Can a person be a gem? Because Roger is a gem. I'd give him extra stars if Yelp permitted. We hired Roger - can you tell he's so awesome you want to address him like a friend? - to help us move a couch from a friend's house to our apartment. Roger went to the house and picked up the couch on his own and brought it our apartment. He then brought it up, by himself, to our floor. But it doesn't stop there! He noticed while moving the couch that it had a few spider crickets living in it. He made sure we knew so we could address it before moving the couch into the room. He not only helped us take care of the spider crickets, he gave me a ride to the hardware store to get bug killer. Through it all Roger was incredibly nice, patient, honest, professional, and reasonable. I really can't recommend him enough and will not hesitate to use him in the future. read more

Very reliable crew - professional and punctual. Roger and his team showed up on time, and they have professional gadgets to protect the furniture from any scratches in the interim of transportation! Will def seek their help when moving again! Update-ask the help of roger yesterday again and can't ask for a better experience! So very reliable. I've recommended Roger to many friends of mine, all of whom are very happy with a smooth move! read more

I had a last minute need to move a dresser from VA to DC. Roger immediately responded to my call. You can go online and ask for a cost estimate. Very very reasonable. I highly recommend this service. Kind, courteous, and very careful with your belongings. Excellent service. read more

DMV Cargo Taxi - Movers Near Me

Roger was a pleasure to work with. His communication before the move was great as was his service during the move. He showed up on time and did a great job. His prices are also very reasonable. Highly recommended! read more

Roger is Exceptionally rude. No details provided either. I am not following up to ask for other dates available. There's a reason why everyone loves the great customer service of Bookstore Movers and similar companies. read more

6 stars! If you're looking for a mover just call Roger right now, you won't find a better guy. Roger helped us with two moves this month. He showed up on time both times, was reasonably priced, and did an excellent job with the moves (everything was packed up securely with moving blankets and strapped down, he brought extra dollies, tape, etc). Plus he's a really friendly and interesting guy to talk with while sitting in a moving truck in DC traffic. I can't recommend enough, and will be calling him next time we need a mover! read more

In April this year, I found myself in a bit of a tough situation trying to move from my shared house to a shared apartment. With only one bedroom to move, I didn't have enough stuff to justify a traditional moving service (but they wanted to charge me like I did), but it was still way too much stuff to try to move on my own. I also didn't want to ask friends to help me, because bless their hearts, manual labor is not their forte. DMV Cargo Taxi ended up being the answer to all my prayers. I contacted Roger for a quote through Yelp, and he responded in a timely fashion with a quote that was far and away cheaper than anything else I had received. We set the day and time for the move then, and then I contacted Roger again closer to the moving date (I booked about two weeks in advance) for a final confirmation, and he confirmed. Sure enough, on the appointed day and hour, he showed up with a spotless truck, all the necessary equipment, a helper, and a really great attitude. I showed them where everything was, and they got to work right away, loading the stuff up on the truck. A little under an hour later, all of my things were neatly deposited in my new place and they were driving away. I kid you not, they were that fast! Nothing was broken or damaged and nothing was left behind. I had a large mini-fridge that I was concerned about, but they moved it up and down several flights of stairs with no problem. They even wrapped up my mattress lol. And as a bonus, they were so nice and professional, and were a real joy to work with. It was definitely the easiest, most stress-free, and honestly enjoyable move I have ever had and I would absolutely recommend DMV Cargo Taxi to anyone doing a small move. If ever I'm in need of their services again, I will definitely be contacting them without hesitation! read more

This is probably by a cosmic difference the best moving service I have tried. The professionalism that Roger and his team showed were beyond my expectations. They will make sure your most valuable furniture don't get even the slightest scratch. The best quality that these guys showed was ingenuity. I have hired them twice, but for my first furniture pick up requested they moved down a sofa from a third floor, in a DC building with no elevator, and the only stairs available were similar to fire stairs in the back of the building. They were pretty creative and efficient. Also, their service price beat all the other quotes I found during my search which was why we hired them in the first place. I am very pleased and grateful for all their efforts. read more

