Yes, Ken D. is not my real name, my real name is Ted Bordeleau, and I had no idea I even HAD a Yelp account until I wrote my review and tried to post it and Yelp asked for my login data, and Google popped up with "use this e-mail account"? which was indeed an active e-mail of mine, so I clicked it and voila, I'm Ken D. I suspect one of my kids created the account. Nonetheless, I sent my unit to Leo BECAUSE of his great reviews, which is why I can't let it pass that he gave me such poor service. Doesn't matter that it's an old unit. Doesn't matter that he's been doing his business for as long as he has. Nothing of his claims that I am completely lying or trying to hide behind a fake name matter because he STILL did not address the work he did, or was supposed to do, or the fact that he did not provide me with a written diagnosis that I paid for, or the lower cover that was delivered back to me completely un-attached. If he would have e-mailed me the written diagnosis like I asked him to , I would have never written this Yelp review. He still has not sent it to me. I have copies of the letters I sent him and phone logs of the calls. As it stands now, I gave him $160 for nothing, I have no record of any work being done and he still refuses to provide any. This place is basically where if you work in a profession of anything audio and have the highest end equipment - when your shit breaks these are the guys that can get into your system and actually get it back fixed Sure I'd like to buy a new $5,000 piece of equipment every time my receivers or turntables breaks - but sorry Charlie I do not have that kind of corporate loot always sitting around and it's nice to know Lou and his team are a family run business that have been vetted by the best from onkyo, Macintosh, marantz, crown, to a small list of others I'm most likely missing I will say customer service is lacking a little bit In regards to them calling you and giving you updates on the status of your repair - but I'm willing to still give this a five star rating because two of my units straight up busted in the middle of covid and I know these guys were just as screwed as the rest of the world and the highly specialized parts they needed to fix my machine were reliant on supply and demand being tarnished as a result of covid. Especially considering my marantz amp and crown being a little bit more high end than most people like and needing some new boards from China took a bit of time to get. I road them like a horse though and the 2nd my parts came in they had it back to me within a day and had competed all the other small repairs that needed to be done prior to swapping put some high end audio boards. I was under a deadline to do a screening at my office and they were tireless to get it to me once they had everything. Sucks they don't take credit cards and only accept cash or check - but when you consider the amount of mom and pops shop and knowledge you have to take to into consideration when dealing with high end audio equipment these are some of the best guys out there. That and to be able to fix the oldest analog is impressive. I'd love it if they update their payment options - but these guys are the real deal if you want your high end audio equipment fixed without breaking the bank and having to redo all your high end system setups that often relies on that one specialized piece of equipment I like to always refer to as the "brains of the information" Lou is great - and the team here knows their stuff read more

I live in San Francisco and my $7K AV Receiver broke. I spent 6 weeks contacting various high-end repair shops, which rarely answered calls and took weeks to respond to emails. Then I found Technetron shop in New York, read the reviews and decided to call. I was speechless when he answered my first dial. In 5 min I was given all the information I was interested in, felt like this guy knew his electronics and for the first time felt confident to send my receiver all the way to New York - best decision ever! Long story short, in exactly 4 weeks (2 weeks just in transit back and forth) I was opening the shipping box with my receiver!!!! It works like new and I am just so happy! Need to mention, I'm a little bit overdramatic when it comes to my electronics, so I did call Leo every other day, sometimes twice a day with questions and he always answered and never gave me attitude or was short with me. Leo at Technitron is an absolute gem. My dad has a very complex very old television system that I frequently Mess up replete with a million buttons and modes. Leo has stayed with me on the phone for an upwards of 45 minutes multiples times as a calm cool and collected technician and explained everything to me over the phone until the problem was completely resolved. I was having issues with my 70's Pioneer receiver that I had bought on Reverb, so I called Leo, described my issue, and he immediately understood the problem. I brought it in and a week or so later, I got it back working perfectly and sounding better than ever. This guy REALLY knows his stuff, is clearly very passionate about what he does, and was great to work with. He was very transparent about the options and the associated costs. He even gave me a couple free pieces to fix my AM/FM, and gave me some advice that helped resolve an issue I had been having with my record player. I hope this review will help many who are in the same boat. It was not easy for me to leave my $ 1200 pioneer dj equipment for the first time. I've been reading a lot of bad reviews rather than good, so I was so nervous to leave it to them even though my equipment was supposed to be covered with warranty, you will see why below. However, the experience here seems to depend on people and their equipment. In the reviews, one said it took more than 4 months to repair, and ended up not being covered by his warranty, and other said they damaged the surface of his gear after receiving it back. However, after a few weeks of agony, I decided to try their service because it