Interstate move. $10,000 1 bedroom apartment. Suppose to arrive at 2pm. Showed up at 11pm. Delivery: Arrived late. Their truck broke down en route. They then unloaded all of my things and put them in a U-haul. Many damaged items and crushed boxes. I sent pictures to the main office several times. Nothing was done. 3/4's of my items unloaded, the drivers informed me they expect a 10% tip. I refused. (I already tipped them...for the pick up AND the delivery). The three workmen then cornered my son outside and got extra money from him. At my insistence, management did do the right thing and returned that extra money. Absolutely the worst moving experience of my life. I worked with SEKA before, two times, moving within Brooklyn, then Brooklyn to Long Island, so obviously I called them when we decided to move to California... and everything I thought about the company, evaporated! - Delivery took over a month and a half. - Communication about delays was basically nonexistent - Breached their contract - Damaged and lost our stuff, totaling over $3,000 - USDOT and MC Operational Licensing problems/legality issues - Regularly ignored our requests for information, both through emails and phone calls. - Operating under several different business names, with layers of entities. 1. We have paid extra money for stuff to be delivered to two different locations in California, about 6-7 minutes away from each other (my parents moved with us and we rented a separate place for them), when they were picking everything up from our house, they walked around and labeled each item indicating what goes to address a and what needs to go to address b, but when the truck arrived, everything was simply shoved into the truck randomly, with zero regard to soft vs hard, light vs heavy items, with heavy items stacked on top of soft and fragile items, as an example, heavy furniture items were stacked on top of a very expensive fake Christmas tree in its duffel bag, and the list goes on, even the truck driver looked at it was like "What the hell? Who the hell packs this way!" 2. In the contractual estimate that we and probably you sign with the company, there are paragraphs with their guarantees, one of which and I would encourage everyone to pay attention to this one is their guarantee to pad wrap ALL THE FURNITURE in brackets, it says (moving blankets), only two of our furniture items were wrapped in blankets, that was my wife's piano keyboard and our massive 6x3 mirror which was lost (how do you lose such a large mirror?!) everything else was already shrink-wrapped by me before they arrived because i just wanted to keep everything clean, I did not expect that they will not wrap anything else in blankets. 3. Surprise, surprise, every single piece of furniture that wasn't wrapped in blankets arrived deeply scratched, dinged, damaged, chipped, and broken, and I mean 90% of items arrived damaged a different degree of damage, which means they are in breach of contract! 4. They have lost a ton of our stuff, including the massive mirror, gone, boxes with kitchen stuff like pots, pans, tableware, etc., gone, boxes with some of our shoes, gone. 5. Boxes arrived smashed, ripped, and some were damaged from some sort of leak that was sticky, and we discovered mice droppings in some of the boxes, now keep in mind, I dropped an AirTag in one of our items, and saw that for the entirety of the time, our stuff were just sitting at a warehouse in Jersey City, so I'm not surprised that the place might be rat/mice infested, but we had trow out some of the stuff from these boxes due to health concerns. 6. I have reached out to them almost immediately after we unpacked most of our stuff, and essentially asked for help and a fair resolution, sent an email with an itemized list of all the stuff that was damaged, broken, and missing, to which they sent me a form I had to fill up and submit, which I did, their response was and I'm quoting "Based on the total weight involved, this comes to $265.80. However, as a gesture of goodwill, we have rounded this amount up to $300" Over $3,000 of damages and losses, and they offered $300 as a gesture of goodwill. 7. When I tried to check their USDOT and MC Operator License numbers, they appeared invalid, I contacted USDOT and they confirmed over the phone that these numbers are invalid and the company under the name SEKA Moving should not be operating, I reached out to SEKA and asked them about this issue, here is their reply "Regarding your note about the USDOT and MC numbers: our company recently went through a management change, and with that transition, we were issued new licenses. The numbers you referenced were still included in some previously signed contracts." So I replied to that and asked for them to share the new Lice Numbers, that was a month ago! I was ignored on this request both via email and phone calls, they have never provided me with the new numbers. I have submitted a formal complaint to USDOT, BBB, and will be submitting one to the Secretary of State. In addition, I am considering a court filing as well. