Let me just start by telling you that I hope to God their kitchen looks nothing their women's bathroom. The restroom was absolutely disgusting, stuff falling off the walls, trash every where, etc. however, by the time I went into the restroom I had already ordered my food and we were on a road trip so I decided to stay. The food was very good. Unfortunately the hush puppies and crab cakes came out cold, but the shrimp, scallops and fish were good and the calamari was delicious. So again, here's to hoping that kitchen was clean. The two staff people that were on duty were pretty nice, but not very attentive and definitely rough around the edges. It was fun to try once, but if ever in the area again, I can't say I'll be returning. read more

The food was not prepared correctly or somethin but it gave me and my girlfriend the worst food poisoning I've ever had; we had to go to the hospital. Would not recommend at all. read more

YUM! I go to the OBX almost every summer, and have been going for YEARS. I make it a point to go to Dirty Dick's EVERY TIME! I've been to every location in the OBX. The food is great and the service has always been exceptional. I will always come back, and will always get a new T-shirt to add to my collection of many Dirty Dick's T-shirt's from over the years :) I was just at the Nags Head location last week, and I'm still drooling from the food I had, wishing I had some of their seafood now. I can't wait to come back again next summer!!! read more

Had absolutely no blue crabs in house (aren't you a crab house?) In peak season and at the end of june. We ordered a full order of snow crabs which consisted of about 10 legs for $30. They were WAY too salty and just not of the best quality. (They tasted old). The service was great though. Over all good atmosphere but dreadful product. Would not recommend for that kind of money. read more

I went here for breakfast and the food was disgusting. The eggs were powdered and when I told them cook me an egg it was in a puddle of grease. The waffle was ordinary. The gravy was bland and watery and to go along with that the biscuits were flavorless rocks. The only thing acceptable was the fruit. 40$ wasted at dirty dicks in the outer banks. I guess that's why the waitress is so nice because this place is a big waste. The Cook was rude though. Manager creepy. read more

Do not eat here. We sat at the bar to have dinner, Bartender was very nice and made suggestions. However husbands shrimp were mush, crab cake sandwich was cold, ordered hush puppies and were told not to bc they were on the house but never received them. Our bartender was so busy she never checked on us to ask how our dinner was. Manager was pretty friendly when we talked to him about it but made it very awkward- basically told us we looked like we had money so would not be complaining to get a meal for free but basically that is what we were doing- proceeded to take shrimp off my husbands plate and examine them. Was our first night in OBX- traveled for 2 days and really wanted a good meal- never write reviews, started trip off on wrong foot. read more

Decently clean place. People from our group came here 7 years ago so they wanted to have a throwback. Three people received explosive diarrhea from trinity platter. read more

Horrible service. Our hush puppies came out after we had already paid. We had asked 4 or 5 times for them. Took 20 minuets to get a refill. Manager was an ass. Food was good. That was the only positive to our trip. We will not be returning. read more

Great food. Good Service. Just a little pricey, but to be expected for a chain restaurant. Fun place to eat.

This place is really cool. It's name is what brought me to eat there but i ended up being in love with the food. The waiters there are all very nice and outgoing. The crab cake are out of this world. They are pretty pricey but they do a lot of business so you can't blame them. read more

The service and food - both were awful! The place was dead - so there was no excuse. Save your time and money and pick another place for your seafood fix! read more

Wow!!! This place is super FUN!!! When we walked in the host had a big smile on her face and seemed genuinely happy we were there( (she had really bright funky sneakers :) We came around 4 for the all you can eat crab special but I ended up trying the crab lasagna and it was AMAZING!! My Fiancé had the AYE crab legs and of course I tried some too and they were Awesome too. My server was very attentive and helpful as well. I loved the Strawberry frozen cocktails I had too (not sure of the name). We will be back in September!! 2 Thumbs up for DD's!!! :) read more

Had a great time! Food was wonderful. Jessica our waitress was awesome! Food was delivered hot and well plated. Loved the experience!

