My coach was a good guy, very knowledgeable and friendly. If you have the time to spend to rework your swing I'm confident he would be able to help with a multiple lesson plan to achieve your goals. My issue is IF your not looking to rework your swing you can walk away very discouraged. I took one lesson recently saying i wanted some coaching on how to improve a certain area of my game but with back issues NOT a full rebuild. I was not able to hit the ball the way he recommended with my back issues and the muscle memory of my current swing. By the end of the lesson i was saying i just can't make that move and he was recommending more lessons to fix. I got zero out of this lesson other than less confidence. I understand it's a business but this was the opposite of what i asked for. In short i walked out pretty discouraged on my swing overall. I played a 15 handicap last year and play about 2/week for reference. read more

Had a great experience with Andrea here. She did not take any cookie-cutter approaches and really invested all of her energy in each lesson. I exponentially got better each session and it is all thanks to her awareness and knowledge of the game. We always had a plan going into each session and a takeaway (maybe two) to work on out of the "office". Phenomenal structure that led to big improvements and much more awareness of my swing. LISTEN to your customer and prospect, solve their issues and you will most likely succeed. I sat down with Ben Thulin (owner of this location and PGA member) to share my goals and where my game was. I just completed a 6-month Game Plan package which included 15 lessons, 6-months of practice, and 3 club fittings, and I cannot begin to thank my instructor Ben Thulin and GolfTec enough for the improvements to my golf game. Ben's knowledge of the game and ability to quickly analyze one's swing to determine what exactly to work on during each lesson is beyond impressive. Every lesson felt purposeful, building on the previous lesson, all working to master fundamentals and gain an understanding of my unique swing. Ben often says he can promise only one thing, something will go wrong on the course. Everything he teaches you though prepares you to handle that challenge, understand what the issue is, and how to adapt. Beyond unmatched instruction, what sets GolfTec apart from other companies is the practice component. It is one thing to have a breakthrough lesson that makes you feel 100% more confident in your swing, it's another to actual practice those skills to make sure you retain what you just learned. This is a great facility with a high experienced staff. I went to Ryan Durnberg for a quick lesson on my driver before the start of the season. It has always been the worse club in my bag. Golftec uses state of the art equipment to track every motion and detail of your swing and uses it to analyze every facet of your golf game. That combined with Ryan's experience breaking down the science into actionable and repeatable motions combined with practice allowed me to unlock the potential off tee. Best of both worlds here, incorporating technology, as well as a personable professional who's good at implementing technique. Ryan gave me the tools I need to fix my swing and get in all the positions AS WELL as showing me how I can play with what I have originally. My first round after the lesson I shot 75 ( I am a 10 handicap) and crushed it off the tee with ZERO errant tee shots. I usually don't write reviews, but I highly recommend the facility for someone looking to shape their game up. read more

I have been going to Golftec (Halsted location) for about five years and have loved every minute. The lessons/instructors are extremely thorough and have massively benefited my game. I have referred a dozen or so friends to this location. (They have privately thanked me.) The management team, led by Cody and Kyle, are top notch. I am currently enrolled in their 6 month program, priced at ~$1,700, and it has been a very disappointing experience. I was asked to pay upfront, and after 3+ months of regular lessons and practice, there was just no improvement in my swing. I regularly shared my practice session videos, etc. with the coach who seemed very impressed so I guess I wasn't practicing wrong. I was practicing 6+ hours every week, which was "enough" per the coach so I wasn't practicing too little. I didn't miss a single lesson. When I called their corporate offices after 3 months to discuss the situation, they told me they "didn't know" the next step. Golftec Halsted Row's manager called asking me to give the coach another chance because now the coach would have objective measures like improvement from 100 yards in, chipping, basics like weight shift, etc. I gave the coach 3 more chances. No change at all in the next 3 lessons. Same old random & vague lessons. No objective measures. By that point I was just done with their lies and false promises. During lessons, they had no comment on my grip, posture, width, weight shift, rotation, etc. You would think a golf coach who knows what s/he is doing would review these before anything else. They had nothing to say until I brought it up. Even then, the coach talked about it for 3 minutes, may be. If that wasn't enough, coach would say things like "remember your objective is to have a good time on the golf course with friends, so don't focus on improvement". I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. THEIR GOLF COACH SAID THAT. Also, I repeatedly asked them to help me have a golf swing governed my body rotation, not hands and arms, and they again and again tried coaching me hands & arms dominated swing. Sometimes it felt like I was the coach, and I paid $1,700, and that too upfront! I knew they wouldn't return my money. I just told them to let me practice. I'll try and figure out on my own as much as I could, and go elsewhere to improve my game & get fitted, once the 6 months elapsed. After a few weeks, they had a problem with even that. They called me and objected to my long practice hours. I kinda lost it at that time, but remained civil. I reminded them of the deal - I pay $1,700 and take lessons & practice per their prescription, and they fit my clubs & help my game. I held my end of the bargain, they did not, and now they have an objection to my practice. I paid $1,700 and I am figuring out a tough game on my own. Their shamelessness was just appalling. In my 5+ years in the game, this has to be the worst experience in terms of lack of content, value (non existent) for money, deplorable customer focus. Every single word above is a fact. I cant recommend this place. Please save your money and time. Had I thrown $1,700 in Lake Michigan, at least I would have not wasted time. By charging me upfront, I couldn't even go anywhere else to learn the game. This place was a complete waste of money and time for me. There's got to be better places. My advice would be to "Stay Away". read more

