G. Fried has become my go-to place tor carpeting and hardwood floors. This spring I was looking for a reliable, high quality shop for some home renovation; and their website and reviews drew me in. And my experience has been that they truly are a family company that treats the customer as part of the family with professionalism and excellence from the beginning of my project to the end. I had selected the carpet wanted at another shop that gave me very little confidence. I called G. Fried and gave them the brand name and design name of the carpet I wanted; and they immediately identified it in their warehouse. Sam came out to my home within a few days. He not only measured each of the rooms (master bedroom and 2 upstairs guest bedrooms in my townhouse) and closets in them, and the staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms in mv townnouse, but he a so made a detailed drawing. This gave me, and ultimately the installers, a really detailed and precise roadmap for the project. He was professional and thorough and friendly courteous, and easily answered all of my questions and put me at ease. I felt so confident. The staircase will not be carpeted until next year when renovate the spindles on it. However, Sam and I decided that we should order all of the carpeting now so that we would have the same dye lot. G. Fried is carefully and securely storing next year's carpet in their warehouse. I also had them take an area rug, an heirloom, to their shop to have it cleaned and stored for next year when I put hardwood flooring in the living room and dining room and place the area rug in the living room. The installers were so professional, following the diagram roadmap that Sam had created. They carefully moved my furniture as they installed the carpet in each room and replaced everything to Its former position. These men really excelled at the installation; and it was a pleasure to have them in my home. They even lent me rug samples for a few days so I could take them home to see it in my home. Lighting changes rug/carpet color significantly? Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I ordered a striped carpet for my tricky staircase and hallway. The in store drainer helped me pick out the perfect carpet based on my taste and budget. Someone came out within a few days to measure and quote the price and three weeks later it was installed. Roy was the installer and he did an amazing job! It took him two days, to do the install. Each piece had to be cut individually, sewn at the edge and wrapped around my spindles, from the first floor to the third floor. The stripes are perfectly matched on each step. Roy was amazing. I can't say enough about how happy we are with our new carpet. I would hands down use this company again. read more

I work in NJ but live in a prewar UWS coop in NYC. My designer selected a (fairly pricey) broadloom to be made into a custom-cut (octagonal) shape. I had the rug made by G Fried who then delivered/"installed" it for me. This was an amazingly good experience - I would use them again in a heartbeat. The owner knew of the carpet by name as I walked in the door, read the designer's drawing, priced the cut rug fairly (delivery cost was comparable to the prices I got in the City from NYC based stores), had it ready to be delivered quickly and then had his guys deliver and "install" on the day and time they promised. I even needed an insurance certificate for my building...no problem. Bottom line: the rug is beautiful, cut exactly as specified by designer, and the process was pain-free for me. Even if i did not work in NJ, it would be worth it for me to take the ride. read more

The actual Installation was good although there were some miscommunications between the installing crew and the main office. Hence they had to come back and finish things off. Dealt with owner Sam who did the measurements and estimates. He left my house and I called a few hours later having to cancel the job due to personal reasons but was told the carpet was already in the truck so they can't do anything about it. They said hence it should come early. Since we didn't have a choice, waited for the installation. However it took passed the original length of time so I placed a call - they called me back telling me it's there so would like to schedule an installation date. Prior to this, I did email the salesperson several times with questions, but no response. I also saw that I have up to 36 hours to cancel after measurements so brought this up with them too but no response. After complaining a few times, all I got was we hope you enjoy the rug... I have used them in the past for runners for stairs as well as deep cleaning for tiles as well so was hoping to get better service. Was simply disappointed. Hope their customer service improves. Wouldn't be using them in the future. read more

I had previously used G. Fried to clean my rugs. I had an estimate for my tile floors to be cleaned. I was given an estimate and after telling the company that they sent me a discount card, the estimate was increased by the same percentage I was told I could take off from the promotional card. I am not sure why they would send me a card and then not use it. Further, the woman that answers the phone didn't even give me the right estimate, she increased it by one hundred dollars and then added 30% to that total. Needless to say, I will never do business with this company again. There are plenty of reputable carpet/hardwood floor cleaners in Bergen County for me to even bother with G. Fried. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! My experience with this store was a nightmare. The "customer service" was horrendous and appalling. The owners of this establishment have no regard for customers and think they are entitled to insult customers when they decide not to purchase carpet from them. I went to this store (biggest mistake) and was given a quote for Karastan carpet and was told that a certain cheap flimsy padding was the ONLY option for this carpet. I went to another carpet store in the same town and was not only quoted a lower price for the same exact carpet, but was told that this brand of carpet ONLY uses the highest quality padding and that a flimsy cheap substitution is wrong. The brand of carpet, Karastan, ONLY uses Karastan padding. When I was offered the brand's higher quality padding (which is the only kind to be used with this carpet) with a cheaper quote, I returned to G Fried where I originally placed an order. I explained to the owners that I would not cancel my order with them if they can give me the SAME high quality padding that the other store had offered with their discounted quote. When I was told no, I asked for a refund and that was when I experienced the most appalling horrific verbal assault. I was attacked by the owners and sales people all because I wanted a refund. The "woman" owner came from the back of the store and began yelling at me and insulting me telling me that "she didn't like me the second I entered the store and that i looked dishonest" and continued to insult my physical appearance. I have never been so upset or terrified and never experienced this ill treatment from anyone, let alone, a people in the customer service business!!!!! These people are savages, rude and disgusting in their treatment of me, and I am sure I am not the only one. While this was happening, a sales representative from a carpet manufacturer was present and immediately packed up her samples and left the store in disgust. G FRIED CARPET is the worst store ever !!! STAY AWAY! DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE OTHER REVIEWS POSTED!!!!! I AM GOING TO CONTACT KARASTAN CARPET MANUFACTURER AND NOTIFY THEM AS TO HOW THIS VENDOR IS MISREPRESENTING THEIR PRODUCT. read more
