Well I read the reviews and hoped it would be better. Extremely rude service from the cashier to the person who gave us the food. Extremely overpriced for the amount of food. I had never been there and the guy taking my order was so rude and wasn't patient with me deciding what to add to my bowl. When our food was ready, I asked the woman for salsa and she said she put some in the bag. I took her word, went back to our place and only found 1 thing of salsa for 3 tacos, and 2 bowls...very disappointed. District Taco was not what I expected. Although I appreciate the fresh ingredients and simple menu, the flavors were slightly lacking IMO. I got a bowl with no beans, with chorizo as my protein and the el hefe toppings. Honestly, it was meh. The queso was really good, so I ended up making a sort of nacho with my chips and queso dipped into my bowl, and it worked, it just wasn't anything super special. My husband enjoyed his quesadilla dunked in my queso too (rude), but thought his burrito was super dry/boring. +salsa bar has tomatillo salsa +loved their fountain drink choices I'm honestly not sure why this place is so hyped up, it's not bad by any means, but I do not understand the hype at all. read more

The last 5-6 times we have ordered from here our order has been wrong! It is written correct on the receipt but not made correctly and of course they won't fix the mistake once it's been ordered. This place is just opened. It was heavy raining day but it was packed inside during lunch time. I had fish and chicken taco. I loved the sauce/salsa that they used. Also I love tortilla. It looks like home made. I wish I could pick toppings at the cooking bar not at register. I want to see what it is and I want to tell them how much they can put. There are so many kids menu. Every chipotle I've been to in this state has an extremely long line and very limited seating. District Taco was fast and plenty of seating. I have a large family and they had all of my food ready. Expensive. Have to pick everything right at at register (toppings and all). I suppose this eliminates the "hmmm's" at the topping station, but you get it at the register instead (I was one of them). Personally I do better when I'm staring at the toppings (light on this, extra that, etc). Seating is retro and kinda cool looking. Food is decent - but Chipotle is cheaper and just as good. Oh, and when ordering "corn" tortillas - they are also soft tortillas...authentic, which is nice, but unexpected (and I was kinda longing for the taco crunch). I was at District Taco in Falls Church today for lunch. I ordered the 3 shrimp taco's, which was pretty darn tasty. I prefer the fish taco's but I was a day early (served on Fridays, I forget the other day its served). The shrimp tastes really fresh, similar to gulf shrimp. They were nice and firm as well. I enjoyed the crunchiness of the cabbage slaw and the chipotle mayo too! The mayo gave the tacos a bit of a kick, but they weren't too spicy. I noticed they offered catering, and considering I have client lunches, I thought a taco bar for my clients would a great idea. This part of the review is about the South Washington St. location which I called to inquire about catering. I was on hold for more than 15mins! I decided to put the call on hold and call on another line, which they answered. I mentioned being on hold for 15mins and asked to speak with someone from catering. The person was like, "Yeah." I said are you in the catering department? She said, "Yeah." I said may I have your name? She hung up on me?!? I went back to the other line and was still on hold, lol. Unfortunately, I was in an area with spotty service, so the call dropped at 23mins. Otherwise, I'm sure I would've been on hold all night. I cater lunches 2-3 times a week and wanted to use them for my Alexandria offices but this experience is probably indicative of the lousy service I will receive, so I think I'm going to pass. read more

Where to begin! 1st the cashier took my money then proceeded to prepare my tacos without changing her gloves... Strike 1 I ordered black beans and rice on the side, but instead they put them on my taco. When I told the manager that I did not want black beans and rice on my breakfast taco he gave me a big attitude, and showed me the receipt which I guess was supposed to tell me my beans and rice would go on the burrito.... Got doordash delivery a few days ago. I built my own 3 tacos and happily was able to build them on the web the same way I can in store. My biggest sadness, where is the al pastor?! :( :( :( Instead I did my other standby, the barbacoa and tried a carnitas and grilled steak. Got the side habenero salsa and a large chips and queso because queso is my life. Meal was just as good as I normally get from DT. Loved that the super hot salsa was on the side so the tacos weren't mushy and it was a good hot batch. And their queso is veeerry good. I'm betting that al pastor requires enough ordering so that the meat doesn't go bad on the spit and therefore probably isn't a good bet during these wild times, but I still miss it. Since when did district taco stop serving all day breakfast? We live about 20 minutes away but had a huge craving for DT breakfast tacos. My husband got to this location at 12:05 and was told by the cashier that they stopped serving breakfast 5 minutes prior. There is NOTHING noted about this time restriction on the menu in store, on their website, or even their online ordering system (since I can order breakfast tacos past noon online). I have a feeling we were lied to by this employee or district taco needs to update all their menus. Alas, I got regular tacos but they aren't as good as their breakfast tacos imo. :( read more

