I agree with another Yelper comments about what Discount Tire use to be. Discount Tire as a whole is just less of company. I worked at store #1 as a teenager back in the good old days! In those early years they had real customer focused sales guys that went above and beyond to make a sale or to help a customer out. I remember customers pulling up after closing time and the sales guy would pull them in to get all 4 new tires. Made me upset at the time cause I wanted to go home, but at the same time I was happy to work for a company that promoted that kind of service. Those days are gone. What prompted my review, and mantra, is I went into the Discount off 114 in Grapevine. The sales guy was nice but really seemed distracted. He literally walked around the parking lot like he was lost. Then circled my car three times studying my tires. Then took his time as he walked through the garage bay looking at stuff. Meanwhile I am of course watching all this wondering what is this guy doing. When he did final walk back in the show room he announced my flat could not be fixed cause my tread was too low. He proceeded to tell me all my tires where needing replacing 2/32 and 3/32. I marvel that the tire manufacturers do not replace tires under the mileage warranty that are not below 3/32 but Discount Tire sales guys say they can't repair the same tire citing safety concerns. Needless to say I thanked him for his comments and left. I drove to CostCo got a happy greeting with a quick evaluation of my tires. Shocker they were 2/32 on the front and 4/32 on the rear. I ended up purchasing 4 new Michelin tires from Costco. read more

This location is 10 minutes away from my work. I ended up having to work late and could not pick up my truck before they closed, so I called and let them know to lock my keys on my truck (because I have the keyless entry code). Once I got off work, I took an Uber uber to pick up my truck, only to find out that they did not leave my keys in the truck as they said they would. I ended up being stranded and was forced to Uber home 30 minutes and I'll have to Uber another 30 minutes back up here to pick it up in the morning. Worst experience with Discount Tire ever. read more

WOMEN BEWARE! Brought my truck in to (Grapevine on SH114) fix a tire with a nail in it and tire rotation and balance. The tech showed me the nail, said he would have to replace the tire since the nail was in an area of the tire that can not be repaired. I okayed the work. He came to check me out after work was finished, and told me that the tires that I had purchased from Discount Tire 2 years earlier were discontinued, so he put on a comparable tire. Without notifying me before he did it. I decided to be okay with that, and was on my way. Driving home from the store, I noticed that my truck was shimmying. I drove it through the weekend and thought it might resolve itself. But it did not. I started to research tires online, and why it might be shimmying. I found that it is not advisable to mix brands of tires, but I had no choice, since the tires I had were discontinued. Then I read that it is advisable to put the different tire on the rear. It even advises on their own DISCOUNT TIRE STORE RECEIPT, that it is advisable to put the different tire in the rear. When I check the placement of the tire, I found that they had put it on the front right. I went back to the store to speak with the manager about my issues, and what I had researched online. He listened to my concerns then proceeded to tell me a lot of mumbo jumbo double talk, about how the placement of the tire is really of no concern any longer, that it was antiquated information. I did extensive research, and all the different online sites said, that it is not advisable to put a different brand of tire on the front. There was more misinformation that I was given about tires in general, that I came away from the store more disgusted than when I went in. The manager Joey, was kind enought to offer to replace the other tire in the front to match the new one they had replaced my flat tire with. I felt this was a satisfactory solution. And was shortly on my way. On the way home there was no shimmy. I suppose this solution will do until I buy new tires. Needless to say I will not be returning to that store for my next set of tires. And I will be sharing this experience with my family and friends who recommended this store to me. read more

I went here to get my back tire plugged because I had a nail in it. The guy came back in and asked if I wanted to go ahead and get a rotation and I said NO. Once I left I noticed a noise when I started to accelerate and it felt different while driving so I pulled over and called to ask if he rotated my tires after I asked him not to. He then tells me that he in fact did rotate the tires and left it on my ticket. So I go back and ask for them to be rotated back. The reason I didn't want a rotation is because now BOTH of my back tires have been plugged/ patched and my car is front wheel drive so I didn't want to risk having a blowout and messing up my alignment. I was wanting to just let the front wheels wear down over the next few months and then eventually I would purchase new tires for the front because even though my back tires were plugged they still have a good amount of tread on them. So after leaving the SECOND TIME, I get down the road and the light comes on for my tire pressure. This time it's the tire on the passenger side. They won't even put a tire back on that has a nail in the side due to liability reasons so it doesn't make sense for them to complete a service that I specifically asked them not to do. We made an appointment to buy four new tires four days in advance. We were told they were in stock and also received a text that they were in stock. Appointment was at 9:00am and service tech said it would be about 45 minutes for them to put on the new tires. Great! Well 9:38 they tell me they don't have the tires in stock and have to go to another store to get them. So now my 45 minute wait has turned into close to two hours. They made me miss my mother's speech therapy appt. She is recovering from a stroke in rehab. DON'T TRUST THEM WHEN THEY SAY THEY HAVE THE TIRES IN STOCK!!!! Very frustrating!!!! If you have a car with nice rims, avoid this place. I reluctantly purchased a set of Michelin tires for one of my cars. I was reluctant because of the rims that the tires ride on are quite expensive. They assured me they would put their best person on it. Low and behold they pulled the car up front and the front right wheel had a large glaring scratch on it. These wheels were pristine when I brought them in. The salesperson went on to explain how there was no way they could have made the scratch. And sent me on my way. The sad part is, I've bought tires here for several years. I will never purchase tires from this location again. Buyer beware. Looking to update wheels and tires on my SUV. Looked online and while prices looked cheaper, at the end Discount Tire had them beat. Ordered wheels/tires via phone after talking with Mitch who was very efficient and had outstanding communication/follow up on things. Placed a deposit and met the manager (Joey) who confirmed that tires were available and wheels would arrive in a few days. Order placed on Monday, arrived Thursday, and called by Mitch who got everything prepped/ready to go. Great attention to details and asked if I wanted to change out the TPMS sensor since the color would be different from the wheels. He was able to help offset cost a bit. They had wheels/tires mounted and I was back on the road within 40 minutes upon driving into their lot. Highly recommend this hard working and efficient team. I really like this location of DT, but they put me in a set of Bridgestone Turanza's on October 30, 2020. I got a nail 2 days ago, DT told me it couldn't be repaired because there wasn't enough tread left. WTF? a $ 2000.00 / 6 month set of tires, I never even did a single burn out??? Discount Tire is a great company and I've had great service at nearly every location except for this one. I swore I'd never come back to this particular store after the lst experience 3 yrs ago, so I thought things might have changed. I've lived in SL for 8 yrs and have limited my visits to this location to 6 or 7 time, and preferred the NRH and other locations. During my visits, I've had the wrong tires, incorrect sizes and un-matching tires installed at different visits. This last time, I left with my car vibrating like crazy only to learn that the front tires were way over inflated...1 q Was 9 lbs and the other 5lbs over. This was AFTER two new tires were installed on the rear axle and the fronts checked. Additionally, it was the manager himself that tried to over charge me by $200+, forgetting that the rears were still under warranty and prorated. If not prior, certainly now this will be the last work they do for me. read more