Went to dirty dick tonight with my family with 10 people had excellent service great food was no problem getting us right in they had tables for two up to unlimited seating it was probably a true top ten meal and the manager was so friendly as he came around to make sure our experience was the best it could be thank you to the manager robbie and his excellent staff thanks for you hospitality the mariner platter was great read more

After ordering the all you can eat crab legs we had to wait 20 min to get them. Although the legs were cooked perfect they made sure that they didn't keep coming. Makes you made when you drop $100.00 and you and your daughter have to beg for your all you can eat crab legs. The manager came out did the song and dance as if it were rehearsed but we still didn't get all we could eat because they made sure we waited until we were fed up. The restaurant wasn't even 1/4th full so being busy wasn't the issue. read more

We were beyond pleased. The service was great, the food was very, very good you get a large portion. It's a little pricey but again you get a decent portion. The only thing i was a bit disappointed in was i ordered fish and chips the chips were french fries. I was hoping for homemade chips. So, it was pricey for fish and french fries... read more

The restaurant used to be good in the old location. It lost some a lot of its great character when they moved it to the new location. My dad and I liked it better back then. read more

Dirty Dicks lives up to its name. My husband and I were enjoying our meal when half way into the meal I found a hair. I was not about to just get a new plate, I was disgusted. What was worse was that management gave us a discount on the overall bill, when the entire thing should have been waived. Waitress was inattentive. I work in customer service and I don't like to give bad reviews, but this place deserved it, read more

Come on, I've had better seafood from central NC, SERIOUSLY! Obx, you really need to get it together. Fresh clam strips with "orange" tartar sauce, over breaded, does not qualify as palatable. Sorry guys, you get a D- for effort. Go to Awful Arthur's nearby, it's great. read more

This place was amazing. Our waitress was extremely helpful and very nice. We were a very difficult group to serve. We asked for a small sample of crab for someone who has never tried it before. They went out of their way to deliver our request. We asked so many questions and our waitress was really patient. The manager was super friendly and made sure our table was satisfied. Last but not least, the crab and hush puppies were delicious! read more

Went to dirty dicks while vacationing in the outerbanks. As soon as we sat down the waitress began by telling us they were out of crabs. Ok, well isn't this a crab house? It got worse from there. My husbands tap beer was flat and horrible. My first order of shrimp was cooked wrong and the replacement order was undercooked. The chicken wings were whole, not trimmed and undercooked. Looked like they were ready to fly off the dish. Save your money;grab a pizza!!!! read more

My large group of 7 wanted to head to Awful Arthur's Raw Bar, but when we got there it was over an hour and 40 min wait. So we headed out with out any idea where to go next. We remembered seeing all the road signs for Dirty Dicks on the way out to the outer banks, and we were starting to get really hungry, so we gave up and decided to give this place a try. They were easily able seat to our group within 15 min, which was a plus. The place is pretty kitschy (complete with the requisite screaming small children), but we ended up getting a dozen oysters for starters, which were actually pretty decent. We then got a full order of snow crab and a full order of shrimp. I think they call them "orders" instead of pounds so they can get around the value for your money issue. The full order is definitely not a pound worth, and at $23 per order, that's a steep price. Crab at the local harris teeter (we did another crab boil later that weekend) was $9.99 per pound. We ended up having to get a few more things from the menu so that everyone was satisfied, and while the food was decent, the issue was the value. read more

Well, let's begin with when we entered... There was no hostess to seat us. When she finally arrived at her station. We asked a couple of basic questions, which she said we would have to ask the our server. Ok- fair enough. Our server was friendly and fairly fast, certainly efficient. But, the food..... Lobster roll lunch special. You get two, with fries. It basically tasted like a cheap, faux Krab-with a "K" salad. I had two bites and was done with mine. The fries were limp and greasy. The hush puppies were tasted like they were recooked.aybe the oil needed changing. They were hard, dark and had a burnt flavor to them. The crab cake sandwich was disappointing as well. If it was made in house, they need to change the recipe! The bun was good though. The fried shrimp was pretty good. So, the reason it got two stars instead of one was because of the service and the shrimp. Because it had the feel of a tourist trap and some of the food was bad, I wouldn't go back. Oh, and by the way, it was expensive. read more

