1/5 stars for their mini golf course. - For a place out of the park district, they're charging $11/18 holes which seems steep for what you actually get + $6 for parking/hour (limited parking spaces) - They have 1 size club for adults and 1 size for kids. Other places I've been to wash their balls and clubs after you're done, but this one is not clean. - Course is in bad condition with dirty water and unpatched turf - Course is also boring. You can charge $11 when you have a nice course with fun obstacles but when it looks like this, it best be under $5. Great location and fantastic scenery but could use an upgrade on their customer service. To start, I asked to borrow clubs but they didn't have a set with a driver. Huh? I understand most people will come with their own clubs but not having a single driver to rent is crazy. The range is tidy and like that there are multiple levels. This place is consistently packed, and with $17 buckets, it's clear the owners are making a strong profit. On busy days, the owner like to walk around scoffing the patrons and rolling her eyes at the people standing in line on busy days--an attitude that seems to reflect the general disregard for the state of the facility. The mats are completely worn down and feel like they haven't been replaced in decades. The putting greens are crumbling, there's no chipping area, and the golf balls themselves are in terrible condition--many of them cracked or badly scuffed. It's frustrating that the only driving range in the city is in such disrepair. With just a modest investment, this could be a fantastic spot. But instead, it feels like the focus is solely on generating profit for the cheapskate owners who could care less about this place and what it stands for. read more

Location is great and getting to see the city while hitting golf balls, is such a great experience. Pretty easy to get golf balls and set up. Parking was surprisingly available as well. There is a parking lot specifically for the range and mini golf which makes it very easy to get as close to the range as possible. The price for this is definitely on the higher side. Mat quality could be better as well. It gets VERY crowded right after work hours through about 8pm. And when you finally get a bay, you can be sure there is someone or a group, sitting on the bench behind you, and waiting for you to empty your bucket of golf balls. While this is the nature of a range smack in the middle of the city, it's still frustrating to have people rush you. If you are a new golfer, this might not be the best for you too. I got hit a couple of times from shanked balls, nothing serious. There is a barrier between the bays but there is no fence or lattice within the barrier so balls will get through if you slice hard. Wish I could give a 3.5 star rating. Can't beat the view and that alone is the only reason I'll go back. read more

Great place to lay back and hit some balls at the bottom or top of the driving range. Good for groups and/couples to try the putting greens, they have two. The employees are consistently polite and genuinely care for their customers. They also have a mini golf area, but I have never tried. I see mostly families with kids try and they seem to enjoy it. There is parking on the street but it is rare to find, but there is always parking in their parking lot. 4 dollars for an hour, 8 dollars for two to four hours. Fun fact: they are open year round & in the lower part of the range have some heat lamps which is convenient. read more

Hit balls there all the time & have been wanting to give this review forever but I travel for work. Every time I hit balls there this older gentleman is out on the field picking up balls, not once or twice but several times he has helped me (I think his name is Greg). He's always had the ability to (if I catch him when he's out of the tractor) answer a question, help me understand the machine dispenser of bucket of balls when it goes arry, point out whatever answer I may have. If this guy Greg can't do it he will find out who can!! I'm so impressed by this man's ability to help people, handle aggressive people (bc there was one in front of me) and do hard labor at the same time. A good place to practice or just release stress after a hard day, or week. In a beautiful setting by the lake front, and, if you choose to use the upper deck, some spectacular views of lake Michigan and the  city skyline; although, during the summer months, some of the best views are blocked by the trees. This place is worth visiting for the atmosphere along. There is a beautiful miniature golf course attached, a grill/cafe at the entrance and clay tennis courts on the East side, but those are reviews for another day. There are plenty of coaches available if you want to improve your game with a private lesson. They are open all year around, with heating lamps to keep customers somewhat warm. Weekends are crowded, but I have never had a problem finding a bay open, even if it is not centrally located, as is my preference. About my only complaint would be outdated and poorly kept bathrooms. The price is a bit high, especially when you include parking fees, but like in real estate, location is everything, and this is the only range in town; this part of town anyway. read more