I was at Discount Tire in Grapevine, Texas at the Hwy 114 location on August 23, 2023 for what I thought was a slow leak on one of my tires. I was waited on by a young lady whom I explained that I had a rear tire on my F-250 that I thought had a small leak and that I needed it looked at and subsequently patched so she turned it over to the technicians to look it over. A while later she came up to where I was sitting in the sales room and said that the tire was beyond repair because it had an existing patch where the leak was and that they were unable to patch it again so I then asked her to swap my spare onto the stock rim of the bad tire leaving me without a spare for my trip home which was a five hour drive. I paid for the swap and left thinking that I needed a spare for my trip back to West Texas so I went to a tire shop In Lewisville, Texas and asked the gentleman there to see if the tire was repairable and he said that he would. After a while of checking for a leak he notified me that there was no sign of a leak on the tire or on the bead. This is not the first time with this kind of experience with Discount Tire who i have come to a conclusion that they are not in the tire repair business but will definitely sell you a new one or a complete set. That was my last time giving Discount Tire my business. Do Better! read more

Long time Discount Tire customer and have used this Grapevine store many times and had decent results. However, this store has always been difficult to work with over neighboring locations. Unfortunately you cannot always schedule an appt when your headed out of town and you get a nail in your tire. I was promised less than an hour to be back on the road. Stopped by this location yesterday to have them look at my tire's because the sensors on my car were telling me one of the tire's PSI was low. I have to bump them up to a five!!! Since they don't hard sell you, they don't just try to sell you tires if you don't need them. I went back today to see how my remaining tires were doing and they recommended that I buy one more and that the other two still had some life in them. I ended up financing the tires, so they allowed me to return the tire I bought on Saturday and paid cash for, and they let me "re-buy" it for six months no interest financing. I went in almost at closing time and no one acted rude or put out that they had to stay late. These guys are awesome!! read more

Okay, somewhere along the line someone must have placed a curse on me that causes me to have an inordinate amount of issues with tires. So I thought I knew all about Discount Tires, for better or worse, because they have had the pleasure of my business many times over the years. But I had never come to the Grapevine location. When I got a flat on Thursday, I saved even attempting to repair it for Saturday thinking it would be a long, drawn out issue and I would want my husband to take me home instead of sitting and waiting for hours. I was also crying into my wallet because I wanted to spend my money on fun things this weekend, not a new tire. We arrived, they had my car in the garage in less than 5 minutes (despite it being relatively busy - when we pulled up I was even more convinced that I had hours of waiting to do) and in under 20 minutes that handed me a bill for $0.00. That's right, it was FREE. They fixed my tire (which had a giant nail in it), didn't charge me a damn thing, and had me out the door in under 20 minutes. It was magical. I still don't fully believe it. When I questioned the $0.00 bill they said, "Yeah, we fix flats for free. So if you ever know anyone with a flat, send them to us." These guys were all great! The two gentleman that helped me were Sergio and Eusung (sp?) The ONLY thing that was an issue was how backed up they were. I don't know how they can help that, as my car unexpectedly had a flat. The staff was quick to come out and take stock of what the problem was. My tire was not only fixed, but (hopefully) cured the issue for good (slow leak due to a buildup of something). It cost me nothing, as I purchased my tires through discount tire. Well, a few days later my tire pressure light when on so I went to go fill them and found my front driver wheel torn and frayed with metal exposed. Wow, what a shockingly great experience! They close at 6PM & I arrived a few minutes after and was so disappointed that I'd not made it in time as I was needing to take an immediate road trip to get to my father who is in the hospital. Mathew immediately calmed my frayed nerves, gave me water, sat me down & before I knew it my tire was perfect in a matter of minutes. Every technician there had an extremely professional & calming demeanors. They were playing soul encouraging music in the lobby which I loved. They can have your rims dipped if you scuff them too (pretty cheaply as well). They'll suggest different tires to save you money, then order them for same or next day delivery.
