Stolen identity. Made a reservation to have a scheduled install as a new customer when we close on our new house, got a call back over a week later asking my husband to confirm all details to confirm the reservation. He was not asked to confirm the last 4 of social or credit card # he was asked to provide all the full data again. Feeling uneasy about this after the call, my husband checked our accounts, sure enough fraudulent charges on our banking statement. He called customer service directly and was told by a DIRECTV employee that our reservation was cancelled, and other reservations were being made by one of their employees under all different names. Fraud happens to be closed on the weekends, so I called today to rectify the situation. My husband was given the Fraud line on Friday for me to call on Monday morning. I called the number and got a regular customer service agent who laughed when I told them my story. NOT A LAUGHING MATTER! We are in the process of moving and have had to cancel our credit card due to your lack of security, on top of now must monitor very closely accounts being opened under my husband's social security number. The customer service agent I spoke with told me basically that he didn't understand how this was possible as their system is encrypted so data could not be seen. HE CALLED MY HUSBAND AND ASKED FOR IT OVER THE PHONE. HE MUST HAVE WROTE IT DOWN! "Well we are not allowed to do that" Well dear, it has been done because today alone we woke up to 9 additional attempts to charge our card, thank goodness its cancelled. I spoke with this regular agent for 51 min before I was told he could not help and needed to speak with the FRAUD department. Well that's the phone number I called. He kindly noted my account so that I wouldn't have to repeat my story again and transferred me to "FRAUD", or so I thought. I was placed in a queue where I waited for an additional 15 min before reaching someone else. I provided info that my call was regarding a fraud case and provided my phone number. I was told that after providing my phone number that it wasn't an AT&T phone number it was Verizon phone number and I needed to call them. The representative did not ask the nature of my call just dismissed it and wanted me to call someone else. Keep in mind I immediately said when being connected I was calling in regard to a FRAUD SITUATION. I then asked for a supervisor since this representative spoke very broken English and was dismissing why I was calling. Then I was told to call yet another number. I reached out to DIRECTV to have them contact me when it was convenient for them since their phone representatives are incompetent and have yet to hear back. Now I want all the future customers to know not to trust them with their personal info because they steal information, then dismiss and laugh at your claim as if it is not possible for this to occur and then never contact customers back when this concern is brought to their attention. read more

I cancelled my service for Direct TV back in beginning of June as I no longer needed the service. I sent back my box at the local UPS store as instructed. I then got charged for the month of June out of my checking account when they said I would not be charged anymore. I called in on the 19th and the girl on the phone said she can only credit back the account at the time and could not refund me. I then call on the 25th and I talked to what seemed a very nice lady and she said she could refund me the balance for June on a VISA gift card it would just take twenty one days for a supervisor to approve it and then I should receive it the next day. I called today on August 21st, since I still have not received my gift card in the mail. The girl I talked to on the phone today said that she did not see any record of anyone talking to me on June 25th to give me the refund only on June 19th. The way she said it to like there was nothing wrong with the fact that someone did not do their job. She then said she could not refund me at this time she just saw that there was still a pending case from the June 19th call. She did not seem to care about making an effort to get this fixed. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was put on hold for a long time. She then said she could not connect me because there is so many calls right now they are just doing a list for call backs. I asked if someone would actually call me back today and she said it might not be until tomorrow. I hope they come thru. I have had a bad experience with Century Link in the past over charging and other mistakes, talking to a rep that seems helpful saying they will get something done and I call back and no record of it. I had no issues with Directtv for the last year until 3 ago months I now have three channels fox sports Comedy Central and Hallmark channel those are the only three channels that I get a signal loss from and ITS ONLY DURING PRIME TIME and in Arizona that is between 12 PM noon through 6 AM next day. The channels work fine between 6 AM and 12 noon maybe sometimes through 2 PM and after that all I get is lost signal. To me THAT IS NOT A HARDWARE issue,sounds like a contractual issue THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO?? I called them; they escalated; nothing; three weeks later I called them again they said they would send out a service person it would cost me $99 so I canceled it and I still have lost signal for ONLY THESE THREE STATIONS between PRIME TIME HOURS!! What's going on with that? I'm very unhappy with them when my contract is up in six months I am definitely leaving Directtv. I've been with AT&T for 20+ years and I've always had great service with them. Can't say the same with the DIRECTV customer service. It is a NIGHTMARE! I received a bill that was incorrect so I called them. They were more concerned about trying to cross sell additional products. In order to 'verify' me as their customer they asked for my date of birth, which I gave. They then asked for my Social Security Number, which I refused. Then they asked for my drivers license number! Are you kidding me?? Arizona has the largest number of identity theft in the nation. I ended the call. I called back and asked for a manager. I was then put on hold for almost 30 minutes before I was frustrated enough to hang up. Not a warm and fuzzy feeling.... read more