Booked a driver fitting with Ben. Waited 3 weeks for my appt and Ben T canceled on me two hours before the appointment time. Ben promised he would find another coach for me to honor the appt time or help me reschedule. Never heard from him again. Was apprehensive to do the fitting as there were some negative reviews. Unfortunately, they seem to be accurate. Would not recommend for any skill level or anyone seeking new equipment. read more

Purchased a package for my husband as a gift, which he had to postpone using due to some unforeseen life events. When he got around to using the gift certificate, no one would respond to our multiple attempts to see if the gift certificate had expired or could even be put to use. I was told three times that someone would get back to me "by the end of the day" and was never contacted. Be weary of Golftec who will go out of their way to sell you one of their packages, but won't respond when it comes time to schedule. read more

I have played golf since I was 8 and I am now 41 and I have had 4 teachers in my life. My father, Dr. Jim Suttie (300/hr and top 100 teachers on the planet, Carl Robito (400/hr and top 100 teachers on the planet) and now Ben Thulin (GolfTec Halsted Row). I have also seen 3 other golf professionals for one lesson each over the years but there was no chemistry between us. I still love the game but as of mid last July (2014) I couldn't break 80. This may not sound like a problem to most but from a young age I was ok at this cruel game. I played varsity golf 4 years in high school, on a golf scholarship in college and continue to play many amateur events to this day. I only give this background so that anyone who reads this can see I am serious about my game and who gives me advice and guides me in this journey. I started to see Ben in February 2015 and was basically at my low point, could only hit week fades and could not score or drive the ball at all. Basically I was ready to start to play tennis again because my ability to play well was gone. Anyone who plays at any level knows when they can no longer play at their potential or even close to it the game no longer is fun..and without having fun on the golf course it's time for a change. Ben started me off on at a club fitting as all of us golfers think maybe it's the clubs not me..he simply asked,"do you want some advice ?" I replied "yes "and then he put me on some monitors and different apparatuses. As we looked at my swing and he spoke about what was good and what needed improvement he came up with answers to my problems not more questions and he never once pressured me to sign up for a 10 pack of lessons. The feeling I had was that he actually wanted to help me get better not make money from me as he made my game worse and then better...and he even said," your game doesn't have to get worse before it gets better" I have never heard this before ...He also made sense on many levels especially analytically and factually, which in turn made me feel confidant in what he was saying. I have continued to take lessons from him weekly since February and it is now the end of May.. My last 4 rounds are 76, 75, 74, and 69. I wish I could say I figured it out but the reality is that Ben figured me out and taught me in a way that was suited for my swing and my game. He individualized his teachings to my needs not everyone else's needs. He did not try to change my swing so it looked like anyone else's swing but rather he worked with my swing, my body and my mind to make me a better player and achieve my potential. We did use other people's swings next to mine to show what moves we are working on and why, to reinforce that it made sense but never did we try to copy anyone's swing. He is aware and spoke openly about my swing being mine no one else's, again reinforcing my confidence in him as a teacher. I am hitting draws again, literally it has been 5 years since I could draw a golf ball and I can still hit fades. I have gained the 20+ yards back I lost (that I thought the gym would get me) and am confidant again over the ball. I am playing close to the best golf of my life and we