Hard to find a parking space between lunch and dinner, but about 5 spots opened after I got my first beer. Sitting outside was nice but windy. They had a Porter AND a Stout And an imperial stout, unusual this time of year for many places ( in Portland where I live). Unfortunately I didn't like either one, didn't try the imperial. Their Philly was really salty it wasn't on a French roll either, I think it was minced up with cheese mixed in, like some places now do with hamburger & cheese, forget what it is called. The staff was friendly and ordering was easy, though my number blew over. read more

The WORSE BURGER I have eaten in a long time. The burger patties didn't look or tasted like beef. It had an overly unpleasant peppered taste as if trying to mask the weird mystery meat. The texture of the patties were spongy. The service was not great. The black-bearded guy was unfriendly and not helpful. The Caesar Salad was good and reasonably priced. The beer was good hence the two stars. read more

Chorizo nachos were super tasty and went well with this refreshing gose that I ordered. Really appreciated the casual ambience, dog-friendly patio, great service and no one cared that my friend, dog and I came from paddling the lake in our gear to go have lunch and beers! Cute little brewery off the main road but down by some great shops and restaurants. Friendly girls inside to help pour the beers. Crowd seemed nice with kids, families, 20 somethings and on up. We sat at the bar and met a nice guy in his 70a that retired and works 3 days a week and comes in here weekly for his pour. Locals that visit a brewery is always a sign of a great brew. read more

The patio has potential, but it's a bit dirty and unwelcoming. We tried three of their beers, all of them great. The two food items we ordered were mediocre at best, and service was pretty unfriendly. Overall things felt lackluster. Based on other reviews we were hoping for more- definitely won't return though I realize we might have caught them on an off day. read more

Beer was great. The pizza was just ok. We had the pepperoni pizza and a pretzel. The pretzel was good. Service was ok, but they stop serving food at 8pm, which we were not aware and barely were able to order. Beer is good, can never go wrong with that. However, if you're looking for a welcoming atmosphere with friendly service, this is not the place. We visited several venues while in town and this by far was the most underwhelming for food and service. It's a shame. read more

The beer and seltzers were good but the pizza was trash. I'm sorry but it taste like microwavable pizza and they just added the toppings. We also got steak nachos that were good. Overall the service was good but we won't ever be getting the pizza again. read more

Yum! Had amazing nachos and terrific pizza for a very reasonable price. Outside eating and it is packed for a reason. They did not have a single lager or pilsner...so that was disappointing. The oldest beers ought to be represented. read more

Best beer in Mammoth! We come here at least 2-3 times during our visit. This is our favorite spot to hang out, play pool, chat with friends or listen to live music. Their staff are the best, super friendly and welcoming. They have amazing food as well, I love the chicken wraps and the pretzel, it's a perfect beer pairing. Check out their merch selection too, their products are high quality. It gets busy on the weekends so get there early! read more

This is easily the best brewery -- in terms of quality -- in the Eastern Sierra sector, but sadly not the best known. Friendly atmosphere with seating inside and out. Food menu consisted of flatbreads, sandwiches, and pub food apps. For the bier, they have a little bit of everything -- and categorized formerly as "Hoppy", "Lighter", "Darker' and "Other. You'll find a few guest taps on the board as well. I've much respect for breweries who remember the West Coast style IPA. I had just that in the form of a clean, crisp IPA during my visit. An easy sipper and not palate wrecking although I did yearn for more grassiness. They seem to rotate their hazy's and IPA/ DIPA often. At $7 a pint and situated outside to breathe in the crisp mountain air, you could say I was mighty content. Do not forget this little brewery next to the better known brewery down the street! read more

Cold beer and hot food, what else do ya need? It's got fun vibes inside and outside so bring your friends and have a good time. There also a pool table tucked around back. I think their beer selection isn't too exciting but they got some variety. Food is also just okay and not really exciting either. So many just stick to some snacks while you drink. Went back to Distant a year later. All of the good things are still in place. They've improved their outdoor seating with couches, etc. Even better! Some new beer varieties were fun. Tried some food options (like mac and cheese) - tasty and great value! The staff is always friendly and helpful. When you add in the extraordinary setting, this is still by far my favorite brewery ever! read more

We were here Labor Day weekend and loved the vibe. My husband loved the beer as well. They had a good variety and I enjoyed their N/A IPA. We sat at the bar in front of this beautiful mural. There are hidden gems in it if you look. The patio looked nice but not on a windy day. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely a cool spot to stop while in Mammoth. Their menu says absolutely NOTHJNG about their sausage and mushroom pizza having white sauce. Really unfortunate, since I'm allergic and waited in the cold for 30 minutes to be stuck with food that I can't eat and isn't as described on theor menu. Red sauce is basically standard on pizza unless denoted on the menu. Bummer and won't be back. read more

