Three months later and Simply Moving has refused to fairly compensate my partner and I for the thousands of dollars worth of furniture and irreplaceable artwork they willfully destroyed. They won't offer even so much as a refund for the empty boxes they fraudulently charged us for, or for the services we didn't receive. It will be many more months before we get a court date for small claims court, and there's no guarantee we'll ever be reimbursed for all of our ruined things. The complete lack of customer care is offensive after paying so much for moving and packing services. There's just no need to be so careless as a business, but apparently it's worth their time to argue for months and years instead of paying for their mistakes. Two stars are for the friendliness of the movers, but they should get 0 stars for how they treated our furniture. We had just moved in a year ago and spent an obscene amount of money furnishing our place with high quality furniture, only to move out this year and have many pieces absolutely ruined by the carelessness of this company. Our couch is ripped in several places and dirty beyond comprehension. A large mirror was not even wrapped during the move and there is a huge streak of white paint down the side from being banged against a wall. The kitchen island is scratched and damaged in multiple corners. Listen, moving into a walk up in NYC with heavy furniture in extreme heat is super challenging. I'm not arguing that. But movers have one job - to safely transport your stuff from one location to another - and they failed to do this not with just one piece of furniture, but many. Additionally, when I complained to the company, they offered me a paltry $200 for the damages. I'd be laughing if I wasn't so irate, because our furniture is worth thousands of dollars and is essentially new. Unless you don't care about maintaining the quality of your things, book with someone else. It's not worth it. read more

I was happy with the movers - they were kind, skilled and moved as quickly as they could to try to finish my move on time. What I was not pleased with was that the movers arrived late. My move had a start window of 1:00-3:00, and the movers did not arrive until just before 4:00. My new building required that the move be finished by 5pm, which was did not happen based on this arrival. The move was finished by 6, so if the movers had arrived within the start window, we would have finished on time - they were very efficient. Other than that, the move went smoothly. read more

My move was scheduled for October 11 between 8am and 10am. Bob called at 730am and said they would be there at 8am. They arrived at 8am. Bob and his team were phenomenal. They moved boxes and furniture for a 2 bedroom house in less than 2 hours. They then moved me to a duplex condo on the 3rd floor with no elevator and bedrooms were on the 4th level. The move went great. The team was super quick and professional and they were very careful with my belongings. I was running late meeting them at the pickup location due to subway delays and they were happy to wait for me to get there. They had no problem meeting the requirements of my delivery location (cannot keep lobby door open, needed to be done in a certain window of time) and were very careful to not damage either buildings or apartment. The team was super nice and happy to move around furniture if I changed my mind with where I wanted them. They were also happy to chat a bit as they worked so I didn't feel like an awkward spectator. The contacts at Simply Moving before the move itself were also very responsive and helpful with scheduling a short notice move and finalizing my inventory list. They came highly recommended by a friend who has used their services 3 times and I have to say I'll be happy to recommend them in the future as well! We used their services back in October and had a very positive and professional experience with them. Three guys came: 1 guy drove, 2 guys came inside to move stuff to the truck. The driver helped unload the truck. This means the truck was never left unattended, though it'd be pretty difficult to steal our furniture. The team of movers were super efficient and chill. The whole process took 3 1/2 to 4 hours- packing from point A, to unpacking at point B. Another bonus of simply moving is they did not charge for their "certificate of insurance"- other places did. I moved only a couple of furnitures. They provided me with a reasonable estimate. I opted them only for their yelp reviews when I had cheaper options. The problem is that there is roughly about 15-20% hidden cost on top of what they quote. They charge credit card processing fees is roughly about 2% extra, then they movers need a tip as well while boarding and also while dropping stuff. They also asked me 250$ extra for getting a small van in the premise. I never agreed to that but then they sent me an email saying it's in quote. It was never in the quote. I wouldn't trust them for delivery. I called back Erica asking for explanation but they just don't care. The sales team where horrible. Pay a few bucks extra and go to some professional movers. read more

I had a huge move of my three storage units in one day. And I needed to make a stop at a donation center for some bulky furniture, before the final destination. The movers Vinnie, Sal and Derrick were so incredibly helpful and accommodating. They helped me every step of the way, and they made a day that I had been dreading into a very stress-free experience, and even a bit fun. They were upbeat and funny and incredibly professional. I'm preparing myself for another move out of state and thought back on my experience with Simply Moving about two years ago. My move involved a few of their services (move from a walk up to their storage facility for a few months, then finally to a new apartment with an elevator), so I feel qualified to comment on each step of the process. I'd been in contact with Mike, one of the customer representatives, a few times prior to the move in regards to estimates as well as the fine print of the contract that I signed in the move. Be aware that while Simply Moving will disassemble lots of furniture pieces, they will not deal with IKEA furniture as listed in their contract. I was concerned about this point after I combed through their contract and called Mike about it, who then informed me that their movers would take it curbside in the worst case scenario. This was a relief to me given the fact that I lived up three very long and narrow flights of stairs in a walk up; disassembling and carrying down pieces of a heavy armoire was not something I felt I could do solo. Come the day of the move - the movers refused to move the armoire or take it curbside. I explained my previous conversation with Mike and they didn't seem to care. My belongings were now in their hands. Was I supposed to make a scene and not tip them? My lease was ending a few days after this move and I had to disassemble the armoire piece by piece, dangerously navigating those winding stairs with heavy pieces of plywood that were double my height. I barely managed to do it myself and I don't know what I would have done if I had been slightly older, weaker, or less fit. I called Mike about this issue within weeks after my move and he informed me that the movers that had been responsible for my walk-up situation had been fired/left the company, as if that was any consolation. He also offered a discount/compensation that never materialized, so... Moving into the new apartment went without issue, but that is when I noticed that my furniture had not been stored in an ideal environment. Dust and debris had settled into furniture pieces despite them being wrapped by Simply Moving?! Would I recommend Simply Moving again? Probably not, but I have yet to find a moving company that offers the trifecta of great pricing, good service, and efficient moving. read more

