They have a decent selection of sportswear and gear at reasonable price points. I visited this location in search of snow pants for a recent ski trip. I was able to snag a pair of Columbia snow pants which surprisingly required no alterations at 60% off. For me that deal is a steal because ski gear isn't cheap! There was a decent amount of staff working the floor and when one of them noticed I needed a fitting room, they were quick to get me into one. This sporting goods store is tucked within the NEWCITY outdoor shopping mall. Garage parking was free for the first two hours if you validate here or at Mariano's. read more

A bit more compact than some other DICK's Sporting good locations in Chicago but this location has all the different apparel and equipment you need for a wide variety of sports. It seems to me that if you're looking for larger home gym equipment, they don't have a lot of it on display here but if you're looking for sports equipment, branded apparel, golf equipment, and other smaller items -- you'll find what you're looking for at fairly reasonable prices. The checkout here is efficient and friendly and there's staff walking around the store if you have questions. read more

My husband and I went into DICK'S Sporting Goods to see if we could find any deals. It was our first time there, so we walked around the whole store to get the layout. We found a green Saint Patrick's Day hoodie and t-shirt on sale for over 50%off. Green is my favorite color, so I was pretty happy with the selection. I will be super stylish next March. I was really happy to come here! The customer service was stellar! I was looking for Adidas Workout Pants. The sales representative actually walked me over to the section!!!! I would like to go back and explore more of their offerings as it is a huge store and I had very little time. They do offer "officially licensed" Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs shirts, hats, socks, water bottles, blankets, etc. at what appears to be a reasonable prices and there is quite a plethora of styles and options! I love camping and kayaking and Dicks has some camping equipment and several different kinds of kayaks.

My wife bought his and her bikes on the website based on the sizing tool. I am a larger than average man, so I was surprised to see an average sized bike. After a few rides on the new bike, there was in issue with the handle bars that resulted in me taking a spill, there was also an issue with the pedals that I could not fix at home, so I brought the bike back in. Fast forward a week later and I had more issues with this same bike. When I brought the bike back the second time, the bike techs, James and Dan, spoke with me and their manager, Rodolfo. 20 minutes later Rudy (Rodolfo) set me up with an upgraded larger bike. I am ecstatic with the customer service in this department and would not buy a bike at another location. I would recommend 5/5! read more

I came here quickly to get two Sox hats and the lady who rung me up was really friendly. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was a black lady with good friendly energy. I really do like that this store has free parking if you validate your ticket. Not sure why they even have a shoe department, they've never once had any shoes in stock. You're lucky if you can get the salesmen to end their personal conversations to talk to you, but even if you do get their attention, it doesn't matter. Ask them about a shoe size, and they just say "no". Not, "let me see if another store has it". Not "I'm sorry let me see if we have something similar". Just "no". Terrible customer service, and no inventory. Why even have a store? read more

Went in the dressing room and it was filthy. Like dust bunnies and dirt that was so bad it had not been cleaned in some time. The shoe department only had one person working who was not very knowledgeable. Took forever just to get them to bring me shoes to try on. Overall I was not impressed. read more

This is the ultimate place for all of your sporting needs! It was my first time visiting the store when I went searching for some volleyball knee pads and a ball. I was pleasantly surprised by how readily available the store reps were to help me locate what I needed and to assist with any questions I had about products and their comparisons. This place had everything for almost every sport and activity, tons of clothes and shoes and VALIDATED garage parking. I found some cool Nike knees pads and an affordable Dick's brand ball. I was happy to find exactly what I needed in store because I didn't have the luxury of time to go through Amazon. Special shout out to Shaun my cashier for signing me up for the customer loyalty rewards program. I'm excited to rack up some points. I'll definitely be back for more shopping. read more

Big store with a lot of stuff, just not the ones you need. Went there to buy running shoes, and they didn't have too many sizes. Also most of them were incredibly overpriced, compared to online prices. The staff is very friendly though and very willing to help you, which was nice. read more

