Curatola Masonry is simply the best there is in Columbus, OH. I am blown away by the speed and quality of their work. Their communication about the job was excellent. They have an enormous breadth of knowledge and skill in masonry services and chimneys in particular. I highly recommend hiring them and would happily hire them again for any masonry services I need. Communication & Quote- When I first contacted them, Curatola promptly set up a time to give a quote. My 1930's chimney was badly in need of tuckpointing. Moss had started to grow on the brick, and many sections of the mortar joints we cracking, non-existent, or had been hastily patched. They gave me an excellent quote for the work and clearly explained all that needed to be done. Masonry work requires weather conditions to be good. They informed me ahead of time that the work on my chimney previously scheduled for one date would be moved to a later date due to poor weather conditions. They arrived on the scheduled date on time and completed the work promptly. Quality & Speed- They arrived in the morning and set up the scaffolding to begin work on the chimney. I checked on them throughout the day to be sure work was going well. It was incredible to see the work of the master masons. Justin explained how deep they grind the mortar joints to create work that is of the quality of master masons of the 1930's and 40's. Many other companies might do shallow grinds of joints because the deep cuts are simply more labor intensive. However, shallow grinds of mortar joints are a shortcut that simply won't last. They finished the tuckpointing in a day and used all of the original brick to repair my 1930's chimney. They didn't upsell me on anything and completed the work at the quoted price. The before and after difference is night and day. This is work that will last a lifetime. Craftsmanship- It is clear Justin Curatola has a deep love and appreciation for the craft of masonry. I especially appreciated that his focus was on the restoration of the 1930's chimney to its former glory. Justin took extra time to explain the original build quality of my chimney and that my chimney was designed built to burn both coal and wood. He also saved some original pieces of metal from the chimney for me to repurpose. Justin and his team are true craftsmen.
