I am a certified client from Gabe Rios Golf. I bought a package deal in 2018 when I started playing golf. I should have done more research and taken one lesson from several places prior to buying a package deal from this place. I admit this was my hasty bad decision. At initial stage, Gabe was fine. He taught me the basic theories and motions etc. in the first two or three lessons. I also remember him saying that since I bought the package deal, he will spend additional time to improve my game. As time passed by, his real time spent on me for each session was like 15-20mins? and rest was just practicing myself (Gabe walking around and taking phone calls) even though it was supposed to be the whole 50min-1hr 1:1 session. As I wanted to get better, I asked several questions during each session or through text messages, but his way/saying of teaching was becoming very arrogant and bossy. As sessions went by, I felt that this guy was very indifferent about my improvement in golfing. On top of it, the package deal includes going out to the field together. He just didn't do it. I will give an excuse with the pandemic. If I try to find a good thing from Gabe, I would say he at least texted me back when I asked Q's outside of sessions whether it helped me or not. I also wanted to add one thing. Just because the client looks younger and being polite doesn't mean that you can take advantage of it and get loosen up as sessions went by. If this is not the case, then do better to other clients being more consistent throughout the sessions. Bottom line from my experience and atmosphere felt during the whole period, 1. If you are a beginner and want a package deal, go somewhere else after trying out one lesson from other places. 2. If you just want to book this place for a party/drinking, I think it will be okay from the reviews I read. read more

Let me preface this by saying, I know my game needs improvement, hence why I spent $150.00....But being completely honest, I found this to be a huge waste of money. Gabe barely introduced himself so from the get go... the "lesson" was awkward to say the least... Throughout the lesson I think Gabe probably spent about 60% of the time talking about his other clients and their problems... this wasn't relevant or helpful... I found him to be arrogant, disinterested and to put the icing on the cake.... his parting words while he left the room to see another client was "shoot me an email or something".... Do you want more business? Are you actually interested in helping me work on my game? I cannot think of a single word of encouragement throughout our session.... He focused on what was wrong with my swing, but other than having me continue to swing, offered very little advice to improve what I was doing... For $150.00 I got to use a trackman for 1 hour and learn about how Bill isn't a good golfer... and apparently I am not good enough to even put forth effort to earn me as a reoccurring client. My advice...go find somewhere else, this isn't what you are looking for, nor should you waste your money. Truly disappointed as I was looking forward to this "lesson" read more

Great experience. Hit some balls on both his simulators and got some feedback from his trackman equipment. Gabe gave me advice on clubs to get and spent time talking me through swing speed, lofts etc. He just expanded and opened up a new portion of his facility. Gabe is a great coach. My wife and I have been seeing him off and on since early Spring 2015. His rates are competitive, he offers different packages to fit your budget. Gabe is accomodating and he took us out to a golf course in the summer and it was great to play on the course with him coaching us. After watching you swing a few times he immediately knows what you're doing wrong which is extremely helpful when trying to improve your swing. I found Gabe Rios Golf by going to a local indoor range to get some swings in. Gabe gave me a quick free lesson on how to hold the club and where to stand/position from the ball. Fast forward about a year later... I came to Gabe for lessons after playing my first full summer of golf. I currently shoot around 100, meaning if I can break 100 I'm a happy guy. I really enjoy the game, but couldn't figure out how to stop slicing the driver. This is killing my game and it needed to change. I went on every YouTube channel and watched shows and listened to friends advice but nothing helped. In about 5 minutes Gabe was able to analyze my swing and provide three solutions to correct it. We spent the rest of the session working on best practices while I'm at the range so I don't go back to slicing into the other fairway. I am really excited that I'm no longer slicing. I am going to continue my lessons with Gabe to get comfortable with my new driver swing as well as build solid ball striking consistency with my irons. I highly recommend Gabe for his knowledge of the golf swing and being able to break that down for me so I'm not overthinking it. He commits his full attention to you, he's pretty funny, has interesting analogies, and is very responsive with booking times. He also does some free clinics from time to time that I've been to. Gabe was able to produce some very sound advice that helped my game immediately. I was only able to meet with him for a limited time, and in that time he showed me two new swings that already are helping my game the first time out. He also worked through some adjustments to my current game that were quite helpful as well. His swing analysis is pretty high tech. I have golf trip in a couple weeks, and am able to go into the trip with some new confidence and new tricks. He recco'd a couple new clubs that will fill some gaps in my game as well, and educated me a bit on the clubs I had in my bag already. Gabe Rios is the man! Knowledge of the swing is insane. The fundamentals you can learn to apply based on his suggestions are incredible, they positively impact your swing lesson 1. I had lessons with someone else in the past, and I ended up complaining and demanding a refund, so I was a bit hesitant at first to do any more lessons. Not with Gabe, I am now figuring out how many more I should get. He has his own shop on Lester and Damen pretty much, it is great. 2 simulators, TV's, a small kitchen to keep your beer and snacks. I had a great day on the course with Gabe. If you think a driving range lesson is "good enough" you are missing the boat. When Gabe has you on the course, the lessons translate in real time. On my day out there, I picked up one lesson that helped me add about 50 yards to a drive while straightening it out AND another item that helped a ton with my chipping. My guests were also impressed with how "hands on" Gabe could be in recording us to give feedback and give us each individual attention in the foursome setting. I saw Gabe earlier in the month and had an awful experience. I have had very few formal lessons over the years and did not find his instruction helpful at all. He was rather arrogant, looked exhausted probably from honoring all of the Groupons. To sum it up- as I was leaving he handed me a sleeve of 2 golf balls and said, "Here are a few bullets to spray all over the course." I decided that this was going to be the summer I spent time trying to get "OK" at golf so that it could be fun for me and my 10 year old. I found Gabe via a Groupon. He spent 45 minutes with me hitting into the simulator and immediately gave me THREE simple things to think about when I swing. The simulator helped a ton as i was able to "see" where the ball was going and how far. He took the time to explain to me why what I was doing was causing the results. He is very laid back and easy going. I went out the next morning and had never hit the ball as solidly or as straight. It was extremely fun to try to make a shot and then actually execute the shot just keeping three simple things in mind. I shot 50 on a nine hole course - I usually can't even keep score! There is still a ton of room for improvement, but it is fun and I'm excited to continue to learn. AND I beat my ten year old by four stroke...it won't last long! Gabe is great! read more

I went to Gabe with awful fundamentals. He broke down my technique and was great at explaining the changes but more importantly why we were making these changes. He also helped me understand how different swings and actions and approaches can produce different ball flights. We used his state of the art system to identify and diagnose the flaws in my swing. The ability to take a shot and then have him pull it up on screen so you have instant feedback is extremely valuable. We put together a 3 month plan including one on one sessions and video break down and then additional range times to let me come in and work on the changes he was coaching me through. Gabe arranged a shared lesson for my wife and I at the last minute and it was perfect. He focused mostly on my wife (who is more of a beginner than me) and she came away very excited at the prospect of playing golf. His easy-going style was perfect for our skill level. As a low-mid 90's golfer I wanted to put a little more emphasis on my game. Four of us rented the simulator out for a couple hours and played Cog Hill when it was 35 and snowing in Chicago. The simulator is more accurate than any of the others I've used around town.
