handed him a check for the actual move, and cash for the tip. Note: On the paper receipt where I signed, it was stated that a 10-15% tip is customary, but not required. I handed the mover the cash tip and told him to split it with the other mover. He said thank-you, and drove off in the truck with the other mover. Later that night when I was organizing my bills I had discovered that I had accidently given the mover the pile of cash containing $343 and not $30! I was obviously very upset because I was depending on this money to put towards my rent. I called the office, but it was afterhours so I left a message on the answering machine explaining what had happened and asking them to call me in the morning. I then remembered that I had the cell phone number of the mover who I had handed the money to because he had called me earlier asking for directions. I called him, but he didn't pick up. He then texted me stating how he didn't recognize the number. I explained to him who I was and what had happened. He had agreed that I overpaid and stated that I gave him only $143! This is not true, but I wasn't about to argue, I was just happy that he had acknowledged what had happened and he suggested that since he would still have to get the money back from the other mover (because they split it), that he and I call the office and explain what happened to the owner and perhaps he can write me a check for the money I accidently gave, and the two movers could pay the company back directly the next time they are working. I called the office again several times that morning explaining what the mover and I had discussed. The gentleman answering the phone said he would speak to the owner and have him call me back. Later that afternoon around 2 PM, I still had not heard from anyone and was getting anxious as my rent was due that evening. I called DN Van Lines again, and spoke to the same gentleman who had said that he spoke to the owner and the owner said nothing can be done. I asked to speak to him, but was denied. I tried explaining how everyone in the party acknowledges what had happened and that this was my third time using this company, and surely some compromise can be reached. The gentleman (who will remain nameless) said it is up to me to contact the movers directly and get the money back, (he then gave me the personal cell phone number of the other mover) and hung up the phone. I immediately called the other mover and explained what had happened. I even offered to drive to his place which is 1.5 hours away to get the money, but he kept making excuses, then finally said "It is too late to ask for the money back" and hung up on me. I then called the original mover who I had spoken to and told him what the situation is, and he said he would write a check for a mere $55 and leave it at the office for me to pick up on the following Monday. I told him how I was upset that he took over a 100% tip on a 2 hour move that only cost $311, and that his good judgment and moral fibers didn't suggest him to question the hefty tip, to make sure it was not a mistake. He stated that they get tips like that "all the time", I then reminded him that on the receipt it said a 10-15% tip is customary, not 100%, and so I know that he should have questioned the amount. Regardless, on Monday I asked if he had dropped of the check, and never heard anything back from him since. I called the office to verify, and they said no check had been dropped off. I am EXTREMELY upset because I have used this company three times! I literally got the cash pile mixed up WHILE writing a positive review for them! I wasn't even allowed to talk to the owner, and the staff was extremely unhelpful. They heard my message on the answering machine, yet never called me the next morning. Everyone acknowledged that overpayment had occurred, yet nothing was done about it. $343 is a substantial amount of money to me, and the moral decisions that were made by DN Van Lines customer service staff, movers, and owner is appalling. read more

I hired DN for my move recently and was not satisfied. (I should have been suspicious when all the highly rated companies were booked, but DN had availability). We had problems with the move and the customer service left a lot to be desired. For positives, the guys arrived on time. We were told between 8 and 9am and they arrived at 8:15. First, the move took much longer than quoted. We were quoted 3-4 hours for the move from our small (600 sq. ft.) 1 bedroom apartment. We were told the guys would disassemble the furniture, but we did this ourselves (except for the bed). All of the boxes were packed and ready to go when the guys arrived and we had an elevator in the building which we thought would speed up the process. After 3.5 hours they were still moving stuff out of the apartment! By the time we got to the house that we were moving into we were so fed up with how slow it was going we had the guys unload all the boxes into the main floor rooms and decided to move them into the correct rooms ourselves. For the most part the guys were fairly professional, except for when one of them was asking people outside our building for cigarettes! Ummm stop worrying about smoking and move the stuff please?! When we started unpacking our boxes we realized one was missing and called the moving company to leave a message for someone to check the truck. After 4 days of being told that they were checking the truck (not sure why it took 4 days to look in a truck) we demanded a response and they finally informed us that they couldn't find it and there was nothing that they could do about it. I realize that we might take partial blame, we did label the box alcohol/shakers/pitchers.... but its convenient that was the only box that was "lost". There were a few other minor items that were broken (a couple of glasses in boxes labeled fragile) but that could have also been due to the packing so we aren't putting blame on DN for those. DN's customer service was not helpful and extremely slow to respond. Lesson learned, don't label boxes with alcohol/shakers/pitchers and DON'T use DN for your move! read more