I just want to let everyone know that my husband and I finally got through to someone here at Direct TV and they took care of our issue with a bill that they were saying we owed. My husband sent them a copy of the receipt of us mailing back the equipment and they removed the charges. We were very upset this even had to be done when it was in their error in the first place and it took so long to get it taken care of. Thanks to Juan in Social Media for all of your help. My husband would like to get Direct TV in our new home now. I hope they contact him with a special offer after all of this that we have gone through. read more

The sales process was pure BS. Services WERE NOT integrated like I was told they were. I had to coordinate install times for every piece of the puzzle. Then the bill came and was MUCH higher than I expected... roll out the fine print and forget what the salesman represented. Then the service itself was marginal but we tolerated it. Now I am moving. We have to move to keep my daughter in the high school she wants to attend. I knew when I signed up for Direct TV that we might have to move. I asked the salesman if the cancel fees would apply if that happened. I was pointedly told no... if we have to move there are no cancel fees. Total crap. I just got off the phone with the guy who rattled off all the truth to me and he really didn't care one bit about my complaint or the snow job their sales team pulls off. I would NEVER RECOMMEND DIRECT TV TO ANYBODY. My experience was trained deception of the client at every stage of the relationship. I don't know how they can stay in business. I think they should honor what I was sold. Waive the cancel fees and be a stand up company. You go to a restaurant with your family and your bill comes to $200. You tell the server they forgot half your food, and that the other half was over cooked. They are super nice but still charge you $200. Instead of reducing your bill to equal the service provided, they give you 14 coupons. One coupon for each of the next 14 months. Combined, these coupons equal the lost meal that you had to pay for anyway. This is how Direct TV works. Direct TV forced us to take new equipment when we moved, even though our old equipment was just fine. They did this most likely because that new equipment came with a 2 year contract. In the first 6 months, all three new boxes failed. All our recorded things were lost, again. (As they had already been lost during the move when we were forced to take new equipment.) So when the boxes failed, and we lost service, we lost our recorded shows, AND still had to pay the full monthly bill. To compensate us for lost service, they gave us $15 off a month for the next 14 months ($210). After all of the issues, my husband calls to cancel and they say sure, we want $320 for the next 16 months of your contract. That's $20/month for 16 months. For service I'm not going to receive. Add to this, we have been customers of Direct TV in multiple states for most of our lives. That doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that our old boxes we wanted to use would be out of contract now, since we have already been with them for the entirety of the last contract. It doesn't matter that they owe us $210 for lost services, which they are only willing to spread out over a long period, in the form of credit. If we cancel, they want it all today, right now. And we lose that credit they owe us. My husband asked nicely to be removed from the contract. He offered to pay the early cancellation fee, minus the $210 they owed us. They would not accept. He spoke to a customer service representative, their supervisor, and their supervisor. All said no can do. Seriously? You are a billion dollar company and you OWE us $210 for services you failed to provide, yet you are refusing to cancel our service without another $320? At the same time, we still have the service, which is now $125 a month! For one level above basic! They gave us free movie channels for 3 months when the main box failed and everything was lost, and then they CHARGED us for the first prorated month! When I asked about it, I was told, if you keep the free channels for the full three months, the prorated amount will be reimbursed at the end. Are you KIDDING ME? At this point, they say our only option is to write a hand written letter to the corporate office, explaining our situation. I would like to expand my audience. And to that effect, I would like to let you know how great NOT having Direct TV is. See, I NEVER watch it. Not once in the last 6 months since we moved in here. And only rarely before, when my mom told me I HAD to record and watch something she liked. My husband and son watch 2 shows, Chicago hockey, and Chicago and Arizona football. That's it. I watch Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with Starz. I pay $8.53/month for Netflix and $7.99/month for Starz on Amazon (Starz is $13.99 a month on Direct TV). Plus the $99/year for Amazon Prime, but I save that just on shipping, so it really doesn't count. We