He promised an estimate for both repairs -- if practical -- and replacement, for a similar quality unit. Bert was a nice gentlemen, but I have not TO THIS DAY ever heard back from him. Similarly with the receptionist at the office. She seems to be a very nice lady, but except for one return call, in January, to one of my three followups, it's been all crickets from her as well. I gave up long ago but thought prospective customers deserve a heads up. Edit: I just looked at my review as posted and have no idea how I got associated with San Francisco, CA. I live in Westerville, OH -- and I am not an outside agitator!

We had an issue with a faucet leaking and it was affecting our ability to have hot water. We called a plumbing company we have used for several years and were told they couldn't get to us for nearly two weeks! We decided to check Angi's list last night and we chose Jack L. Woods Plumbing Company. My husband, Greg, phoned them this morning and even though they said they were quite busy, they would work to fit us in tomorrow morning. But then my husband received a call and was told the plumber, Bill H. was on his way to our home. Bill fixed the issue within a short period of time and the leak stopped. We feel the price was very fari. We still need to do more work on the main bathroom tub fixtures, but that can wait. We're over the moon to have our hot water back! Highly, highly recommend Jack L. They had unwittingly disconnected my furnace and my water heater stopped working. The HVAC guy who fixed the furnance recommended I call Gunther for the water heater. They made the appointment, and now enter Calib! After inspecting it, Calib tells me I would need to replace my water heater. I agreed, what choice did I have? The next day he arrives, takes out the old water heater, and, unbelievably, refuses to use a dolly, insisting he can just slide it across my wood floors. He damaged my floors, apologized, and left me scrambling to protect them with rugs and towels. Then came the kicker: the new water heater was too big for the space. He hadn't measured anything, hadn't paid attention to the size of the previous heater...nothing. He suggested I just leave the closet door open. I informed him that was unacceptable as I have dogs and grandchildren! He actually was mad at me!!!! I even asked him, "are you pissed?". He tried to deny what was clearly written across his face. When he returned with another "solution," it was still too big. His response? "Oh well, that's the only one we have. Maybe we can investigate. No one makes tanks this small anymore." Then he left. I couldn't believe it! It's getting dark now, I was left crying, without hot water, and with no options. To make matters worse, he tried to take my old heater, which was sitting in front of my house, as he left. I was alone, distraught, and abandoned by a company that clearly didn't care. Thankfully, ECO Plumbers came to the rescue that same night. They not only installed a properly sized (29 gallon) water heater from the same brand (Bradford White) Gunther claimed didn't exist, they did it at a better price, AND actually made me feel valued as a customer. They were professional, placed vinyl down to protect my floors, wore foot covers, tested things 3 times or more, left a complimentary carbon monoxide detector, and most importantly treated me and my home with respect. Gunther Plumbing caused stress, damaged my floors, and left me helpless. I would never, ever trust them again, and I cannot believe the glowing 5-star reviews. If you value your time, your home, and your sanity, skip Gunther and call ECO Plumbers instead.

When we discovered water on our kitchen floor on a Saturday morning, we looked for plumbers that could be reached on weekends. We had been very pleased in the past by work done by Gunther Plumbing so we called their phone number. Under the name of Gunther Plumbing/a.k.a housecallpro.com (same phone number for both) we called to get an emergency plumber. At around 8 AM, we were told that one would be dispatched soon, and would call to let us know when he was arriving. As we battled the water spreading over our kitchen floor, we couldn't wait for the plumber. We kept the phone in hand and even watched the road, but no one called or arrived. After 4 hours, we called them again, and they said they were very busy but one of their techs would soon contact us. After 7 hours, we called again to say their business hours would be over soon, but no one had contacted us. The receptionist (Felicia?) said she would send Travis out immediately. But he never came, and we were never contacted. Nearly all my reviews of other companies have been glowingly full of praise and a pat on the back, but Gunther Plumbing/ housecallpro.com is one of the worst companies we have ever contacted. Don't be tricked by the phone number--same for both/ Avoid them, and avoid disappointment.

I really wanted to like this company. However when they replaced my hot water tank several months…read moreago, unbeknownst to me, to make the new, larger unit fit, the tech shortened my washer drain. In doing so, the washer drain isn't tall enough anymore to properly drain, and there is a deeply curved 'trap', (that wasn't there before), that causes the water to rush back up and out of the drain. I had asked the tech at the time about all the 'left over' PVC pipe pieces, but he'd assured me it was from the old tank- when in fact it was actually my working washer drain that he'd removed and replaced with a shorter pipe, with a very curved 'trap'. He did this in order to make the new tank easier to install, he failed to reassemble the drain properly after removing it to install the tank. The back of the washer/drain/hoses/etc. are all in a separate room than the front of the washer. It's accessed clear on the other side of the house through a tiny door next to the fridge in the kitchen. I've went in there once to change my furnace filter months ago. I noticed the concrete floor was a bit 'damp', so I put a damp-rid in the room and thought nothing more about it- bottom line, my washer has been draining into this small utility room and flooding for months! There is actually mold on one of the wall studs now! I'd noticed my new flooring warping near the furnace intake vent, but couldn't understand why. It's the only place in the house that my new flooring is warped, chipping. I know now it's from the water leaking under the furnace in the utility room and seeping under the laminate flooring! Am I stupid for not realizing this sooner- yes, I admit I am. Is Discount Drains responsible for their tech tampering with, and ruining my washer drain- yes, yes they are! They are also responsible for the mold that occurred and the small area of warped flooring as a result of their mistake. I have contacted them, and I was told they are sending someone out to, "dispute the mold." Not a very courteous response at all! If they repair/replace the washer drain so it functions properly as it did before they ruined it, and address the mold they caused as well as replacing the affected floor boards, I will remove this post, however if they refuse to repair the washer drain that their tech ruined, and clean/repair the mold, replace flooring, I will have no choice but to litigate for damages and will continue to strongly suggest not doing business with this company! I trusted them to do the job right, and instead they caused damage to my home with their incompetence! I'm super disappointed both in their workmanship and response to my issue!

We also hired them to run a new water line to put an outdoor hose in another location of our house. While it may seem odd to have a FaceTime quote, the process isn't that much different than someone who comes to your house and does a surface level check only to find out when they begin the work that things are more complicated than they seem. The good news about the process is that it helps expedite the process so our jobs were completed much more quickly than quotes from other companies (I.e. by the time the person schedules to come look, prepare a quote, and then schedule the project installation much more time has passed). Everyone we worked with was friendly, efficient, and professional. The bonus for us is that our second project was actually cheaper than they quoted because they found a much easier solution when they got behind the wall to see what had been covered up by previous owners. I would absolutely hire them in the future.