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Seka Moving OUTSOURCED my move without warning. I hired Seka Moving for a return cross-country move because of the trust they earned in my initial cross country move in 2022. I worked with Ashley to set up this move. She was adequate. Not nearly as thorough as my first time with Nick, but ok. I worked with Rob in the days leading up to moving day to schedule the time. Neither of them mentioned the possibility of Seka Moving outsourcing my move to a completely different company. On the day of my move I open the door expecting to see Seka Moving uniforms and instead I see 3 guys in BLVD Moving uniforms. I almost told them they were at the apartment but I realized they were the same guys who I spoke to that morning, and they had my Seka paperwork. The truck was also a BLVD moving truck. The packing and move out was fine but upon delivery I thought there was an issue with my TV because the detachable bezel was cracked. They convinced me it was just the bezel which I accepted (I wasn't crazy to believe it; just tired from the redeye I had to take across the country to meet the movers for the delivery.) They unpacked it outside and brought it in so I didn't get to see the box which in hindsight should have been a red flag. When I eventually unpacked the components to set it up and plugged it in I could see the inner panel was cracked, which is more expensive to fix than a replacement TV. The delivery guys were actually quite pleasant overall and did great job and I truly hope they weren't just overcompensating because they knew there was a problem with the TV, but in hindsight I can't help but think they did know. I was told I would get a copy of the delivery bill of lading in my email and I did get an email after signing off but when I went to attach it to my claim it was actually just a survey they asked me to fill out about how they did! No delivery bill of lading. The TV was $4200 at time of purchase. I sent in my claim and requested the current replacement price. They quoted the basic liablity of $92.40 and in a goodwill gesture offered $200. If Seka Moving had packed and moved me with the care they put into my first move I don't think I would have had a broken TV, but if I did I would have to accept this. They did not. They outsourced my move to a completely different, unvetted company with no warning. HAD Seka had let me know they were outsourcing my move I would have gotten additional insurance! If I even knew there was a remote possibility of outsourcing I would have gotten additional insurance. Nothing in my contract even hints at this. Instead I was blindsided after the window when additional insurance can be added. Just AVOID. My entire 2022 move was perfect and I've since recommended them to many friends and Reddits but they are not the same Seka Moving from 2022. This is not an honorable company. read more

Terrible moving company please stay away! We used their service last summer to move from one Manhattan apartment to another. It was scheduled as a 2-day job. While scheduling and ordering were seemless, the 3-4 gentlemen who arrived to help with moving were terrible. They arrived at 1pm instead of the morning as scheduled. We told them this was a major problem because our new apartment does not permit moving in after 5pm. They seemed aggravated by these rules, which were out of our control and made known to the schedulers from the get-go, and they stopped packing midway and attempted to move in what was already packed to the new apartment. When 5pm came, we asked them to stop but they pressured us to continue. We too felt pressure and panic as only half of our apartment was even packed. Not only did we get a penalty for violating the apartment rules, the movers scratched the elevator in their rush to move. This incurred a $1000 fee on us that the moving company REFUSED to pay. When we demanded their insurance pay, they gave some excuse about change in ownership, loss of previous insurance, and reimbursed us only $300. TOTAL BULLSHIT, TOTAL FRAUD. After this terrible first day of moving, the same 3-4 terrible movers, despite not completing their work the day prior as anticipated, again arrived at 1pm and rushed to finish by 5pm. Like the day before, they offered to work "until 1-2am if needed." It was ridiculous. They were clearly using the moving truck for their own business in the morning. They then demanded a huge tip and wouldn't leave until we agreed. We felt unsafe. They also broke a ton of our dishes because they packed everything like complete idiots--metal with glass. PLEASE PLASE NEVER USE THIS AWFUL FRAUDULENT COMPANY. These movers cost us more than $1,500 dollars in damages and refused to adequately compensate for this. I hired SEKA Moving for my household move in August last year. Several of my belongings were damaged or lost during the move. In April this year (within the company's allowed timeframe), I submitted a complete written claim to SEKA's claims department detailing documented losses and damages. Under federal law (49 CFR § 370.9), movers must issue a final disposition of a claim within 120 days, or provide written status updates every 60 days thereafter. However, SEKA has done neither of these things and has violated these requirements. Despite multiple follow-up emails and phone calls, SEKA has failed to respond to my claim for more than six months. This conduct demonstrates a pattern of noncommunication, negligence, and disregard for federal and state consumer protection obligations. read more