are only 3 months in !! As well as the weather in chicago has not been the best so basically overnight Ben has taken me from my grave to a rebirth ..my first few rounds were similar to those I had at the end of the year 81, 83, 82 and so on but not 92 or higher so he was true to his word it never got worse, it stayed the same and is now headed in the right direction. I am not a salesman but I can say this, Ben knows what he is doing 100% and he helped me enjoy the game again which was no easy task. It will take much more work and commitment this I am aware of. Anyone looking for direction and guidance in this game will NOT be disappointed from Ben. His teaching style and manner is good for anyone I feel. I have never been a good iron player, but the last 2 seasons have been the worst it's ever been. I can usually get off the tee in play but I rarely have chances to score because my 2nd (and sometimes 3rd or 4th) shot with an iron in hand are so consistently poor and unpredictable. I am now 3 months into lessons (weekly or bi-weekly) with Ben Thulin and despite being mostly confined to a simulator due to the Chicago winter, I am already having so much more fun swinging the club. Ben listened to my struggles and then helped me set goals and formulate a program to reach them. So far, he has helped my make incremental changes to my swing that are sustainable and founded on good fundamentals and athleticism. Ben has a great knowledge of the golf swing and with each new concept/drill that is introduced, he does a good job of explaining the change we're hoping to make AND why. Understanding the "why" behind what I'm being asked to do is huge for me and Ben helps me learn in both the physical sense and the conceptual sense. In terms of tangible results, I recently got back from a weekend golf trip and while I have limitless work to do, I already had noticeably more chances to score by being on or at least near the green in regulation. I will update this or post a new review later this year once once we're through this first program and I have a summer golf season under my belt, but I am very encouraged so far that I'll be able to take these improvements to the course. All that said, if you don't put the time in practicing, lessons from Ben or anyone else will do you no good. I practice a lot following our lessons which is why this is working for me. If you can't commit to multiple hours of practice per week outside of the lessons, you shouldn't expect to get results. In terms of the GolfTec location and technology, the simulators appear to be very accurate in all categories (ball flight, distance, etc.) and the camera view from face on and down the line that allows you to view yourself after each swing is super helpful. Staff are friendly and I've generally not had an issue with availability to come to practice or scheduling a lesson. There have been isolated instances where a sensor wasn't working but they simply moved me to another bay while that one got fixed. Overall, I would recommend Ben as a coach and this location as a good place to work on your game and get better. read more

I've been going to Golftec for a number of years now and have actually outlasted a couple of my coaches! I have always found that the facilities are well managed, setup and as another reviewer stated - great for keeping your game up over the winter. Their latest venture for building out into the accompanying space is awesome and allows for even more room to practice. They even have club fitting, regripping, etc. now on site. The coaches that I have worked with over the years have all been very involved in my development as a golfer. Currently my coach TJ does a great job of listening and trying to make sure that I "get" it before sending me on my way. Note: This is not the magic pill if you want to get good at golf. The lessons ARE only 30 minutes long and don't expect your coach to push someone back for you. It's up to you to come in - pay attention in your lessons - review what you worked on (they have a great website and even mobile app now for your videos) - and practice practice practice. read more

