Over rated.......... tourist trap........ very pricey......... Seafood they have good selection on their menu. Place is clean, Service is good and portion sizes are good. Lots of T-shirts and other tourist gift items in their shop. You can do much better on seafood at other places around this place is very high-priced and very touristy. It's not where the locals go. read more

We arrived at 8pm and were advised that it would be a 15 minute wait. We expected to wait as we had a party of 8 but we did not get seated for 45 minutes and had to sit at separate tables. After ordering, we did not receive our food until almost 10 o'clock. Then, the food was not very hot and really was not very good. None of us "loved" our food but it was not terrible. For 8 of us the bill was $240. Restaurant was gimmicky and the food is not worth the price. Would not recommend. read more

If you go, the best value here is the all you can eat snow crab and spiced shrimp which comes with red potatoes, corn on the cob and a piece of some extremely good sausage. A bit pricey (about $33) but you literally get *all you can eat* of steamed crab and shrimp. They definitely keep it coming until you honestly can't eat anymore. Our server today told us that the most anyone has eaten of both is 19 plates of crab and shrimp...consider yourself challenged! The atmosphere? Pretty much what you would expect from a beach establishment that caters to a very casual crowd. No finery but the employees are all extremely friendly, funny and sincere. And the gift shop is very cool. You'll pay for your seafood here but the quality is top notch. Two of us in our party of four had butterflied shrimp stuffed with crab (about $23) that came with a variety of roasted cubed potatoes and crisp, yummy green beans. Our shrimp were delicately steamed and amply stuffed with crab. It was a great meal. The other two with us had the all you can eat crab and shrimp. They did keep that crab and shrimp coming! And the hush puppies are fabulous. We often drive down from Norfolk just to eat here and have never been disappointed. Oh and as a last note, the waitress told me as I ordered coffee that they serve Gevalia but the water can be iffy when it comes to taste. I insisted she bring coffee and even took several refills. The coffee was weak but still very drinkable despite the water hinkiness. Don't listen to the others here with their negative reviews. Go and judge for yourself. read more

I have no complaints. It is gimmicky; but honestly, that was the draw for me. The food was decent. The service was good. The drinks were moderately priced and had a fair amount of alcohol. Overall, nice tourist spot for a quick seafood meal. read more

Id have to say the name is the most clever idea they came up with, Once inside your pretty much scamed out of your hard earned money so that you can enjoy an over air conditioned, tourist joint. The decor was better in our rented shore house. Im not saying i didnt enjoy my crabs, But Id had just as good legs at my local sports diner, as an app. Im glad i came here with a great group of folks, otherwise Id really had been upset when i was handing over my bills to pay. Unless your dying to say, You got Crabs at Dirty Dicks. Dont waist you time. read more

Oh my goodness, if I only could order one thing the next time I come back it would be their homemade tartar sauce, or their homemade cocktail sauce, or their carb cake, or definitely their hush puppies!! I highly recommend this place. read more

A touristy place but with decent service and some great finds on the menu. The crab melt is fantastic but everything else I've had fell short. read more

Wonderful place and really had a great time talking to management and the servers. They take care of you and the food was great! We went the day after thanksgiving and decided to try out the buffet. The carb cakes were wonderful and my kids loved the fried fish! We brought along four kiddos that some ate like birds and some didn't and the manager charged us for only one buffet to account for the picky eaters. Again, very nice staff and really went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time and meal!! Will definitely be going back! read more

We came, we saw, we left, disappointed. It took our group of three 45 minutes to get a table. While we waited we sat at the bar and at first the bartender was nice and got us drinks immediately but then he walked away and never came back, even after our beers were long gone. Before he left, we noticed a big sign at the bar with bar specials on it but when we tried to order from that menu the bartender told us that those specials were only from 3-6 even though there were no times written anywhere on the sign, so that was pretty sharty. Anyway, once we were seated our waitress was pretty perky but none of us were very happy with our food. I had half a steamed crab, which turned out to be 4 spindly crab legs, 2 tiny potatoes and the worst corn on the cob I've ever had. My brother had some seafood pasta which tasted good but was lacking in seafood, and my mom had steamed shrimp, which was doused in old bay and salt. Literally, they could've seasoned 10 pounds of shrimp with the amount of "spices" they dumped on her plate. She scraped off as much as she could but she said her tongue felt raw after she was done eating. I tried one prawn and I really don't know how she ate that whole plate, I would've sent it back. In general the portions were small considering the astronomical prices and all 3 of us left dissatisfied. At least we can say we tried Dirty Dicks, I guess. read more