My boyfriend and I are visiting from Georgia. We were planning to go to a cubs game so we of course we went to Dicks to get shirts to support the team. Upon entering the building from the escalator the store looked well lit and fully stocked. We found the first employee and asked them were to find cubs gear. He pointed us to the back corner where we started looking for our pieces. Everything was cool until the security guard was weirdly following us around while we were shopping. For the security guard to be a young black man around the same age as us we could not believe that he would make us feel uncomfortable. I tried on a shirt and left without spending a dime. I've worked in retail previously and treating your guest like thieves is not the proper way to deter theft. If you can avoid this store please do at all cost ! read more

I have vowed to keep myself and my girlfriend away from dicks forever. Dealing with dicks can be hard and frustrating. They weren't satisfying our needs and found they had left stains on a bunch of the clothing. Dicks was also just really poor at servicing us ... taking too long and just not knowing how to perform their basic responsibilities. I just wanted to feel respected and loved by dicks, but it wasn't happening. I am now anti-dicks and will never give $$ to dicks ever again. They above statement hold 100% truth. Super nice Dick's Sporting Goods. The little shopping center at New City is beautiful, very nicely maintained and its clearly new. Dick's is on the second floor right on the corner. Entrance from outside or if you are already in New City in the circle, there is an entrance on that side too. They have anything you could be looking for related to outdoors and sports. Even found some very good sales for outdoor gear! Checkout right in the middle in between both sets of escalators. Elevators available as well. read more

As you walk into this location there is a big sign talking about the history of dicks and how they began as a fishing store way back when. It's pretty depressing that they carry no fishing supplies at all! Not even a child's pole. The joke is on me. This store it terrible. They carry the lowest quality lines of all your favorite products. Junk from corner to corner. Golf must be huge with chicago's populous as that's about all they have, the lowest quality products related to golf and nothing more. Need sweat pants? That's great we have the lowest line covered there too. Save money, shop online, the future of commerce is online and dicks is on its way out of this world. Came in here to ask if they carried any cross country skis but none of the sales associates asked if I needed help with anything. I looked all around the store to find some skis and 2 associates passed by me and nothing, not even a hello. The store didn't have many customers, so it was not busy. Overall, the store is clean and organized. They have a variety of sports equipment, apparel, and footwear. My only complaint is that the workers need to be more interactive with their customers. read more

Awful-awful experience. I ordered NIKE shoes online and came to the store to return them ($99 price) - also had the WORST experience purchasing them via online customer service but that's a whole other story. Once the shoes were scanned in system, amount to be refunded was $47. Once I mentioned the issue, the lead cashier said "no problem" and processed second refund of $52 to match the price. Of course system alerted it as a fraud (second refund transaction for the same item) and only processed $47 after 4 days. So my bank statement had only $47 refund and I no longer had shoes on hands. I called the bank - bank mentioned that I had to square it out with the store. Called customer service - no help. Tried online support - was advised to call the customer service. Call again - no help. Locked circle. I went back with my receipts to the store and, of course, the lead cashier was not there but manager on duty told me to reach out to the bank. After back and forth, I just asked to charge me $47 back and I would take shoes and would sell them on eBay because it was getting ridiculous. After hearing this manager went back to the cashier and just refunded me the second amount with no issues whatsoever. I wonder how hard was it to refund it in the first place once I presented all receipts and shared my frustration at the first place without going through 5 circles of hell instead? read more

Do not ever shop at Dicks. Went there looking for Cubs gear and had to use the restroom. The most disgusting, unsanitary place I have ever seen. Each stall had the toilet paper dispenser broken open and there was no paper. The garbage can was over flowing and paper all over the floor. There was toilet paper on the floor with feces on it. I spoke to the store manager and she explained they had been busy. I was just dumbfounded at that excuse. I have notified the health department. read more

I went in to swing a few golf clubs and the person manning the simulator was awful to deal with. He was recommending cavity back irons to a single-digit handicapper and trying to give everyone unsolicited lessons. It was a very uncomfortable process and I wouldn't recommend getting any clubs there - go to Club Champion where they have knowledgeable reps. read more