Pretty nice spot to get some fresh air at. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it was because it was the first weekend with warm weather in forever but it was quite crowded. It could be a little more organized when it comes to the range. When crowded you can find yourself walking around forever waiting for an open hitting area. Kind of have to just find a few to cherry pick and wait for someone to finish because you can sit in a area for a good amount of time and then walk away for a minute and then someone else comes up and takes a bay you were waiting for. But for $16 per large bucket of balls it wasn't bad. Can't expect it to be something like topgolf when paying this price. The mini golf was pretty fun. Some holes were challenging while others were meh. The infrastructure was kind of wore out so in some holes the ball would just roll off the course. $10 per person was a good price for the course. They give you the club, ball, scorecard and pencil. All in all it's a pretty fun place for some outdoor fun. read more

Nice driving range. $16 for a large bucket is not bad either. Sometimes it can get pretty crowded depending on what time you go. You usually only have to wait 5-10 minutes though. Unless you go on a super busy day, then you might have to wait 15-20 minutes. There's free street parking, but those are really hard to come by. There's usually space in the parking lot. I think it's like $4/hour which is not bad either. They also have mini golf, but I've never played there. I see kids having mini golf birthday parties, so that's an option if you have kids. There aren't too many driving ranges in the city, but I live close to Diversey so that's usually the one I go to. read more

Diversy driving range is a very convenient option for golfers who live in Chicago. It is completely astro turf but if you are hitting low nip wedges u can still zip them. It has two levels and plenty of hitting bays, so it is never too hard to get a spot. Additionally, the hours are solid (7am - 10pm) which is awesome if you work long hours during the week. The workers are very nice and get you in and out of the pro shop in a minute. The fact that Chicago has a good driving range in the city is amazing, and I highly recommend practicing irons and wedge shots here! Try it out! read more

Diversey Driving Range is run by the Chicago Park District. The facility has been around for quite some time, however, they do keep this very nice and the rates are very reasonable. It is open all year round with stalls that are enclosed and heated. This is a two Level facility so it can accommodate a lot of people. This is the only driving range that I am aware of that is in the city proper and usually very popular. There is also a miniature golf course that is simple but fun to play. They have a restaurant that is open in the summer only and in the small clubhouse where you pay you can purchase snacks and water or soft drinks for reasonable prices. read more

It reads 141 W Diversey Pkwy. When I entered it in google maps I ended up at Belmont harbor. This is such a great place to come! I've gone to summer camp here twice and it is so fun! My coach was John McCartin and he was super fun and a great teacher! He was always cracking jokes but yet still teaching us great form! I liked it so much that this fall I did 5 week (one hour a week for 5 weeks) lesson with a group of kids here and it was very fun! Fun spot to hit some balls with a view! Their outdoor eatery is also very welcoming and the service was great. The food is provided by Bacino's and their chicken salad is AMAZING. Savory with grapes and a good bread to salad ratio (chicken salad was falling onto the plate). The hot Buffalo wings were also a balanced heat, not too much gristle and too good to leave any behind. French fries came to us hot and well salted and all 3 of these items were recommended by our wonderful server, Katie. She was knowledgeable and quick with recommendations which I appreciate. A few holes have extra gimmicks, like the pipe that drops you down right at the hole, and the 17th hole forces you to choose either a narrow green bridge or a wide wood bridge over the river (or choose river, which worked for me). Each hole has an actual removable flag in the cup - something you don't see in Southern California. However, course maintenance pulls this course back to 3 stars. Some of the greens were really worn, especially around the holes, and the ball would just not go straight around some of the first few holes. Time to replace the synth-turf here. Take note: another nighttime alternative to going to a bar. You can easily walk here from the Clark and Diversey neighborhood. Tucked in between the Lake Shore Drive condos and the waterfront, this is a relaxing place to get away for an hour and shoot some golf balls. I like the double decker platform because it helps me get away from ground level and elevates my poor driving skills. They also have plenty of clubs available to loan out, in case you don't have one handy. It's pretty dead in the late evenings, from what I've seen, and nobody gets too upset if you're no good at the sport. The mini-golf section is pretty run down and sketchy though, especially at night. It's so poorly lit that you can't see where your ball goes and there's a lot of debris (leaves, sticks, natural stuff) left on the turf. read more

Great space, decent clubs to rent and they're doing a great job with how they're limiting numbers during Covid.