He was helpful and checked in on me throughout the move to make sure everything ran smoothly. The two men who moved my stuff and drove the truck were wonderful as well and I was happy to tip them at the end. They moved my apartment without fuss or complaint. The entire experience was effortless, and ever since I have been recommending SEKA to anyone looking for movers. My initial positive experience with SEKA is why I decided to use their services again; I felt this was a company I could trust. I fear that high praise has been tarnished by what I experienced during my move yesterday. An already hard move was made all the more difficult by this company. What should have been a 3-4 hour experience wound up taking the entire day, which is not an exaggeration. Originally, my movers were scheduled for a 9-11 am window. That was pushed back twice, and I didn't wind up at my new apartment until around 9 pm. Not only did SEKA's movers show up SIX HOURS LATE, but the men who moved my things took over two hours to load the truck. Why? Maybe it's because they were either staring at or talking on their phones for most of the move, completely ignoring me, the person who has been waiting on them for hours. I think when you're already running late, you should show a bit of urgency, especially if you have people depending on you. I want to reiterate: the last time I used SEKA, the whole move took about 3 hours. Granted, I wasn't leaving my neighborhood at the time, but that's the precedent that was set: quick, careful turnaround with minimal hassle. Not only were SEKA's movers late and lazy, but they barely spoke to me (I didn't even learn their names) and when they did, it was to complain about the amount of stuff I had and how "heavy" it was. I also watched them carelessly throw boxes clearly marked FRAGILE into the back of that truck without any tact. And THEN, after all of that, they tried to shake me down for a $200 cash tip. I only tipped them so they would leave, but I've already reached out to SEKA's customer care to have that money refunded. DO NOT USE. As of this writing, Seka has been refusing to return my daughter's items from storage for nearly two weeks. When they cancelled the first appointment at the last minute, they claimed the "gate" to the storage unit was broken and would be repaired in 3-4 days. Two days later, they rescheduled and canceled at the last minute again ... this time they said the problem was the unit was stuck up in the air on a lift. Seka has so far refused to reschedule and now states they moved the items to a unit on private property OUT OF STATE (without notice or consent). Meanwhile, my daughter is in her new apartment without her household goods. This is expensive and incredibly distressing. Among the items we entrusted to their care are a number or irreplaceable sentimental things. What is happening? Are the lost? Stolen? Why are they out of state? I've tried calling multiple times but just get a recording that the office is closed. I had a terrible experience with Seka Moving and would not recommend them at all. Please don't be lured by their cheap prices--it's simply not worth it. I sent my belongings with Seka's packers on July 11th. While the crew was nice, everything went downhill once they took my items. I had to repeatedly call Seka for updates, but all they would say was that my stuff would reach Texas by August 7th. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. As August 7th approached, I called Seka again for an update. I was told that my items had already been shipped on Friday and would arrive soon. When I asked about the dispatch email they had promised, I was told that it hadn't been sent yet. Finally, on August 7th, I received an email stating that my belongings would arrive either on the 8th or 9th. Then, on the morning of the 8th, I received a call from one of their employees saying the delivery would be on the 10th. My boyfriend, who was supposed to pick up the delivery, went to the office after the call. However, in the afternoon, Seka called me, angrily insisting that I should have been ready for delivery because I had received the email. When I explained that their employee had told me the delivery would be on the 10th, the representative, Chris, said I should follow the email, not the call. When I asked if I was supposed to disregard what their own employee said, he confirmed it. He also warned that if I didn't accept the delivery that day, I would be charged an extra $500. I asked about their supposed free storage, and he replied that it didn't apply after shipping. I was speechless. My boyfriend eventually came to the house for the delivery. We were supposed to get a call 24 hours in advance but only got one an hour before, and the driver started demanding more money for stairs. I told him that one flight of stairs was included in the quote, but he wouldn't listen.Also, despite having ample space and a parking spot, they charged extra for shuttle services. In total, they demanded $500 for the next day delivery, $70 for stairs, and $350 for shuttle services--all of which were sprung on me just hours before the delivery. When I questioned these last-minute charges, the representative, Mike, insisted that I had been informed via email, which I had not been. He kept pushing, and we just wanted to get it over with. Super