figure, the two shows they watch, which are not available on Netflix or Amazon (without paying extra), are so cheap to buy now that it would cost us less than two months of the cost of Direct TV to purchase all the seasons for both shows. Adding to that, since local sports and big games are on basic TV, for the few games that aren't my husband can run over to the local Chicago themed sports bar for some guy time. And we will save SO MUCH MONEY. Without missing a beat. With a richer life. More options, more mobility, and a LOT LESS of the cost. Because those games were already unavailable to him here. In order for him to see even some of them, Direct TV wanted another $300 for the sports package. ON TOP of the $125/month! So, we are on the way to weeding out these companies in our lives. Reducing the cost and increasing the living. Eliminating the unnecessary expenses that keep us chained to debt and depression. Stepping outside the norm to embrace a better way that makes so much more sense for us. As for Direct TV, we have placed them on a 6 month hold while we write our hand written letter to the corporate office and send it via snail mail as directed by the "highest level supervisor/manager" that the support center could get us on the phone with. That same highest level person told us he could not do anything about the cancellation fee. Not a thing. I guess being the boss doesn't really mean you are the boss. In the end I'm hopeful that they will grant us the cancellation free of charge, or at least reduced to the difference between what they owe us and their cancellation fee amount. I have been with Directv for over 5 years. I recently lost my house to a foreclosure and moved to an apartment. Most of my neighbors have Directv or Dish. When the contractor came out, he spent all of a minute to tell me he couldn't install it. BS. My NEIGHBORS have Directv. I believe he was LAZY and didn't want to do his job. So, not to mention, since they "couldn't" install, I canceled my service and went with Cox. Good choice. Nonetheless, I was told I was sent a refund on October 2nd, in the amount of $31.24. I have yet to receive it. Since Directv merged with AT&T, NONE of their Reps speak English and can tell me where it's at. Today is November 26th.....haven't received my refund. Nor, an apology. They said they sent it to my old house......which, I forwarded my mail to my new apartment. I can't access my account now......AND NOBODY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE SPEAKS *^*^%^$%#%$#%$# ENGLISH!!!!!! Direct TV are thieves. How we let utilities get by with the theft they do to consumers, I'll never know. If anyone ever running for office EVER stepped up with the campaign to FIX the Utilities theft problems they would win for sure. When I called in April I was told that I was such a good customer I qualified for a Free Genie upgrade. We will send out and switch out, how great it is, etc. I'm on fixed income and so I have to have bills fixed/set to work. The first month they charged $19.95 for the ship charges. The next month they charged another $135 plus tax for the "FREE GENIE". Somehow my bill goes from $78/month to $346! I've used no other services. Meanwhile I was never able to figure out how to use it because it was Dead on Arrival. When I called they could care less. I could talk to someone else somewhere about the charge for the genie, etc. By that time I was on the phone for more than an hour. Who has the time to deal with the thieves? We need to have new ways to get TV programming that we all want. Politicians are you listening? Do something that impacts EVERY CONSUMER in the state. I say let's get more serious about the white collar crime all around us. Laws protecting consumers anyone? Class Action Suit? If I pulled one stunt like this to consumers, I'd be out of business. All I can say is that I wish I would have taken time to look at all these bad reviews before signing on the dotted line. On both ends they lied. The salesman at the onset said I had a month to consider the service then continue if i liked it. He said no questions asked. Boy was I duped. They told me I had to pay the entire year if I wanted to disconnect it. I appealed to ATT asked for help. Requested they look at my records. 3months of conversations. Finally they sent me to collections. Collections said just pay half and it will be resolved. They called me three months later and said I owed the outstanding balance. I said, "you guys already collected". They told me there was no record therefore it was my responsibility. I asked if they kept records. They told me they are a different collection agency and to call ATT. I did. They had no records or way to get a hold of the original collection agency. They dinged my credit so I paid the remaining amount and will gladly tell anyone who is interested why I will not do business with these inflexible liars. After 10 years as a Direct TV customer, we decided to try to unplug to see how things went. Called Direct TV and was told that since we had recently added another satellite box for my garage man-cave, that automatically renewed us for another 2 YEARS!!! What a bunch of BS. I'm returning my equipment and lowering my plan as low as possible but will still be paying over $30.00 a month for the next 2 years for NOTHING!! My Name is Shawn J. and would like the opportunity to share a recent experience with you and if our friends at Direct TV have any respect at all for their consumers and their experiences they will choose to leave this post up for all of you to review :-) Feb 2014 I moved into my new home in Phoenix AZ and was currently using COX cable without any major issues when Direct TV solicited