To start off, I don't golf but I like to try new things. Hence, I decided to come here as part of my birthday celebration weekend (in September) with my guy friends and sister on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. There's a parking lot (don't forget to pay...although I don't know if there's really anybody monitoring) available if you aren't taking public transportation. There were 6 of us and we passed a few hours hitting balls. It is kind of expensive, but the view is beautiful and if you walk a bit south you're on Diversey Harbor. We caught the sun setting with the Chicago skyline along the dock but beware of all the goose poop! It's a great way to pass an afternoon if you want to be outside and be active and enjoy the views of Chicago. There is a food stand on the property if you happen to get hungry. FYI: The public bathrooms are DISGUSTING and smell like sewage..and there's no mirror (How vain haha) read more

I'm an avid golfer who will go to the DDR about 10 times a year. There's several issues with range. One, they oversell buckets which means you'll wait in a long line to purchase a bucket of balls only to wait a long time again for a hitting bay. Two, they should either add more bays or a third level - the demand is clearly there given they oversell buckets and you wait a long time to hit balls. Third, they could and should winterize the facilities to permit year-long use which could help generate more revenue. Fourth, the greens you hit to act like trampolines and should be updated. Fifth, the putting greens are atrocious and in desperate need of renovation. Sixth, the balls you get are often beat up, torn or chipped meaning you can't get an accurate read on your shot. Lastly, if you go to driving ranges you'll notice Diversey is overpriced. I wish the Park District would address these issues, but I'm not holding my breath. read more

It's extremely rare that I'll state something like this, but for this particular activity the suburbs are better than the city. Not surprisingly...Diversey Driving Range is tough to park, twice the price, and half as nice as if you were to head 20 minutes to almost any burb. It doesn't get so crowded that you ever really have to wait. There's plenty of platforms, but all are mats. No grass. There's also a mini golf course, but if you're going to try that you might as well just throw $20 into one of the water hazards cause it's so broke and busted that you probably won't finish the game. The good is that there's a restaurant that sells beer and wine, but if you just want to BYO I'm pretty sure they don't care. If want to whack some balls, but don't feel like leaving the friendly confines of the city it's an option, but by no means should you be expecting an amazing experience. read more

Not much of a choice for Chicagoans if you want to crack a few balls, its either here or South Jackson. This range is bigger and nicer, but also very crowded. The dual levels are nice options given the weather (upper level in the summer, lower level with heat lamps in the winter or when raining), they recently redid the range and put in a turf-like surface to give it a nice finish. Parking is relatively cheap (usually pay under $5) and I don't remember the exact price for a bucket, but relatively affordable for 90 minutes of entertainment. Its great therapy to go out there on a nice day, clear your mind and just work on your swing. Either way, its cheaper than a professional shrink. My one pet peeve, the loud LP Trixies who scour the range with no clue how to golf, in an attempt to meet guys. (Don't get me wrong, a girl who knows how to hit a driver 200 yards off the tee is awesome...or someone that genuinely wants to learn). If you can't meet guys while bombed off jager and soco/limes @ Duffy's or Moe's Cantina, chances are they don't want to meet you while tweaking their backswing.... read more

So after reading some of the reviews I felt it necessary to correct some of the other reviews that may be misleading... I have been going to this driving range for a little while now and I think its fabulous. Minus when its extremely crowded. Then it kind of stinks if your going with someone else, finding two spots next to each other is kind of hard. But I should specify if you wait then it is doable. Some people in previous reviews specified that they were not being served when they arrived at 10pm and the driving range is open till 11pm. They also indicated that the place should improve on their customer service just because of them not serving them. However its posted all over their website that the last bucket sale is at 10pm. So that shouldn't have been a shock to them if they had called prior or looked at their website. I am pretty sure they do this to allow enough time for people to finish hitting all of their golf balls that they paid for. So my opinion is don't complain and do your research before you go... The workers here are fabulous and some of them have already learned my boyfriend and I's name because we have gone so often... Living in a city for a worker to remember your name is impressive to me... Kudos to you Diversey Driving Range. read more
