I have purchased several pairs of shoes, as well as some tennis accessories from this store and until recently I had only had positive experiences. After purchasing a pair of shoes that wore down more quickly than other pairs I had purchased elsewhere in the past, I asked an employee at Strings Attached for help with selecting a more durable shoe. He directed me to another shoe that was more expensive than the one I had previously purchased that had worn down, but he assured me it would last much longer, so I purchased it. Flash forward a couple months, and this shoe has worn down EVEN MORE QUICKLY than the one I had before. When I went to the store to discuss this issue, I was just told that my shoe did not have a warranty and there was nothing they could do. They barely offered as much as a "sorry" as I explained to them that this more expensive shoe, purchased entirely based on the guidance of their employee, did not last nearly as long as the less expensive shoe I had purchased previously. As a repeat customer who was clearly steered wrong by their employee, I was expecting at least an attempt to right this wrong in some way. In a world with many options for purchasing shoes, including numerous online outlets, I was hoping customer service would be a strong point of this local racquet shop, but instead it was completely lacking in my recent experience. read more

I came here to buy a new tennis racquet, overall experience was amazing. A few notes: 1. Ton of racquet to choose from, mostly in the $200 range. If you want something cheaper, may not be the best place for you. 2. They will price match if you find a better deal online (check out tennis-warehouse for a good comp on what you should be paying). 3. They let you demo racquets. I ended up testing 5 of them and had up to 3 out at a time at one point. They charge $10 a pop to demo but if you end up buying from them, they'll take the whatever you paid in demo fees off the price of what you bought. They ended up allowing me to demo 3 racquets for free but I also promised I'd buy from them, wasn't expecting it but really cool of them to do that. 4. Their policy is to let you demo for up to 3 days but if you ask nicely, they'll let you have it for longer. Overall, they were extremely patient, friendly and know their stuff. I'm no expert on tennis racquets so really glad this place exists, got some great advice and generally couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. read more

Amazing customer service! I was getting my sticks restrung and to also get a new dampener because I had lost it while hitting. As I was asking for recommendations on dampeners Imran was stringing my racquet went into a drawer and pulled out a dampener that matched my racquet and I have been using it since. I offered to pay but he wouldn't allow it and I paid for my strings and thanked him for his kindness. Awesome service and shows that he loves the tennis world and its athletes. read more

I went here to get my racquet restrung about a month ago. On my way there, some dude in a Jaguar cut me off in traffic just before an intersection, then stopped short when I beeped at him. He stared at me in his rearview mirror, not moving until the last second which effectively left me stuck waiting at the light again. He was the only one who got through. Faith in humanity = lost. Then I came into Strings Attached to pick up my racquet. The turn time for the service had been very quick, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They didn't have record of whether I had paid when I dropped it off, but they took me on my word that I had. I also left with a new free grip and free Wilson gear (I received since my racquet is a Wilson). My experience here totally cancelled out that a-hole in the Jag. Thanks, Strings Attached!!! Once upon a time, I lived and breathed tennis. Watch, play, repeat. Then a knee injury happened on the court, and that sidelined my playing. Add a new job and all other factors of life, and you have yourself a 2 unstrung rackets, many hours not logged on the court, and an unconditioned tennis body. With a cooler Chicago summer, brings opportunity to play comfortably on a court. Hubs has been itching to go to this business for several year now but our move to a difference neighborhood prevented easy access. This husband and wife owned shop is well stocked with rackets, tape, strings, attire and such. Prices are reasonable and the duo knows their merchandise. They will gladly offer suggestions and feedback based on a players experience and skill set. Rackets are typically strung within 2 business days. They are open on weekends, Sundays too! Do not take your racquet to get strung here. They strung my son's racquet at a recommended tension. On his very first hit with the new strings, the frame cracked. When I brought it back to them, they refused to accept any responsibility. They claimed that my 8 year old son somehow hit the ball so hard that it broke his racquet. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to learn to play tennis after watching the Seren-a-thon domination this summer.....so we bought two super cheap tennis rackets at Target and started hitting the courts. We sucked. Big time. In an effort to make sure it was really us and not the rackets that were keeping us from 120 mph serves, we did a little research and decided to stop in at Strings Attached. We explained our level of play and price range, and felt totally comfortable with the options that were suggested. In fact, the racket that was most highly recommended was on sale and with strings, it was $1 under our budget - sold! Yes, we do think that the wonderful woman helping us decided to give us an even better deal than the sale price because she honestly thought the racket was going to suit our needs. We were fitted for grips, talked about what kind of strings we wanted, and were set. Not once did we feel uncomfortable because we were newbies or our price range was on the low side, and she didn't try to upsell us on anything. We picked up our newly strung rackets 24 hours later and so far we love them.
