I really wanted to like this company. However when they replaced my hot water tank several months ago, unbeknownst to me, to make the new, larger unit fit, the tech shortened my washer drain. In doing so, the washer drain isn't tall enough anymore to properly drain, and there is a deeply curved 'trap', (that wasn't there before), that causes the water to rush back up and out of the drain. I had asked the tech at the time about all the 'left over' PVC pipe pieces, but he'd assured me it was from the old tank- when in fact it was actually my working washer drain that he'd removed and replaced with a shorter pipe, with a very curved 'trap'. He did this in order to make the new tank easier to install, he failed to reassemble the drain properly after removing it to install the tank. The back of the washer/drain/hoses/etc. are all in a separate room than the front of the washer. It's accessed clear on the other side of the house through a tiny door next to the fridge in the kitchen. I've went in there once to change my furnace filter months ago. I noticed the concrete floor was a bit 'damp', so I put a damp-rid in the room and thought nothing more about it- bottom line, my washer has been draining into this small utility room and flooding for months! There is actually mold on one of the wall studs now! I'd noticed my new flooring warping near the furnace intake vent, but couldn't understand why. It's the only place in the house that my new flooring is warped, chipping. I know now it's from the water leaking under the furnace in the utility room and seeping under the laminate flooring! Am I stupid for not realizing this sooner- yes, I admit I am. Is Discount Drains responsible for their tech tampering with, and ruining my washer drain- yes, yes they are! They are also responsible for the mold that occurred and the small area of warped flooring as a result of their mistake. I have contacted them, and I was told they are sending someone out to, "dispute the mold." Not a very courteous response at all! If they repair/replace the washer drain so it functions properly as it did before they ruined it, and address the mold they caused as well as replacing the affected floor boards, I will remove this post, however if they refuse to repair the washer drain that their tech ruined, and clean/repair the mold, replace flooring, I will have no choice but to litigate for damages and will continue to strongly suggest not doing business with this company! I trusted them to do the job right, and instead they caused damage to my home with their incompetence! I'm super disappointed both in their workmanship and response to my issue! read more

We've used Discount Drains twice now. They helped us with a lower level flooding issue by installing a sump pump in our garage. We also hired them to run a new water line to put an outdoor hose in another location of our house. While it may seem odd to have a FaceTime quote, the process isn't that much different than someone who comes to your house and does a surface level check only to find out when they begin the work that things are more complicated than they seem. The good news about the process is that it helps expedite the process so our jobs were completed much more quickly than quotes from other companies (I.e. by the time the person schedules to come look, prepare a quote, and then schedule the project installation much more time has passed). Everyone we worked with was friendly, efficient, and professional. The bonus for us is that our second project was actually cheaper than they quoted because they found a much easier solution when they got behind the wall to see what had been covered up by previous owners. We had a broken pipe in our master bath. After calling a bunch of plumber they were the one who could come sooner than all the others. They came and fixed the pipe in less than a hour. They explained what they were doing and what the cost was going to be. I appreciate their service. read more

Very disappointed! Used DD before and got great, friendly service. This time they sub-contracted to a HVAC guy (I needed a faucet replaced) who put in the wrong kind of faucet, charged $550, and did not give a detailed bill. 3 emails to DD asking for details and no reply. read more

I would've given them a higher rating for replacing my garbage disposal but I've now had to call them back twice due to leaks around it. They have come quickly back out however so I guess that's worth something. read more

Excellent experience with them! Came out same day, had the needed sump pump in stock and were able to replace ours on the same day. Their team were very friendly and professional and we now have our 20 year old pump that was on it's last legs replaced with a new one including battery backup pump! I contracted Discount Drains to bore a new water line under my driveway to my laundry room water meter. It has been a nightmare. They promised me a copper line it was in the contract and they gave me pvc. The installer who was a manager asked if I wanted some random trash that was lying around from the project disposed of in the bottom of the holes they dug before they covered it up. Hello ... Ohio EPA. They left my driveway and garage A MESS. My driveway is permanently scratched up badly. They told me in the contract they would pour concrete in the hole. They didn't. They sub contracted a company who made me wait over a month with a 2 foot hole in my driveway. They would not return my calls until I filed a BBB complaint. Now over the last 3 months. They are double and triple charging my Navy Federal Credit Union credit card my monthly payment of $286. Then when I call they can't see it and don't know what I'm talking about. Then don't return my call for a month. So I called again and said I was filing another BBB complaint and now they call me back but are still not resolving it. Stay away from these people ! I regret ever using these shoddy people. Shoddy job with shoddy communication and they haven't given me any kind of credit nothing. BUYER BEWARE read more

Water supply pipe broke where it entered into the house. I called @0715Monday morning and had a pleasant conversation with Kristen(sp?) She scheduled someone the same day to arrive between 3-5pm. Kept me updated when they were running late. Austen stopped by gave me a reasonable estimate and scheduled work for the next day. Everything came together like clockwork. Utilities were mapped out, city of Columbus had someone find the shutoff valve in my yard (house is app 50yrs old so it was buried and full of mud) Everything was done as planned. This is the second time I've used Discount Drains for my plumbing needs. Taylor installed an air admittance valve for our bathroom plumbing that was not properly tied to the vent. Also, Trevor was in and out in 30 minutes after replacing the check valve on our sump pump. Each time the technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to work with our home warranty company. They were willing to send a tech out to try to figure out our sewer smell. First tech (Gage) was supposed to be there between 9am-1pm. He finally shows up at 1:15pm and tells me "it can't be the venting" so I will need to cut a hole in your drywall but I don't have power tools. So he told me another technician would come within the hour. I waited almost 2 more hours before the last tech (Emily) came. Emily was super helpful (and cut the hole without using power tools so that was frustrating). She went up into the attic and determined the problem was our venting - the very thing i asked about to the first technician and was told it couldn't be. The whole thing cost $200 and when I messaged the company about my discontentment with my wait times (I missed a whole day of work), all of a sudden they stopped responding to my messages although before the job they were very quick to respond. Emily was great but everyone else was less than helpful. She is the only reason this isn't a 1 star. read more

After researching and researching and having multiple plumbers to my house to quote what should have been an easy job, Discount Drains not only delivered superior service but also quoted me a fair price. I had several companies come to my house to quote an easy small sink install with water lines and drain located on the other side of the wall in the basement. After having several OVER PRICED quotes and one plumber actually show up, cut a huge hole in my wall and decided he wasn't interested, Discount Drains picked up the slack. Discount Drains was an assigned plumbing contractor through our home warranty company to replace a malfunction gas water heater. Unfortunately, a perfect case of over-promising, under-delivering -- and an object failure to meet even basic standards and expectations of professional​ quality workmanship! In summary, we were blatantly lied to on a number of important issues, amongst several other germane things, failed to clean up at all after themselves once ostensibly completing the job properly, ran over, crushed and destroyed our sidewalk solar pathway lighting, then left behind in our basement a real mess for us to clean by ourselves, did a slipshod, substandard, incompetent, poor quality installation, and worst of all, left the job site carelessly with a large, active gas leak at one of the pipe fittings, which filled our house with overpowering noxious natural gas fumes, and thereby created a negligent, extremely dangerous, potentially life-threatening​ exigent situation! Fortunately, after correctly diagnosing by ourselves the active gas leak with a soapy water solution, we then shut off the auxiliary gas line valve to the water heater and barely averted a potential fire, asphyxiation, or even possibly an explosion! In short, a poor, exasperating, thoroughly dissatisfying, grossly unacceptable, highly indefensible and incredibly unnerving experience! Never again! read more
