Sadly, I have to revise my review. whenever there's any kind of storm, you can count on your service going out. Recently decided to go to streaming and cancel my Dish service. To date, I have had to call 4 times to cancel. Their maneuvering to keep customers is appalling. I keep receiving bills even though I call to confirm the cancellation of my account. DISH doesn't deserve any stars! They are the worst to deal with! After being a customer for more than 10 years, we no longer needed the service so we called to cancel. The account was paid in full and up to date. The first call frustrated my husband so badly he just gave up and hung up. We called back again this time prepaired to stay on as long as needed to get the service canceled. THE CALL LASTED ALMOST 3 HOURS AND THEY STILL WOULDNT CANCEL!!!! We received annother bill so we wrote on it that we called to cancel and didn't owe anything. After 2 months we got another bill deducting one month. Then we received an email with return labels for the equipment. Now they have turned the account over to a collection agency for the month after we called to cancel. We are disputing! read more

If you want to watch a show and record another one...FORGET IT! You can only do one or the other. What's the use of having it?? I have to record on ONE TV, and we can watch a different show on the other one. Should have kept with Direct TV!!!! If you try to fast forward through a recorded program, you may shut the whole process down if you go to fast. Same with scrolling through the guide. We still haven't figured out how to delete a show without having to fast forward through the whole thing. Pitiful! Spare yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

I had been with DirecTV for 7 years and hated having to hassle with them every year to lower my bill to a price I was willing to pay. It was the same thing every year, call them up and tell them that my bill was too high and then they would enact some discounts that would save me about $30 a month but were only good for a year. So the next year I'd have to call them up and do it all over again. Well last November when I called to complain about my bill they refused to lower the rate. I guess that now they're a part of AT&T they are unwilling to negotiate on price. So I decided to try switching to DISH. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! DISH suckers you in with their low initial rate but then once you add in extra packages to get what you want it ends up costing MUCH more. I believe their current introductory package starts off at $39. Sounds pretty good right? But wait, you want local channels? Well that's not included. You have to pay an extra $10 a month for that. Who the hell doesn't want local channels?!?! You want a DVR? That's extra also. You have 2 TV's? Yep there's an extra charge for that too. So my monthly bill ended up being $70 a month. That's quite a jump from $39 but still better than I was getting with DirecTV so I decided to go for it. The phone operator told me about the 2 year contract and I told him, "Hey wait a minute. I'm not signing up for 2 years when I haven't even tried your service out yet." I forget what he told me exactly but he definitely gave me the impression that I could cancel if I didn't like the service. When the DISH installer came out to set up my equipment I also asked him about a trial period and he told me I had 30 days to cancel. So everything was going OK until the day of the Super Bowl. We missed the end of the game so I tried to find highlights on ESPN only to find out the package I had did not include ESPN!!!! I called up DISH and was told, "If you want sports channels, that's an extra $10 a month." Gimme a break. What a scam! So now I'd have to pay $80 a month for pretty much basic cable. No pay channels like HBO. I just wanted the standard stuff like Food Network, HGTV, ESPN. So the next higher package was $84 a month and included ESPN but took away DIY and Cooking Channel!!!!! How frickin lame!!! So now I wasn't saving money over DirecTV anymore and decided to cancel the service. I had DISH send out the installer to remove their DISH and take their boxes back. To top it all off now they're trying to charge me a $500 early termination fee even though 2 people at their company told me their was a trial period!! I have filed a complaint with the Denver Better Business Buereau and I will be taking DISH to small claims court if they refuse the waive the fee. Stay far away from this company people. Their channel packages are completely predatory and set up so that the only way you can get the channels you want is to pay for the expensive plans. read more

Had an account with Dish and qualified for a gift card for signing up as was the agreement. After several months of service and qualifying and ordering the gift card my health caused me to move into assisted living and cancel my account. Dish will not send me my gift card to the new address because the account is closed. Even though I qualified and ordered the giftcard. If I could give Dish a fat zero stars for a review I would! read more

I've been a loyal customer for 10 years. I recently cancelled my service due to constant outages and lack of customer service. They told me to ship my equipment back in a box. I spent all day setting up the box...removing equipment myself...talking to them on the phone for instruction. Then 12 hours later I get an email saying I'm being billed 399 dollars due to a lack of returning the equipment. Do not use this service!!!! Terrible!!! read more

We have been Dish customers for 17 years and we're very happy, not anymore. I was on hold for 17- 51 minutes first off just to get through. We made a change to our service and they were supposed to take off the changes. Well they didn't. They continue to charge us for local channels and Showtime for several months before I realized this. When I called them they said too bad. And of course they couldn't find it in the records. We spoke to supervisor and he was of no help. We finally just cut the cord and now will just be using local channels and using our smart TV. They have gone down in their customer service. Terrible company, terrible customer service. read more