I came here on a suggestion by my beautiful girlfriend. I love her so much she is the stars in my sky. She has the smoothest and best body out there. She is amazing. What were we taking about again? read more

Terrible! We got the Trinity platter for $62.99 and what they claim was a pound of crab legs. The shrimp in the Trinity platter was so overcooked that you couldn't even peel it without it falling apart, the sausage and corn were awful too. The only decent part was the crab legs and the portion they provided definitely didn't seem like a pound. Very disappointed and will never return. read more

Great seafood with reasonable prices, plenty of seating and pleasant atmosphere. The all you can eat seafood items are delicious and timely refills, worth the price if you go hungry. read more

If you'd like to buy a t-shirt, this is the spot. If you'd like a good meal at a fair price, go somewhere else. A cup of soup was $7, the crab cake was stuffed with fillers, the fries were soggy, and the salad was drenched in dressing with tiny, frozen shrimp. It tastes like poorly planned and executed chain food, but that's no excuse when you have only 3 locations and one is in Florida. It's a shame - they must have been good at one time but they lost their way trying to become a chain concept. The King Crab Platter was $79. Really - at Dirty Dick's? read more

Wonderful atmosphere and staff. Great menu, food and service was awesome. However.......and I hope the owners actually read this! It really pisses me off when all is well until you start looking around. For instance from our seat at the bar the ceiling above the entrance to the kitchen was almost on the floor! All the ceiling tiles throughout the place were stained, the vents were grossly dirty. Then there was the bathroom. It was deplorable! Dirty smelly and rusted nasty! Wth? Details do matter! Never go back...who knows what corners they cut with the food! read more

Our waitress was very nice....that was about the only thing good about the place though. The food was definitely not worth the amount of money we spent for the 4 of us. read more

We liked the mixed drinks, but as far as the food goes - had so much better. We ate at a newer location in the lower half of the OBX. It was below average - prices are a bit too high for the quality of food you receive. Would only go back for drink..... read more

Horrible service. once seated, it took about 15 minutes for our drink orders to be taken. tables just as full as ours were given drinks and food before we even got our orders in. drinks were constantly empty once we did get them. went for the all you can eat dinner, found out once we got there that they do not do that. nowhere on the website does it say anything about that. food was HORRIBLE. customer service was horrible. just an all around horrible experience. read more

Very nice staff. Very helpful and friendly. Average to above average food prep. My shrimp was over cooked, but my husbands crab legs were on the mark and delicious. Good food options for kids. More than just pizza and chicken nuggets. Great 80's music played whole time. read more

Ate here a few years ago and it was wonderful. Ate here on August 5, 2012, and it was not worth the expense. The shrimp was overcooked. The crab legs slightly less overcooked. The waitress was not as attentive as she should have been. The hush puppies were stale. I've had better shrimp and crab legs at the chain seafood place. Save your money and time. There are better choices in the OBX. read more

I was on vacation with some relatives and of course the lovely name "Dirty Dick's" catches your eye. Of course we wanted to explore the extremely expensive tourist trap known as the gift shop, but we also were expecting good food, as their prices for that were also outrageous. When they seated our party of ten, many things caught our eye. 1/10 people were satisfied with their meal. I don't care too much for sea food, so I ordered the chicken tenders and nibbled on other people's seafood. The chicken was horrendous. The 3 year old next to me refused to eat the Capt. Crunch chicken or mine. The seafood was too chewy and the waiting was below average. If you are compelled to go to Dirty Dick's Crab House, save your wallet the trouble by grabbing your t-shirts and go. (And even then you'll be spending a load of dough) read more

Decided to try Dirty Dicks and other than the rice and beans and hush puppies it was an awful meal. Soup of the day was Maryland Crab Soup. The issue was it was jambalaya, not one piece of crab meat in it. When we asked the waiter again if he was sure it was crab soup, he again confirmed it. Spiced Steamed shrimp had absolutely no seasoning on it except a few capers. Bacon cheeseburger flat bread was terrible and had maybe 10 m&m size pieces of ground beef on it. I blame myself for ordering it. Will never come back here and would recommend any customer go to I Got Your Crabs up the street. This was my worst meal at a restaurant in a long time. Lastly, seafood is way overpriced. read more

