And I have tried 2 years in a row. Both times I get an email stating and even giving an order number and tracking number. But I have never gotten one item. We have been a fan of chicago soccer. However, the customer service rep really made me feel unwelcomed. I had entered with my two year pushing a stroller. I often carry a back pack on these trips housing my sons medical supplies, my wallet and few misc items. I was approached upon entering that I needed to leave my back pack at the front. I explained to her that I would not leave my bag as it contains my wallet and medical supplies my son may need at any minute. I was told again to leave my bag. I decided to wait at exit for my other son and husband who were about to purchase soccer items for our son. It didn't take long before being joined by my family and ready to leave. My husband obviously couldn't stay nor give this establishment any sales by the way I was treated. The associate not once came back to apologize or say it was ok to continue browsing. I got dirty looks. I guess in her heart she would put my son at risk without having his medical supplies immediately on hand? We noticed several store patrons carrying large bags and backpacks. I needed indoor turf shoes for my son. I ordered a pair of shoes called turf shoes and received outdoor cleats instead. I emailed them and they asked for a pic of the shoes and received no response. I sent a follow up email next and again received no response. I finally found on their website their return policy (it's very well hidden from the consumer btw). They don't allow returns! Only for defective merchandise. I will be much more careful to order from reputable companies that offer return or exchange in the future. I'm out $50 and have useless outdoor cleats. When a company can't fulfill an order, they usually call, email or text. Not Chicago Soccer. Placed an order in early October for grandson's bday. Was told orders go out next day. It is now November 12th, way past his 7th bday, and order still shows as "processing" on their website. I had paid for expedited shipping. Obviously, not happening. The choir of angels began singing the moment I stepped through the door. And the bright light was blinding. I really thought I was in soccer heaven; a place where the beautiful game is the biggest sport in the United States and the others are just pretenders to the throne. Not even in the United Kingdom at team shops had I seen so many jerseys, t-shirts, hats, flags, scarfs, and even bracelets (I picked myself up an slightly overly-jingoistic United States one). And it wasn't just the ones I had seen elsewhere like the omnipresent Brazil jerseys. They had such an impressive selection, they even had home and aways of Slovenia's "Fighting Charlie Browns" jerseys (though, hopefully they didn't sell many - whining bastards)! Sadly, it seemed I had waited too long as every soccer fan in Chicagoland had already made their World Cup pilgrimage here. The only United States jersey left was Landon Donovan. And, well, no self-respecting Chicago Fire fan can be seen in that outside of World Cup time. Which reminds me, they are still carrying the Landon Donovan Everton jersey in their huge club top selection which is amazing. Now admission to heaven comes at a price. The jerseys are $70.00 a pop (but that's about going rate and it saves shipping and handling from having to order it on the web). And it will cost you a small piece of sanity dealing with the staff. At check-out, there were more people working the registers than in the box on a free kick but somehow none of them were checking people out very quickly. I'm sure it's better once the once-every-four year fans stop swarming the store though. Also, one star off for carrying vuvuzela (those horns that make the horrible droning sound during matches). Chicago Soccer claims to only carry things related to soccer and, well, those things have no place anywhere near a pitch. Ever. So they're completely unrelated to the beautiful game. What a fun place to go. Every time I need a present for my dad I come here. They've got Arsenal gear, US national team gear, and Fire stuff. So I know I can find something new that my dad will like. Plus I can get something for myself. This isn't the cheapest place to get soccer stuff, but it has a decent selection. And they used to have a great selection of cleats (they may still have a great selection, I just haven't bought a pair in years). This is a great one stop shop for everything soccer related. Around a week and a half ago the shoes ended up ripping super easily. When I emailed adidas about it they got back to me saying that products purchased from Chicago soccer were not valid for refund through them. My son plays for FC Drive, a local soccer travel team. I ordered his uniform 2 weeks before his first game. Then, I called and asked if the order was ready to be picked up. The woman on the phone didn't even seem to be aware she worked at a store that sold soccer gear. Finally, someone came on the line and told me the order was ready to be picked up. So, it's Saturday, the day before the first game.....our whole family treks up to Lincoln Square. And we waited a full 45 minutes in the store.....and we left with.....a pair of shoes, game socks and a made-on-the-spot unofficial team t-shirt. We spoke with no fewer than 5 employees, none