If I could give a zero, I would. We contracted DN Van Lines for our out of state move and I WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone. It started out okay and like all other providers. I chose DN Van Lines for our July 2021 move from Mass to Florida. I did not expect a perfect move or smooth sailing...but it started rocky on our move out of Mass and ended with a complete failure in Florida. They sub contracted out All My Sons movers in Florida and the crew did not place items where they were supposed to or unwrap furniture/assemble as per the contract. Leaving my family to do this part of the move. The day of move in, Liz was not communicative or helpful. Her manager, Dan never once reached out to ask how things were going or if they could assist. They did not try to manage their contractor but rather let me do it...I had to literally chase the foreman, Edwin, to ask where he was going when he left without completing the job. Since then, DN Van Lines has not been communicative or responsive to rectifying their failure. DO NOT USE. read more

I recently used DN Van Lines for a 50 mile move after being referred to them. It was great that I was scheduled for the afternoon but then they asked to reschedule me for early morning. Being under a tight time frame I took them up on the offer. They were right on time and polite. Always good news when the price was a bit lower than quoted. Again, having moved before and watching movers I was not impressed. They are strictly movers. There was no care what so ever with my belongings or the property. The hardwood floors on both ends had some obvious scratches (gouges) in them and they never told me. I found them. Over the years I have worked hard for what I have as furniture and the quality of it. They put some chips and scratches in a few pieces, never told me. It was a rainy day but nothing was put over the furniture to protect it nor did they use any of the blankets that are used by other movers. One small pretty storage unit with wicker baskets was so wet everything had to be taken out and dried out. Surprise, never told me. Overall I was not happy with the lack of respect they had for my things or my property. Shows lack of pride in workmanship and attitude. For these reasons I would never recommend them. Anyone who has completed a long(er) distance move knows how stressful it is. Packing & moving are two of my least favorite things on the planet, even with years of experience. I was flooded with information when pricing out my most recent move to Boston from Central NY. I finally had to make a decision & went with DN Van given their reviews & BBB accreditation. The salesperson was pleasant enough. I emailed him to inquire about pushing my delivery date back a day, but never received a response. I'll take half the blame because I didn't call, only wrote. That being said, he promised to call a couple of days before pick up to solidify all of the plans & didn't. I had to call the office to verify everything the day before. The movers were scheduled to arrive between 12-2:00pm. They called around 1:15 to say that they would be there in 45 minutes, which they were. It took a little over 2 hours for them to load the truck (2 bedroom apartment - I packed everything myself). They brought a truck that was WAY too big for the inventory I provided & I knew I was going to be charged for it. The truck was rented from Penske, which I found a little odd, but whatever. I wrote a check & they were off. I was told that my belongings would be delivered the next morning between 9-10:00. Another reason I went with DN Vans - they could deliver with no wait time. Would have done it same day if not so many miles. So, I trekked out to Boston that night, got up the next morning, & waited. Anyone on the entire East Coast knows that 9:00 AM is the worst time to drive into Boston, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. 10:00 rolls around & I have not seen or heard from anyone. I again had to call & inquire. The receptionist gave me a song & dance about the traffic, but someone would call me when they "got close." That call never came, but the movers did (same two men). They arrived around 11:00. Everything was unloaded in around 90 minutes. I shelled out a few more hundred dollars & thought it was over. Here comes the oddest part. I stopped one of the guys to tell him that there were two small trash cans & a dehumidifier in my living room that were not mine. The head guy says, "no, they are yours." Um, no they aren't. I stood in complete shock as he explained that only my stuff was on the truck. I again said no & the second guy jumped in with, "I remember picking them up on the island in your other kitchen." Wrong again. I didn't have an island & these aren't my things. My final straw was when the first guy opened the dehumidifier to show me that, I don't know, it's been used? Like that proves it is mine. I couldn't engage in the lunacy any longer & they left the items. Sorry to whomever lost their wicked wastebaskets & dehumidifier. I tried! They also left one of their t-shirts on my front stairs, but whatever. I ended up paying close to $600 more than they quoted me, but haven't really dissected the bill yet to know why. So far, I have noticed two chipped pieces of furniture, but haven't found anything broken yet. I will update this post should I have jinxed myself just now. My wardrobe boxes look like Shrek jumped on them so those are a mess. Who knows how that happened there. On a positive note, I will say that I'm a big plant person & these guys took all of my plants w/o giving me a hard time about it. All & all it was an OK experience. They were not super professional, but got the job done. I think any good business reaches out for customer feedback after they provide a service so we'll see if these people do. Pros: - Friendly staff with prompt attention - Competent hard-working movers - Transparent billing, slight underestimate of hours, but within acceptable range - Competitive pricing Cons: - Movers don't use any (blue cloth) furniture pads at all! Expensive items like a piano were wrapped many times with thick paper wrap. However, the couch, (ikea) bed, were just thrown onto the truck without any protection - Driver, who in most moves is in charge and controls cadence, seemed to be rushing to get the job done (a plus if all you care about is hours billed) , and didn't care for my stuff as much as I would have liked - Driver was on his (bluetooth) cell phone most of the moving time. I can understand that the job maybe boring, but it didn't make me feel that they cared much about the job - No itemized bill of lading and final check through to see that all items have arrived. This is standard with a large carrier and helps makes sure you have all your items upon arrival. How would you know that 1 box out of 200 was missing unless this happened. (We were missing a glass vase upon arrival and didn't realize it until later.) Overall, I get the sense that with moving, like with many other things, you get what you pay for. We chose DN because it was highly rated on BBB was significantly cheaper (3K vs 5K) than the major carriers like United, who we used exclusively before. However, the cheaper price tag, comes at a price as mentioned above: not padding everything up, hasty moving, and not knowing for sure whether everything arrived. read more

