Service and drinks are great. Vibe is chill. We like it here. Seating is very limited. If they had more outdoor seating and covered seating that would make this place perfect!! We came and it was very sunny and the sun was blasting us.

What a cool place! A short walk from where we are camped, Golden Pine RV Park... They offer a great selection of their award winning beers! We had the Hockey Fight IPA and the Deer Beer Brown Ale both are awesome! Very friendly and helpful staff! Loved the suggestions! Cool vibe, music cranked and fun decor outside like Adirondack chairs made out of skis, lift chairs to sit in and even a dead gondola outside haha! Theres inside seating as well as bar seating. There's also a large shaded area of picnic tables outside and their on site food truck "La Parilla" has killer food! They seem to be a staple in this small community and I definitely plan to come back before we head home! Highly recommend! Locals and visitors! Enjoy!!

Best brewery in June Lake (not sure there are any others), but still the honors are there and worth a visit if you are visiting the Mammoth Mountain area. And this is coming from a craft beer fan. We stopped here after a fall hike and were not disappointed. I have had their beer and thought it was pretty good, so worth coming to the tap room to try out some others. They have some flavorful IPAs with fun names (Dipsh!t Dragon or Ninja Turtle. Hockey Fight and Juiced Marmont were once I tried off mountain). They have inside and outside patio seating and normally have a food truck cooking up something good. Parking can be difficult but don't give up, it's worth it

June Lake Brewing is such a great brewery, honestly one of my favorites given the location, selection of beers and staff friendliness. My friend Katie has been representing this brewery for years and when I came with her this time around I quickly understood why it was one of her favorites. We spent everyday here and I honestly can't wait to come back again. June Lake Brewing is the only brewery in town and also the only non-cocktails based spot to grab a beer or a cider. It's in walking distance from any of the motels downtown so easy to get to. It's a little tucked away off the main road but there are plenty of signs to find them and if you ask around everyone knows where it is. An indoor / outdoor concept brewery. Indoor is smaller but it'll still fit a good amount of people with an L shaped high top bar and a few tables inside. Outside there are a bunch of picnic tables and also some heaters for when it gets cold. The majority of people sit outside as it's just so beautiful. Dogs are welcome outside near the picnic benches. Inside there are two individual bathrooms but I didn't scope them out. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly. Coming here over the course of two days we really got to meet most of the staff and everyone was so nice and welcoming. I know dealing with tourists can sometimes get a little annoying but there wasn't any of that attitude here. They are grateful for all of their customers and instantly make you feel super welcome. Everyone was friendly, fast and knowledgeable around the beers. 5/5 for the vibes! Prices are extremely reasonable and flights are $12, those are fun and I did a few to get to try the majority of their drinks. They have live music currently on Saturdays, bingo on Sundays and trivia on Wednesday. It was nice hearing some live music when we were there. They don't have their own food here but there is a food truck parked outside that we frequented a good amount. Serving up classics, Mexican staples and desserts it's much needed when you find yourself here sipping beers for hours like we did. My ranking from most favorite to least favorite (but still liked) of the beers/drinks I tried would be: FAVS! 1. What the fruit kettle sour 2. Oishii Japanese lager 3. Hellraiser Kolsch Honorable mentions in order 4. Bang Sauce Cider 5. Lager for Jogger 6. Hockey Fight IPA

We came to the June Lake Brewery after hiking to get some refreshments. Although I am not a beer drinker, I enjoyed the hard seltzer mixed with "what the fruit Kettle Sour". The Kettle Sour was too sour by itself. When it is mixed with the hard seltzer, it was just the way I like it. It was delicious and refreshing. Don't get fooled by the red color and sweet taste. This drink does contain alcohol, more than some beers. My husband had the flight of beers where you can select four different drinks. That is the best option if you cannot decide what you want. You can also ask to sample the beer before deciding. Staff here is friendly and service is quick. One drawback is that they don't serve food. There is one food truck parked right outside the brewery but I wished there were more food options. Ambiance of this place is lively.

