10/10 would recommend. I'm very happy with my fitting experience at Ace Pro. I went in for a new set of irons and got everything I had hoped for in a fitting. I tried a few different brands (TaylorMade, Mizuno, Ping). I tried multiple models from each brand based on the club head size I was looking for. I tried different shaft weights and flexes. I tried different lie angles. Every swing was in front of a launch monitor, so I was able to see stats on every shot (carry distance, total distance, club speed, club path, descent angle, ball flight, etc.). Dave spent over 2 hours with me dialing in the best fit and would have spent more time if I had needed it... I never felt rushed. He was very patient and very thorough. We used the stats to make the best decisions but he also left plenty of room for my personal opinion on how things felt. I ended up ordering a custom set of irons with longer shafts, a slightly upright lie angle, and thicker grips and my clubs were ready to be picked up in 10 days. I debated going to other places known for their fitting experience and I am extremely happy I chose Ace Pro instead. With my purchase, there was no cost for the fitting and zero markup on my clubs. I paid the exact same price I would have paid had I ordered them online or gone to a big box store. I'm happy to support a local shop offering the same prices and I will absolutely go back when I'm ready for wedges or a new driver. One important note: they don't do appointments, so you just show up anytime they're open. If somebody else is already doing a fitting, you'll need to wait until they're done. Ace is a small shop with plenty of new clubs for review. Owner or sales people was friendly and informative. I went there for a preowned club to add to my bag. The preowned inventory is very small and really Ace seems like not the place to go to for preowned. Service and new are most likely their specialities. Overall for preowned not recommended but for new and specialty like grips more the reasons to go there. read more

Dave spent more than three hours getting me the exact clubs I needed (irons and driver). He's incredibly patient and detail-oriented and wasn't satisfied until I was. I had visited Ace once before . . . years ago but had never met Dave. I met him yesterday for a driver fitting. He spent almost two hours with me (longer than I expected . . . in fact I got a CPD parking ticket). But it was worth it. He was incredibly responsive and thoughtful. He watched my swing . . . pointed out a few "small" flaws . . . and helped me work through some corrections. At the end of the time, we agreed that before buying a new club, I would work out some of my swing kinks and then return to him (his idea) for a fitting. I can't say enough about how accommodating, professional and courteous my experience was. I walked in to inquire about club fitting, thinking I would have to make an appointment. The owner, Dave, asked me a few questions and then spent the next two hours patiently working with me to figure out irons that best suited my swing and my needs. I wouldn't necessarily expect to go in here and get *great* deals on equipment, but Ace Pro can order you anything. For the latest equipment, you'll still pay MAP (which, is to say, would be the same prices as PGA superstore online or anyone else, but don't forget that pesky sales tax). I picked up some wedges from David last season and had them regripped with some extra wraps. I could have done any loft/lie adjustments or extensions needed at that time. They arrived quickly and service was great, so I decided that this season, rather than regripping my own clubs, I would bring them to Ace Pro (needed some extensions, too) and again, top-notch service. Quick turnaround and great prices. Better than D*ck's and the work was clearly more thorough and professionally done. I will be back for some minor lie/loft adjustments and checking on my clubs when the machine is up and running for the season. I don't write a ton of Yelp reviews, but realized they could definitely use the love online. I will be a repeat customer and it is great to support a local business rather than some faceless online "pro shop" warehouse or mega chain. Go to Ace Pro instead! If I could fix anything, some more refreshed stock and deeper discounts on some of the older clubs to keep space/rotation going. They also have great prices on balls, especially Pro V1s, and from what I can tell, Callaway, Srixon and Bridgestone, too. read more

After getting the advice to get my own set of golf clubs fitted. I decided to find a neighborhood golf shop. What a blessing to find the perfect place after visiting the major retailers. Dave got right on it, we picked out the clubs. He had me try the different clubs and used a computer to see the different results of my swings. Custom made my order to perfection and only took two weeks to get them. But he didn't finish there, he took the time to unveil my new clubs, place them in the best way in the bag. I wish I could review this place, but they can't keep their own hours. I have tried several times to enter the store during posted business hours and they are closed. I try calling and nobody's home. I have been to most of the golf shops in Chicago, and Ace is the best. Even something as simple as regripping a club has been screwed up by other stores (Golfsmith). Ace has been really helpful with shafts, grips, club tests, everything. The owner/technician doesn't even complain when I bring in my clubs with about 4 or 5 wraps under the grip. I took my clubs in to be re-gripped last Saturday for the start of the season and they agreed to have them ready first thing Monday. The grips were ready first thing on Monday and they did a great job. The owner is very knowledgeable and very accommodating.