efficient, very thorough, helpful staff, and open to negotiating the price. I could not have expected a better experience! The phone operators were patient as we worked through estimates and details of the move; they also dropped their price 10% when I had an offer from another company , so we decided to stick with Seka. I'm glad we did! The day of the move was great, three guys arrived 10 mins early (I didn't mind, I wanted to be done ASAP) and took a survey of the items. They were mostly business but after 20 minutes of moving we became friendly and chatted about family and neighborhoods in NY. They moved everything quickly and I didnt have to help at all. One small hiccup occurred when one of my framed posters fell off the wall...it broke but it was not their fault, but when they moved a bookcase it must have shaken loose. To make up for it, they moved another big box for me free of charge (I was going to take it with a friend's car later that night). From arrival to unpacking, it took less than 3 hours for a large studio apartment move from upper west side to LIC...great experience and service! These guys are fair and good at their job. I'll start this by saying that Seka Moving owes me over $1,300 and has not paid me after nearly a month. I had a move in early June with Seka, which was my second time using them. Once it was time to pay, I sent a payment over Zelle as requested. The payment was stuck processing since it was a Friday late afternoon. the movers called "management" and demanded that we pay from another device to see if it would go quicker, despite showing them that the money had already been taken from my account. Because the movers were growing upset and wouldn't leave, we sent another Zelle payment from my wife's device, which was also marked as processing. After phone calls to the bank, there was no way to reverse the first transaction, so we ended up paying twice. Seka told me they were issuing a refund and to wait 10 business days for it to process. After more than 10 business days, I called again. After numerous calls, no one can confirm to me that my refund was ever sent and each time they tell me that they'll call me back but never do. Now I'm told that a manager needs to "confirm". I'm not sure what is being confirmed, but I was told I was getting a refund weeks ago. They are low cost so I used them for this move, but I would not recommend using them. This experience has been extremely shady. read more

I hired Seka moving at the recommendation of two coworkers. During covid one coworker used them to pack up her apartment while she was gone; another was present for the move but used Seka's packing services and said he "did not lift a finger". They also have great yelp reviews. With that said I realize that I had higher expectations than what they were able to deliver. I'm sure they are great movers and I would consider them again for that service ONLY. For packing, it is not worth the hefty price tag. Short Story: The movers were unprepared, didn't pack efficiently, used more boxes than needed, and tried to get me to commit to large tips to avoid additional inflammatory fees. Longer story: The movers, a group of 3, arrived on time. There was a head mover who inspected my 1 bedroom apartment. After seeing my stuff, it was clear he wasn't aware that I had paid for packing in addition to moving. He seemed put off and annoyed and immediately reminded me of my total estimated price and said a 20% tip is standard and what they will expect for their work. After returning from getting packing supplies he told me I'd have to pay an additional charge for an extra set of stairs (from the sidewalk to my front door) although those stairs were stated clearly during my quote. When I pushed back he said he would not charge for the extra flight if I promised to tip him well. As they began to pack, I did not feel things were packed efficiently (see photo). My clothes were literally thrown from my drawers into boxes. They made no effort to keep them folded in order to maximize space. They tried to pack my vinyl records on top of a bunch of other items that would have resulted in my records being bent and damaged. I had to ask them to pack them in a way where they could lay flat vs. shifting around in a box. They left several of my coffee table books out, while multiple boxes of books were taped up without being full (I checked). I have an actual video of the mover throwing stuff in boxes without even looking! Overall, they seemed unprepared. No pens to label boxes. For all smaller things (jewelry dishes, printer, vases) they kept asking "does this need to be packed?" to which I kept responding "yes. Everything should be packed." I expected them to take a full assessment of my belongings and pack in an efficient way. Instead, it felt like they just made up the plan as they discovered what needed to be packed which resulted in them using more boxes than needed. Mover tried to charge me an extra $200 for 4 additional wardrobe boxes though almost all of my wardrobe was packed up. They wanted to use wardrobe boxes to pack shoes and pillows. I had to speak to a rep at their office over the phone twice to clear this up. Towards the end of the move, as they began to pack up my sofa the head mover asked me if they could pack my sofa cushions in