This place is fantastic. I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but this place deserves one. I worked at a golf course in my teens and loved the game, but gave it up in college because I was frustrated with my swing flaws and didn't want to turn them into lifelong problems. Almost 15 years later, I decided to pick up golf clubs again. After about 6 months, I realized I needed some help. Enter GolfTec. First, I have to say that I've really improved under the tutelage of Andrew Smith. He's a great coach for someone like me- very positive, communicates really well, and is a pleasure to work with. Every single time I've had a lesson with Andrew, I've improved more than I ever can by myself at the range. Basically, I'll get "stuck" doing something wrong in my swing, and then even if I figure it out, then I start doing something else wrong; this secondary error is hard for me to diagnose on my own. However, it only takes Mr. Smith watching a swing or two and he can instantly tell me what I'm doing wrong. He also provides guidance in an easy-to-understand way. I guess what I'm saying is, the guy has helped me tremendously and I'm kind of surprised at how much improvement I've seen just from his coaching. Second, the place is a lot of fun and has a cool setup that really helps you improve your game. They have a bunch of hitting rooms (not bays, rooms) with easy-to-use video equipment to help you track your swing plane, stance, contact, etc, with three monitors set up in each room. There are two on the wall, and one down near the hitting mat. The two on the wall show your shot view and shot data, while the monitor near where you're hitting shows your swing from straight on and back views, and has large buttons you can hit with the butt end of your club to rewind/fast forward, go in slow motion forward and back, etc. Third, they can also hook you up to their body monitoring machine while you're practicing, which measures every important body angle throughout the swing to work on fine-tuning. Fourth, they have a nice practice putting green, which comes in handy during the winter months. Finally, this place is convenient. I live in north Lincoln Park, and there's nowhere nearby to hit balls during the colder months (i.e., late November through mid-March; I'm not going to Diversey Driving Range in 30 degree weather). During the warmer months, there's nowhere nearby which has the equipment and staff of GolfTec Halsted to help you make the most out of your practice. So, in sum, if you're on the fence, go in. It's a great experience. Talk to the people that work there-- they're all very friendly guys and won't make you feel like a moron if you (like me) are someone who struggles to break 100. For what it's worth, I feel GolfTec can help anyone improve-- even someone with a single-digit handicap; the equipment combined with the personnel make it something I think every golfer could benefit from. read more

I signed up for the 15-lesson and practice package. When I started, I was a 24 handicap. I am now halfway through my lessons and I'm already down to a 17. This is good for my golf game and my confidence, and bad for my weekend golf gambling habit. I've taken a few lessons at the range with other instructors. It's not the same. In fact, you get more out of 30-minute lesson at Golftec than you do from a 60-minute lesson on the range. The difference is the technology. At Golftec, you are connected to sensors and are videotaped from 2 angles. The sensors measure 6 different angles at address, top of your swing, and impact. They then compare those angles to those of players on the PGA tour. In one of my first lessons, I only swung the club 6 times. By the end of the lesson, I was hitting my 7-iron 15-20 yards further, and that was only with changes to my setup. (That's how bad I was.) I also highly suggest taking at least 1 putting lesson. Apparently the putting grip is completely different from the swing grip. After one putting lesson, my friends were shocked to see me sink 6 one-putts on the front 9 of Stonewall Orchard. Granted, that was a fluke, but still, my putting has been at least 40% better since that lesson. I've worked with a few instructors at Golftec in the past, and they are all great. But if you're rich like me, spend the few extra bucks to hire Ben. He's a true golf nerd, and a natural teacher. What I like about him is primarily 2 things: 1. Even though I'm hooked up to the sensors and Ben can see my angles, he never shares them with me. Instead, he identifies the reason for my swing problems, and finds the simplest way to correct them. 2. Ben understands that it doesn't do much good to teach an amateur (or even a pro) the "perfect swing". Because, as we all know from watching Phil Mickelson on TV, even a pro with millions of dollars who practices daily can have a bad day. So instead, Ben teaches you how to hit the ball with the toe, heel, and center of the iron; how to hit the ball to the extreme left and right using strong and weak grips, etc. Because when you're on the course, there are hundreds of reasons why your swing could be a bit off, and you need to know how to adjust for that in real time. Golftec is expensive. But golf is much more expensive. If you're serious about the game, and want to enjoy it for a lifetime, make the investment. read more