of whom had an explanation for why we were waiting so long when we were told the order was ready. The customer service here is absolutely abysmal. Check out the clearance racks for old jersey styles, t-shirts, and shorts. The prices aren't cheap, but hey, they're not unlike NFL jerseys (that cost over $150 sometimes). Today my heart stopped beating today. Reason 105,221 to live in Albany Park: You can get to Chicago Soccer in under fifteen minutes flat. Earlier in the morning, Michael G. was clawing his way to Chicago Soccer without so much as a tweet to invite me to pick up new gear! I laughed as he huffed and puffed trying to get back home in time for the Brazil-Ivory Coast match. None of this extra exertion would have been needed had he lived in Albany Park, like myself! Watching Facebook, I saw postings of a picture of Chicago Soccer and inquired on the existence of the vuvuzela that I decided not to buy online since my French Football Federation jersey hadn't arrived from China when it was ordered two weeks ago! So it unfolded that indeed there were vuvuzelas, and quite naturally - I rushed off to get my VUVUZELAAAAAAAA!!!! In a short bit of time, for me I could have waited for the bus but instead I hopped four stops on the Brown Line and ***BOOM*** - I was there. The first door opened and the second door led to cool air conditioning and a wall of Chicago Fire jerseys. Chicago Fire?! No, where is my FFF jersey?! I began my search with the World Cup playing on a TV overhead tuned into Univision with the Spanish commentators. Overall a superb soccer store. Great selection and a real sense of attention to getting a diversity of items in--the cleats we need, jerseys from teams all over the world--the type of balance between fan-oriented items and player-oriented items. This is harder to do than one might presume: even the divisions within giant companies like Nike or adidas for replica/fan items (e.g., a Manchester City jersey) vs complete custom uniforms for teams are totally different departments. So when you ask "why do they have the new Barça shirt but don't have my sons' U-13 team's jersey ready?", well this is at least part of the probable answer to that. I have seen stores I feel are a bit better, yes, but even my very favorite soccer store of all (United World Soccer of Orlando) has a staff that's pretty hit or miss. Some are great, some not so much. I'm not sure what it is about soccer stores that breeds this issue: I've been in ample running stores and other sport-specific stores and not found the same problem, but I've encountered customer service here which while not rude certainly, is at times . . . spotty. That said, it is better than most. By far. Try to go in in person or order via their website though: on the phone seems like the worst way to communicate here. Despite what one disgruntled parent said, they DO have girl's cleats and clothing here. Look at their website. They do. I have coached soccer and also served in two positions on the board of a major soccer league, so let me explain something about team uniforms. Nine times out of ten when uniforms have not been ready on time or incomplete I've found, at least in my working experience, that it's the fault of the coach, the team mom in charge of uniforms, or someone else on the club side. Not the store. At times, yes, stores mess up, too, but normally a club has tried to rush an order or changed their mind three times during the ordering process or something else. Maybe that's why so many employees at so many soccer shops are ornery: they have been dealing with club orders all day. Teams, appoint one person (if possible not your over-worked coach) to handle uniforms. Have him or her do all communications with the shop and also have that person pick up the finished uniforms. Then have them make sure all names are spelled right and such. Have the coach distribute uniforms at practice or have kids come to the "uniform mom" at her house and get them. When I coached, too often a parent would leave a shop with more than just her own kid's stuff (planning to give it to a friend or whatever) and all manner of issue came up. They keep them spread out around the store I would guess because the selection is limited. I must say first off I love my Bears,Bulls, Sox and Hawks, but soccer has always facisinated me. Started follwowing the English premeire league a couple of years ago and on advice from a co-worker, I checked this place out for a place to gear up. This place has every major club and if they don't have it they can order it. Their prices are a bit expensive but since their dealing in a niche market (at least here in Chicago) I guess they have to be. I've been to the one in Cicero but you need to come to the their main location to get the full effect. Parking is always an issue on the North Side so be aware of that if you're coming in from the 'burbs. Update: So I'm going to the the big Chicago Fire/Man U. game and want to grab some new Man U. gear. I go on their website and see that their having a sale on the new jerseys. I drive over there and they would not honor the price on their website. What kind of business would do that!? So I in a left in a huff and decided to call over there and talk to manager and after stating the situation she finally relents and gives me the internet price. So just a warning to you all.
