I had an bright orange ladder 8 ft tall ( not exactly something you can't see lol ) but some how it was missing at the destination .Apparently the Jersey crew took it . After numerous calls and emails they found it lol and promise to deliver to Florida on their next run . Still no ladder as of today . Service is fine if you don't mind getting your stuff 4 weeks after they tell you they'll deliver it. Oh and they increased my price twice after giving me an estimate, once when everything was already on the truck. I would give 3 stars except when I researched them when my stuff was missing, I found that they had clearly posted a bunch of fake reviews on the Better Business Bureau website, one a day for a couple weeks around Christmas, to make their score look acceptable and balance out all the complaints that had occasionally come in over years. read more

Stop while you're ahead and take your moving services anywhere but here. I spoke with Andrew in sales about my move from New Jersey to Ohio and he said our belongings will be delivered 3 days after we move into our new place. When the drivers arrived to our location (5 hours late) in New Jersey, they explained it will be 3-21 business days for the delivery. I mentioned how Andrew told us it will be around the 3 day window since our belongings will be on a truck with another move from Massachusetts to Illinois and will delivers our things on the way back from Illinois to New Jersey. I called a few days after the holiday for an update and Andrew said it should have already been delivered. I mentioned to him it was not and he told me he will call me back. I have yet to hear from him in over 3 days now. I understand things can get lost in the shuffle, but not even updating someone on a change in schedule is such an easy thing to do and he didn't even put the effort in to do that. I spoke with Alani in customer services, and honestly, I have no idea how she still has a job. She refused to give me any updates, said if we want express shipping to pay an additional $3000, and also gave us the wrong invoice which was 10 times our initial quote. She also hung up the phone when I called again from a different number for an update saying their office was closed at 4 PM, although I spoke with her two days prior at 5 PM and their hours days 9-5. These people are scammers and running an amateur hour clown show. There's no saying where our things are, what condition they are in. I hate to be so negative about their customer services as they movers were very nice and deserve much better than Alani, Andrew, and Distance Movers or Modern Logistics LLC, or whatever they change their company name to in efforts to save face. read more

Distance Movers, the worst movers who lie about everything finally delivered my stuff in 31 days. Picked up on Nov 18th & dropped off on Dec 19th. My stuff were in shambles. Television cracked screen beyond repair, I had to throw it away. Couches were dirty & had ginger marks on top. Shoe rack broken had to be thrown away. Side tables broken. This is the most unethical, disastrous and rude business. Unless you want headache, waste of money & stress DO NOT USE DISTANCE MOVERS. These are scammers who lie for every little thing. I used movers to bring all my garage storage to a new property. We had toolboxes, sports equipment, heavy shelves and bins full of hardware! The team took the shelves apart and marked each piece with tape so it could be put back easily. They carried the toolboxes carefully and kept them upright so the drawers wouldn't slide open. They used the correct tools and put everything back together at the new location perfectly. Probably one of the saddest scams I've ever been caught up in. Ended up paying almost $1000 more than my original quote after the company claimed they couldn't pull their truck up to my building, even though we have a loading zone. Which is something they should have anticipated as "professional" movers in major metropolitan areas. They sell you on the move, keep your stuff hostage and add on costs throughout the process. The movers unloaded our stuff and reloaded it into uhual which we were charged for the day of. We moved from New York to Chicago and it took them over 2 weeks. Alana, or Alani, (her named changes depending on if you're on the phone, or communicating via email), is the most unhelpful and rude customer service rep I've probably ever worked with. And there is not one other customer service rep who we could talk to. She is the only point of contact and made sure we never spoke with higher management or otherwise... We are relieved the move is over, but it was not without major hiccups and absolutely no accountability from the company. The pickup was almost 2 hours late, so we had to move our stuff onto the street ourselves and wait outside our storage unit in the NYC cold. We specifically told them the facility closed at 6p and they showed up a little after 8p. When they finally arrived for drop-off we were missing 2 pieces of furniture that they had to go back for. Save yourself the trouble and get a uhual. If you can't do the lifting... Get a uhual and then hire your own people to move your stuff. Thankful that this process is over. read more

