I came to Chicago, slept for three hours on the plane, and I was still full of energy. So, my friend and I decided to take a bike and ride from the suburbs to downtown. The maps showed us that it would take about two hours. Unfortunately, halfway through our ride, my bike's rear tire blew out. But we were lucky enough to be near Cosmic Bike. We got there 10 minutes before it opened, but the employee was friendly and kind and took my bike right away. We waited about 15-20 minutes, which I was glad about because it's pretty quick. After that I was able to ride for about three more hours with no problems. Thank you very much! P.S. The first photo shows a broken tire, the second a repaired one.

Great find of a place since it been around forever. I was surprised to find this place using my internet search. I usual frown upon finding places at the last minute. To my surprise, they had a place to get my bike inner tube in stock although my tube was a common size. It's one of those things that when you want to find something now, you need it get it fast and at a reasonable price. I have seen a bunch of bikes stores that would charge you an 'arm and leg' to get something basic like this. I am not sure if there prices for other things and I would think it would be competitive enough since you can get things online these days. As with any higher priced item over $300, I would check online. Anyways, it was a nice thing to meet friendly people on staff and older guys like myself to handle and work with customers. We bought a cargo bike and the customer was incredible here. A very big thank you for helping us find the right option, for your patience and care, and for delivering it.

I really like this place, my wife and I used to be very avid bike riders. Until my older son borrowed my bike left a chained in the rain. Don't have kids. However, I blew a flat which tore my brake system off. Weird accident. I called, Chris said he had a huge delay, but just to take care of the flats with insulation was a quick pitstop. I will bring my wife's bicycle here for a tuneup, I like the way they work here. Very professional. And some products, Surly. And city style bicycles. While shopping, I searched Walmart, for basics, like gel chairs etc. Cosmic bikes was only a few bucks range, give or take. These folks are nice, and I decided to buy some accessories with my tuneup. Support good local vendors.

I have to give a shout out to the village cycle center…read more I've been getting increasingly into cycling over the last couple years as it seems to be the only kind of fitness that doesn't absolutely wreck my body. And at the end of last season I decided it was time to upgrade the fx3 (which I also got from VCC during covid). Now for the last 8 months I've been browsing trek.com, specialized.com, reddit, facebook marketplace, etc., trying to get a sense of what I want. I'll say considering most bike manufacturers have a large range of bikes for each model, the marketing folks then don't do a particularly great job explaining the differences. Enter VCC. I stopped by because I wanted to know if I was 56 or 58cm, with a plan to go buy used in the approximate $2000 range. My man Tim spent maybe 2-3 hours with me walking me through the entire range of trek road bikes, teaching me the differences among the gearsets, alloys used in the frames, the brakes, etc. It really made me confident in terms of zeroing in on the bike that would fit my needs. And it just so happened they had a prior year model at a price that was close-ish to my original budget (lol). Walked home with a new Domane SL5, and now something like 6 weeks and 500+ miles later I'm a pretty happy camper.

Gears are back to shifting smoothly and they cleaned it well so it is like new. They even added new tape to the handlebars. Very happy with the service and will continue coming back! I asked if they could use my current tube, which was not damaged, in the new tire. They said they had to use their own tube in the new tire which is very fair. The new tube even comes included in the labor cost of changing the tire. However, I wish they asked me if I wanted my old tube back before discarding it, as many bike shops do. I can excuse this if the tube was punctured, but it wasn't. I could have used that as a spare tube or something. Tubes are around $10 so not a huge deal but that would've been nice. I also wished they asked me if I preferred a certain tire pressure before inflating my tire to an arbitrary PSI. Sure, some people don't have a preferred pressure, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Especially if someone is purchasing a $100+ tire. Again, not a huge deal as I can just change it at home but would've been nice. Overall, still a good experience.

In response to the (mostly) positive reviews to this place, I trusted them to provide quality…read moreservice. My rating is due to bike service issues, not personnel. The workers were what you'd expect as far as being nice - but the mechanics are amateur at best. After my first disappointment with their routine "maintenance service", I wanted to give them another shot with my brakes. After all, I yearn to have a good relationship with a local bike shop. And sadly, it's a bigger disappointment than my first visit. I asked for them to bleed both brakes. I received a call saying they're "fine" and suggested NOT bleeding brakes; but the pads and rotors were caked in oil and other residue (I cleaned them both 3 days ago). But I figured you gotta trust the pros, right? Wrong. I figured they'd replace the pads, clean the rotors and call it a day. After all, I hadn't sanded the pads this past time and they are getting old (10 months). Nope, just VERY poorly sanded the existing brake pads, cleaned the rotor below my normal standard and was charged nearly $50. For that. To sand 4 little brake pads and (presumably) apply some rubbing alcohol to the rotors. $50. Look at the picture of the brake pads after they serviced them. Lmao. I could have done that for $2 at home since all I need is a little more rough sand paper. Ha. And no, it didn't help my brakes at all. They produced very little friction, we're extremely loud and there was even a clicking noise from my drivetrain on my ride home I haven't even diagnosed yet. I just had to write this review. Ha. Should have just told them to screw off and bleed the damn brakes. To me, it's simple. This is a classic big city bike shop that is money hungry. $50 for that is LAUGHABLE. I could take this to my hometown bike shop and for that money they'd do a bleed, drivetrain clean, fork pressurization, frame clean, etc. And after all that, I still need my brakes bled. They didn't do it. Ha. EDIT: Attached is the video of my new wheel sound! I think it's just the dork disk, but still.