Robert was the best waiter. The chef was off tonight. Cold sides on a cold dish but the entree was hot and great!

Don't go here! Dirty Dick's was way overpriced and was a waste of time. First, we were seated in a back room that was roughly 95 degrees (who can eat in this environment). When we asked to move, even though they were not that busy, they seemed inconvenienced. When we finally sat down, we were shocked at the prices ($56 for ONE pound of their crab...your kidding me!) My husband ordered Crab Imperial and it was Deviled Crab instead (I have never eatten Imperial with ham in it.) I ordered Stuffed Shrimp, and it was filled with mostly onions and fillers. When we complained, our concerns were met with only excuses (nice customer service). After paying over $170 for 4 adults and 2 children, we left unhappy. Later that night, my daughter got an upset stomach and was up getting sick throughout the night. DO NOT GO HERE! Unless you enjoy paying money to get sick, in which case, this may be just the place for you! Our family has been coming here for many years. Go to Henry's, Awful Aurthur's, Carolina Seafood Buffet, or Miller's. AND if you want crab, go to Billy's Seafood in Collington and pay just $100 for an entire bushel! We made three meals for our 6 people with a bushel (fresh crabs, 2 lbs. of crabcakes, and 6 crab sliders.) read more

Service was prompt and attentive. Had the shrimp and scallops baked in a bread pastry. The shrimp were fine. Not sure what had been cut up and was being presented as scallops. Real scallops are whole. There was so much garlic that it was barely edible. read more

I called ahead to see what the wait was and was told 10 minutes, but then he rudely told me he was to busy to answer my call, and hung up. When we arrived we waited 45 minutes before we were seated, which was fine, because we really enjoyed eating there last time and there is always a wait. Waitress was extremely busy, I guess she had several tables seated at once. She told us she was too old to keep doing this job (not our problem). My son ordered the shrimp Mac N Cheese. It was horrible. The shrimp was rubbery and the CHEESE WASN'T EVEN MELTED. There definitely wasn't cheeses on it . My husband ordered the shrimp platter. I honestly think they were frozen from a grocery store. They had the worst taste and he ate the few fries he got in one handful. I got the crab melt, unfortunately, the bacon and bread was so hard, it was impossible to chew. Don't be fooled into thinking you're getting "ranch" chips with that, because they are just hard, overdone potato chips. Not to mention we waited an hour for this food that was terrible. We are always so happy eating there, don't mind the wait, the price, but we won't be back. It's sad when you can get a better shrimp meal inland vs right on the ocean. read more

Man...Kill Devil Hills/Nags Head/Cape Hatteras aren't like the other cities...places do close early. My friend and I didn't realize that we were eating late for dinner. But we thought...no problem...since most places would be open until 11 or even midnight. That's not the case here...many of them were closed by 9pm. Well...Dirty Dick's was one of the few places left that was open for at least half an hour. But since we made it...the kitchen and bar remained opened. I had been here before...the one by the Okracoke ferry. So, I was looking forward to another good dining experience here. However, I was kinda disappointed that they didn't have the "po'boy" shrimp sandwich available. I guess that's only during lunch. Anyways, my friend and I shared our entrees together. He had the popcorn shrimps and I had the fried mahi mahi. The shrimps were bigger than the norm for popcorn shrimps but they were still good nonetheless. The mahi mahi was good but the one at Uncle Pauly's in Dare, NC was even better! And I wasn't quite impressed with their rice. However, the drinks were fabulous! Our waiter was super-friendly and knowledgeable of entrees. And even when the bar and kitchen were closed...he still gave us quality and attentive service. read more

