We had a great time just chilling here. The service was good. We were asked if we needed anything a couple of times. We got some beer from the tap. It was not that busy on a Tuesday night. Nice neighbourhood pub in the Sapperton area. Parking is available on the side streets. The pub isn't anything too special. Modern feel. There were a few screens showing various sporting events. Staff were friendly. Beer pricing was reasonable and in line with other places. Can't comment on the food. Wouldn't mind coming back to chill and have a drink. read more

Awesome service from the get go. We were the first customers to arrive right after it opened at 11 am for Sunday brunch. Friendly server and checked on us frequently even after more customers arrived. Coffee was topped up without us having to flag for attention. We were given a water jug so we could top up our own water glass. The food was really good too. Well, compared to a sad breakfast dish I had at another place, this place served up a hot, fresh and appetizing looking breakfast omelette. I had the southwestern omelette and opted for chorizo sausage. It was delicious and the chorizo gave a slight heat to the egg. I love the thick toast and the generous serve of jams and peanut butter. I could spread the buttered toast liberally with them. Yums! The hash was crispy around the edges which was lovely. Eat them while hot though they were still good after cooled. My friend had the Sapperton stack which created a bit of confusion as the menu description on the QR code (pancakes) was different from the physical menu (waffles). Our server checked on that and it was supposed to be with waffles but the cook could make pancakes if desired. Great flexibility. We stuck with waffles which were very good too. The place is huge and has many big screens. Perfect if you want to catch a game on tv here. This is a good neighborhood pub to make it your local if you live in the area. Pay street parking is available and free parking on the side streets further up. read more

First time visiting this restaurant and we loved it. We came for the tail end of happy hour so it wasn't overly busy when we arrived. Our server was wonderful... very friendly and great service. Surprisingly we enjoyed the food as none of us in our group had actually been here before. Definitely a place I'd come back to! read more

Driving through the historic Sapperton area of New Westminster one day, I noticed Sapperton District Taphouse and made a mental note to visit them one day when I had the chance. I like that they have some hightop tables located in the front with the big window as it lets light in. The first dish I ordered here was the Brisket Mac & Cheese ($14). This is an extraordinarily cheesy dish with super tender beer-braised beef brisket. While they use rotini as opposed to macaroni, it does help to pick up some of that cheese. And you'll find yourself getting some of that cheesy pull hitting your chin if you eat like me. On my next visit, I tried their German Schnitzel ($18). I found the schnitzel was a bit dry (perhaps overcooked a bit?) and the martini vermouth sauce was a bit more runnier than I would have preferred (I usually like a creamier sauce with my schnitzel). Aside from that, the meal was pretty good and the fries turned out perfectly crisp. In late November, I came back and ordered the Great Sapper ($16) which is an homage to the area. Kind of like a burger/sandwich hybrid, you get an Angus beef burger with bacon, cheddar and Swiss cheese, garlic aioli, fried onions, lettuce, tomato, and dill pickle all layered between two thick slices of Texas toast. Yes, this was a mess to eat but it was well worth the mess. While I found the burger patty to be a bit dry, it was quite meaty and I liked the crispness of the bacon. The accompaniment of more of their crispy fries completes the meal. On my next visit, I was feeling like having a lighter meal so I picked one of their salads... the Caesarmari Salad ($15) and realized that this is really a big bowl. To be honest, there's not a huge portion of calamari here (which is probably for the best)... more like a small appy size portion of crispy calamari along with the salad portion which was made up of romaine, feta cheese, Caesar dressing and chopped bacon (although I felt the bacon bits seemed a bit too artificial). Aside from the bacon bits, this was a nice, crisp salad but if you're in the mood for a traditional Caesar salad... this isn't it. On my next visit, I wound up ordering the Jambalaya Rice Bowl ($16) just because the original dish I wanted to order wasn't available. Served with 2 skewers of shrimp, I found this jambalaya to be rather spicy (probably from the added Sriracha sauce) with a pleasantly creamy serving of rice, sausage, chicken, peppers, and onions. The shrimp, while originally appearing to be lacking a noticeable char colour to the exterior, actually turned out to be cooked perfectly as they were plump and had a nice snap to the bite. Definitely a filling dish. Overall, the food is pretty good here and service is friendly. I also like they playlist that they have rocking out during the lunch hour. read more

