Working with Modern Yardz was a great experience! From initial consultation/design to project completion, Jake (sales rep) and Frank (foreman) were excellent--professional, respectful, and responsive. While we were gathering quotes and designs, Jake was quick to provide a design and initial itemized estimate. His responsiveness and help to work within our budget put Modern Yardz ahead of the competitors. While our project was a straightforward backyard demo, re-landscaping, and hardscaping, it included hauling, installing a retaining wall, re-fencing the perimeter, installing artificial turf, pouring concrete, and redoing the drainage system. They were very flexible with our schedules, responsive to messages/calls, and attentive to details. While they subcontract out, communication was mostly seamless. The crew worked hard and quickly. If there was an issue, it was quickly resolved. We would have preferred getting materials options/prices earlier (e.g., turf, rocks, lighting, etc.) to better understand our project and options; and we could have asked more questions to confirm that we were all on the same page. For example, we weren't expecting a number of questions with the fencing subcontractor, which needed to be directly worked out with the Modern Yardz crew rather than us. There were a few unexpected costs--this was our first major project like this, so we definitely learned a lot through the process as well. Despite some of those minor issues, we still enjoyed working with them and appreciate their work. We would definitely consider them for future projects. read more

Modern Yardz saved us from a disaster. As first time new homebuyers, our community put a deadline on when we had to complete our landscaping. We were already house broke from buying the house, so we wanted to make sure we had the best deal possible but also had great work done. We'd never looked at landscapers before and there were so many terms, companies, and factors to consider. After looking through 10+ companies, we finally chose a company that wasn't Modern Yardz. As we were about to sign the docs, we heard that company had run out of money and was essentially scamming people. We had heard situations like that or major delays happen with multiple companies and were skeptical but that's when we stumbled upon Modern Yardz. What we loved is first, unlike some companies, they give you a complimentary 3D design before you start the project. Jake, the design/sales guy, was able to work with us to customize a design we wanted. Thomas the owner came by and gave us design suggestions, which was super helpful because we had no expertise in this area. Customer service from the owner down was top notch. We feel like we're all friends. When we got the quote, while it wasn't the cheapest, was a fair amount compared to other estimates we got - some of which were 2x more for similar work. Modern Yardz is a company that gives you Mercedes Benz grade quality, with a Toyota pricing. Very reasonable. When we heard that our project would only take 3 weeks, while hopeful, I was very doubtful. I heard horror stories of other companies taking 3-6 months to complete similar work! Right when they started, we could tell this team was organized. The foreman is always on the project. There were multiple people on the job always. They were prompt, quick, and professional. They worked the full hours from 6am to 6pm, and were communicative. They went above and beyond and even helped us with extra work with gardening. They weren't just fast, they were detail oriented. I had a friend come by that understood construction who remarked on how Modern Yardz did a great job on grading the concrete so the water flows towards the drains. Everything was lined up, and in the right place. They completed the job in 3 weeks, as they said, and have since still been communicative and helpful. It was a little tricky as the raised beds we wanted would need to be leveled on a slope, which was a little beyond our DIY skills. Very pleased with my experience with Model Yardz. From the get-go, Thomas and Jake were both responsive and collaborative. Their quote was reasonable in comparison with the other bids we solicited. Side note - when considering other companies, ensure materials are included as well and not out of pocket or your responsibility to procure/deliver! It was also helpful to have a team with experience working with our HOA, although some of the new HOA guidelines forced us to make changes to the initial design. Submitted a free consultation and was immediately contacted by Weston. On the day of the consultation, Weston reviewed a poorly drawn model of the project we wanted and he came up on the spot with certain revisions to the project.