was within 10 minutes from my office and it was the only service center in the manhattan so i thought they would be the fastest at getting the parts and pros. The result is very satisfactory. at first, I was regretting about leaving the gear here, and regretfulness was very heavy on way back to office. But turned out, they were the pros. I was able to get a phone call to pick up the unit exactly in 10 days. the problem was diagnosed, the parts order and the repair were carried out together. I only needed to just sign the receipt at pick up, and everything was covered with the warranty. As i brought it into my office, first thing I did was to check any dents or damage on its surface as one mentioned it earlier, but the equipment was packed neatly in a plastic bag and wiped clean, no new damage was there at all. Then I tested it to see if they fixed the real issue, the cue button, but wasn't still working so i called them and they promised to fix it in same day when i bring in. liked the fact that they really took responsibility on it. After phone call, I tried again, then the cue button finally started working. don't know why it didn't work on the first try, (maybe they didn't test after replacing to new parts), but has been working flawlessly since that first try. Excellent. only one comment for improvement would be notifying the guest each time when the process status changes, (parts ordered, parts received, being fixed), because i didn't get any update calls from them except when it was ready for pick up. Overall, i'm very satisfied with them, if my gears go wrong, will visit them again without worry next time. read more

There are but a few times in life when you take comfort in knowing that you have found the best place to have something done. We are lucky in NYC to have such a talent pool to draw upon thus sometimes the process is inspiring - sometimes adventurous - sometimes exhilarating. For me, in the case of salvaging old gear and restoring it back to life, the process has been torture. This is what makes Leo and his Technetron family all the more satisfying to have discovered. Mike and Leon were both extremely helpful in rectifying my 20 year old amplifier that was not working properly. The amplifier now sounds rich, full bodied and so natural. Last July I brought in a Cambridge Audio CXA60 model integrated model amplifier under warranty. The power switch would constantly turn off at random. Technetron thoroughly tested my unit for several days. Though they could not recreate my problem, technicians thoroughly soldered all the internal electral connections. I recently had my Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista integrated amp repaired by Technetron and could not have been more impressed by either their technical ability or their customer service. I had inquired about potentially having my unit repaired at a few other authorized dealers or service centers but no one else came close to making me feel more confident about the in-house capabilities than did Laura at Technetron. She was exceptionally customer service minded during my initial contact with her, as well as during the shipping, estimate, repair and return shipping process. I was also contacted by Mike before and after the repair and in both instances he provided a comprehensive account of needed to be done to repair my unit and why. I also received a call from Mike after I received my repaired unit back to Technetron, to make sure I was 100% happy with the work Technetron performed. Reading reviews of some stereo stores or repair facilities can be a bit startling and anxiety provoking if you own a quality or cherished unit, as many consumers are treated like the repair shop is doing you a big favor to do the repair for you, you have limited access to the people doing the actual repairs, the repairs are not done thoroughly or the unit is damaged internally or cosmetically during the process. While I realize equipment can be damaged during the shipping process by people brutally ignoring packages with "Caution," Fragile," or "Handle with Care; Fragile Electronics" stickers affixed, consumers should feel good about every other aspect of the electronics repair experience and the folks at Technetron did exactly that for me. My experience with Technetron is that they have infinite repair capabilities, maintain the highest professional standards with regard to both the technical repair, as well as with customer care throughout the process. They simply could not have done better by me or my Tri-Vista. There are very few businesses in existence today that have mastered the balance of quality service with customer communication and care as well as Technetron. Recently got a Marantz 4400 Stereo 2 + Quadradial 4 Receiver which had never been serviced before. It was totally busted excepting a extremely low mumbling sound from the FM mode. That was all. Technetron replaced approximately 40 components in my receiver. They received it on 7/29/17 and I picked it up on 8/16/17. The administrative and service personnel were very courteous, knowledgeable and very professional. Also very very honest. . Most of all I have to say that by the way the before and after results are almost magical the way they were able restore the original beautiful sound. I took two pieces of expensive McIntosh components to be repaired by Technectron Electronics at two seperate times. The first time they put a scratch on my preamp. I let that go and didn't say anything. The second McIntosh piece I took to them was also scratched and they tried to cover it up with a black magic marker. This time I mentioned it to them. They took a defensive tone and started accusing me of bringing it in like that, stating "they never damage anything that's brought to them". I'm a very easygoing person and I don't like to argue, but I don't appreciate the way I was treated either, and I will never bring anything to them to be repaired again. If you value your audio equipment, take them to another place. Who needs problems. read more