It was build your own pasta night at Sapperton District Taphouse but I opted for the beef dip and house salad. Didn't disappoint! There are 3 bottles of wine that are half price on Mondays. Not too shabby! This is the 2nd time I've been in in as many weeks and they've run out of the Kim Crawford though. Bring in moooore please! The staff is friendly, they have a phone charging station, good music and heaps of beer to choose from. Can't ask for much more! read more

***3.5 stars*** (I really want to give it 4 stars and hopefully the service issues are just growing pains.) The new local in Sapperton does not disappoint, with over 30 BC craft beer taps and decent food, although I have only had a small taste of the large menu. The 16oz pours are such a good price that the word is already getting out judging from the decent turnout on a weekday night. The revamp and modern industrial decor certainly help with the ambience and there is a good sized private room in the back. All that is missing is a foot rail/rest for the bench seats - it would be so much more comfortable than dangling my legs like a 3 year old. We were warned that the schnitzel was a massive portion, and although my dining partner would have had no problem polishing it off, it was indeed a good sized dish, tasty and great value. The Philly cheese steak was not bad but I wasn't expecting an open faced sandwich so it was a bit challenging to eat considering I had to cut it up with bits falling off and then attempt to dip it in the au jus. The fries are a highlight - extra crispy. The service was friendly but lacked in attentiveness. Water wasn't refilled until asked, untouched plates left sitting, empty glasses left on table, opportunities for upselling were missed, no dessert was offered, and we had to flag our server down after what seemed like a long period of inattention to ask for the food to be wrapped up. That being said, this craft beer pub is exactly what this neighbourhood needs and so far it is off to a good start! read more

The service here is great! The food not so much :( 3 stars because service is 5/5 but food is 0/5. The mac n cheese is worse than Kraft dinner, it's tasteless. The burger had a soggy bun and the patties wasn't seasoned. The best part of the burger was the tomatoes and pickle, because well, you can't mess that up. Again, our servers were lovely! This is a nice local pub with a large selection of beers on tap located on the Sapperton area in New Westminster, B.C. They do have happy hours and some good options as well. It is by transit and the skytrain so it's pretty easy to get to if you're in the area. If your in the area, I would recommend checking it out. read more

Price and portion is pretty good. The area where they didn't do so well is despite the lack of customers and excess staff on the floor, the service was really slow. I had to ask for water a couple of times where the ratio was 1 waitress to 2 tables or 1 waitress per 3 people. There was also no lunch menu, but the menu option and pricing makes it up. It's a real 3.5. I had the cheese mushroom burger. The patty was done right and fries were hot. Good portion too. Their calamari wasnt bad either. It's a goid choice around the area. Visited District Pub last Saturday with a friend for a bite to eat and a drink. The server Samantha was great! We each ordered a flight disappointed that the beer was warm. We each ordered the same house salad with chicken.. for $14 the salad was tiny no crasins, no candied walnuts. So far both visits disappointing. I would wait for a while at least until they get through their growing pains. The pub has really no atmosphere, you'd think that the owners might spruce up the place with New West memorabilia old and new.. just tv's everywhere. We were really excited to see that the old bar had been closed for renovations (what a sketchy place that was) - and now really happy with what the new taphouse has turned out to be! The food is pretty standard pub fare/comfort food, fries are delicious, and generous portion sizes. I wish the wines were a bit cheaper, they seemed to be giving bigger pours when they first opened. Lots of beers to choose from though, and they seem to be priced really fairly All in all, this is a great spot to have in the neighbourhood, I hope they stick around! read more

