I moved from Brooklyn, NY to Florida. Herb Santos said it would take a whole week for my furniture to arrive in Florida. My things arrived Two Weeks later. I wasn't told until my items were on his truck that he (Herb) had no clue of when my items would actually arrive, as they would be handed off to another moving company mid-trip. I stayed at a filthy motel (all I could afford), then slept on the floor of my Florida apartment for three days. When my things arrived, many of my labeled boxes were severely crushed, many boxes shoved in to unlabeled Velocity boxes - Not at my request. Velocity movers almost moved two children's bikes and three small tables into my Florida apartment until I stopped them and said they were not my items (I wonder what family is missing these items). Over $230.00 of my items, including a brand new, never opened ceramic vase (approx 26" tall) were broken and or extremely damaged. The vase was a house warming gift that I cannot replace sentimentally. I was very upset. Velocity Moving and Storage tried committing fraud by forging my name to an inflated invoice. It's hard to imagine worse moving company. Before you pay them money they would tell you things like "your move will take maximum 5 days, we put in a contract 21 just in case of some extraordinary situation happens", in reality, as soon as you pay them money, they say things like "you signed a contract, we have 21 business days to deliver your things". So be prepared to stay one month in a hotel if you hire this company. They have no intention to make your move good. When I called customer service a guy would say things like "you changed your delivery date so many times", "6K is not much money, just wait 21 days". Absolutely disgusting customer service. I have all emails with pick up and delivery date clearly stated. Oliver just a very unpleasant person who literally would gaslight me and invent things like "you were not ready to receive furniture" and "you changed your date so many times that's why it's delayed". I have every email and every piece of communication, and that person Oliver just a disgrace to humanity. When I told him that we paid over 6K already, he laughed and said "6K is not much and don't bother me on a weekend". Disgusting. Everything was extremely delayed, the dates were messed up and no one knew what was going on. I don't understand how they put person like Oliver to work in customer service? I doubt he could do any good work. He is great at gaslighting and humiliating. Every single piece of our furniture was damaged! They also made a hole in our wall, damaged a staircase! We had a new house, just renovated, and movers came in with zero regard for our furniture or our house, made a literal hole in the wall. Please tell me how much worse it could be? They will charge you so much more money than they initially tell you. They charge by sq.ft, so they would pack something tiny in the big box and change you extra. Also, they ask if 18 wheeler can come to the place and deliver furniture. We found out from neighbors and HOA that 18 wheeler will have no issues, however movers told us that "we cannot maneuver" and they asked for more money to get uhaul and deliver things on a smaller track. On delivery they didn't assembly majority of our furniture and said "they had other deliveries". To sum up: broken furniture, damaged house, overcharged move, and horrible customer service. Please, please, please, do yourself a favor and avoid this company! If you already paid and reading this, at least get a third party insurance company to at least get money from this place after all your furniture is damaged and parts a lost. read more

The lead person on my move job crammed a 2 day move into one day. They packed up my house (6162sq ft) and moved us. They arrived at 10:15 am and the truck didn't pull away until almost 1:30am. The broke the house elevator, scratched up my hard wood floors. Never covered any flooring. At 1am , going through all of our bedrooms they totally forgot to pack up my son's entire closet. By this time there were no wardrobe boxes left. So they crammed all of his hanging clothes into little boxes. It was a total disaster. I would never use them again nor recommend them. From threatening to cancel job if we did not give them additional $1k when they arrived, to gross incompetence in their packing, damaging one of our most precious pieces of art, and taking more than twice as long as they should have done to do a poor job. Tipped Too Much and Too Soon! International Van Lines was rated very well but they subcontracted to this outfit. They packed everything we did not pack, all the large items, frames, furniture, dressers, etc. We could not keep watch on everything. I thought they did a pretty good job, there was a lot of stuff, I mean a lot. We were moving from NY to Florida. They promised to re-assemble anything they took apart for the move. That was an empty promise. Would have been very difficult because the legs to the bed were not packed with it. Tabletops were in boxes without markings. The TV's were packed but still looking for the remotes, etc, etc. Frankly I am shocked there is not more breakage so far. We'll see. Still a lot to unpack, especially our china and other valuable tableware. As we unpack we see how haphazard a lot of the packing was and certainly there were packers more careful than others. There was no rhyme nor reason to the packing, just grab something and put it in a box. Had to deal with Hurricane Ian, so some delay was expected, but they were always very sketchy about pick up and delivery dates, nothing you could really rely on. 5 guys packed us up. 2 guys were here to unload and nothing was reassembled, even though they did unwrap the items that were padded or wrapped in plastic. BTW the delivery people were a subcontractor of Velocity! They have you over the proverbial china barrel, so be careful. Try to check out the ACTUAL mover before you commit. (This is the same co. as Brooklyn. The delivery company picked up from storage in Brooklyn. I give the delivery guys 5 stars, took them about 7 hrs and had to walk the stuff about 50 yards to the lobby of the building.) read more