This company is great! From start to finish. Movers called the day before the move to confirm the move the time frame was from 8am to 10am! Movers came at 8:20 (and called an hour before arrival). They wrapped my stuff and confirmed inventory, got the job done with no issues! I didnt have to move a muscle. Long distance moves can be frustrating but they made it very easy! They brought my items from NYC to Los Angeles in less time than i expected, the average the move from 10-21 days it came in exactly 10 days! They called 24 hours before arrival with a time frame, then called 1hr before arrival. They brought in all the items, they assembled the bed threw out the old bed without charging any extras! It was no hidden fees, no surprise charges, nothing was broken, nothing was lost. I have no complaints! I would recommend this company they are safe and provide top notch service! Couldnt be happier! I had a very positive experience with this moving company. I've moved 5 times in nyc and this was the best experience ! If you are lucky to have Franklin as your foreman then you will have a perfect move. He was on time, professional and very kind to my daughters even when they got in the way. We had 4 guys on the day of the move, each had a job they focused on. We had an extra pick up and drop off and they were extremely organized. They had the lowest quote on unpakt so I was nervous at first but as soon as I talked to Franklin I realized he knew what he was doing. They didn't break any furniture and everything including my filing cabinet was wrapped! Please do not use this company. They ruined nearly every expensive item I own, equaling thousands of dollars in damage. I also made the mistake of using their packing service. All our belongings were merely dumped into boxes (think wet items with handbags, broken items upon unpacking). It was awful. They also left a ton of items in cabinets which I had to pack and move myself later. Furthermore, th two men employed by simply moving were too lazy to make two trips so they squeezed everything I own into their truck, warping expensive floor mirrors, scratching our expensive wooden dining table and chairs, scratching our Herman Miller chair, the list goes on and on. It was devastating. Then upon arrival at the new home, they left items including our daughter's crib unassembled with screws missing. I have moved several times in NYC and this was by far the worst moving company I ever used. I used Simply moving for moving out of Forest Hills in Queens on to a trailer for a cross country move(used them just for the labor). Very professional to deal with before the move, $50 deposit, insurance papers , follow up everything was timely and professional. On the day of the move Juan, Benito and Dusan came exactly on time. I advise you to not use Simply Moving. They somehow forgot our couch (the reason why we hired a moving company in the first place) in a move from New York City to Florida. Our problems first started when they arrived here, alleging that I had to pay a $300 fee for every hour they waited cause a neighbors moving truck was in their way. After I discussed it with the neighbors movers and came to an agreement, the movers acted like they were doing me a solid for not charging $300 per hour. We were told we'd hear from the owner to make things right about the couch. It has been two days and we have heard nothing. We have not been told when we would get our couch/a refund. I just called again and the guy who answered refused to let me finish a sentence without him interrupting. This man talked over me every single time I opened my mouth and would not let me tell him what I needed. He would not give me a number for the claims department. He blamed all of this on working from home. We are all working from home, I understand the struggle. But because of this moving company we do not have our couch and have paid for an expensive move, even though Simply Moving did not hold up their end of the agreement. read more

We just moved out of our apartment to a house in NJ yesterday and I could not say enough good things about Simply Moving!!! There was a lot to move - a decade worth of stuff! - but they were so efficient and took way less time than I expected. They also handled everything with so much care that I didn't need to buy those Fragile stickers I got. Since our floors are being redone in the house, we had them move everything into the garage. They were so smart about it that they created aisles between the boxes and furniture so we could easily find anything we need in the meantime. Genius idea! read more

I believe that you only see a company's true integrity and customer service level when there is an issue. In that regard, this company has failed miserably. I used Simply Moving for my move in December and am still waiting on them to resolve my issue. They caused damage in my building while moving my furniture out and have not taken responsibility or reimbursed me the money that I lost due to their negligence. What is worse is that they do not answer my emails or call me back, yet they were so eager to speak to me when I had asked for a quote back in December. I regret using them instead of another company and strongly recommend anyone considering using Simply Moving to look elsewhere. Unfortunately they are not honest and I will have to go a legal route to have my issue resolved. read more