Went today for brunch ... was served by a long greasy haired guy who smelt like cigarette smoke as he tried to serve us. We had already sat down so felt rude leaving but looking back wish we had. The brunch was beyond mediocre, ordered the $5 omnivore pancakes, when the food arrived the server than let me know the kitchen had forgotten to order spinach that week so the omelette only had 3 very thin slices of tomato on top. Doused in maple syrup with crusty, dry hash browns. My husband ordered a side of bratwurst and he couldn't even eat it as he stated "it tasted like cow". Yes beyond disgusting. Very disappointed in this place, we used to love it and would come on Saturday nights with friends but it has gone downhill so fast we won't be coming again. Maybe if management gets servers to tie back their hair and chew some gum after smoking (or perhaps just brush their teeth) so guests don't lose their appetite ... plus ... please take a look at the food being served, it's time to improve or this place will quickly go downhill and go out of business. One hour of my life wasted. I had to double check my reflection in the window on my way out to see if I was invisible. Stopped by today, Sunday, with a friend for a drink and brunch. 9 people in the joint + 4 at the bar. 10 minutes passed and no menu...14 mins menus came....10 minutes later my friend got her Caesar which appeared to have zero tomato in it...it was practically clear. 34 mins later she asked if I wanted to call it and just leave. Our original server was nowhere to be found. She said she'd be back to take our order and then vanished. The place wasn't full although a small back room glassed off appeared to have something going on but the complete lack of service was astounding. After waiting that long to be acknowledged and get a drink we did not want to take a chance on food...what a disappointment. Craft beer yes. Service no. Shape up guys. read more

Hoping this place will improve the service as it is nice to have alternates to Browns and other chains in the area. Food is as expected and beer selection is good, but despite only having a few tables the service is painfully slow. Always have to prompt the service for a drink or stack plates way off to the side to have them eventually cleared if at all. Thought we would give this place a try as we visited this establishment on November 2, 2018 for a late evening birthday get together with family. Arrived at 11:05 pm on Friday and asked for a menu when we sat at our table. We were promptly informed by our waitress that the kitchen was closed. Somewhat confusing and disappointing as the card on the table advertising the Happy Hour Social plates for $6 each states that these specials are available from 9 pm until 12 am on a Friday. Gave this place two tries just in case the first time was a fluke. Anyways, the first time we went it took so long to serve us after given our first drink we had to leave cash for the beer. There were 3 servers and 5 other customers in the place... Beer (which was flat) was empty for over 30 minutes, we sat there while watching them talk to eachother and not serve barely anyone. The second time was quite slow as well, service not so bad, unfortunately the owners/managers were so loud and obnoxious talking with the other employees it was hard to relax. We stopped for lunch after reading the article in the New West Record about the makeover here. The first thing you see is about 30 craft beers on tap. My Wife tried a recommendation from our very friendly Server and she loved it. We tried the Mac & Cheese Ball appy and it was very tasty. I had the Royal BLT for lunch and it comes on a Brioche bun with an Arugula Aioli, very good. My wife had a unique salad, a combination of a Caesar, Greek Salad with Calamari. Insulted. I was excited to bring my friends here for my birthday to show them the new renos and was rudely turned away at the door. I felt belittled by the bartender who told me it was Friday and there was no chance we were getting in, even though we could see at least two different areas where we could be seated or we would have been happy to wait but we weren't given the option. We had just come from dinner and were sober and respectable but were met with aggression and rudeness. On Saturday March 17th, 2018 myself and two friends arrived at the Sapperton District Taphouse between 9:30pm and 9:45pm. We ordered drinks and noticed 4 children within the establishment between the age of 7 years old to 10 years old, running around. The boy who seemed to be the youngest had a beach ball that he was bouncing, the 3 girls were running between the tables and onto the dance floor. That night it was very busy (St Paddy's Day) there was a dance floor cleared with a DJ (way to loud). The 3 girls were dancing on the floor. My friends and I were very disturbed by this as these children had no supervision and when we brought it to the attention of the server. I asked her if children were aloud in the pub. She asked me what time it was and I told her it was 9:57 pm and she informed myself and my friends that children are allowed in the pub till 10:00 pm. This establishment also has Keno gambling, which I am under the impression it is illegal to have a minor in or around any gambling. We then noticed the young boy around the owner and his wife with friends at the bartender servers station doing shot of alcohol. My one friend over heard the owner say "It they don't like it they can leave". I have been to the Sapperton District Taphouse with other friends and have met the owners, so I know who they are, and the gentleman and his wife looked at us very unwelcoming and so we proceeded to finsih our drinks, pay our bill and leave at about 10:15pm. The children were still running around at this time. This is very disturbing to me and I can only hope the owners/parents had enough common sense not to drive home that night. read more