For this move I choose a highly rated company to pack contents and fully unpack and dispose of trash. The truck arrived late, I was never informed the they would not meet the date. When I called the said, "didn't you read the fine print we have 21 days." Well I gusss 21 days would have been better than 29/30 days without furniture and clothes. So get this, they hire people to unpack and unload from CRAIGSLIST!!!!!!! REALLY CRAIGSLIST!!!!!! So promptly on the first day one of the Craigslist workers robs the cab of the truck, steals the drivers wallet and stashes my custom mattress. Naturally the police had to be called in. So, almost everything piece of furniture had scratches or was broken, the Chinese medicine cabinet had its hinges ripped off, antique mint condition singer sewing machine is broken and cracked in multiple locations, expensise glass broken, ceramic art broken and a very large porcelain lamp from grandmother shattered and the list goes on. I truly cannot recommend this company less. Everything was fine with pickup and storage of my stuff - the trouble started when I called to schedule my delivery. The first time I called, two weeks before I moved into my new apartment, I was told I should wait until moving day since the shipment might come early. I scheduled it a week later and was told it would take 2-3 weeks. As weeks went by and I called to check on the shipment, I was either rudely pushed off or given excuses. I was constantly told that it would be on a truck "soon" or "next week". I had to try contacting International Van Lines to have them call and get more information, which worked only occasionally. An already stressful situation was made worse having to deal with the people at Velocity. After sailing past the agreed-upon delivery date, the shipment eventually made it upon a truck. When the latest ETA passed again, I was told (only then!) that the truck had apparently broken down and been fixed. A few days later, it had allegedly broken down again. The delivery was so late that I was compensated the entire remaining balance. Finally my stuff did arrive... moldy. Furniture, clothes, and sentimental, irreplaceable items were covered in mold. I spent a week dousing everything in bleach and vinegar but not everything was salvageable. TL;DR If you want your stuff to show up on time and clean, look elsewhere. read more

Overall I had a great experience with Velocity, and I appreciate how communicative they were and straightforward on pricing. Overall, I think they provided the best value of the quotes we received, and were willing to be flexible to accommodate our unusual move circumstances. Really appreciate that they didn't pull any fast one when it came to the final bill! One draw-back: after the move, we noticed a few small accessory items missing: the mounting piece to a mirror, a few leg caps from a pair of chairs. These are things the client wouldn't notice during a move, but I'd encourage the team to do a thorough sweep of the truck after the final items have been moved. read more

Incompetent, unreliable extortionists. IVL subcontracted to them for our move from NYC to the west coast. The original estimate for our 3 bedroom house (2k sf) was $10k. But the final cost was by "space utilized." By the time Velocity was done wrapping every large piece of furniture 5 times and throwing random things haphazardly into boxes, the amount was $23k. That's right. $23k to move a 3 bedroom house. But what are you going to do after they've packed your belongings? Say, no forget it? But that was only the beginning. It took us almost a month to get our things, and the staff was completely unhelpful. When they finally came, they said they couldn't turn onto our gigantic west coast street. They left without even saying a word. After a fight with the dispatcher, they came back the following morning (incidentally my first day back to work) and charged us another $2k for a van to bring things up to the front door because they somehow weren't allowed to park on the (gigantic west coast) street and bring things in the back door. And of course, they would not release our things before we gave them the rest of the cash for the move. So many things were broken and so badly packed that it's a wonder any of it arrived in tact. We thought we were hiring professional movers and packers, but instead, these "brokers" subcontracted the work out to Velocity, without even informing us. We had no choice. That's the thing about this Yelp review that is so sad... this is how Velocity gets its business; the Yelp review doesn't matter and they know it. You would think that IVL would at least have actually brokered the agreement, but you'd be wrong. They never answered their "direct lines" and rarely responded to email. And the night before the original delivery date, my husband had to go to 15 ATMs in our new city to withdraw $11k in cash. Yes, this is how moving works in 2021, apparently. You have to traipse around a city in the dark with a bag of cash like a drug dealer. And speaking of subcontractors, Velocity then sub-subcontracted the delivery out to several guys (besides the main Velocity person, who "drove the truck" but actually didn't, because we found out later our stuff came on a freight train), most of whom seemed like they had come straight from camping in the wilderness for three months and smelled like it, too. In summary, no I would not recommend Velocity or IVL, and I am looking into filing a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau or Better Business Bureau regarding Velocity. However, I've read that I cannot file it, since technically IVL hired them. Win-win for everyone. read more
