Dixie Picnic is my go to place for a delicious weekend breakfast. The lunch boxes are also wonderful, especially the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich. I mean, who doesn't love a deviled egg on the side?? My husband and I come from King of Prussia almost every weekend. The breakfast burrito is one of my favorite meals, but let's be real, the cinnamon bun French toast is to DIE for. Service is always quick and courteous, and the place itself is spotless. We have never been let down. Our family makes a trip from Downingtown to eat at Dixie Picnic once a month. The staff is great, the food is made from scratch, and it's all good. I'm a Northerner and always turned my nose up at grits but after trying their shrimp and grits, I'm completely addicted. Dixie's deviled eggs are also a nice change of pace from the french fries or chips you usually get everywhere else. Kid's love the "up cakes" too. Absolutely outraged. Have gone here since they opened for lunch breaks at work. A group of co workers decided to do a breakfast this morning so everyone preordered yesterday for pick up this morning. When 1 coworker went to pick up the orders the owners said they had something happen with the computers and they could not process the 6 orders credit cards and they asked the person picking up to pay for all 6 orders with her card. Bless her heart she did cause she wanted us to all get our food. But the worst part is that they told her to either use a "group" order next time or to call them in and not do it electronically. Clueless why they have online ordering available if they rather people call in their orders. Their food is great, but I don't think I'll be going back to support their business for a while. I might have been ok with the computer issue but going on to make my co worker feel like it was her/ our fault for how we ordered? Ridiculous. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Okay, so I have worked in the Malvern area for the last 3 years. This place is great for breakfast and especially great for lunch. I am moving away and will definitely miss eating here. It is a scratch kitchen, good tasty food, friendly staff, quaint atmosphere, timely service despite busy lunch hour crowds, and save the best for last - the upcake! Our go to place for breakfast, lunch and even book club. Have been going for years. The food is consistently good. Only had one bad server experience in they forgot my order and they offered to refund my entire meal. Did not take them up on it because they were in transition when the owner had surgery and this was the first time out of hundreds of visits I had a bad experience. My mother and I had breakfast at Dixie Picnic yesterday. The owner, who was also taking order and running the counter, was extremely pleasant and helpful. It's a family owned and run business and I like that. The place was cute and clean ( which a big deal to me, who wants to see food on the floor while you eat?) Our food arrived quickly and was hot! I love biscuits and these were perfect with that yummy salty buttery top that I love. The sausage gravy was full of meat and very good. We also had bacon, which was cooked to perfection and home fries. The potatoes had just a bit of some spice that I just can't place. I could have done without the mystery spice ( maybe nutmeg) but they were still delicious. Mom had coffee, which she loved and she is a very picky coffee drinker. I had iced tea and it was very good. We were sorry that we didn't get an upcake for the trip to Lambertville, NJ, but I'm sure we will be going back! :o) Good job, Dixie Picnic....can't wait to try your boxed lunch! read more

I've been to Dixie Picnic several times for breakfast and lunch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, I absolutely love the homemade jam (comes with the toast) and the creative lunches. The upcakes are a must, much better than any cupcakes I've ever had. I've tried some of the other desserts as well and they are out of this world (I recommend the sticky buns). I also liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, they just renovated the place and it looks great, it's very cute and homey (love the blue shutters!) I've been to other restaurants in the area and Dixie Picnic is my favorite by far. Overall, the food is excellent, the service is great, and the place is comfortable. My coworkers seem to love this place, but I can never seem to get what I order. 3 times I have ordered the Virginia Ham and cheese but with NO MUSTARD! 3 times, my sandwich came with mustard. The last time I was so frustrated, I took it back and asked for a new one without mustard and was treated so rudely! First off, Dixie Picnic is delicious. We frequent this establishment all the time. I highly recommend the food and would've ALWAYS said wonderful things about the service-until today. I have never heard an owner chastise her employee like I did today. The owner complained to the very nice young girl about our order, AND she did it so loudly that we heard her. She was complaining the whole time we were there about how she didn't do this and she didn't do that- I don't really know. All I know is that one should NEVER complain at work, especially when it comes to being so loud that your customers hear you. I didn't feel the food was particularly tasty either. They always seem stressed out in there... and it's not a nice atmosphere. I was highly disappointed by their food. Expected a delicious meal, but ended up getting something that appeared to taste terrible. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich box, which the bread and chicken salad was dry. The fruit cup was okay and the deviled egg tasted poorly. The upcake was too sweet. Sam's Club chicken salad tasted better, that's the sad part. The other Thinksgiving sandwich had bread that was too thick. Go to Capriotti's if you want an appetizing Thanksgiving sandwich that will do it for you. Not sure what all the raving reviews are, but I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Wow. My mother has been raving over Dixie Picnic forever. I finally joined her there for lunch and I am more than impressed. The chicken salad sandwich was off the hook fabulous! It came with a deviled egg (delicious), and a choice of a side (I picked potato salad, equally delicious) and a choice of an "Upcake". The food is delicious and more than enough for a lunch portion. My mother treated, but I know the price was super reasonable. I only wish they'd expand and open a location in Center City where I work! read more

This place is too freakin cute. I hope it becomes insanely popular, not because I feel like waiting in long lines, but because the owner of this down-home eatery seems genuinely sweet. Dixie picnic is one of my most favorite restaurant ever. I would hope it that is saying a lot because I've been around the world. I first found out about Dixie picnic when they had a stand in the King of Prussia Mall. They have these marvelous little things called up cakes. I can't get enough. They really taste like your grandmother made them. You can taste each and every ingredient. That in my opinion is why this is one of the best little restaurants. All of their food is really made with care and dedication. I've never had a bad meal here, I've never had bad service here, this is why it gets 5 stars from me. I seldom get to come here because it's so far from my place. If you chance upon this area I assure you if you visit here for a meal you will not be disappointed. I'm drooling just thinking about it. I mean anybody can make a sandwich right? But the sandwiches here somehow are better then you think they could ever be. read more