I found this moving company through good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to contact them to get a quote. The person I had been corresponding with through email was good at following up and checking in on my upcoming move. I called at the last minute and was able to book the movers for my desired date. I encountered a few issues during this move and as a result contacted them through email to get them resolved. Oded Carmi the general manager called me within the hour and rectified the issue with me in a very timely manner. He seemed genuine and honest. Not only was the estimate accurate, but the movers actually came in UNDER the time estimate. Tony and Lou, the two movers, were fast, efficient, and easy-going. My Father and I hired DN Van Lines recently to move just across town. About a month before we moved, someone came out to appraise the job. "No problem" he said, "This will only take a few hours." On moving day, they arrived right on time. We had about 90% of our belongings packed, clearly labeled on all sides as to where they belonged, and labeled with "Fragile" where needed. The other stuff that wasn't packed got thrown into boxes with little discretion as to what it was or where it goes. We were moving into a brand new condo, and already I have hundreds of dollars in repairs because of all the dents and scratches in my brand new walls and hard wood floors. A desk was destroyed during the move. Several items have yet to be found that will cost me another few hundred dollars to replace and I am still not done making trips back to the old house to get everything they left behind. The person who appraised the job a month ago completely underestimated the amount of time it would take to do the job, the number of men needed, and the cost. We were told a few hours, it took over 12 hours. They sent 3 men, we really could have used at least 5, and the price doubled. The 3 men who showed up were pretty nice. One worked like a dog, one drank coffee and smoked and the other one wanted to chat. All in all I am rather disappointed. Not angry...just disappointed. Kind of bummed out that I have to spend all this extra money on home repairs on a condo that has been in existence for less than 2 weeks and replacing damaged furniture and missing items. OMG - ! I just moved TODAY and one of the workers told one of my new neighbors to "GO F*CK YOURSELF". She was an elderly african american woman who had trouble navigating her granny cart around the moving truck. Several of the other neighbors heard this and they ran to her aid and I was horrified as I was moving into a new complex and had HOPED to make some friends, not be known as the girl who hired the ARSEHOLE moving company. I confronted the mover in the elevator and he admitted he told her to "GO F*CK HERSELF" and for the rest of the move he sat in the truck. HE was the the senior person on this job!!! I cried for the majority of the move after this, what a horrible experience. I am traumatized! UPDATE!!!! I spoke at length with Oded the general manager this morning and he addressed the issue with everyone involved - the property management company, the guy who shot his mouth off, and even the woman who was involved in the issue. I am impressed that he followed up quickly with all involved. I gave them another star just for that alone. I had a great experience with them and would 100% recommend with your single day move. I moved from point A to point B in one day so I can't speak towards longer moves. I was hesitant that the price was more reasonable than other companies but I felt very comfortable with the representative I talked to on the phone (Maayan) and they really didn't seem to want to nickel and dime me for every item (helpful when I hadn't been in my storage unit for over a year and didn't know a number of boxes). I actually chose to have them come to the pods center and unload my pod and then move it to my new apartment because pods was so expensive to relocate my stuff due to being out of their 50 mile radius. The movers were excellent, professional, careful, and hard working (very hard working). They worked fast and they never stopped moving which is very nice because you pay by the hour. I can say I for sure got my money's worth. I had Will and Joe T. I can't say enough about how helpful and hardworking they were. Joe T has over 15 years of moving experience