This District Taco occupies one corner of an intersection in downtown Alexandria. If you mind the one-way streets, you can enter the parking lot at the back of the restaurant from either street. So far, I've only been getting burrito bowls from this chain because that's the way I like the food - anything under a pile of toppings. In that regard, this District Taco is as good as their other locations and compares favorably to other similar Mexican fast food chains. read more

Bad food, and a terrible value. Awful, just awful. The portion size of the tacos is tiny. Each one was two, maybe three bites of food. The amount of meat in them was commensurately minuscule, and what little meat there was was dry, overcooked, and bland (this goes for the beef, chicken, and pork). The burrito, though quite large, was equally bad. It's essentially a rice burrito with a few beans and a tiny smattering of meat. Even drowning it in salsa didn't make it taste like much besides plain white rice, and the salsa itself was... underwhelming. How about the papas gordas? Well, the fries were mush, drowning in way too much of an insipid sauce, with a couple tablespoons of meat fragments sprinkled over them. If that's your bag you'll love them. Me, not so much. I am not a particularly picky person, and really wanted to like District Taco, but this place was a complete bust. There is a 100% chance I will never get food from them again. P.S. Only get delivery if you prefer your food late and cold. read more

In an empty restaurant service was non existent. There were two people at the front registers and they just looked at me and walked off, no greeting or instruction on ordering. I ended up leaving without ordering and going to a much better establishment that was packed and attentive to it's customers. I have given much grace to pretty much every restaurant I have gone to during the pandemic and especially lately because of the worker shortage (I have no issues waiting a few extra minutes knowing the situation) but tonight there were two employees that did nothing in an empty restaurant. **PLEASE NOTE** This happened in late Dec. I wrote a review and posted it to the wrong business and didn't realize it until today. I feel horrible about it and extend my apologies to that business, I have since deleted the review. I still feel District warranted me posting my experience. So here it goes... Don't waste your time. I find it painful to write this review because the food is decent here but the customer service is horrid. I just left, and was blatantly lied to. I asked for an additional salad dressing, at first, they said they did not have any more prepped to which I replied that I was willing to wait for them to make it. That's when they told me, without checking with the cooks in the back , they did not have the ingredients to make the dressing, it was a total lie. They ran out of prepped dressing the week prior and the visiting manager had them make more. They should consider upping the amount because 2 ounces for a 16 ounce salad is not sufficient. This wouldn't be such a big deal but on other occasions I've experienced certain employees distasteful attitudes. I tried to give it them benefit but, I can no longer spend my money here. COVID is over, but avoid this place like the plague because it is so inconsistent. Sometime orders are fine, but more and more they are not. Ordered via the app, as have done in the past. Tonight crew was not paying attention - quesadilla barely had any chicken in it, a little cheese and beans. No seasoning, no salsa, no jalapeños as requested. The chicken burrito was mostly rice and mostly flavorless. Our chips and queso had no queso! Just poor quality, poor cooking, poor assembly, and poor management. The location in Alexandria, VA is clean and pretty crowded most of the time. This is my son's favorite place to get Taco's, he typically won't eat them from most places so that is a plus. There nacoh's (veggie) are pretty good though heavy, and I usually run out of chips because they are so packed. But I get them a lot when I go and they do the job. Overall this place is pretty good as far as tacos go and the ingreediants have always been fresh. It is definitely not fast food per se as they make the food in front of you through glass, and they go as quick as they can, but it can get really slow in peak times - and unless you are ordering through an ap - don't try calling for take out as they run the disclaimer that they can't really answer the phone. The only reason I try on phone, is sometimes our order has been sitting on the counter when they tell you they are bringing it out. I get it these days that its tough for lots of places though. Overall it is solid, but I have heard plenty of bad reviews about them, but I have been at least 20 times and haven't really seen anything negative and they are always pleasant and helpful. Fun fact though, well not so fun, they had a lock failure in the bathroom once, and they needed the fire department to break my son out of their he was trapped for like an hour and as you can imagine for a young 6 year old, he was flipping out and was tramatized! Just sort of a freak thing, but hey he still wants to go back and now is starting to even use the bathroom (this was also the first time in my life I ever let him walk in by himself as he wanted to be a big boy and of course that happened) good thing I was literally right behind him! read more