We ordered a deep fried turkey, stuffing, gravy, and key lime pie for Thanksgiving. The pickup was very easy. Heating instructions for the next day were very clear and helpful. The manager and bar staff that helped us were all very friendly and wearing masks. The turkey was excellent. It was very moist and the flavor was perfect. Just the right amount of seasoning. We will definitely visit Dirty Dicks whenever we visit the OBX and if we spend the holiday there again we will absolutely get another fried turkey. read more

My wife and I only live about an hour away from OBX so we decided to come for the weekend. She kept talking about dirty dicks mostly because she LOVES seafood, but also because she wanted a t shirt. OBX has a bunch of spots with great seafood, and I'm from MD so I know seafood. I love the layout of this place, it's very clean and everyone here was so nice, we were greeted right away and ordered some drinks, gator bites and she crab soup. My soup was gone before I realized I ate all of it... it was DELICIOUS, thick, just how I like it. I had never had gator before and it was so tender and juicy and had great flavor, we have already talked about coming back to get it again. Then we got 2 broiled seafood platters with scallops, fish, crab cake, shrimp, potatoes asparagus. Everything was delicious, the scallops were cooked perfectly, sometimes if you cook scallops too long they end up like mush, but these were soft and had a bounce to them. The crabcakes were good, in MD we have huge chunks of crab meat in our cakes, this crabcake was filled with crab, but not as chunky as I'd like, it still had great flavor though. The shrimp and fish were delicious, I added extra extra seasoning to everything because that's how I like it. We boxed everything up and were offered dessert so we got the key lime pie which was sooo sooo good. It's very rich, so I don't think I could eat an entire slice in one day, but the flavors are wonderful. It's the off season til the beginning of April, so there were some locals in there who were having a good time. We were not bothered by them a bit, but management was aware if their commotion and quickly took care of it in a tactful way, then checked to see how we were doing. It was nice because many people were involved in our dining experience and it made us feel so welcomed and at ease and actually kind of special. This a beach town, if you're offended by loud people or party people maybe try to be understanding that locals frequent this spot and know many people on a first name basis, if you do encounter it here. I think this is a great place for families of all ages, they've got something for everyone. After we ate we headed into the gift shop section and got some shirts, I collect long sleeves. We will be back here again, it was a great experience and it's a staple here in OBX. read more

CORRECTION NEEDED! The correct address for this restaurant is 2407 S Croatan Hwy, Nags Head, NC 27959. Big portions, the food ain't half bad, and there are a few local beers on tap. If you need a place to go watch Thursday Night Football because you're too much of a cheapskate for the NFL network, there are worse places you could go. I split the burger with a buddy because it is a 1 lb. burger. It was cooked medium rare to order with crispy bacon and is definitely worth sharing. read more

I've been twice and the experience was the same both times. Decent fried seafood, if nothing special, sometimes over cooked. I ordered a double Gin & Tonic. If it had any tonic water, it had gone flat. Tasted very watery. The service was atrocious. Both times I waited almost 10 minutes before being acknowledged by the waitress. Service is slow and it's hard to get a waiter or waitress to pay attention to you when you need something. I won't be going back, and I don't recommend it. There's far better restaurants on the OBX, even if they don't have the clever billboards and t-shirts. read more

Great Food!! We started with a pitcher of Sangria, and it was excellent. very smooth and totally recommended for appetizers ordered the friend calamari and it was vey crisp and tasty. For dinner, I ordered the catch of the day, which was the blackened grouper and ordered it with lemon butter sauce which made it even better. You can taste the freshness in the fish. We went in a group of 12 and everyone in our group was very please with the food and the service. definitely recommended if you go to OBX. read more

Had a great time with the family! Service and atmosphere are just right, and the food was fresh, abundant and tasty! Gator bites were perfectly breaded and the dipping sauce was killer! I had seafood at several places at OBX so far and this is by far my favorite! I'll be back! read more

Dirty Dick's Crab House - Nags Head - Trinity! - Seafood Near Me - Nags Head, North Carolina