and they were so careful with my things. The movers were absolutely terrible. They were extremely unprofessional. They were swearing and complaining the whole time. Sweating all over my couch and furniture. They asked throughout the move to go get food and drinks. I did provide them water but they kept asking for additional breaks. One mover asked if he can have a quick smoke break. My furniture then smelled like smoke afterwards. All night, all you could hear is the f bombs along with all kinds of other vulgarity. It was a one bedroom move and myself and my dad were helping move boxes throughout the night. It's not only unprofessional but disrespectful to speak that way when you're getting paid for the work you're doing. They also complained all night about the stairs and the move. The worst part was in the middle of the move, a man on the street asked if my movers can remove a mattress from his apartment(paying my mover cash at the moment) my mover took the cash and said he's on the clock with me and that he can do that after. I then find my mover down the street PICKING UP this mattress and putting it in the truck to be tossed at a later time. THIS mattress was then packed on the truck next to my furniture. He did this WHILE on the job for me. I am very disappointed and would never recommend them. They also didn't handle anything with care. They were expensive, they arrived late, a move that should have taken 3 hours took almost 6. The movers complained about working, they stopped and had cigarette breaks and bathroom breaks about 3 times. They didnt take all my stuff with them. The quote they gave me over the phone was more when they got to my house. The movers were rude, the manager and employees in the entire company were rude. I dont think this company is even worth one half of a star. Although my move was years ago I'm still pissed off that I gave them my money. I would not recommend this company to anyone at all. I was very impressed by this company. The quote I got from moving from the Worcester area to the Boston area was great, the movers did a great job as well. I had a brand new bedroom set and they showed up with bubble wrap and blue cloth. They brought their own tools and disassembled the bed and then reassembled it at my new place. They did everything very quidkly. I was a little nervous about fitting my box spring mattress up the stairs, but one of the movers asked me if it would be okay to push it up and over the railing and thankfully they were able to fit it up the stairs! This was my first time using a professional moving company, so I didn't have any preconceived expectations. Come moving day, we were very prepared and had everything boxed and centrally located, except for the furniture. We hired two 20' trucks and a 4 man crew to move our 3300sqft home. The trucks and crew pulled into my driveway right on time. The crew was professional, efficient, and very capable. I'm a pretty strong and able guy, and wanted to lend a hand. But beyond the basics, they insisted that I left the heavy lifting to them, which my back thanked them the next day. As for the price, I was given a quote ahead of time, which was pretty close to being on target. Moving isn't cheap, and we decided that the days of asking friends and family to help move was in the past, and we'd spend the extra money for pros. I've used DN Van Lines for 2 moves now, and they've been great both times! I spoke with Scott on the phone a few weeks before my first move, and he told me exactly what to expect and how I could set up my apartment and belongings to make the move go as smooth and quickly as possible. For both moves, the movers arrived on time and were very professional and respectful. They worked hard and efficiently and let me know exactly what they were doing. The movers had furniture pads and covered my wood and fragile items and all of them arrived in the same condition. Brad was my move leader for both moves, and he was familiar with my old and new apartment buildings, so he knew exactly where to go and how to handle the buildings. They bring all of the dollies and equipment needed, and were a lot cheaper than some of the other moving companies that I called. All of the movers have at least 5 years experience (2 of my movers had over 15 years!), so you know that your movers know exactly what they're doing. I highly recommend them! read more