Simply put, they don't run a good business. To be honest, I've never had good experiences with golf professionals; they just don't have the business acumen to run a successful business. To start, they have never answered the phone when I call and I always have to wait 24 hrs for a callback. A slight testament to their customer service. Here's my experience. I went in for a driver fitting and while the man who helped was nice, he was just kind of incompetent. He didn't have clear suggestions and I was willingly open to defer to his "professional" opinion, but he just didn't have any strong convictions either way. On top of this, they didn't have all of the brands they claimed to have for me to try so I was relegated to only hitting two types of drivers. I also couldn't hit an extra-stiff shaft because it was broken. Therefore, I couldn't really make a decision on what driver I wanted because they just didn't have the equipment for me to try out. This led to me going to Golfsmith to try all the brands GolfTec didn't have. The sales associate at Golfsmith was actually incredibly helpful and allowed me to hit for as long as I wanted and commented on what he thought may be best for me. I decided on a driver there, but still wanted the custom options which had been chosen for me at GolfTec. I called them back to let them know which driver I wanted and they let me know they would place the order immediately, which they did. Because I paid for expedited processing and shipping the driver showed up 4 days after the order was placed (awesome!). Open up the box anddddd........it's a right-handed club (I'm left-handed). So now I have paid $100 for a fitting and extra $ for faster processing, which is money down the tubes. I was honestly willing to forgive the sub-par experience I had at GolfTec, but for them to order me a wrong handed driver compounded with the overall crapiness of the experience, it just put me over the edge. The unfortunate thing is, there are not a lot of options for club customization in the Chicagoland area (unless you belong to a club). Maybe a different GolfTec location would be better, but I wouldn't bet on it. read more

I am posting this review as it relates to my golf instructor, Don Parker. I will NOT incorporate my thoughts and opinions on GolfTEC the company or the Halsted Row location. I have been working with Don for approximately six months and the expereince has been extremely positive. Without a doubt, he genuinely cares about his students. His dedication to the game of golf and passion for teaching are ideal for effective golf instruction. I have been plagued with the same swing issues since I began the game approximately 15 years ago. When we began working together, Don made incremental changes starting with the most basic of changes...the set up and posture at address. Right away I noticed the difficulty in breaking bad habits. As we progressed and the changes continued, my frustration level began to increase. I even got to the point where I didn't want to play anymore. My handicap soared as my rebuilt swing evolved. This is where I think Don is the most effective. He provided reassurances during every step of the process, kept me focused, provided positive feedback, and communicated that I was progressing at a pace that was consistent with my swing changes. Suddenly last week everything began to click. My swing was relaxed, I slowed everything down, focused on the basics, and had perhaps the best ball striking round in many years. At first I thought this was an aberration, so I scheduled some practice time and a 60 minute lesson yesterday. Indeed this was not an aberration. I am now swinging the club more on plane and my weight transfer has dramatically improved. Coach Don was very happy! Now I am swinging with confidence and feel much more relaxed. A BIG thanks to Don for keeping me focused and being a great teacher. If you are considering signing up for lessons at the Hastead Row location, I strongly suggest you ask for Don Parker to be you coach. read more

I had a coach changed on me after almost 15 lessons and got a new coach with no explanation, refund of paid costs etc. I had to start fresh with the new coach who was great but had to spend additional monies to complete a full set of lessons. Golftec is the most effective way I've found to improve your game. Combining 2 angle video, simulation ball flight tracking, and expert lessons is by far the best way to change your swing and improve your game. You can judge the value of the technology for yourself so I will focus my review on the instruction. In the past I have taken lessons with two other Golftec pros at the Schaumburg facility and also have taken lessons with several club pros at private clubs. My coach at the Halsted Row Golftec location is TJ Sullivan, who also manages the facility. I have been working with TJ for the last 9 months. I am a 24 handicap and my goal was to be able to consistently play in the 90's. Through about 15 lessons over this time period, TJ has slowly but surely modified my swing and undone over 20 years of bad habits. As a result, I now hit my irons considerably longer, higher, and straighter than ever before. Before my lessons with TJ I would hit my 8 iron 125 yards with a low ball flight. I now fly it over 150 yards with a high trajectory. TJ's strength is his ability to set realistic goals from the outset and to make changes to your swing incrementally - never giving you too many changes or trying to introduce new changes before you are able to execute the prior ones. This "peeling the onion" approach has been extremely effective for me and has enabled me to fundamentally restructure my swing - for the better. What differentiates TJ from prior instructors I've had is his methodical (and maniacal) step-by-step approach to introducing changes to your swing - and the sequence of change he follows. If you are willing to be patient, TJ's approach is extremely effective. Like any type of instruction, to be successful you have to practice between lessons. I typically practice 3-4 hours between each lesson. If you take this approach with TJ you can be assured of achieving the type of improvements I've seen. read more

