They failed horribly after given multiple attempts to fix it. I contacted Master's of Assembly to install an Ikea kitchen for my office that had yet to be built out. When they initially came to install the cabinets two Russian men arrived and got to work immediately and they finished the job in three days. They arrived late the first day due to traffic, had they arrived on time, it would have been done in two days. Initially, all cabinets looked okay but again we were still under constructions and they left everything a mess. After moving in, and cleaning everything up I noticed sloppy caulking with gaps (see photos), shabby work installing toe kicks, they failed to cut a hole in the countertop for the faucet, and they did not seal/attach the sink to the counter. By no fault of their own, I asked them to fill a gap between the wall and the counters. I emailed them the photos, and they resent them out to repair it. When they came they did not bring caulking to fix it, they also had no materials to fix the gap between the wall, they again failed to attach the sink to the counter, and the toe kicks looked the same but they again said they would come back to repair it. I let this go because I also asked them upon their return to pick-up 20 conference room chairs and they seemed willing to make it right. The night before they were to return I emailed them to see if they could pick up some dishes I needed for our holiday party so I could avoid ordering them online. They emailed stating that they could and they adjusted my delivery cost by $50. The next day they called and stated not all of the chairs were in-stock but they would complete it on a later day at no charge. I was okay with not receiving all 20 chairs. The guys then text me to confirm I needed an extra toe kick, I confirmed and sent them a photo of where I wanted the toe kick to go! When they arrived at the office they had 12 out of 20 chairs but half of my dish order. I don't understand why when they contacted me about the chairs, did they not mention they couldn't complete my dish order? Had they just said so, I would've gone online and ordered them as I intended to? Nevertheless, they failed again to caulk/grout professionally, they failed to repair the toe kicks, they did not install the toe kick under the dishwasher stating they couldn't (even though I sent a photo to them and they bought the toe kick anyway) and did not return it. They also filled the gap between the wall and the cabinets with two different color fillers?!?! They claim they only bought what I told them but then why would they not be the same color? In an all-white kitchen would it have not been common courtesy to let me know, one of the fillers did not match before poorly repairing? I called Valentina with Masters of Assembly while they were here and I also told them several times I was not satisfied. They ignored and challenged me. When I emailed the photos to Valentina she defended their shabby work. Maybe they can install simple items but DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE TO PROFESSIONAL COMPLETE LARGER TASKS. They are not contractors and I have learned my lesson, learn from my mistakes. Look at these photos and really question whether this is worth the money. I don't think it was. I paid approx $1,4k for the kitchen install, they don't do plumbing and they won't attach your sink. I am so upset with myself. They have embarassed me to my company because now I will have to pay to fix their mistake. read more

The best pricing for assembly that I could find from Yelp. I'd ordered all my furniture from Wayfair and one technician assembled everything in one afternoon, at half the price of comparable places. They also came back to finish my desk as it was missing pieces (they have a ~$60 minimum FYI). Easy and quick responses from them and able to book pretty last minute. Only downside was the second time they came they were about an hour late (first time they had given me an arrival window but second it was just a set time). That was fine by me as I wasn't doing anything else that evening but just heads up in case you are planning on using them on a tight schedule. I went back and forth with Denis when to schedule my appointment and he was very accommodating. There are two reasons I knocked off some stars. The installers were scheduled to come around 5.00-6.00 PM on a Sunday. They called me around 3.45 PM to ask if they could come earlier - sure, no problem. I texted my roommate to let him know there would be techs at our house later in the day and he told me the installers had already stopped by our building and rang the buzzer to come in, two hours before they were scheduled to come over. This was before they had called to check if they could come earlier. Guys! Please don't do this. My roommate was confused why these people were there and had to send them away since I wasn't home. It put me in an awkward situation with my roommate. Eventually I linked up with the technicians who did a good job with the installation. I paid $59 for a 30 minute job which was fair. I would have tipped the techs if they had been a little friendlier... The office manager called me afterward to collect my payment info and she was so sweet. read more