I brought my family to Southern Shores/Kitty Hawk for a week's vacation. We ate a few places which were fine, but I was surprised that it was hard to get good seafood ON the ocean. Finally, on Thursday we decided to stop at Dirty Dick's, we almost didn't because of the name but ultimately did, because of the name. We came in and were seated in Jen's section. She is OUTSTANDING!!! She took care of us. I ordered a piña colada and the oyster po boy and my wife got the fish sandwich and we ordered the shrimp for our son. The seafood was very fresh and the helpings were huge. The best oysters I had all week. I can't say enough nice things about Jen. Jen was personable, and knowledgable about the menu and gave the perfect suggestion for lunch. She loved on our son and he loved her back! The manager, Dale, checked up on us and made sure that everything was perfect: it was. We were served great food by an excellent server with great conversation and attention to detail. We will definitely go back there the next time we come back and you should go too! read more

Wholly Crap that is a lot of food. A bunch of us showed up after giving them a head count.....then realizing we can't count. ANYWAY, Richard did such an awesome job and the food tasted sooooo good. Had the seafood bowl which contained shrimp, crab meat lobster and scallops. Just awesomely delicious. Wifey had oysters and crab legs which she loved. Could go on but there were 9 of us and all the food looked great. read more

Wow! THIS is where I'd suggest for seafood! Stopped in for lunch and glad we did! The three of us ordered an order of King Crab Legs, half order of "huge shrimp" (as they're called here) which we included the option of corn on the cob, andouille sausage and new potatoes. Also, we ordered two baskets of fries and two orders of the hushpuppies. Did I say WOW yet? The claws were a 10 out of 10! Two huge clusters. Lots of meatiness in the claws...served with drawn butter. The shrimp were 6 incredibally tasty ones -- 4" long -- with tasty cocktail sauce! I'll post the picture to prove it. LOL. The hushpuppies were the best I've had in a long time! Their fries were of the fresh hand-cut variety. Similar to Five Guys fries! Casey--excellent service! Much appreciated darlin'! Treat yourself folks. You don't have crab legs everyday. Save your pennies and treat yourself while on vacation. It was well worth the hour+ drive from Corolla. You won't regret it! read more

Bad, bad, bad news! 2 hours later a 5 year old is still waiting for his dinner. Manager gave excuses, we didn't want to hear it he stormed off mad!! When food came it was cold. Drinks took forever so if u did have hot food it got cold waiting for your drink. When the kid food finally came (while i was writing this) it was the wrong order. I get they were not prepared to be busy, but don't storm off mad because we were upset. Restaurant management 101, just make it right. Waitress was nice. read more

I can only speak to walking in at lunch time. We were seated in an empty section where 3 tables near us were dirty, like food all over, gross, dirty. The woman who sat us went back to the front and sat down to talk to someone. No one else came over, we had menus but nothing to drink and I was thirsty. We waited for almost 10 minutes and then walked out without anyone ever coming over to our table. The menu was boring and I got the feeling that they only get business from tourists. I do feel that I'm being a little unfair giving it only 1 star not having eaten the food or experienced to service.... But then again, that wasn't our fault. read more

I have been to Dirty Dicks in Panama City, FL on several occasions and had good food. However, the location in Nags Head was one of the worst meals ever. Fish was raw, anything fried tasted like they used motor oil. Served the children's food 15 minutes ahead of the adults, and waitress was very rude and not knowledgable about the menu. Two members in our party of 6 ordered prime rib, and twenty minutes after the order went in the waitress sauntered by and casually said "we ain't got no prime rib today" what else do you want. This is easily the worst dining experience I have ever had. I will never eat there again. read more

Great atmosphere, food was excellent, great service! The only reason I gave 4 stars is I wish there had been more of a sandwich choice ( I know that seems crazy ... but we were there in between lunch and dinner and I thought let's pop in and grab a sandwich on the way to our shoot .... and there wasn't much to choose from in that regard ) or, for someone in the crowd that didn't care for seafood. Dirty Dick's Crab House - Nags Head - Seafood Near Me - Nags Head, North Carolina