me their service. They offered me a very reasonable price for the package however their infamous NFL Ticket was not offered as described in the printed and online offers? Apparently they have a "loop hole" in their contract that says if you were a customer less then 2 years ago you do not qualify for the new advertised deals? I was literally ONE MONTH away from being over 2 years ago. So in that case they agreed to the new deal service with me verbally and included the NFL Ticket as well because it was so close. So that is great right? Way to go Direct TV and keeping a customer and doing the right thing? NO it was not because now here today (09/02/2014) I called in to Direct TV to discuss a programming issue where I have a hand full of channels that seemingly appear and disappear on their own? IE; WGN, Destination Network, NatGeo, LOGO and so on... I was getting these channels on and off over several months? Today they told me it was not possible to get channels like that but yet I have proof that shows those channels clearly recorded in my DVR so, how is that possible then Direct TV?? Then while I was there I thought I would verify my NFL Ticket as the season is almost upon us and guess what?? That's right NO NFL Ticket folks. They claim it was never part of my agreement and it was never discussed?? I had a verbal agreement on several occasions in which one of them I was able to voice record yet they still stand behind their idea that it was never discussed as of part of the original agreement. Further more the man they have in customer service "Trey" is more then not helpful folks. As a matter of fact his condescending attitude towards you "the customer" will drive you nuts! BOTTOM LINE.. Terrible customer service Direct TV and shame on you for "lying" to a customer to get them out of their current provider and sign with you. After having been a DTV customer for 12 years, I needed to cancel my account as I am having a major surgery and will need to be in a rehabilitation facility and a long term care for some time. You would think that canceling my account, which is in good standing and always has been, would be a simple call, NO WAY. After being put on a lengthy hold, a cancellation specialist finally answered and informed me that I would be charged a $260.00 CANCELLATION FEE! When I informed her of my 12 years of service with DTV, she informed me that "Every time you get new or upgraded equipment, you are signing a NEW 2 YEAR LEASE. ????? Last year I moved and when the installers came to move my service, they informed me that my equipment was "old and no longer viable" and advised that I MUST get replacement equipment as they COULD NOT install my service with the old receivers. As I didn't believe them, I called DTV while they were there and talked to a manager who , after speaking with the installers, confirmed that I needed new equipment.THey quoted a price of over $600.00, including the installation (so much for "FREE MOVING" promise) for 2 receivers (yes 2) and my apartment was already fully pre-wired for Direct TV. I had paid for DTV protection plan for 12 years and assumed it would be covered. Long story short, It took over 10 hours (no exaggeration) of phone calls in the following weeks to get the insurance to cover $200.00 of the $600.00 installation bill AND they insisted on a "$100.00 credit and $10.00 off a month for 10 months" method of payment. What kind of insurance is that? According to the CSR, that situation constituted "Upgrading Equipment" and I had agreed to a new 2 year lease at that time. I argued with her and her supervisor for an hour. I finally asked for a manager and after yet another lengthy hold, was told that they would "credit my account for the early termination fee due to the circumstances". There NEVER should have been any fee to begin with. So DTV is now telling us that every time their equipment malfunctions and they have to replace it that a new 2 year contract goes into effect. How do you ever complete a contract if their equipment needs to be replaced every 18 months??? WHY am I having to sign a 2 year contract when I'm not receiving discounted programming or free installation and equipment?? Why in 48 states do you HAVE to provide them with your credit card number and allow them to apply any charges they decide to impose??? Yet another strong arm tactic/threat to get you to stay with them.. This is evidence that DTV KNOWS its customers are so unhappy that they want to jump ship ( see any of the more than 50,000 poor reviews of DTV available at top review sites) and this is their way of forcing you to stay. Any company that has to trick you into lengthy contracts and force you to stay with them is simply NFG. PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THEIR SLICK ADVERTISING. STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

Terrible customer service!! Appointment with a 4 hour window, so had to wait at home for 4 hours. No show & NO CALL. Called them and by the time we got through, office was closed. Customer service was terrible. Agent said not enuf techs. Then they should have called to reschedule. Earlier in the day, received a message that tech was coming. First off, let me say that I have NEVER had a worst customer service experience that with your company. It all began last Thursday (8/8/13) when my cable went out and was giving me service error 775. I work full-time during the week so I did not have time to call and deal with the issue until Sunday afternoon. Sunday afternoon I call your service help number. I spent three hours on the phone with different departments trying to trouble shoot the issue. Once they realized it was a problem with the satellite and a tech