***Updating my review because of the managers rude responses on both of my reviews. Which yes I reviewed on multiple sites so people can make an educated decision before giving an establishment money. Rude staff, rude owner. Apparently this place has a 5 sample policy and then they offer a flight. Fine. But I had 2 samples which I didn't even finish because I didn't want a flight I wanted a full sized beer. Again standard at every brewery I've visited and worked. He also edited his response, to an even more snarky response- very flipping unprofessional. So I conveniently pasted it here for your review. Response from the owner We allow all the free tastes you want, but our policy to ask if you'd like a flight on the 5th sample. First time here in Mammoth and this was our first stop in town and decided to stop here to try the great beer selection and lunch. Based on the reviews I expected more. I asked to try 2 IPA tastes and my husband 3 because he is a bit more picky- the bartender abruptly and incredibly rudely said "you guys just want to do a flight." Suggesting that apparently trying beer at this particular brewery is frowned upon? Or maybe he was constipated and felt like being unkind- but it was really a rude welcome and we passed on lunch. And honestly an odd suggestion considering my husband and I have vastly different beer tastes and were apparent with which beer we were tasting. The NZ IPA was really delicious which is rather disappointing how off put we were literally being in the building for all but 5 minutes- we couldn't wait to leave to find food elsewhere. He ain't poo pooing on our wedding anniversary vacation or time in Mammoth. Word of advice, if you love your job and craft beer, educating your customers and letting them find something that suits them is sort of easy to do and also requires absolutely no effort. (Worked at breweries for years and trying "tastes" is pretty standard so maybe get off that little high horse.) Good beer, poor hospitality for us this time. Such a cool spot and nice to explore another brewery in Mammoth! Don't skip out on visiting even though it is a drive from the village! Ambiance: Fun laid-back atmosphere with music that definitely made us ask for the playlist. There are sofas, casual lounge chairs, and high top tables both inside and out to enjoy. Genius, convenient and perfect for groups as there's no splitting the bill awkwardly at the end. And the dog friendliness is so clutch, our pups always enjoy the sunshine and rest. we're having a global pandemic in LA right now and most of the businesses are closed so naturally we thought, hey let's escape all of this and visit the mountains! This place was busy!! So we parade our clueless party of 8 past multiple signs and notifications right into an area that appeared to be for staff only?? This business has a brand new gorgeously remodeled tasting room but we couldn't even be in it! Everyone was sitting outside. . Something about distancing laws?!? Congrats, you're on vacation, treat our town with a little bit of respect, these businesses have had a hard time and you come up here and need to be coddled and given a comfort blanket on the patio cause you're cold? One of the coolest indoor seating areas for a brewery i've been to in recent memory. Everything is super interesting to look at and although every wall seems to have a different vibe to it, it all comes together beautifully. Kudos to the designer. ANYWAYS, the beer is amazing as well, lots of options including cider and wines and all that if you're not into the beer. Just writing an update cause we went back after some slower service over the insanely busy weekend. They are pumping out the beer like crazy, the staff is very knowledgeable and would still put in the time to explain beers we might like even when the outdoor area was basically full up. What I love about Distant is that the beers change so frequently, you'll almost never have the same beer twice which i'm a fan off! Food is quick and simple, but you really go here for the beers. It took so long to get the check, again, another person had to be asked while our server was just hanging out in the kitchen He had no idea how to operate the handheld POS device. When it was pointed out he didn't remove items we didn't order, he did but then left us with a blank screen. Finally, one of us walked to the bar to ask to pay and told the bartender the server didn't know what he was doing. Her response was "it's only his second shift." I mean, ok, if he'd let us know that and apologized for lapses we would have been understanding- or if he'd had an experienced server training him he wouldn't have been the weeds - but even calling it the weeds is generous because it wasnt busy. We said, "ok, it's his second shift but you should know he's doing a terrible job" - as was evidenced by the tables around us who were similarly struggling to order and get their bills. The bartender's response was to shrug, roll her eyes and say "he's trying" while she walked away. If you're charging $30+ for entrees, and people are paying $15+ per drink, we expect more than trying. Oof, if you're treating locals like this, it's gonna be a long shoulder season.

Yes, over a thousand dollars charged for a $100 meal. They took the $15 tip as a $1500 tip. I don't even know how someone could make that mistake since we only wrote $15 in the tip line. The service certainly does not deserve a $1000 tip. I still have the original receipt and we only signed for $114.44 marked in the total. How that was changed to $1,599.44 is just bonkers and just plain robbery. Now I have to dispute this with Chase. So save those receipts, and watch out for this business.