I was booked to use DMV Cargo Taxi. I repeatedly asked the owner for a signed contract. One week before the move he told me to find another mover. What kind of business operates without a signed contract prior to the work being done! I can't help but wonder how he managed to get such good ratings! read more

As a new DC resident, I was very worried about moving all of my things out of my UHaul by myself. Roger showed up (early) to help me move only a couch and a mattress...or so I thought! He went above and beyond, helping me move in a few other heavy items and doing so in record time. His prices were VERY reasonable and his service was A+. I have already recommended him to two friends and will continue to do so when I can. read more

Great service if you just need a few things moved. I was moving out of 1 bedroom in a house, and I had very few things to move. After checking with traditional moving services, the lowest estimate I got was around $150. Some charged as high as $360, even though all I had was a twin bed frame and several bags and boxes. Roger offered his services at a great price and was very fast and professional. I highly recommend DMV Cargo Taxi for anyone who just needs a few things moved and doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg. read more

I'm a bit late writing this review since I used DMV Cargo Taxi last month, but I had such a fantastic experience I want to give credit where it's due. I live in the city and don't have a car, but wanted to buy a couch on Craigslist. Nearly all moving companies were going to charge me an arm and a leg, and some even said they would only do a minimum of two or three hours. I definitely didn't want to spend that much for a single hour of work! Anyway, I found a couch I liked, and scheduled a pickup time. Roger met me at the couch owner's house, and I followed him back to my apartment in a Zipcar. He was extremely courteous and professional -- he took good care not to stain or tear the beige suede couch, and even spent extra time rearranging my furniture the way I wanted it. Absolutely excellent service, and I would use this company again in a heartbeat. read more

If you just need something moved and you don't want to pay the ridiculous costs that a moving company will charge you, call Roger. He's friendly, responsive, and professional. I needed some wire panels delivered from a store since they wouldn't fit in my vehicle, and were too big for the bed of a truck. I called a few other moving companies who were going to charge me upwards of $300 to pick up and deliver the panels. I finally found Roger and DMV Cargo Taxi, and he did the job for half the cost. I will definitely use DMV Cargo Taxi in the future next time I need something delivered. read more

I needed to move my stuff from a bedroom in Bethesda to an apartment in Columbia Heights. I don't drive and didn't have enough stuff to justify hiring a large moving service. I went to Yelp searching for an affordable mover and came across DMV Cargo Taxi. I called Roger in the middle of the week to schedule a move for Saturday morning. I emailed him the date and time I wanted to move and the stuff I needed to move. He responded quickly, and we a set the date. He arrived relatively on time and called to let me know he was on his way. The move was quick and painless. An added bonus, he helped me disassemble my IKEA bed frame and put it back together too without charging extra for the service! I tipped him for this because I know most movers wouldn't do that. He's friendly and professional. I would recommend him to anyone needing to make a small move and unwilling to pay an arm and a leg to do it. read more

These guys are amazing. They helped us moved today and the whole experience has made me write my first review on yelp. Having said that, imagine the impression these hard working guys must've had and the free time I have to write this on the day we moved. Punctual? They are very punctual, in fact they arrive at least 30mins early which really helped as the loading was free in a very short time frame. We had to park outside for the last 15mins as our time had expired and the next truck was ready to start their move. Had they not arrived early and worked faster than I had expected we wouldv'e had to be the "bad hombres" taking someone else's time. Professional? They are the epitome of professional and make the work seem like a breeze...at least for us, they worked nonstop for 4 straight hours. Equipment and truck size? They had more stuff than we could imagine. All professionally packed, tied to the truck walls and nothing flying around in a Optimus Prime of a truck that can easily adjust a 1 bedroom apartment stuff. We had furniture for almost a two bedroom apartment and Roger (the owner) accepted and loved the challenge. Hidden fees? NO HIDDEN FEES AT ALL. I checked with at least 40 other companies before going with these guys (yelp has the feature to send requests for quotes to 10 companies at a time and I utilized it to the fullest as we had to move on a very short notice). 95% of the companies have one or an other kind of hidden fees: One time booking fee, arrival fee, extra charge for stairs, for un-packed bags, for using their blankets or tape and maybe even for asking too many questions :). I read so many horrific reviews of companies showing up late, bringing smaller trucks and taking two or more rounds to bring all the stuff, working slow, charging insane rates for overtime, cops being called etc etc. But with these guys it was honestly one of the best experiences. They are funny, they keep you engaged while working and are clearly motivated to get more business rather than making an extra buck like others. Before this experience I would've said "if we ever move again" as I was seriously becoming allergic to moving. But now, I can say with confidence that "Whenever we move again", we would definitely hire their services again. Thank you so much and apologies for the late review, I wrote it all the same night but forgot to post it. Wish you best of luck with your future endeavors. read more