would have to be sent out they told me to call a different number. I hung up and dialed the new number; 1-877 -288-2888. When I called this number I got a message saying the offices are closed. This was around 4 PM on Sunday MST. "Great, now I have to deal with this during the work week," I thought. Monday morning bright and early I call into to Direct TV to get a tech ordered. After being on hold for an hour and half I finally got through to someone. First he informed me that the offices are open Monday and the phones were having technical issues because he had heard that from several other people. You are a technology supplier and you don't even have phones that work? Wow. Anyways, he asked me all the same questions that I spent three hours the previous day answering and he kept saying it was issue 771, which is incorrect. May 21st, not even 90 days previously I have to have a tech come out for code 771. Now this is code 775. Direct TV can't even go three months without their faulty systems going out! Next, I was transferred to his supervisor named Chad (ID #SCGS), when once again I had to tell this whole story and issue. Can you please have your employees inform the person they transfer you to what is going on so the customer does not sound like a broken record? Also, make notes of all conversations on the account! Chad told me he would place another order for a new tech to come out later this week. When I informed him that I could no longer wait for a tech or waste anymore of my time and that I wanted to cancel my account he said he totally understood. He took a look at my account and noticed that certain packages, including NFL network were charged to my account. I did not authorize any of those updates and I do not want them! You as a company cannot just charge people's accounts for items they do not order! He refunded those to me, and I pray to god that in the past year I have not been paying for extras that I did not order. This is the shadiest company I have ever dealt with! Chad said because of all of these issues and how infuriated I was that he would cancel my account with no fees associated. He had to transfer me (YET AGAIN!) to an accounts payable representative to actually cancel the account. He transferred me to Gina in the Tennessee office. I honestly thought things could not get worst, but oh boy was I wrong. Gina was so rude and gave me so much attitude. She informed me it would be over $250 to cancel my account. When I informed her what Chad has said, who transferred me to her and was on the line at the start of the call, she didn't care. I was transferred to Casey (ID# TRG56833) her supervisor. If it's even possible to have a more rude and obnoxious employee, Casey was in fact just that. She spoke over me and was rude and didn't even care what I had to say. At one point she said she was just going to hang up. Is this how you treat all your customers who pay $150 a month for pictures in a box? I was flabbergasted! After speaking with her for well over 30 minutes I had to do anything I could to get away from this company. I want the charge for my cancelled account removed and I never want to hear from Direct TV again. I will tell all my friends and family to never get service with you. At this point in time it would be more productive and entertaining to watch paint dry on walls. On an almost daily basis (multiple times a day) I receive a message on my TV that says the signal was lost and the TV freezes anywhere from a few minutes to hours...It's a waste of money time and effort to continue to deal with it, and I don't even personally pay for the service....I suggest searching for an alternative to this company they are nothing but disappointment. I rate them at ZERO stars it's pathetic you have to give them something they don't deserve when you get nothing in return. read more

DirecTV are liars. They use the old bait and switch and then they bamboozle you. It's a good thing that I took explicit notes while signing up. They told me it was a one-year contract and quoted me an exact price. They never told me that my internet was with another company. I didn't find out until the DirecTV installer was at my house and he told me that he wasn't installing my internet (and that someone else would have to come out and there would be an added installation cost). I spent hours on the phone being transferred from one department to the next. I cancelled my service on the spot while the installer was at my home. I asked them to take back all of the equipment and remove the dish from my roof. He left without taking anything. I could go on and on, but I won't. It was a terrible experience. I would give NO stars if I could. I wanted to switch to another service for TV and internet only, thinking it would save me some money. I spent over 30 minutes listening to someone reading from a script (making it clear that, If I stopped him, he would be lost in the pitch). It was going well until he brought up that the internet would be provided by a company that required autopay or more money. I told him to cancel the whole thing and hung up. He called me back, supposedly not understanding why I was cancelling the whole thing. I told him to cancel again and hung up. This was not saving my that much anyway. Just signed a 2 year contract and am not happy I was told I would get 1 month free of repair service if i signed up, then i could cancel. I checked my bill and they were charging me for it anyway, so i cancelled. I signed up for auto pay to save $5 per month. It was fine the first month, then they cancelled it for some reason without telling me. I called to make sure it was still set up because i received a letter in the mail with a price change. I was told auto pay was still set up and i would receive the discount. Then 2 days later i receive my bill by email and did not get the discount. I had to call again to try to get it figured out. I was told it was cancelled and then reapplied, that i would owe the extra money. I asked who cancelled it since i am the only person on the account but nobody could tell me. Then i was told the promotion ended. What a nightmare, only had it for 6 weeks and i have been locked out of my account online everytime i try to log in and have had to call them 9 times to get things straightened out. Here is the series of unfolding events. 