A-mazing! Full kitchen in Long Beach, NY. We decided for a fraction of the price that Ikea Kitchens quality are as good and sometimes even better than others costing multiple tens of thousands- only problem is they come in hundreds of boxes (1 of 1, 3 of 8, 2 of 4, etc) and no way to make sense to even begin assembling. Just had our house lifted through NY Rising and dealing with a lot of other things (also 3 kids, etc.). Priced out Ikea and many others installing after considering doing it ourselves for about 4 minutes and then getting a good laugh out of it. Anyway, we found Masters of Assembly via Google search and after having to check and double check because the price seemed too good to be true went with them. Long story short, we figured we'd get what we paid for and between our budget and our time make the best of how it turned out. Instead, we were immensely surprised to see how it came out and to this day people tell us that our kitchen looks like something from a magazine. Beyond that, they are full service (will plan, order, pick up, deliver and install) and they are literally machines. It would be amazing to see a time lapse video of the way they work because they are organized, detail oriented, clean and efficient. Polite, well-spoken, amazing work ethic, professional, clean cut and everything else you would expect from professionals working on your home. I had an excellent experience with Masters of Assembly. I recently bought a new tv but was too scared/nervous/scarred from previous experiences to mount it myself. I sent out about 10-12 messages on Yelp asking for quotes. Masters of Assembly quoted me the cheapest price & they worked around my schedule which I appreciated. Throughout the whole process Masters of Assembly was very communicative. They confirmed the appointment the day of, the timing of the appointment, and arrival (he beat me to my apartment and graciously waited). I assumed that the handyman would be in and out in 10 minutes but the guy who came took time to measure and ask me for feedback regarding height and location which I appreciated. I needed A LOT of stuff assembled. I'm pretty handy and would have no problem doing it myself or with a buddy, but considering the location and amount of items it became clear I needed additional manpower. I reached out to a handful of services that other Yelpers had rated highly and requested quotes. They were VERY responsive and upon providing them a list with links to the items I got a quick solid quote back. I choae them after comparing others and the fact that they were super fast in replying and quoting. We locked on a date the following week and since the assembly had to occur on Fire Island I gave them specific instructions on how to get there, what Ferry to catch etc. I checked in the day before explicitly stating what Ferry they needed to get and requesting a contact # for the 3 people that were assigned. While I had been assured everything was set I texted the Masters as it became.close to ferry departure time and learned they erroneously thought they could drive (blaming Google Maps). I let them know that was not possible and they had to Ferry over (which I was paying for) and told them the next ferry they could catch since at that point had missed the one they were instructed to take. So they caught the ferry that was 2 hours later which put us behind schedule - sigh (and -1 star). When they showed up they got right to work and were literally nonstop. When they completed one thing they asked to be pointed to the next. Any time there was an issue (damaged items upon opening etc) they were prompt to alert me. Thankfully not much of that. The assembling went on for ~7 hours until they were completed. I did a cursory inspection of the items and was able to pay via credit card over the phone. I included a tip as well for their hard work & was feeling good that a lot had been taken off my plate. The next day I was disposing of the cardboard packaging and found some "extra" bolts/screws and legs from beds?! While everything seemed stable I suspect some shortcuts had been taken and figured retracing the steps of assembly would be arduous - sigh (-1 star). Overall it was a decent deal and they were all business, just not as "well oiled" as I'd hoped. read more

They were able to give us an appointment for that upcoming weekend and provided us with a one hour window (10-11am)... they arrived at 10:50am and got it done within 3 hrs (they had said 5-6 hrs so pleasant surprise) he asked us where we wanted we wanted the unit & even asked us where we wanted the door knob placement. I requested them for assembly of 4 pieces of furniture. The reason that I took away stars is that on the day of the appointment i got a message one hour before saying that they won't be coming that day. I had gotten off from work early just for this. I tried calling them multiple times after that message, but got no reply till many hours later. The person I spoke very curtly told me that I could take the next day if I wanted. The next day I called to confirm, but again nobody would answer. When she finally did, she told me that she was busy speaking to customers and dint have time to answer my call. (well, I am a customer too). Two people showed up to fix the furniture, on time, and did an okay job. However, after they left I found nails scattered all over my apartment. On cleaning, I found 18 pieces of sharp nails and multiple other screws from my furniture littered around my floor that they dint use. None of my furniture is wobbly, so I think these could be extra, but scattering nails everywhere for anyone to step on is not cool. read more