Fabulous Fabulous service!! If you just a need a few things moved, (for example I just needed my mattress & box spring moved) then this is the gentleman to do it! It cost me less than a 1/3 in price compared to other movers quotes and he was extremely professional. I will definitely call him again if I ever need anything else moved since he was on time, quick, polite, and affordable. And note to all craigslisters who rent vans to move items--I would call this gentleman first and get a quote. read more

This is really cool. Roger helped me moving today and now I am completed settled down and even have time to write this review. He was even arrived earlier than I expect and very professional with moving. The whole process goes very fluently and I did not need to worry anything. What's more, it is extremely useful for someone who does not drive because you did not need to rent a van and ask some else to drive and move. All the service just a call. I will definitely call his help if I need to move next time! read more

Roger was outstanding during my move! Besides from being prompt and efficient with my boxes, I had a desk that couldn't fit through the door of my new place and on the day of the move he didn't have his tools with him to take it apart. So he offered to come back the next day and disassembled and reassembled the desk for me, all without extra charge! I was very impressed by his level of professionalism and would definitely contact him again for my next move! read more

I highly recommend DMV Cargo Taxi. After purchasing a dresser from craigslist, I needed help in getting the piece from the owner's home to my own. I searched Yelp and Google for moving services and stumbled upon the listing for DMV Cargo Taxi, and the wonderful reviews prompted me to call. Incredibly, Roger was able to accommodate the very same day (with a few hours notice! amazing) for a very reasonable price. I received quotes from several other moving companies, but all of them had minimums that were way above what I wanted to pay. Before you consider to DIY and rent a van, get a quote from Roger...I'm pretty sure by the time you pay for the rental and gas, you won't be saving much money (not to mention he has the proper equipment to move large furniture). Roger was extremely friendly and took extra care with the dresser. He was timely, called when he said he would and was very responsive on text. It was hands down one of the best customer service interactions I've had in awhile. Thanks, Roger! read more

I could not be more impressed with Roger. I moved from out of state and had a 12ft u-haul completely packed to the brim with boxes and furniture. Roger and his partner arrived on time and did an absolutely stellar job unloading everything and maneuvering the stairs and small elevator. They were so kind and made sure to drop the boxes in the correct rooms and even helped me put my couch back together. So well priced and true professionals. Even my dad, who pretty much hates everyone and thinks he can do everything better than a professional, was super impressed and raved the whole day about how awesome Roger is. read more

My moving situation was very tricky and Roger and his partner were outstanding. They were on time, efficient and helpful with all of the issues of the day, including having to bring everything back to my old apartment. Roger was so kind- he offered to come back the next day and help me move everything again despite his busy schedule. I would absolutely recommend using them for moving! read more

Requested quotes from several companies. Roger came in at the best price and was super friendly! I was able to arrange a delivery the very next day (and a Sunday at that!) which was very convenient. If you happen to purchase furniture from a store that does not offer delivery (such as the Crate & Barrel Outlet) and are scrambling to find a way to get it to your house, I highly suggest you contact this company for a quick and easy experience. read more

I cannot recommend Roger highly enough - he was absolutely terrific. I needed help with a last minute couch pickup/move and he responded immediately. He arrived early and came prepared with every possible moving tool that might be necessary. After discovering that the couch could not be removed through the staircase, we had to move it via a second floor balcony. Roger was incredible -- he quickly created an amazing and sturdy pulley system and the couch was easily and safely lowered onto the ground floor. It was extremely impressive and it honestly would not have been possible without him. His fee was more than fair, and low considering the quality of his work. He was courteous, competent, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish! read more