I had Dish Network for about 9 years. Recently my receiver went bad and needed to be replaced and I had to work with their customer service department to get it replaced. Two weeks later I am still waiting to receive my receiver and have learned in the process that Dishes "World Class Service" is a big old joke. The information provided from agent to agent is inconsistent, they mistake "I'm sorry " as a form of good customer service, and then are quick to inform you of the costs of services that they will wave for you for the service that you currently don't have. I even had an agent try to up sell me during the process when I had no television service to watch. It wasn't until two weeks and five botched attempts that they offered to send a tech to my home to resolve the issue. Again I was informed about the costs I was going to be waved for their failures and lack of service. Since I'm frustrated and without service and astonished at how bad their customer service is I decide to cancel my service as a 9 year customer. I was quickly validated in the decision as they made a point to but me on hold to make sure they shut off my service....hello there is no service to watch...and then proceed to list all of the fees they would wave for their inability to provide service and that they were not going to charge me to leave their Dish on top of my house. It will take up to 36 days for them to send a box to retrieve my 9 year old remotes and server that don't work. I find that humorous since in the emails I received when they attempted to send a workable receiver informed me to discard my broken one and to not attempt to sell it to anyone else. I already paid for service but I will not be refunded for the time they were unable to provide service because of all the waved fees and credits I received for a service they did not provide. I would describe their "World Class" as a typo as it should be "World Ass" service. Epic fail and they will break down the cost for you. read more

I am going to mark 0 star if I can have the choice. I shopped for cable service in February 2013, and a salesman from DISH called me and quoted my a price, but he never mentioned it was a TWO YEAR CONTRACT. I asked how much is the termination fee, he said "it is merely $20." When the mechanic came in, he asked me to sign something and said this is for "I didn't break anything in your apartment." I nicely signed it, and after I signed it, he told me the service is a 2 year contract. I and my boyfriend called their customer service immediately, at at time they told me it is a 2 year contract, and the termination fee is $20 for the rest of the term, which could be more than $400. I immediately explained the salesman and mechanism's misrepresentation, and they told me they will try to solve it. Meanwhile, from Feb. to now, I have been expecting their boxes so I can ship the equipments back, but never received that. The same night, I called the customer service again, and the representative terminated the contract without ask my permission, and also said I will be charged for $99 activation fee. I dispute this penalty because I think the document I signed was invalid because of a misrepresentation and a lie, I never wanted the account, therefore I should not be charged with the activation fee. I called them several times, online chat with them, and set multiple emails through their web side, and here is the result: for the calls, I never get any meaningful reply. For the online chat, they told me they will note this account as "unauthorized charges." For emails, no response. At the sometime, I called my bank (major bank in US) and explained this situation to them. Their fraud investigation team determined it is a fraud, and declined DISH's charge on my card. The charge include $99 activation fee, and amount $45 for services fee (As I stated above, I never had a minute of service, I refuse the contract as soon as I know the term, and made multiple calls to let them know that I refuse the service.) While the amount is still in dispute, DISH send that amount to debt collection company. I have to pay the whatever amount in full, including the whole amount that my bank think it is a fraud, because their action is threaten my credit report. So this is my experience, I never had a minute of service, and was fraud into a contract that I thought "the mechanic didn't break anything", and spent a long time frustrated talking with their customer service, online chatting, writing emails trying to work with them. I recently signed up for dish satellite service. Before I switched over to Dish I had internet, phone, and TV with charter. Before I switched over to Dish, I was guaranteed that I would be able to get the same services but at a cheaper price. The representative even gave me an account number for Whisper and assured me that their services were in my area. I did the switch and found out that the representative lied in order to get my business. So, right now I'm without phone and internet services and I've been struggling to find a company that is in my area. The dish representative lied and she was very misleading. read more

Consistently use junker receivers and takes 3 to 4 days for replacement Undercompensate for faulty products Hammer satellites through clay sewer pipes (knowingly so) Save non-account holders credit card info for future uses (termination, late payments and fees, etc) This is the absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with, and I am not even an accountholder! My boyfriend took on the responsibility of having the Dish at our house. The account was in his name, and ONLY his name. First off, while we had the Dish, we had to get it replaced THREE times because their receivers are junk.. Therefore, we always had to pay for insurance because because they always broke. This replacement takes 3 days to get there. It sucks not having a single tv in the house (like during baseball season) and the only way they try to *compensate* is to offer more products at a *discounted* rate. After having to replace the receiver the 3rd time, extra products was not an option. All I wanted was to terminate the contract and go with a more reliable company, but I imagine their horrible service is why the termination fee is so hefty. I dealt with the issues, and eventually my boyfriend and I split and he moved out. Left the box (which I returned). A couple months later there was a $140 termination fee on my credit card (they saved the info when I made a payment a year prior). I called them to dispute this and they refused to fix it because "the contract" that was in HIS name, stated that they could save credit numbers and use them when necessary. You know, that 1000-something page contract that you don't see when you sign for the installation. So, not only did I have to pay $140 for the termination fee for someone elses account, but I also had to fight with my sewer system for 2 weeks before finding out that the installer had stuck the receiver in the middle of my CLAY sewer line in the backyard (the area was marked, the pipe is over 6" in diameter, the man knew). So, even when I thought I was done fighting the neverending battle with the worst company ever, a collection agency calls my ex and tries to collect the same termination fee that they charged by credit card.. and told him they reversed the transaction. They didn't. So before you think about going with the Dish Network, please reconsider because it will be a huge headache the entire time you have them, and possibly even after you finally get rid of them. and also, don't try contacting them after the account is closed. They will send you to an automated system and you can't get past the "account or phone number" info. read more

Dish as a company has failed on all accounts. Because of their in ability to come to terms with Fox our business has lost thousands in revenue because we are a sports bar. We missed the All Star game, US Open, and other sporting events because of this. Their answer to this problem is to send one antenna and give me $10 a month off for the next 10 months. Their slogan says World Class customer service. I would like to know who is receiving that and who gave them that distinction?