wardrobe boxes, which would be an extra $45 per box (on top of the $200 they tried to charge before). When I pushed back on why my sofa cushions would be extra since my sofa was included in my estimate he said that if agreed to tip them $250 they will not charge me for any additional boxes. For reference, my total fee was $1170 including $200 for a month of storage, so $250 is over 20% for a less than stellar job. They also left empty tape rings and packing paper all over the place when they left. In the end, I agreed to tip the team $250 in cash to keep things amicable since they were handling my belongings. I wish there was more clarity in putting together the estimate. The initial conversation about what belongings I had was pretty brief and now I realize the proper level of inventory probably wasn't taken. Also, I had much higher expectations on how they would pack my stuff. I'm very concerned about the condition of my fragile things (vinyl records, vases, etc.). Terrible moving experience. Lost 2 pieces of furniture, did not re-assemble peloton bike, incorrectly re-assembled bed, dining table, and desk. Damaged walls, told us they couldn't move a sofa that then easily fit in the space. Left all wardrobe boxes fully assembled on sidewalk with their trash inside post-move. Tried to rush out the door and only cared about unpacking furniture, not putting it in appropriate rooms or putting rugs down first. Customer service told us they would come the following Monday to fix mistakes. No one showed up, even after 5 calls to customer service trying to reach someone to find out the status where they told me "we're not the type of company that doesn't show up." The following day, they told us it was because we didn't answer our phones or the door (we live on the first floor facing the street and were waiting by the window so would have seen them at the door. also, neither of us had missed calls or voicemails from them). Still waiting for them to come fix this issue. Will not use again and will be seeking refund. read more

I want to be clear, Seka Moving and Storage was extremely professional and felt like a perfect choice for a moving company up until the day of the move. I called and booked an appointment to move a 1 bedroom apartment a month an a half in advance, to which I was told was great because it gave them plenty of time to plan considering my move was at the end of a month which is a very busy time for them. They called me multiple times to confirm my packing list and gave me clear warnings about their insurance policy, even pointing me to other companies that would provide additional insurance if I had more valuable items. A week before the move, when we finalized the packing list, they let me know that my arrival window for the movers had changed from 9-11am to 1-3pm. No problem, I was planning on spending the whole day moving anyways. On the day of the move, I got a call around 12pm saying the movers were dealing with more items than expected with the previous client and that they would actually be arriving between 5-6pm. Again, I was flexible and had stuff to move over myself that wasn't on the list so I had things to keep me busy. I got another call around 2-3pm saying that they were actually moving up the estimated ETA to 4-5pm, which sounded great. Come 4:30pm, I receive a call and learn they are heading to me but are stuck in traffic and are about an hour and half away. Thirty minutes later, I get a final update that the movers were caught in an accident there were ambulances at the scene so they would not be able to complete my move. I am listing all the details because I want to show just how good the communication was between me and Seka from the customer service team. They did everything they could and I am very grateful for that. I do hope the moving team is okay and I am not at all upset that they could not help because due to that reason. I however feel compelled to leave a 1 star review because I had planned my entire move around this company and scheduled it over a month in advance. I believe better logistics could have prevented this issue. It seems their commitment to taking as long as necessary to help you move had some unfortunate and unintended consequences in my case. The very nice customer service lady offered to reschedule my move, however I had planned this for the last day of my lease so I needed to be out by midnight. Seka fully reimbursed my deposit and even gave me an extra 50 dollars back to pay for a U-Haul which I then had to spend the night moving all my stuff over myself. Super disappointed in this whole experience. Booking was nice and easy but when moving day came, they were over two hours late and when I told them I had to be out of the apartment by a certain time, the two movers still took their sweet time and took multiple smoke breaks. Also had to pay out of pocket to the mover because he said I didn't state there were stairs in over the phone but I did. He explained that if I pay him directly without letting the company know, it would be cheaper. Not sure what else to do and because I needed my furniture safe inside, I handed the money over. Whole thing felt a bit scammy and like I was taken advantage of. Movers barely spoke English so I felt as though it was extremely hard to explain what I had said during