While they were here I asked them to replaced toilet flapper valve and adjusted shower handle. They did it with smiles and only did what was necessary. Our water heater began leaking after only having it for three years. We called Michael at 5:00pm on a Friday and by 8:00pm on Saturday we had a state of the art tankless water heater installed and running. Michael clearly knows the products he is installing and walked my wife and I through what kind of maintenance we needed to do to ensure it lasts 20 plus years. I gladly recommend McDermott with five stars. This week, the company came out when our washer's drain pipe was backing up and overflowing onto the basement floor. Another company had previously said our drain might "have concrete in it" and the floor needed to be completely broken up. That would have cost thousands of dollars. Michael from McDermott snaked the pipe and fixed it pronto, never suggesting "concrete" in the pipe. (He said it was just typical "gunk.") McDermott is honest, reasonable and Michael is very nice and easy to work with (and he's a dog person, so our dog loved him!). McDermott also has installed a water heater for us in the past and took care of a leaky dishwasher. read more

We needed an emergency hot water heater replacement and Michael was able to fit us in the next day. They were organized, efficient, and professional, and installation of a new tankless heater to replace a traditional tank heater was finished quickly and cost substantially less than an estimate from another plumbing company. We had a bad experience with this provider. There was a leak coming from the bathroom toilet dripping steadily into the kitchen. We contacted this provider from another online referral service. While prompt and outwardly professional, after a $99 service call charge and another $249 to reseat and secure the toilet, the leak stopped and we figured our problem was over. Two days later, the leak started again. We called McDermott Plumbing to set up a return visit. A day before he was scheduled to come out, I called to verify that we weren't going to be charged for another service call. Nah. This time it would be a $129 "inspection fee" which would be applied to any work that cost over $400. Not interested in this "deal", I canceled the 2nd appointment and called a handyman instead. The handyman pulled the toilet and found all McDermott Plumbing did was add more sealant to the existing sealant. He scraped it all up and bought a new extra-thick wax ring. This is was the kind of professionalism I had expected from McDermott Plumbing in the first place, but did not get. I would never use this provider again and do not recommend under any circumstances. Keep looking for somebody else. read more

Had Mike McDermott to our house today to install a new water heater. We will forever be returning to McDermott now as our plumber. He was quick to return our call. Came to our house within less than 24 hours. Brought the new water heater and took away the old one. Installed it all within a few hours or less. Super friendly. Reasonably priced. McDermott plumbing performed extensive work on my condo. They were really very responsive and responsible throughout the entire process. Scheduling was easy. Everything went great and quick. Michael was able to replace sump pumps, cleared the drains and inspected other concerned spots around the house. He also explained after the work is finished in detail of works that were done and what could be future issues. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely use them again. McDermott Plumbing is our plumber for life! We've had Mike McDermott out to our house 3 times now, and have him scheduled for a 4th time. We've found him to be very honest about what needs to be done, and great about recommending fixtures when we asked for his advice. He's never been pushy or tried to sell us on something we didn't need, or made a repair that didn't need to be done. Quite the opposite - We initially had Mike out for what we were worried was going to be quite a costly repair, and we were concerned because my husband had been laid off. Mike assessed the situation, and reassured us that what we were seeing wasn't an ongoing problem - it was something which happened because of a spill. He didn't even charge us - which was what sold us - his utter honesty and they have a service fee, which we were prepared to pay, but we needed to have a toilet replaced, so we scheduled that to be done. Mike came out to replace the toilet shortly after the first appt. He is incredibly efficient, he does an incredible job, and he's worth every penny AND he's reasonable! Not only that, but he cleans up any mess he makes AND he's a super, super nice guy! Everyone we've ever spoken with at McDermott has been really nice and very professional! Over the holidays we had the family coming in and our garbage disposal went out AND ... I don't know how, but our kitchen faucet broke. We called Mike but he didn't think he could get to us till the following week. We told him our situation, and that we really didn't want to call anyone else, but with the family coming to our home, we wouldn't be able to do without a kitchen sink. He was absolutely amazing! Not only did he find the time to get us on his schedule, he suggested the same kitchen faucet he has in his house - which we've been really happy with, and he replaced our garbage disposal. Again, he was just as nice as could be, he was efficient, and worth his weight in gold, but thankfully his fees are very fair. Next week Mike is coming out to fix a leaky shower! Wish he installed ceiling fans, and did other stuff I'm absolutely NO good at because it's hard to find someone you really trust! We love McDermott Plumbing, and hope Mike will be our plumber for as long as we're in the area! read more