I know it's overpriced, but I don't see why everyone is being so hard on this place. I have typically lived in land-locked states, so going somewhere where my husband and I can get fresh seafood is a rare occurance. My husband LOVES seafood, and ordered a half order of some variation of crabs they had available that day, and it literally arrived on a 3 foot long plate. He said they were great, and they looked pretty good to me even though I'm not a huge fan of my food having eyes when it arrives. I'm not a huge fan of seafood, but they had this crab lasagna concotion which was perfect. I felt like I was getting the seafood experience without the overly-fishyness. We also had a crab dip appetizer that was fantastic. Our server was nice, the service was good, and I purchased an embarrassing, tourist-trap t-shirt. I am shameless. Although the place is pricey, I felt that it was reasonable for fresh, local seafood that I didn't have to prepare myself. read more

First time visiting OBX. The name alone makes you want to go! Can actually say the food was great. I do not eat seafood but all of my family greatly enjoyed the seafood and said was amazing. Would totally eat here again when visiting. read more

Food and service wasn't good the best. Lobster was like chewing a tire. Crab cakes were mushy, shrimp were fresh. My husband got the large plate little bit of everything on it and it wasn't much on the plate. My sons food came out 10mins after everyone else's. The server was rude. Refills didn't happen until we asked and even then they brought out a pitcher and left it with us. Only good thing about the experience was the hush puppies! They were amazing!!! read more

This place is basically all about the advertisement of their glasses, and merchandise, nothing special and for the price I would rather go somewhere else. I do feel awful though, My husband and I went here thinking it was this restaurant called "dicks", where the theme is the waiters are complete dicks to their customers, I mean like crude, might make some cry rude... sounds weird but its all about entertainment. well we mistaken this place for that one so when we immediately walked in my husband and Brother in law started being rude towards the waitress... she looked at us like we were crazy.. it was really embarrassing when we realized it wasnt the same place...... Ooops! but to be honest, there are some great places out there, take a look around, its a little pricey for the quality... and yes being by the beach a lot of places are expensive but I would have rather gone somewhere else. read more

Food, service and cleanliness was excellent. We didn't have to wait long and the server was super polite. Parking space isn't bad and two way acsess makes entry and exit comfortable. Would have like to taste more crab and less filling. Its worth the visit!!!! read more

Overpriced Gimmick Resturaunt. First impression was "oh, this is cute". Walking into the resturaunt after a Saturday of pier fishing (smelling like cut bait and needing a good hand wash), we were overwhelmed with the stench of the place, which actually smelled worse than we did. *at that point, it was a very surprizing note as the couple writing this review both reeked of sunbleached bait-fish*. Stinkyness aside, We decided to give it a go, walked in to no host to seat us. A brief 2 minute wait at the front of the restaurant for someone to finally mozy by and seat us. the high table we were seated into was dirty, but had a full view of the restaurant. However, A Saturday night in the Outer banks, this restaurant was not busy at all. The floor however had all the signs of a clan war, from bits of slopped water on tabletops to food/occasional shell bits left under them on the floor for new people to experience. The feeling of cleanliness was not with us this evening, however the lighting also gave it a somewhat comfortable atmosphere, perhaps they were just hitting a lull of business. The service was prompt, ordered 2 iced teas and looked over the menu. We were hit with sticker shock however at the current prices of their trio platter, and then again, by the "market" price per weight of snow crab legs and king crab legs. Coming from a land-locked state, I could easily order either of the two items above mentioned for about $14 cheaper, and it would be the same frozen catch delivered in rural Ohio. Realizing our mistake, we promptly offered to pay for the iced teas and left, cannot comment on the quality of the food because we decided to attend a more local venue (Jolly Roger) for our seafood. Sorry Dicks, it just wasnt in the cards for us, nor will it be in the future. The local staff were very kind in covering the price of the iced tea, however the place was overpriced for what it had to offer. I think a little more bleach and time spent in the cleaning process may be helpful. read more