booking on the phone to then tell movers. Not only was this whole experience very unprofessional, one of the movers I guess found my phone number from the paperwork and has been texting me from an email repeatedly asking me out for a drink! I think their motto truly lives up to itsself, moving never felt so good and easy. Nika and his crew were very professional, they wrapped everything in the appropriate blankets secured by tape and were careful to take apart furniture that needed to be taken apart and did everything very efficiently. When they arrived at my place in New Jersey, they carefully unloaded the truck and put everything where it belongs. They even took care to ensure that any bookcases, where the backing had come loose, they took the effort to resecure it. when they brought the furniture to New Jersey and unloaded the truck they rebuilt the furniture that they had taken apart and even accommodated precisely where it needed to go. Moving, especially cross-country moving, is a massive pain. I'm lucky to have found SEKA given how skeptical I am of the moving industry in general. The price I got for a move from Massachusetts to California was basically unbeatable, and we got great service overall (wrapping and everything is included). We were fine with the delivery window of 2-3 weeks and it arrived on time. The sales agent I got connected with was super responsive and helped guide me along the way. Movers were punctual and followed all of my condo building's complicated move-out rules. The movers were courteous and thorough - for a small 2 bedroom we got 3 movers and they basically plastic wrapped and/or blanketed everything we owned. Some damage was to be expected (box damage, small scrapes on less-wrapped furniture that I should have asked for blankets on). Each item was inventoried and marked with a numbered sticker for me/them to mark off during delivery. We did our own packing of boxes and stuff due to time constraints, but I think packing is included in their pricing too. Some things to note: - The value was near unbeatable (trade-off = a slightly slower move than a pricier option) and the loading/unloading crews I got were awesome - Make an excel sheet of your entire inventory (furniture items and boxes and miscellaneous things). They need this for the quote but is a great way to get comps if you need it. They will use this for your final price and for checking off items as they deliver it. Update your agent with items as they get added/taken off your list to avoid surprise price changes (if any). - The basic move package likely has your shipment included with others. Each shipment has its own compartment in a huge truck though so you shouldn't lose anything. There is a pricier white glove package where it's just your stuff. - For your sanity, put an AirTag on one of your items/boxes (for any move). the drivers updated me on their progress though. read more

Worse moving experience! Really disappointed! When I initially contact to hire service it was great, but then my building requested COI, they kept sending it wrong and I tried to contact them and they kept saying they were going to answer and they never did. Finally they lost my furniture in my building! They left it in another floor and they said they were not going to pay because someone in my building stole it! I kept asking manager that service is door to door and that they needed to be responsable for my furniture! Luckly furniture was in a different floor, but I'm sure that if I didn't find it they would not have reimbursed anything! Strongly recommend to get a different service! read more

Two stars because they are relatively cheap and sort of efficient. If you're wondering why there are so many glowing reviews - they give you a discount at the end of your move if you leave a positive review. The sales process with these guys was so easy. Then came the actual move. 1) they went non-responsive after I signed the estimate. I reached out 6 days before my move for the COI for my building and there was no response. 2) they called the day before the move to confirm everything. I missed the call and the number you call back isn't a a real number, it's a Google number that isn't in service. They acknowledged that they had an issue and were looking into it when I did finally get a hold of someone. Their customer service line they give you in confirmation emails is the same story (this one is Verizon) 3) The day of the move the movers arrived and were relatively quick. However- they start to try to hustle you. I had 2 extra boxes over my inventory count and basically the head mover told me he can either tell the office or I can tip them more generously. 4) if you write a positive review you get $50 off your move. I set my move up with Mike, and he was very helpful and informative. I also got a call the day before the move to confirm the moving inventory and other details. We were given a 9am-11am window for the start of our move, and on moving day the crew arrived around 9:30, ready to go to work. They were friendly and kind, and they worked well together and with us. They wrapped all our furniture well and handled it with care. They disassembled our (heavy) Casper electric adjustable bed, wrapped it, and then reassembled it in the new place and took extra time to position it just where we wanted it on top of the bedroom rug. I felt that SEKA charged us a very fair price and handled the whole move with professionalism and care. I would definitely recommend SEKA. read more

