After leaving work early and lugging a 35 lb sub about an 8 minute walk to the shop, the person I spoke with asked what was wrong, then basically told me I should just do it myself. He then said he was uncomfortable having his team take it apart and declined the job. This is exactly the kind of thing that should have been communicated over the phone so I didn't waste the time and effort bringing it in. On the positive side, he seemed honest and didn't try to pretend they had skills or comfort level they didn't. He also recommended another shop in Chinatown that "will fix anything," although I checked their reviews and decided not to go that route. In the end I repaired the sub myself successfully. Overall, I appreciate the honesty, but I was frustrated by the lack of clear communication up front that led to an unnecessary trip with a heavy piece of equipment.

I also like that they occasionally send out coupons for free stuff, like memory cards, flash drives and Bluetooth headphones just to lure you back into the store. Plus they have clearance items that are always good to check, never knowing what you might find. Not as well known as for their computer components is that they also sell many hobby items similar to what Radio Shack used to stock. They have breadboards, soldering irons, wire strippers and other tools. They also sell techie toys like drones, 3D printers and even LEGO sets. But for a while they were also stocking model rockets and accessories, although at MSRP prices. This time, they look to be liquidating the model rocket stocks because they have not restocked in years. All rocket accessories and supplies were 50%-70% off list prices, as listed on their website and I cleaned them out of just about all the rocket engines. The checkout guy asked if I was planning to launch to the moon. What would have been $400 as originally tagged, scanned for $120. Whenever I see a crazy deal like this, I am all over it!

They had a good selection of dishwashers in the brand (Bosch) and price range (mid) we were looking, and their prices turned out to be better than the other competitors I looked at. More importantly, their delivery could happen sooner, and cheaper. There ended up being a hiccup in delivery that was mostly my fault, and when I called and e-mailed in to figure it out, P.C. Richards' responses were surprisingly quick and on point. They were even nice enough not to blame me for all the problems. I have come to expect so little of customer service reps that this was a breath of fresh air. Once we got the delivery day and time actually figured out, the technician was on time, efficient, and nice enough. There was an extra outlet that needed to be created to install so there was an extra charge I wasn't expecting, but I imagine that's just how this goes sometimes. All in all, a lot less painless than it could have been, and I truly appreciate not having to wash all my dishes by hand.

I ordered a laundry machine that was delivered yesterday. Two guys delivered the machine. Upon arrival, there was a dent towards the bottom of the machine [see pic]. I was under the impression that I would have the machine installed for free at the same time as delivery. One of the guys assured me that the installation was an additional $120 and said that I could either call and schedule an installation for a later time or pay him $120, "off the record" via cash, venmo, or zelle, to have it installed then. I was pretty sure I chose this particular machine because it came with free installation. When I picked up my phone and said I was going to call to verify, the guy said, "nevermind, we don't have hoses on us so you'll have to call to schedule an installation at a later time anyway." I was able to verify with a representative over the phone that I did indeed have free installation for this item. This guys' sketchy attempt at a side-hustle threw me off. After the guys left, I noticed they did not place the laundry machine all the way in the room, so it was blocking my bathroom door. "The Product Weight is 302 Lbs." - over twice my own body weight. When I tried to move it, it wouldn't budge. I have one bathroom in this apartment and as it was my Saturday, I had plans later that evening. Point blank, I needed my bathroom. When I called to complain they said there was nothing they could do about moving the machine until the scheduled delivery date, which was scheduled for 6 days later. They also had the audacity to say that the picture that the delivery man took looked like the machine was already placed all the way inside the room and when they spoke to him, he said my bathroom shouldn't have been blocked. Undermining a claim I could so easily prove was nothing short of the unprofessionalism inculcating this entire experience [see video]. While on the phone, I was told that the guys had already left and were en route back to the factory. Nothing could be done. I had to cancel my evening plans and spend the next 6 hours trying to find help. Thank God for Taskrabbit! I was finally able to get someone on Taskrabbit to come help me move the machine 13" back [see attached picture]. The customer service rep. did provide a $60 reimbursement from the company for the inconvenience of it all, but in my opinion that is nothing compared to the time it took for me to correct the negligence of the low grade worker this company is choosing to be represented by. Prior to the deliverer's arrival I was trying to place another order with PC Richard & Son for a T.V., another costly service. Thank God that did not go through! I took my services to BestBuy instead. Because of this experience, PC Richard & Son has lost a loyal customer. I will never purchase anything from them again and advise anyone who is scheduling a delivery service to think twice beforehand, and consider the possibility that whoever you get, might try to scam you.

There's something for everyone and I like it that they cater to different age groups and sexes with their activities. Jude did an excellent job on my NAD 3020 integrated amp. It had always sounded good but had…read moreidiosyncrasies that I accepted as typical of a vintage audio component from eBay. It worked well enough for my purposes, I told myself. The built-in phono stage wasn't exactly usable, but I had my own external preamp that I liked, and there were times the sound would cut out if something got ever-so-slightly jostled, but then it stopped producing sound from the left channel altogether and the quirks stopped seeming so cute. I called Jude and described the problem. He picked the amp up and returned it sounding better than ever. I now have a restored amp that sounds great for less than I paid for it in its rusty, loose condition years ago. I would note that the quoted time frame was the Sunday following a Wednesday pickup, and it did take some phone tag to get the unit back, which ended up being two weeks after I first handed it off. My guess is that because we live in totally different parts of the city, Jude was trying to time the repair relative to when he could feasibly come my way, and from what he told me, the repair was somewhat more complicated than expected once he got around to it. Notably, this was during the stretch of winter when there were the two huge storms within a couple of weeks of each other, so that didn't help either. Delays like this obviously seem inherent to a one-person home operation, and I wouldn't have expected such a quick turnaround if not for the original quote (and other reviews mentioning quick turnarounds). He was always friendly and polite on the phone even as I worried I was pestering him. Overall, I felt the service lived up to my expectations. Given that he's a genuinely nice person providing a specialized service for reasonable prices and will pick up and drop off your gear for you (even if you don't live anywhere near Flatbush), I can't complain--just unfortunate timing that I found myself without a working stereo system out during a period when I was barely going outside. Still, I have a feeling it'll be sounding great for many seasons to come.
