I remember coming to pickup my bike and the whole world was shutting down, I gave the owner a full 1 gallon sanitizer bottle to help them get through the shortage of sanitizer at the time. Fast forward to 2025, picked up some parts for my kids bikes and was very surprised how reasonable the prices were this time around. Glad I can bring my kids to a local bicycle shop that the owners are nice. Better than Sportif (if you lived here in JP back in the day) that guy was a JERK. Never forget going into his shop and him saying some pretty rude stuff to me ( I was maybe 10 or 12).

The best local business I've used in at least a decade…read more I got a great hybrid bike at a great price, that I'm still loving a year-plus later. And everything like tune-ups, oiling, and flat repairs are free. (Ron fixed the flat by replacing the tube.) After a year, one of my gears started skipping a gear, which I pointed out when he replaced the inner tube, and Ron pointed out where the wiring had frayed some--probably whacked against something, he said--and he immediately stripped it all out, replaced it and fine-tuned it expertly. No charge. Had me test ride it around the block, to be sure. The 1st thing that impressed me, though, was when I came in looking in August, there were a ton of bikes, but I'm 6'1" and Ron said none of them were big enough for me, but he would get more in 3 days, so call back then. I really respect someone who WON'T sell me something, because it's not right. They're very close so I stopped by a few times, we talked more, and he had a big enough road bike, but he said what I'd been describing was a hybrid, and if that's what I wanted, I should wait. He went over the pros/cons of each, and I said definitely a hybrid. He said he got far fewer, so I checked in every week or two, and in November, 3 months from the start, he had a hybrid big enough. It was perfect, and I bought it. I wanted a more comfortable seat, so he had me pick the one I wanted from all the bikes and he swapped it in. I bet 99% of customers would have gone somewhere else long before, so he'd given up most of his chance at a sale, and could have easily sold me on a shorter bike being ok, but wouldn't do it. Ron is super-nice and great to talk to, and his wife Sonja is too, so it's always a pleasure. Love this place.

The owner recommended a basic assessment first since this was a bike I just got from a friend. With the assessment he filled my tires, checked for leaks, adjusted my pedal and handlebar tightness, and oiled my chain up. He also taught me how to shift gears and pointed out my bracks were switched (right hand controlled front). In the end he also lowered my seat for a better fit. The assessment was great at ensuring my bike was ride ready and not dangerous. He also recommended what would be good follow up and pricing if I wanted a more thorough tuning for problem areas that he showed me during the assessment but wasn't pushy about it. I was back home with my bike before in under 30mins. Great price transparency. Owner had great knowledge of bikes and brands. Also has free automatic tire pump and recommended I drop by every 1-2wks to keep my tires plump. I'm excited to get back to riding with this new bike!

I'm a bit of a picky shopper, and I compared to other bike shops in Evanston, and Everyday Cycles has completely won me over. Some of the great things: * Knowledgeable staff helps you choose the right things for your needs, whether fitting you to a bike or looking for an accessory. * Not pushy or overly sales-y. * The shop is small, so there is not a lot of product on hand, but you can tell that the products they carry have been vetted... It seems like someone working there has done research on the products and hand-picked the best products out there, so there may be only a few items to choose from, but they are the ones you would want anyway. They can also order items, of course. * Customer service went above and beyond expectations to address a minor manufacturer issue. * Convenient location Story time: The bicycle I chose to purchase (after a great experience trying out different bikes with different frame sizes) had a manufacturing defect on the rim. They swapped the rim with the same kind from another bike, which to me would have resolved the issue, because this other rim was satisfactory and would have completely evened out after breaking it in. (The original, defective rim was sent back to the manufacturer.) However, they went above and beyond and decided that they wanted to put a different, better model of rims on this type of bike, so they essentially upgraded my rims, which exceeded my expectations! 3rd Coast Cycle's owner pulled a bait and switch on us and almost killed my partner. We found the…read morebike through an online listing. The owner had assured us everything was in order and ready to ride. When we took the bike out on the trails, my partner almost broke her neck on a downhill when the breaks suddenly gave out. We took it too a shop and found out that the wheels on the bike were not the original wheels and had been switched out. The rotors on the wheels were too small, leading it to quickly wear through the pads and suddenly stop working a couple hours into the ride. When we notified the owner, his response was "scary." Yes, incredibly scary. My partner could have died due to the owner 1) pulling a bait and switch and 2) not checking and ensuring the safety of the bike.