Oh my lord this place has everything! Seriously, all they need is a grocery section, pharmacy and takeout Thai and they will pretty much have everything I need. Unbelievable. Let me start by saying the women's clothing section is outstanding. Lucy, Under Armour, Nike, and a beautiful line by Carrie Underwood (had never heard of it). They honestly really studied their market for this one. Not only do they have an outstanding women's sports apparel section, but a really sweet collection of women's running shoes. Add a a few more black styles though, as that is what is in high demand right now. There is sufficient online selection, but for this location, please add more in store. From what I can see, the men's stuff looks good too! I went to pick up a winter hat for my husband and they had a ton of styles and the coat section was great. It was sectioned out by style and there were winter accessories on the same rack for each (Burton, North Face, etc.). I really liked the layout of that. Don't get me started on the kid's stuff. They have EVERYTHING and I mean it. I'll never have to shop anywhere else for sports stuff (maybe tennis whites, but that's it). The staff is super helpful as well when it comes to kids. I had a guy help me with baseballs and gloves and my husband went back to buy his own glove. Guess what? The staff member stretched out the glove for my husband to break it in. Maybe they do that at other stores, but I thought it was great! The golf section looks incredible! I haven't purchased anything golf-related, but the section has a ton of stuff and a practice area as well to help with custom clubs/fitting etc. I'm extremely happy to have this store in our neighborhood! The staff is ALWAYS and I mean always friendly. They must have had some intense training because a lot of them are just kids, but go out of their way to help - they really do. Some of them are pretty darn funny too. So happy to have this location open so close and I will be a loyal shopper! read more

Really great sports store in Chicago-- which is very much needed in our city! I have always struggled with Chicago's lack of good big box sporting stores. I visit them as a much needed evil and try to go as infrequently as possible. In fact, I often pay a higher price tag to go to the smaller boutique stores because our big box stores frankly suck. Enter the brand spankin' new Dicks Sporting's Goods. huge multi-level store, sparkling clean new construction, extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff, and goods/brands/options galore! This place is like the suburban big box stores, in the city! My dreams are now complete, and I will no longer dread heading to the sports store when I'm in need of a new pair of running shorts. The customer service in here is top notch! They carry an amazing selection of sporting goods equipment. From basketball to hunting. Prices are what you would expect any sporting goods place to be. I don't come here for the price i come here for the service. The brand new building is amazing inside and out. Great location in the middle of it all. RIP my cruddy old Sports Authority! Now that its gone I had to go into the lions den of Lincoln Park to get my kid some shin guards for soccer season. What a nightmare. First off, someone thought it was a great idea to build a big, old fashioned MALL in the middle of a city. Why?!? If us city-dwellers wanted malls we'd move to Shaumburg (*shudder*). What a stupid waste of space. And all those crappy chain restuarants and stores that overcharge for everything and have no character at all. God I hate whats happening in this town. Give us small, walkable, local stores on a gritty city street, not this corporate crap with fake art. Yeesh! On the plus side, I was there in the middle of the day and the whole area 'inside' the mall was dead. Duh! This is my first time in this particular store and it's huge. Has a lot of name brand everything not at all on sale, so if you like that, this is your place. My problem was that theres really no signage or any logic to where different sections are. I'm in a hurry and just want kids shin guards and kids soccer socks and I couldv'e been talked into kids soccer shorts too but none of those things are in the same location. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. In fact, those three things are in opposing corners of this massive store with no signs. I was lost in a giant golfing section forever before I found a teeny rack of random 'sports gear' where the shin guards are, kids and adults all together. Then the socks are way on the other side of the store with all the shoes and socks for kids and adults all sports all mixed together. And then had I wanted shorts, those where in a secret side area with random kids clothes, coats, rain pants, just all random mixed together and maybe one option of soccer shorts. There was almost no one in this huge store and it didn't seem like a fun place to work at all. I give this Dicks and the weird mall around it less than a year before the whole thing goes belly up and turns into condos. read more