I have been a student at GolfTEC Halsted Row for 6 years. As an older female golfer with no prior experience in the game, my Coach T.J. Sullivan has taken me from a 50 handicap to a 16....I am currently playing in (and winning) many golf tournaments and my confidence level has soared as my skills have kept improving. The golf swing is hard and takes time and commitment.....for the student dedicated to really improving in all aspects of the game, GolfTEC is the place to go. Its newly expanded facility gives the student plenty of quality practice time on state of the art equipment and video that gives you instant feedback. During the summer, we have once a week outdoor sessions at the Golf Center in DesPlaines. All lessons are downloaded to my personal GolfTEC website so I can review the lessons and drills at home or on my iphone. My Coach has always made himself available to myself and his other students via email, telephone, text, etc. The Halsted Row location is constantly improving and hiring high quality PGA teaching professionals...I would highly recommend GolfTEC as the premier golf learning center.....lessons and practice 12 months of the year.....rain or shine!!! read more

At the risk of hyperbole (oops, already guilty of this), Ben is without a doubt the most effective instructor with whom I have worked. I am a 65yo, high handicap golfer who still wants to improve. I recently began working with Ben. In one session he changed my approach to driving off the tee that immediately, yes, immediately (!) increased my driver distance by an average of 25 yards. After all the time I have spent on the course, and in lessons, to me this is nothing short of a miracle. Unsurprisingly, I am enthusiastically looking forward to more lessons at Golftec. I would recommend a 10 lesson package with Jeremy. I have taken many lessons in my life. He listened to my goals. I told him I wanted one or two (at the most) concepts each lesson. He wrote reviews after each lesson. I worked hard on the concepts and came prepared for the next lesson. Jeremy's lesson plan is working and I am looking forward to the upcoming season. Horrible customer service; I was lied to. I called GolfTEC at around 7 PM tonight to see if they re-grip golf clubs and if they were able to do the job within 24 hours. Nobody picked up the phone originally, but I was able to leave a voicemail that included my name and number. Pete called me back 15 minutes later and informed me that a 24 hour turnaround was no problem, as long as I brought in my own grips. I confirmed with him that I would drop my clubs off with grips by 9 PM that evening. I jumped in my car roughly 45 minutes later to make the 30 minute round-trip drive to GolfTEC. After parking and walking in to the store, I told the guy at the front desk about the conversation that I had with Pete, and he said that a 24 hour turnaround was NOT possible. He said that he was actually standing next to Pete while Pete was on the phone with me, and he told Pete afterwards that the turnaround couldn't be that fast. I asked the guy at the front desk why they couldn't call me to tell me this before I made the 30 minutes round trip drive, and he had no response. To reiterate, him and his staff did not even bother calling me and saving me the thirty minute trip. To add insult to injury, the guy at the front desk was not very apologetic, and rather than admitting that he (and GolfTEC) messed up on this one, he put the blame on his co-worker Pete. I started taking lessons with Ben Thulin last summer. In short: I've seen significant improvement with my game. Thulin does well at working around my busy schedule, while putting a healthy amount of pressure on me to practice and be consistent with lessons. The positives with Ben are that he understands that not every student is the same, and spends each lesson targeting specifically what I need (as opposed to some cookie cutter plan I could read online). He spends a good amount of time talking about the physics behind each motion, which at first can be overwhelming, but when it starts to click, it becomes clear why "knowing" that information can benefit my game. The only negative I found is that it's difficult to find open sessions to practice at the their facility. However, anytime I was in dire need of practicing, Ben found a way to make an opening available, which I greatly appreciated. read more

I've been taking lessons here about 5 weeks and im really happy with the results. Brian Draeger is my instructor and he's been great addressing my questions and reining me in when I try to move too fast. He's a righty but has been learning to play left-handed so he has a great feel for what beginners go through. read more

GREAT place to keep your game sharp over the winter!! I recently moved from warmer weather to Chicago, so I was really worried about how rusty my game would get. Golftec has been a great way to not only keep practicing, but I also feel like I'm hitting the ball with much more consistency. My favorite part is that I have a personal swing coach, who not only helps me with every lesson, but also gives me recordings of my swing so that I can go back and review what we worked on while I'm in-between lessons. I'm almost finished with a 10 lesson pack after just two months, and I will definitely goin back for more! read more