JLB is a true Eastern Sierra hidden gem. We made a stop here on the way to Mammoth and I am glad we did. While they don't serve food here, there is a food truck on site. We grabbed some tacos from the food truck that were great. The beer at JLB is what shines. We ordered the What the Fruit Sour and the Peach Hop Water. The sour was amazing. One of the better sours I've had in a while. The hop water was good, but not much hop or peach flavor. I'd like to see that bumped up a notch. I also sipped the ninja XPA that they were trying to clear out and that was a super tasty and balanced take on a pale ale. The service here is counter service only where you order your drink and then pick it up. I always get a bit peeved when the minimum tip on the screen is 20% when I'm ordering the drink and picking it up. The space at JLB is definitely more of a summer space. They do have some seating indoors but luckily it was a nice day when we visited. I don't know that JLB would have been as busy on a chilly day. The outdoor space is incredible though. Lots of covered and open seating. I'll stop by JLB again, but I'll most likely wait until next summer! See you soon!

Always a fan favorite when visiting June Lake. They have a small seating area indoors and tons of seating options outdoors. Also, have a few games. They have a Food Truck that serves great food. Mexican and American food options. Their Burritos and tacos always hit the spot. Very tasty. Especially their red salsa. They have quite a bit of beers on tap. If you're unsure what to order the people behind the bar are very helpful.

    peach hop water 0 ABV!

Thank you for having an alcohol free option. I had the refreshing peach hop water and it is exactly what I needed. Now I can hop back on the mountain road refreshed and sober! The beer menu looked good, too.

This brewery is one of the great things about June Lake! If you're staying anywhere nearby, it's worth the stop. We stayed at a nearby campground and walked a mile to get here! The beers are all solid and there's ample outdoor space. There's always a food truck too, with a pretty extensive menu. The staff all seem pretty chill and attentive.

June Lake Brewing (JLB) is all the vibe as the local watering hole in the lively June Lake area. In addition to their indoor section, they host a large playground of sorts in the form of their outdoor lot. Said lot is outfitted to host the perfect little hangout. The lot contains plenty of seating -- most under a canopy -- two food trucks, and, overall, laid back vibes. Their outdoor lot does seem to have been a makeshift decision and due to the number of people it is capable of holding, the indoor bathroom is not able to cut it on its own. Solution: Portable Bathrooms. Said bathrooms do make the grounds look like a construction site, but, yea, I get it. As for beer, they are known for their hard seltzer, Bang Sauce, and slushies. Their classic offerings are varied as they should be. Two DIPA's on tap -- Hutte and The Ocho -- were strong, but not the best (old and a little metallic). The no dog policy is a turnoff, but my understanding is that their insurance has banned all dogs on the premise due to a previous bite incident. Not exactly bogus, but certainly the first I have heard of such an arrangement. If anything, they need proper and obvious signage that no dogs are allowed as the workers are annoyed having to constantly kick people out and the dog owners also get turned off especially when a worker is clearly giving them a bad attitude (witnessed this a lot during my short visit). The place has most of the markings of a laid back brewery, but their no dog policy is really hurting that brand.

Why are there no dogs allowed?

Thank you for asking! On a personal level we love dogs and almost every employee has at least one.  However, we are no longer legally able to operate and allow dogs.  Over the years we had many incidents culminating in our current situation.  We… Read more

This is our second visit to Shelter Distilling in the last year. We just stopped in for an…read moreappetizer and drink. We typically like sitting at the bar but bar seats were full so we opted for a table rather than wait. There are both high top and low top seating available as well as bar seating against the windows and fermentation silos. There is also seating outdoors if weather permits. The tables use a bar code scanning system to order food and drinks, then a person will deliver the food. I'm okay with this but I can see why some people would be frustrated with this process. For the appetizer we ordered the POBLANO ARTICHOKE DIP - $16 Artichoke, Poblano Chile, Corn, Cheddar, Colby Jack, Parmesan, Garlic, Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese. Warmed and served with Pita bread or chips. We elected for the tortilla chips. This is a tasty appetizer and the perfect size for two people. For drinks we ordered two different hot cocktails served almost like a hot tea. Mulling it over - $17 Glass Creek Vodka, Mulled Spice Juice, Lemon. This was quite good and had a little bit of sweetness. The second was The Hot Toddy. $17. American Single Malt Whiskey, Lemon, Honey, Ginger. This tasted a little stronger and no sweetness. Do I think the drinks are a little expensive , yes. But sadly that is what you come across in a ski village. Personally I was a little shocked at how many families with young children were at the distillery but I've noticed that in almost every bar or brewery in Mammoth. Another good but different experience at Shelter Distilling.
