I have found no deals on any golf clubs here in the last 6 yrs. If I find a club I need to fill a broken set, it is always priced too high (they are higher than any other Play It Again Sports (PIAS) by 20-500% for exact match club brands) and they are unwilling to negotiate a lower price except by less than 5%. By comparison to other Play It Again Sports - Shaumburg, Crystal, I was able to purchase the 2 needed clubs at 25% and 16% of the "negotiated" price of an identical club at the Waukegan Ave PIAS store. I do not recommend this store for any golf items. I will never again go to this store for any reason. It is not worth the trip (25 mi.) to waste my time. DB

I did the…read morefull bag fitting and it did take a full 3-4 hours, but the options and the knowledge were incredible. I was most impressed about the seemingly limitless options that would work for anyone's golf game. I tried around 3-4 different heads/shafts for each club choice (D, 3W, Hy, Irons, Wedge) and it was awesome to get immediate feedback in terms of hitting the ball and the stats/info on the screen and through Michael. The putter fitting was more straight forward, but still a cool experience. I would suggest to anyone going in to do so with an open mind, if you know you want Ping or Callaway then I'm sure they can still help but you won't get the most out of your experience. I ended up getting irons that I had never heard of before because they were most consistent. I also thought I would be leaving with 4 wedges, but Michael did a great job designing my bag for the game I have. For instance, I didn't use my hybrid often and it's really just a club to fill in the gap between a 3w and 4i. I also would rather use a 4i off the tee, if need be, since I feel like I have more control. Well, he fitted me for the Srixon Z U85 3i - something I was not previously familiar with to be better off the tee but also get my distance and to land better on the green. I was not pressured into buying anything - I did end up buying a whole new bag - and if your current clubs are the best option, they will tell you so. I got my "Prescription" and data within 2 business days of being there, so if you want to take a stab at building the clubs yourself or comparing more numbers, you're free to do so. It took about 3 weeks to get my clubs, which isn't bad at all since they were custom made for me. The packaging was awesome and every club was protected. I don't think I'll need another club fitting for another 20 years so while maybe a little pricey, I couldn't be happier with the outcome and just knowing that a professional set me up gives me more confidence.

But the True Spec customer service department has completely failed to get the one club replaced. Got my clubs at the beginning of March and here it is mid-April and many fruitless calls later and and no correction of the problem. True Spec doesn't appear to have a professional customer service system where issues/problems are logged into a system, worked on by the appropriate people, then resolved and closed out. But I'm still hopeful that this can be resolved before the Chicago season gets into full swing.

This is one of the smaller Dick's (pun not intended duh) as it is atypically housed in a 1 story…read morestrip mall building.  The store is still deceptively huge and I learned it's still sizable at about 60,000 ft2 (a dimension which I can't really relate to anyway).  They still seemed to have everything you might expect though the wife thought maybe their clothing inventory wasn't as extensive as at a bigger store.  The staffers were helpful.  This store is out of the way for us but we came up here as one of the kiddos is a participant in the Northbrook Girls Softball Association and they offered a limited time 20% off promotion applicable only to this store. They had a good supply of youth size cleats, one of the items on our shopping list, and the girls also took the opportunity to do a mini shopping spree on some of their clothing and swim wear.  Thumbs up on the store and thank you!

I was looking for a pre-owned club and while they didn't have the largest selection (which is expected for women's clubs) they had a few options. They have really great practice bays to try out clubs, they were very helpful in gauging my swing speed and putting me in the right club. I was impressed with their level of service and helpfulness (I had been into PGA superstore before this and received no where near the level of assistance). The club was a good price based in online comps and I was able to get home and start practicing with it right away, which was great! James was really nice and helpful, which I sincerely appreciate. If you're in the area and looking for some golf supplies, I'd highly recommend this Golf Galaxy. Enjoy!

I got a number of responses and a lot of them were things I didn't even think I would need but found extremely useful. I haven't done a half marathon in almost 10 years and I forgot how important it was to properly fuel myself for endurance runs. These days nutrition and electrolyte tabs aren't cutting it for me anymore. I don't want to hit a wall once I start hitting the 8-10 mile marker so energy gels have been helping me push through with ease and REI has plenty of them. They mostly carry the GU brand and HoneyStinger. I've been trying out flavors and found a couple that I like. REI despite their items being on the pricier side have great selection and quality gear. I was able to get everything I needed in prep for race day. I didn't encounter any issues with staff. It felt more like, "We'll leave you alone unless you need something." I'm totally fine with that. It's an upscale comprehensive sporting goods store with a good amount of items in stock. I was actually impressed with the women's shoe selection. They had more HOKAs in stock compared to Road Runner Sports in Wilmette. I know I could've easily gotten HOKAs online but I'm the type (especially when it comes to apparel and shoes) to want to test items out in person for fit. Had I known they had better availability with more colors in stock, I would've bought my shoes here. REI is granola and you'll need to bring your own bag to shop. They are officially bagless and no longer provide single-use shopping bags at checkout. Parking is easy since it's nestled within a strip mall. I was able to get a spot in front with no issues.