Went to Dirty Dick's and found the restaurant to be true to it's name. Dirty, sticky stairs and flies led the way to our table. The hushpuppies were good (the best part of my meal) and our waitress was really nice and knowledgeable of the menu. The steamed food was pretty good but the prepared dishes not so much. I ordered the stuffed shrimp and it had a noticeable ammonia smell. I returned them because they weren't fresh but I did enjoy my side items that came along with the main course my (potatoes and mixed veggies). I asked them to ring me up for the sides, because I did eat them, but not the stuffed shrimp. When we received the bill we were overcharged for my meal. When we spoke to the manager she stated that she took $10 off because they made the stuffed shrimp that morning, basically implying that I lied about the smell. We literally had to take out a menu and explain why subtracting $10 from the total wasn't a fair price since the veggie and potato side items only cost $4 each. She apologized and said she didn't do the math but "it's only $4". I understand that it's a small amount of money but the attitude and condescending tone of the manager is what really solidified that I'll never be dining at any place called "Dirty" again. read more

Me and my family decided to have a nice lunch here today, we were sadly disappointed. We ordered shrimp tacos and found produce stickers still on the peppers, the fried clams and fries were cold, and the crab meat was imitation, very cheap over priced food, and when it came to the check for the stickers found in our tacos the manager only took half off the meal instead of just not charging us for that meal, I will never be eating here again, horrible food. read more

I got my crabs from Dirty Dick's Crab House on Thursday night July 14, 2016. I got there not too long from closing time but was seated and my server Jen was very pleasant and patient as I was trying to decide what I wanted on the menu. I chose the dozen blue crabs. They were promptly brought to my table in a boat. The crabs were wonderful but they take a lot of work to eat and I was eating the crabs well past closing. Jen came by and I felt like I was keeping them from being able to close. She was very nice and said she wasn't in a hurry and for me to enjoy my dinner. The manager - Rob I think - was just as nice. He said he just wants to extend Southern hospitality to his customers. The food and drink were great and the service was outstanding. The bathrooms were adequate. Jen and Rob are wonderful people. read more

My first experience at this establishment was nothing short of amazing! Our waiter was boisterous, friendly, and made us feel like a member of the family. The food was also a highlight for our group. From the tuna, fried alligator to the award winning fried crab lasagna, everything that was placed on the table was delicious. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside but melt in your mouth upon the first bite. The fried crab lasagna deserved its title of award winning with the mouth watering flavors of the crab, herbs and sauces. Kudos to the chefs! If you ever go to Nags Head, Dirty Dicks should be your first stop. read more

Dirty Dick's was well, as the name entailed, down right dirty. We had read some reviews and they were about as true as it gets. The room wreaked of urine and the most delightful thing was the soap, which was oddly enough only in the women's room. To start we had a very good experience with the appetizers. We tried the fried gator and pickles, both were very surprisingly pleasing. That was the climax of the dinner. We were all extremely displeased with our entrees. While the burgers were decent, every bit of seafood we ordered (crab melt, stuffed shrimp, haddock and shrimp scampi) all tasted over salted and lackluster, considering we were in view of the Atlantic Ocean. One friend ordered ribs and they were so salty he couldnt finish them. I dont fancy myself a connoisseur of sea food but i do know when a $270 meal is hardly edible, theres an issue. Aside from the food being less than lackluster the waitresses were very disorganized. They tried to go off of memory opposed to writing down what was necessary and as you can assume, this lead to confusion multiple times. They automatically charge gratuity due to our party size being larger than 6. This led to a $40 tip for underwhelming staff. Ultimately the appetizers and the front desk associates were pleasant, while the waitresses and food were as subpar as imaginable. Wont return again and wouldn't recommend any others to go unless you're just dining on appetizers. read more