Our move involved a lot of outdoor items, a patio set, a grill, and kids' playset parts. The crew treated it all with as much care as the indoor furniture. They cleaned off the muddy grill before wrapping it and disassembled the swing set neatly, bagging all the bolts. They even neatly folded the trampoline safety net. It rained lightly in the afternoon, but they kept working safely and covered items on the truck ramp with tarps. I can't even give this company 1 star! 2 guys showed up at 8pm and finished loading the truck at midnight. They took the truck back to NJ, I was on Long Island, NY. No furniture was wrapped and every piece damaged. They cut open my boxes and went through them to take what they wanted. I used clear tape and they re-taped with brown tape. Half of my things were not delivered. They literally stole half of my things. My vacuum, was not on their inventory sheet which showed they had all intentions of stealing it. I ended up paying double because they continually distorted money from me. I originally hired Alliance Van Lines Co. in Florida. I was not told they were a broker. They passed my move to Distance Movers. When I put one of the movers name in google search, his mug shot came up. I had called multiple times and no call backs. They stole my jewelry, scarves, childhood family photo albums and my wedding photo album. They stole glasses, dishes , electric toothbrush, waterpik, cleaning supplies and more. They stole my mother's day cards, things my children made for me when they were little. Outraged is not a suitable word for what they did. I can replace many things, but not the sentimental things. I feel like I was emotionally raped and violated. I don't sleep and I cry a lot. DO NOT hire from either of these companies. The previous company my father called quoted an extra amount just to move a few items. These guys gave us a reasonable price and stuck to it. They moved our washer, dryer, and a sectional couch last Tuesday. Horrible experience- absolutely terrible!!! They are scammers and will nickle and dime your move so please do NOT believe whatever they quote you. I was charged an additional $600 day of the move, this was AFTER having to reschedule my flight out due to them not arriving on time the first day. Proper notes were not taken about my move as I stressed that there were time constraints due to traveling from another state and having a storage unit with limited hours of access but upon FINALLY speaking to management I was told that there was NO mention of the time constraints, despite having several conversations with customer service rep Alana about it. Customer service will try to block you from speaking to anyone above them. I was told that no one else worked in the office and that they would "reach out to their supervisor" for days. However, when I called back and asked for management contact info I was told by Alana ( the same person who was going to reach out to her supervisor) that all of a sudden she "was the manager" and that she was "doing me a favor" by taking my call at 4pm (despite the hours of operation being listed online as 5pm). I called around some more and eventually got another woman to connect me to John who is apparently also "the manager" and of course there was still no resolve--as a company they will go to great lengths to avoid accountability and block your access to speaking to someone higher up. Aside from all of this my furniture arrived broken - which it wasn't when it was put on the truck (as I viewed them load it) While I must admit that the gentlemen who delivered my items at the end were a pleasure to deal with I also found out they were privately contracted and don't work directly for the company which makes sense because EVERY OTHER PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN TRASH. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!! spend the money to book with a professional service because the catch is by the time they're done overcharging you- you will have spent the same money. read more

When I asked about the bad reviews on here, the mover didn't try to lie. He explained that both those reviews originally booked with a broker. He didn't try to persuade me not to go with the cheap broker price he just stated facts and why he was a couple hundred more. I'm so glad I went directly with the carrier. I used this moving service for my college move-out, and it was honestly a breeze. I was worried about fitting all my dorm stuff and furniture into one truck, but they had it under control. They were super friendly, even joking about the random items in my mini fridge. They asked for my input on were to place my boxes once we got to my new apartment. The absolute worst experience I have ever had. I have been overcharged, driver refused to deliver my items to my home despite availability within driving truck accommodation to my home. Damaged furniture items, including 55 inch TV. I have followed up with the company for a claim information I was told. this claim will take over a month to be completed. Even though they have not yet sent me the claim information so that I could go ahead and submit my claim in due time. There is only one person available for customer nobody else can help in any other was nobody else can help in any other way.