This spot is out of a lot of ingredients. They didn't have any barbacoa which was ok since I'm not super picky and went with Asada and carnitas. They were also out of lime and salsa. I asked what was going on and their warehouse was out of stock. I've gone here twice now. I wasn't overly impressed the first time so I wanted to try it again just to see if it was a fluke. People are saying it's similar to chipotle. I don't agree at all. I think chipotle has better ingredients, and chipotle offers brown rice. This place only has white rice. And it's totally lacking in flavor and took up most of the room in my meal. I got a burrito this last time and it was still cold inside. The only thing I liked about this place was all the salads at the salsa bar. And the queso. That stuff was really good. But everything else, lacked in flavor and creativity. Prices were good, but I'd rather spend the same on food I like. More vegetarian options would be good besides just beans. Staff was not friendly, the girl taking our order rolled her eyes and did not smile. Always a turn off for me and a pretty good guarantee I won't come back. read more

Tried to order a California burrito over UberEats. A CA Burrito is beef, cheese, sour cream, and fries. They add a lot of other stuff (guac, beans, etc) that I deselected and triple checked to make sure the order was configured how I wanted. Hit order. Immediately noticed on the order receipt that guac was selected? Weird. After checking a few things I decided to cancel the order (UberEats still charged me?), and re-ordered, quadruple checking to make sure I had the ingredients selected the way I wanted. Same indication shows up about quac being selected? Ok whatever, probably a glitch, I'll see what arrives. 90 Minutes later the driver brings a tortilla with cheese, sour cream, and guac...... and nothing else. Got a tiny cup of beef on the side. (Because that makes sense?) I get that I don't live in San Diego anymore and I'm happy to make do with menu options, but I paid almost $40 to get a tortilla full of green guac. I spent the better part of a decade working in a half dozen restaurants getting through school- it's not too much to ask to take a half beat and double check the order or if all else fails call to clarify. I've driven past this place for years, but had never tried it. Last week, I was in the area visiting, and decided to meet a friend for lunch at this place. I'm glad I finally stopped in. At first, I thought it had the Chipotle vibe, but that's where the comparison stops. There are several Mexican options on the menu, but I stuck with just ordering a pair of tacos with shredded pork. I also got a bottle of water. They also have a bunch of different types of salsas for your food, and I tried a couple, as I like my food a bit spicy. The tacos came out, and they are a lot smaller than I expected, and I wished I had order three, instead of two. However, they were very tasty, rich, and filling. After eating two, I was happy to stop there. I felt the quality of food was very high compared to other places like this and am looking forward to trying something different on my next visit, which should be sooner than later. I went to this district taco today and their entire soda machine (which includes the water spout!!) was "out of order." Usually, this isn't a huge deal, but it's 90 degrees outside, and I walked there. I needed some water. Water in any business, from the fountain, is free. In this case, the water machine didn't work at all. None of the employees were kind about it, no one offered an alternative way to get water, they just told me to "buy a water bottle or soda instead." I feel very disappointed they couldn't even offer to bring water from the back, or a water bottle since the machine was broken. Not a great way to treat a customer, and in this heat. read more