DN Van Lines just completed a small move for me from Wayland to Northborough. I arranged the move from California, and the entire experience was excellent--from communication with Scott about pricing and scheduling, to the professionalism, politeness, and efficiency of the movers, James and Tazh. James called me with a question from the pick-up point so we could avoid any misunderstanding, and they made a point of introducing themselves to my elderly aunt at the delivery point before they started their work. This is huge; it made her feel very comfortable to have them in her house. I recommend DN Van Lines highly. read more

What a wonderful experience! The moving team arrived on time and was efficient and polite. They wrapped all my large furniture in blankets and there was not a scratch on anything. Didn't have the ideal movers and most of my furniture were damaged in the process but the management was very quick to help! He understood my issues and tried his best to make sure I would be satisfied. My tip is to request your items to be wrapped and blanketed even if they insist it's not necessary. read more

I hired DN to help me move a client's belongings on March 5, 2015 from his old apartment to my storage unit in Needham. I had the movers, two very nice men that I am sad to say I can't remember the names of, meet my assistant in Malden. They were on time, polite to my assistant, considerate of my clients' belongings, and quick. I met them in Needham. They were cordial, even letting me take pictures of items as they rolled them out of the van, and quickly unloaded the van. All the goods were well taken care of, and well packed. I believe the price I paid was even less than what I was quoted. Throughout this process, the movers were on time, and communicated with me by phone their location and estimated times of arrival. They were always on time. My only complaint is that I was not told I needed to pay by check, and was charged a 5% penalty for using a debit card. The movers suggested I call the office to have this reduced or removed, and it was reduced to 2.5% once the office worker told me I had received an e-mail notifying me of this fact, which I in fact had. I wish that this had been verbalized, but I also wish I had read more carefully, so I am not deducting any stars for this. Overall, very happy with them. read more

DO NOT USE DN VAN LINES! I used them to move this June, I was just going from Boston to Medford thinking it was no big deal. I called and gave them a very detaied description of what was in my apartment. Just to be clear, I live in a 600 square foot apartment with an elevator. I don't have a ton of stuff. The moving company gets there and I am informed that there is more stuff than they thought and it would take more time. It took them three hours just to unload my 600 square feet. Everything was already packed and by the door, and it took three hours. So they went over on time by an hour, that's not the worst part. I get to the house and we start unpacking and notice we're missing a box. My fault I guess for labeling the box "alchohol". Yup that's right the only box I'm missing had all my booze in it. Coincidence huh? I called the company multiple different times and no one has gotten back to me. Finally I said "I want an answer" and they said there's nothing they can do for me about a missing box. Nothing you can do for me? You "lose" my stuff and there's nothing you can do for me? This isn't over DN van lines. I'm going to be contacting the better business beaureau and filing a complaint. Totally unacceptable. read more

We had an unexpected cancellation by DN Van Lines for a move that we had scheduled, for reasons that the manager of DN Van Lines stated was beyond their control. I posted my displeasure on this site and shortly after the manager of DN Van Lines was willing and able to secure another moving company for us that offered to provide the same service, dates of service and fee for service. We appreciated the efforts the manager went through in order to make sure there were no interruptions in our plans. To be fair, I am adding this amendment. read more

Terrible, stay as far away as you can, they didn't show up for my moving day and tried to tell me I booked the wrong day. I had the documentation to prove that I had the right day. They wanted to give me 10 dollars off my move per hour as a consolation. I was out of my mind. Can you imagine? Closing in the same day and moving out, and these snakes decide not to show up. HORRIBLE! Arrived almost an hour late; I had to call them to find out when they expected to arrive. "The truck broke down". Because they negligently failed to wrap a part of my furniture,they destroyed a valuable antique cabinet. I saw them drop it off the back of the truck, then heard "No problem - didn't break". It was irreplaceable damaged. The 3 movers smoked on my property, and then dropped the butts on the driveway, along with beverage containers. My new dryer now has a dent on the side as well. I was "compensated" $180 for a piece of furniture with an estimated value of $3000-$5000 - BEWARE! they will only pay $0.60/pound of items they destroy, unless you buy their "extended insurance policy", which is fleetingly described when speaking with them. They also attempted to charge me $10.50 in tolls to drive from the previous job to mine. I have 2 problems with this: 1. I would not, and did not, pay tolls incurred by the previous contract. 2. the actual total of tolls from exit-to-exit is actually less than $3! Do yourself a favor - CALL SOMEONE ELSE!!! read more