Honest and professional! Roger was a pleasure to work with as he helped me pick up a huge furniture piece from Craigslist. Great service especially when you have a single or few pieces etc. and not necessarily an entire move. Most moving companies won't help with single or few pieces like this. Thanks Roger!!! read more

Roger was amazing! Highly recommended for extremely professional, prompt, and perfect service. You won't regret hiring these guys for your moving needs. read more

We moved from Arlington VA into Washington DC. We had three bedrooms, which initially scared the team at DMV Cargo Taxi. But we were living in a really small space and didn't have a ton of furniture, so everything worked out fine. They showed up on time, disassembled the beds, packed everything up carefully, and reassembled everything. $100 per hour was nothing compared to the stress Roger took out of our day. He was courteous, professional, and I'd absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a white glove mover at a U-Haul price read more

These movers are great. They were on time for picking up the furniture I bought on Craigslist. When they delivered it to my house, they were in and out of my house in a flash. More importantly, my very large piece arrived without the slightest damage. I loved Roger's attitude; he was so pleasant and helpful. I definitely would use DMV Cargo Taxi in a heartbeat. I value good furniture and so do they! read more

This is the 3rd time we have used Roger and crew for our DC moves. Highly recommended!! Efficient, Careful, and Knowledgeable, Roger is a delight! read more

If you just need a few things moved across town, but don't have your own van, and don't want to pay for a "moving" service, then DMV is for you. I needed a couch and some knick knacks moved a few miles, so I called DMV. Within a couple of hours, Roger was here and willing to help. He was professional and conscious of all the variables at play while moving (angles, stress points, delicate spots, etc). We needed two people to move the couch, so I helped out as well. The cost was significantly less than if I'd gone with a traditional moving service ($65+ as opposed to $150+). Good deal and good service, if you're willing to chip in for the larger items. read more

This company is BEYOND unprofessional! My husband booked with this company 3 weeks before our move date. Today June 23th, which is a week before we are scheduled to move. My husband receives an email informing him that the truck has been in an accident and we should find another moving company. We offered to get a uhaul truck and he response that he decided it will be a good time to take a vacation. Now we are stuck trying to find another moving company 6 days before we are schedule to move. Please save yourself the stress and do not move with this company! read more

If you find yourself needing some help and transportation to move some furniture in the DC Metro area, DMV Cargo Taxi is the perfect solution. The owner was very reliable and professional. I definitely plan on using him again. read more

I contacted Roger about moving a TV console I purchased on Craigslist, and he moved it for me same day for a fair price. He did a great job moving the piece, and he was very professional. In fact, the Craigslist seller was so impressed that she asked me for his info. Highly recommend. read more

I hired Roger from DMV Cargo Taxi yesterday to help me pick up a desk that I had purchased on Craigslist. So glad I found this service! Roger could not have been more professional. Available on short-notice, on time (early actually), courteous, experienced, and the price was extremely reasonable. Although I was there to help, he managed most of the move himself, which was incredible. He made sure to wrap up the piece of furniture carefully so it wasn't damaged in the move. I would definitely hire him again and recommend to friends and family! read more

Absolutely terrific service. Extremely reasonable rates and prompt response. I wish every business was conducted like DMV Cargo Taxi.

Roger and Ron did an outstanding job with our move. We needed to move several large pieces of antique furniture from a storage unit to our house. In advance of the move, they were highly responsive and easy to work with. On moving day, they arrived on time, brought all the needed supplies, and moved everything with great care. Our furniture survived the move perfectly. Very well done! read more

I had been looking to buy outdoor furniture off of craigslist for some time, but I don't have a vehicle that could transport it. Enter Roger. In my previous experience, movers are always late, full of excuses and just generally have a bad attitude. Roger is the complete opposite. I called Roger in the afternoon on the day I wanted to move the furniture. He was happy to help, even on short notice. I had not even seen the furniture at that point, so I told him generally when I was going to view it and that I would call him if I liked it for him to help me move it. I called him and he was in the process of moving something for someone else, but it literally felt like he dropped everything and came to help me. He told me about what time he could make it to pick up the furniture (he ended up being early) and he had a great attitude. I am hoping to find more on c-list just so I can be a repeat customer for Roger! read more
