Steve is always very helpful and the store usually has whatever I need in stock, which is amazing, seeing as how it's not a huge shop. Chris is quite helpful too. I miss the kitty. He was the most helpful of all. read more

I can't recommend Discount Pool Supply enough! After my regular pool guy lost the rubber gasket and tried to "fix" the leak with caulk, I was bracing for a costly pump replacement--another company quoted me thousands of dollars to swap out the entire unit. Instead, I called Discount Pool Supply based on their Yelp reviews and sent my wife in during my workday. Not only did the front‑counter expert source the exact gasket I needed on the spot, he also took the time to clean away the messy caulking left by the first pool guy. The service was fast, friendly, and affordable--exactly what I needed. I just have never experienced this level of customer service for anything - now I'm a die-hard fan of Discount Pool Supply ( who would have guessed?) They are legit! read more

They are not responding to my request for warranty service on a variable speed motor. Refused to give me the warranty information and get the AI information wrong when I try to make an appointment. read more

Steve is the best. Period. If you have an issue with your pool, go see him. I get the water tested about once a month, and have had his guys come out for filter cleanings and repairs. He is always kind, patient, and helpful. read more

Great support and knowledgeable staff. It's my go to location since I decided to do my pool maintenance myself.

Worst pool service in town! They wanted to charge me for NOT cleaning my pool! While their guy would come and sit beside the pool and played with his phone! When this happened A FEW TIMES IN A ROW I confronted the management with it and asked to send someone else, they promised to fix the situation but then proceeded to send the same person again! who again did not do his job. The pool looked worse than when they started so I cancelled their service. Do Not Use Them! read more

Discount Pool was great all the years Brian owned it. Steve the now manager is awesome. But the new owners, wow....I needed a mechanical seal replaced, parts cost $20, technician(who was very good and efficient and new what he was doing) was there for 1 hour. I was charged $320. That's $300 an hour. Quite exorbitant wouldn't you say? This service in most cases is $75-$150 an hour. Wont be using these guys anymore. read more

Steve in the Clairemont store(92117) is very helpful and knowledgeable. He not only has replaced parts on my pool cleaner but helped me with various questions and suggestions since my husband's work injury and subsequent blindness. Steve is very kind and compassionate. He is willing to help anyone and gives "budget-friendly" advice - which is helpful to those of us on Social Security. Wonderful man! Will keep me coming to his store even though it's not the closest pool store to me! read more

We reached out to Discount Pool Supply from one of their Facebook ads regarding a pool heater installation. We were contacted almost immediately to schedule the meeting so we felt confident in their response along with seeing high reviews. A man came to our house at the scheduled time and could not care less about the appointment, took no measurements, and told us "why don't you just get a pool cover". We informed him that was not an option due to our dogs and wanted to have year round heating. He passively said we would receive a quote and potential options but no quote has been received. The best part is the company sent a text asking if we still needed their services.... YOU NEVER DID YOUR JOB! This company is so quick to jump on a lead but does not follow through for potential clients. read more

These guys are great. Always given knowledgeable advice -- not just trying to sell a product.

These guys are awesome! Steve ( owner) is super knowledgeable on everything pools. Love our local shop.

Unlike other Pool supply stores that I've been to Discount Pool Supply provided me with some no nonsense advice and products to keep my spa clean and functioning. Well highly recommend.! read more

Brought in a pool skimmer that was not working. They fixed it on the spot! Walked me through the process and gave me honest straight answers. EXCELLENT customer service. read more

They provide solid storefront service and will make sure you are taken care of. Steve gives some of the BEST customer service I've ever had.

I've been a customer of San Dieguito Pool Services for over three years and just learned that it and Discount Pool Supplies are now the same company. Scheduling a diagnostic service visit was easy, and Gavin came out this morning in the time slot promised. He is a great guy, knowledgeable and thorough. This is the second time he has made a service call with us, and I was glad to see him. He answered all of my questions and provided recommendations for me. Great service call. read more

If I could go lower than one star, I would. I have a salt water pool. When DPS took over the weekly service pool maintenance, the pool was in great shape. After a few months, I come home to a chlorine dispensing floatation device in the pool. I have a salt water pool, which makes its own chlorine. The salt level was 6000ppm (proper level is 3000-3500 for the Jandy equipment). The chlorine level was zero, and algae was growing in many areas. As you probably know, the only way to lower the salt level is to drain water and replace with fresh water, Which I did. This happened during the drought. My water bill for that month was about $1,000. I purchased a new chlorine cell, which fixed that problem. They didn't ruin the cell, but didn't tell me it wasn't working. The 6000ppm salt level certainly shortened the cell's life. I also bought the chemicals and did what was necessary to get rid of the algae. Called to fire them. The person answering the phone asked why. I told him and he said "okay" then hung up. No offer to make it right. With this type of service company, they're only as good as the service tech they send to your house. The fact that they had no concern regarding the damage they caused speaks volumes toward their level of commitment. If you use them, I hope you have better luck than me. read more