Handy.com did a terrible job (I have a separate review for that), so I opted to get quotes from Yelp. Masters of Assembly was quick, very responsive, and the most reasonable quote of all. In addition, they were willing to accommodate me later that same day. I made it clear that I needed a very powerful drill. They came on time and with just the one we needed (the kind you plug to an outlet), the only problem is that it stopped working after drilling two holes. These things happen and, although frustrating, it wasn't their fault. They tried to use a back-up drill but my ceilings are so old they're really solid. In short, they had to return another day. The same guys showed up. I would say the only issue is language. They're Eastern European and spoke to each other in their language a lot - which didn't offend me. But I kept explaining some things that they didn't get (i.e. not to drill the holes too far apart). This is the reason they get 4 out of 5 stars. These guys are true professionals who did top quality work despite a series of challenges that the average installer would not have overcome. Let me explain. We have two young boys and had four IKEA Malm dressers which were recalled because they are a tipping hazard (my 3yr old shockingly proved that out weeks earlier by tipping one over, saved by the fact that it fell against our bed). To find alternatives we looked on Craigslist and came across a beautiful wardrobe for sale in the West Village at a great price. Before committing to the seller we needed an estimate of how much it would cost to disassemble it, carry it down 5 flights of stairs and reassemble it in our elevator building on the UWS. We found Masters of Assembly on Yelp, saw the good reviews and decided to try them. On the day of the estimate two friendly Eastern European gents (Mark and Vadim) in Masters of Assembly shirts were waiting out front of the sellers's apartment before the scheduled time. We went up to the apartment where they efficiently measured and inspected the wardrobe. Once they were done we went our separate ways and by the time I got home I found a very reasonable estimate in my inbox. As a result I decided to buy the wardrobe and schedule their services. Two days later the move (which was summarized by an hourly estimate sent by the company) began and I started receiving text updates from my wife outlining their progress. Despite starting a bit late due to traffic, things were progressing well until I got a panicked text from my wife saying that they were now at our building and the doors to the wardrobe were too big for our elevator! Now I was nervous and went home to see what the situation was. When I arrived Mark and Vadim updated me on the problem and let me know that our only option would be to go up the stairs (another 5 flights) but they were not sure that the doors (which are large sheets of tempered glass) could fit. Now here is one key area where this team stands out. Those doors did NOT fit in my munchkin sized stairwell... But somehow, over what was probably an hour of careful and strenuous manipulation, they made them fit! To give you an idea of how tight the fit was, when we came to a slight anomaly in the dimensions of the stairwell on the third floor (an electrical conduit slightly protruding from the sheet rock), it seemed again like they would not be able to get the doors any further. But true to form, they took a minute to analyze the situation, discussed their strategy and pulled another miracle. The whole process was also very upbeat considering our dilemma and they found plenty of opportunities to laugh and joke with each other along the way. I am sure you realize what a headache it would have been for me if they were not able to pull this off but at no point did I feel like I would be left abandoned or that they would leave any possibilities untested. These guys committed to something, ran into some huge challenges that looked on initial inspection as impossible and persevered through them without once trying to dump the problems in my lap. In addition, when it came time to write up the invoice they stuck to their originally agreed to price that was set before we discovered the problem with the doors fitting into my building. Needless to say, the actual installation was a piece of cake for guys this smart. The wardrobe is sitting beautifully in an apartment that any reasonable person would say is just too small for it, we are happy that our stuff has a home and our IKEA dressers are on their way out the door. The company is accommodating and flexible, the installers are good workers and are good at what they do. They did a very tough job for me over 2 days - disassembling the insides of 3 custom closets and then reassembling them from pieces I didn't buy based only on a screenshot of how they were supposed to be set up. Or to say it another way, they took 500lb of random unlabeled boxes in my new home and turned them into 3 huge custom built closets with no instructions available or provided. Very impressive. Fair prices, good customer service. Only gripe is they aren't always on-time, especially for early morning jobs. But they are upfront about that, they prefer to start work after 10am. read more

OMG - after day 6 of waiting for Ikea "next day" delivery, I cancelled my order and went looking for alternatives. Master of Assembly said "yes, absolutely, we can deliver you an entire kitchen full of cabinets tomorrow". AND THEY DID!! They gave me a 1 hour window, and when they were very slightly late, they texted me telling me that they were 15 minutes away. (Ikea tells you they are coming sometime between 8 AM and 10PM, until the day before when the give you a 4 hr window, until the day of, when they never bother to tell you that they aren't planning on showing up.) I'd actually like to give 4.5 or 4.75 but it's not available. I have used this company several times to assemble boxed furniture and to hang artwork in my apartment. They are very reliable and they are amazing in their ability to assemble things quickly. I once had to leave them alone and there were no integrity issues. If you are unsure of their rates, please understand that they will do their work more quickly than you would ever imagine. Their rates are reasonable. The only issue I have is, they sent me a worker several times who does not speak English. I am trilingual (English, French and Spanish) and he doesn't speak any of my languages, I think he speaks Russian or another Eastern European language. When he is with a co worker, which is the usual pattern, he is brilliant at following instructions and quick assemblies. Otherwise, we had some issues, had to call the company for interpretation, and so forth. I don't think it's reasonable for them to send him out alone, so I suggest you let them know if you are hiring them, they need to send at least one worker who speaks English well. That is why I would downgrade them slightly. Apart from that, I am a great fan. read more