Both my son and I have been taking lessons through this location for about a year and half and I couldn't be more pleased. My index has gone from a 13.7 down to a 7.7 currently. My 16 year old son went from about a 20 handicap down to a current index of 8.5. Huge results for a relatively short period of time. Ben Thulin has been great. He is very accommodating with the lesson schedule and adapts his teaching to match how the student learns best. Their facility is state of the art and therefore encourages you to go back often for practce. Your lesson package includes unlimited practice time so that is a HUGE benefit. There really is no substitute for the video analysis. Being able to use this video analysis on your own during practices is invaluable. If you have the time to devote to practicing, you can't go wrong with taking lessons here and taking advantage of their knowledge and video tools. I recommend Golftec to anyone who is serious about getting better at golf. Hit 'em straight! read more

I rarely write reviews, but I felt in this instance it was necessary. There are few things that you need to know before you pony up a good deal of money on lessons at this place. 1.) I originally signed up for the 10 lessons package in September 2012 at the Golftec that was in the Golfsmith on Clybourn. I was told I had 12 months to use the 10 lessons. Seemed reasonable. During the course of my lessons the instructor I was using left Golftec as well as all the clients were moved to the Halsted location. I was told that I would get an extra lesson for the inconvenient. Around Christmas time I picked up my lessons again and had 7 more to use. Fast forward to the end of March, I had used 4 more over the next few months so had 3 + the free one left and was told that my membership was about to expire. I did not understand this as I was given a piece of paper when I paid $800+ saying I had 12 months to use the lessons. I was told I was never supposed to get that paper and I really had 3 months to use the lessons. Alternatively I was told if I pay for 10 more lessons then they will roll my remaining lessons in to the new package! Seriously this is boarder line extortion. I followed up with several calls and was never called back. So apparently my lessons are gone! 2.) As stated by another review, I do not think any of my lessons at this location ever went the full time. For a 30 min session it would start late and end early. 3.) You have to work around their schedule not the other way around. Which again makes it difficult for someone that works long hours. Overall the guy that I was working with (I will not name names) knew what he was talking about and did help my game. But I feel very shortchanged by not getting what I paid for and then being upsold after I had forked over a good amount of $$$ and then no one ever having the spades to call me back. I would avoid this place and save your money to work with a professional at a top course in the area. read more

One of my buddy's had a good experience with a GolfTEC at a different location, so I had high hopes when I had the Groupon for an hour session, and happened to schedule it here because they had availability. Well, my hour session was more like 45 min, because they started me 15 min late, probably because a regular was before me, which is totally understandable that a regular paying customer you'd give extra time to. So I walk in, I can't say they're all that friendly, maybe because it was end of the day or because I had a Groupon, but it's GolfTEC's fault for having a groupon a while back, and as such, should really be accommodating for anyone walking through the door. I really felt like half the time they were trying to get me to commit to buying regular lessons on a weekly or biweekly basis. Sure maybe that's what the goal of the Groupon was, to get people to check out GolfTEC and get a few new loyal customers, but I honestly just wanted to check it out and see what it was like instead of getting interrogated on my time commitment schedule. Maybe it was just my instructor that I had that day, but he wasn't all that helpful. Based on this experience I would not go back here or recommend this location, I've heard the other locations are better. read more

Ben is outstanding. After just two lessons I am hitting my 7 iron over 20 yards further. The change in ball flight is unreal. There is no comparison between his lessons and the ones you can get at golf courses. I am kicking myself for not going to Golftec years earlier. I recently took lessons at the Halsted location from Ben Thulin.. Prior to that, my golf experience was limited to a few month's worth of driving ranges and a few 9-hole courses. With Ben's guidance and the use of Golftec's state of the art facility, I was able to improve my game tremendously in a very short period of time. In fact, last Sunday I shot a 46 on the front nine. Before Ben's lessons, this would have been above 60. Best money I ever spent on golf. I enjoy the game so much more now. Thanks Ben! read more

Just not a well run facility. Some instructors are ok, many are not. The turnover is amazingly high so don't expect to have the same instructor for long. I'd strongly recommend taking your time and money and going to a real course. For me, that would mean a long drive the the burbs but I have to tell you it's night and day. read more