I absolutely meant to leave a review for SEKA back in October of 2020 when everything was fresh in my mind, and I wish I had because I'd like to have singled out the people who made an unpleasant task easy and almost enjoyable. As it stands, their names are lost to time, but from the person who answered the phone to the last one to leave my new apartment, the experience was nearly flawless. Nothing was damaged, their team really went the extra mile, and everything was arranged on very short notice. This was during what I took to calling The Great Exodus, when there were seemingly more moving trucks on the streets of Brooklyn Heights than pedestrians on the sidewalk. There were two unexpected surprises, one of which was pleasant: a sleeper sofa that couldn't make it out the door, let alone down two flights of a narrow, twisting staircase, was easily disassembled and returned to its original state at the destination. The other was, well, less delightful, involving me having to stand guard over their questionably parked truck to keep an eye out for law enforcement, and my significant other doing the same on the other end. This might have been more pleasant if a balmy September hadn't suddenly morphed into a blustery and frigid October 1st, and I hadn't packed all of my jackets. Not being one to mince words, SEKA really saved my ass. With our lease nearly up in a place where we absolutely didn't want to stay one more minute than necessary, and a lazy co-op board taking their sweet time to convene and even consider our application for a period of two months, we switched gears in the eleventh hour and found a place with just a couple of days to spare. Other moving companies I had spoken with previously weren't able to accommodate us within even a week of our preferred moving date, but SEKA breezed in to save the day, and at a very reasonable price. The movers didn't answer my phone calls or text and customer service could not be reached. I'm updating my review to 3 stars since Sam, the owner, spent the time to hear me out in my awful experience and kept his word by having my belongings arrive on time. My items showed up from NY safe and sound, on time, and nothing was damaged/missing. The movers showed up early at 8:30am and unloaded/had my bed set-up in 3 hours. They also were attentive to ask where things should go and were diligent in making sure my items were carefully unpacked. While the past few weeks with Seka hasn't been fantastic, I do hope that raising my concerns and the terrible experience I went through to Sam will help change the way they operate. I am extremely happy with how they resolved my issues and made sure my transition to LA was smooth. read more

Horrible, terrible experience with Seka moving. They sended me 2 guys with no experience but terrible attitude. They couldn't disassemble my bed. One of the guy handle me a tool and asked me to do tried to unscrew it. A second later my bed was scratch by this other guy who has such a horrible attitude and didn't care about the furniture but to get it done in such a rush. I ended up stop the moving righ there. But the guy called the manager righ away telling he didn't do the damage in the bed. When I called to stop the moving because they did a scratch in my new bed and i didn't want to do the moving anymore the manager named Max he didn't care for me that i was the costumer or my furniture. He said his guy didn't do it. And all he cares was about my deposited telling me that I won't have refunded because I canceled when the guys were home. Although, this was no my fault. I did stop the moving because otherwise I wil ended up with all my furniture broke, or scratch it. I had lose my deposit yes, I had a terrible aggravation with the moving guy and the manager that I still have a nightmares. We recently moved into our new home and were so pleased with SEKA. Scheduling them was very easy with just one phone call. Pete was very professional and friendly. He asked concise and simple questions about our move and quickly gave an estimated cost. He explained what to expect (truck, how many movers, blankets, moving equipment, assembled and unassembled furniture). Up to our moving date, he was responsive with any inquires and confirmed our appointment 24 hours in advance to ensure all was set! Our moving day went so easy. We were scheduled to begin at 9am and the team arrived right on time and ready to work! The team was punctual, friendly, (very safe due to COVID) caring and very efficient! We had some very large, heavy items including fragile family heirlooms, and they had the strength and agility to move those items without ANY damage. Seka moving (working with TB Moving) destroyed all my stuff and then contacted yelp to remove my review (which included pictures of the damage, that the company says are "normal damage one can expect with a move with them" which should be it's own warning). I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but all I can say is that I wish I have heeded the one star reviews. $17,000 in damage later, the company is refusing to pay, just as they did with so many others. read more