This place is so much better then other chain pool supply stores. Staff is always friendly and help you willingly to carry heavy items to your car. Test your water for free too. Been using them for years and will continue to do so even though it's a drive but worth it. read more

Excellent pool supply store with very helpful staff. Carries quality products. Steve has helped us multiple times and is very forthcoming with advice and also very honest about what is needed, never tries to upsell (I've been coming here for two years). They do water testing and have great liquid chlorine as well. Great local business to support! read more

Super helpful. I have been going here for years, they are always friendly and helpful, but this time even more so as I tried to explain what was wrong with the pool filter. I walked away with some skills to go try to fix it myself and had a spare part to boot! Thank you for the great service! read more

Unfortunately inherited this company for my pool in La Jolla upon purchase of the new home. After two months of "service" I have a disgusting pool filter (the giant Pentaire one), my vacuum crawwls along, my pool is green, there is no chlorine or conditioner in my pool (verified by a tech, not me). The tech was supposed to follow up with instruction for me (as the owner) on how to adjust (and label) the valves for my pool and never did. In fact, never had any sort of introduction or hand-off meeting which might make sense since I've never owned a pool in my life. My kids spent some time in the hot tub on a hot winter day a weekend ago, and then my son has rashes all over his body (no clue if it's related but the timing sure is strange). Monday was a storm here and nobody came out, but now it's Thursday and still no word, no message, no communication. Yelp says a 2 star rating is "Couldn't been better" so while this might be a harsh rating, it's true to the guidelines. Maybe I'm a one-off, but not sure what all the positive reviews are all about, I am utterly confused. Just my $.02 (Dana's husband Steve) read more

Update to the prior review. I was able to get a corrected bill via phone. An agreement was made on how much I owed and I authorized a credit card charge. The staff ignored that and just went ahead and over charged me well over what was agreed and then claimed it was "automatic" (lie) and that they would refund the overcharges. It has been over a month and no refund has been made. This is outright fraud at this point. I would strongly urge you to avoid doing business with this company. read more

this is my "go to place" for anything i need for my pool. steve the manager is awesome! troubleshoots any problems i have with my pool. he is so knowledgeable about pool, water problems, and equipment trouble. steve has worked on pools for over 30 years and is my resource for anything. there is no upsell at discount like other local pool stores. how anyone can give discount pool supply a low rating is crazy. read more

Brian got my who-knows-how-old Hayward Voyager pool sweep working again after we bought our home with a pool. By replacing a few parts the sweep is working as good as new! Better than having to buy a new one, for sure! Highly recommend this place - they know their stuff! read more

*RESPECT* This is the absolute epitome of a successful local business! 3 reasons why: 1) Brian knows his shit. * dude is a walking encyclopedia of all things pool, pump and heater. 2) Brian's got his shit together. * he was able to get a rather obscure Hayward pool part within 12 hours and had it ready for me at a store for pick up by 8 AM the next morning 3) Most critically, Brian is a super helpful, friendly and selfless resource to have in the community * he for sure saved me a few hundred dollars in his willingness to answer some of my more technical questions so that I was able to make this fix by myself saving the time and the money of hiring it out. Thank you DPS read more

I didn't remember the person helping me but from the phone call then in store help, he deserves 5 stars! Knows his stuff, friendly, and professional. I'll definitely be back for pool related supplies! I'm down grading 1 star because they were closed last Sun even though they were showing as open from 11am - 2pm. I arrived around 11:30. Didn't see a sign due to Labor Day Weekend. Wasted a trip. Grrr. read more

Worked with Kyle who was there in on Saturday, really nice guy and super knowledgeable, highly recommend.

I have now been there for a variety of reasons about 7 times. The last time was incredible. Steve was absolutely amazing and provided the most professional and helpful service. I had a pool cleaner that wasn't working and this guy treated me like I was his brother to provide the best service in identifying and taking apart the cleaner to identify and fix the problem. One of the best customer service experiences I have had. I really appreciated it and also found that he and everyone I have had contact there has provided the best level of service. A few years ago I had a problem with my water having too high a conditioner level. I worked with Leslie's pool supply for months, spent a ton of money on their products. Spent dozens of hours working on my pool trying to get it under control. I have lived in ckairemont since 1st grade and had never heard of discount pool supply until I was driving g by one day and decided to stop. I left this store with 8 gallons of chlorine and a new perspective on how to get rid of the murky over conditioned water that is in my pool. 6 days later my pool was literally crystal clear; it was amazing. What leslie's failed to do was have me keep the chlorine up and in fact one time said "you need to worry about the conditioner not the chlorine right now". Shame on Leslie's and bravo to discount pool, you have a customer for life! read more

Very helpful and knowledgeable!! If you need supplies or just advice, this is definitely the place to go.

Been going here for about 7 years now, Always friendly courteous service. I once walked in with my empty chlorine crate and he seen me walking with a slight limp, he asked If i was refilling and carried the full crate to my car. I thought that was above and beyond. Now that i know they service pools I might have to look into getting them to care for my pool :) read more