1) Bill arrives today from DirecTV for a place I haven't lived in for 3 months. 2) I live in a place where DirecTV is included as part of your lease, and one does not have to deal with DirecTV. Someone does everything for you, a nice perk. 3) I connected with the service about this bill and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I must call DirecTV myself. Strike 1. 4) Call DirecTV. 15 minutes on the phone with someone who was well trained in the script but had NO idea what I was talking about. Issue is simple. I moved out 3 months ago from one apartment, service was cancelled; however I keep receiving bills. Can we get this fixed? After 15 agonizing minutes transferred to someone else. - Strike 2 5) Next DirecTV person. Explain the story again. Live in a development that includes DirecTV service with your lease receivers are in the apartments when you arrive. There should be no DirecTV bill unless you have extra receivers or ordered additional packages. I had one receiver and the package offered with the development. I moved out of the apartment 3 months ago, however I keep on getting bills, 1) for a service that is complimentary with my lease and 2) for a service that was disconnected 3 months ago. Can this be fixed? The kicker comes when the person tells me she can't cancel my service and that she needs to bill me for a receiver I never returned. I explain patiently that when you move out the development insures that receivers and remotes are left in the apartment or you will be charged a replacement fee. There is a letter, email etc... about it. The woman on the phone tells me "I understand sir, however you didn't return the receiver so I am going to have to charge you a fee!" OK what on earth does this person not understand? I am speaking plain and simple English! I explain a 3rd time and ask to speak to a supervisor. She tells me she is going to speak to a supervisor herself. I am on hold for 25 minutes after which she comes back "I spoke with my supervisor and since you didn't return the receiver we are going to have to bill you!" I flip and share with her for the 4th time what the policy is in our development and that I need to speak with her supervisor because she does not seem to understand what I am explaining in the simplest of terms. Back on hold for 15 minutes, waiting for a supervisor. Supervisor never comes on the line. She comes back and tells me that all is taken care of and the old fees and loss of receiver fee is not billed and the service is cancelled. I confirm with to insure that there is no service at the old address and that my current residence still has service. She confirms that this is indeed correct 6) I turn my TV on in my living room in my current residence and low and behold, there is no longer service. My service was disconnected. - Strike who cares anymore. 7) Shared my frustration with the development and the service company who jump in again, which they should have done the first time. 8) Two phone calls later I am told that my DirecTV service at my old address was cancelled the day after I moved out three months; however DirecTV kept billing me for a service, the kicker they also started billing me for Showtime which I never ordered. Service company promised to help get my current DirecTV up and running again tonight. 9) An hour later I receive a call from a DirecTV sales person who shares " I noticed you recently cancelled your account with us, we would love to have you back as a customer. We have great deals to get you back on board!" Honestly you are kidding me right, how messed up are you as a company? 10) The service provider called again and stated that he had been on the phone with DirecTV for an hour and a half to get the current account reactivated and no one could help him. He would have to wait for his supervisor to escalate this with DirecTV in the morning. In the meantime no TV. DirecTV you are an abysmal example of a company and service. No wonder you are one of the most hated companies in the US. I have spend more time dealing with this issue today than I watch TV on a weekly basis. Companies like you are the reason we move away from cable and satellite and get our media in other ways. I can only add my voice to the chorus of people out there who call you out on your appalling service record in the hope that perhaps one day you will see the light or go out of business because people are done taking it up the behind from mediocre companies like DirecTV. read more

I cannot wait until my subscription to DircTV is up. I got sucked into a bundle and the end stage pricing was more expensive than what I was paying Cox. I never had service outages with Cox, never in 15 years and just the past month, I've had 3 with DirecTV puke. Bundling with Century link was a mistake, the internet speed is so much slower than Cox. Poor system quality, no caller ID. They do software updates and take away various options. You call and get the Philippines, asked to be transferred to USA, you need to give same ID information to who ever answered phone. This happened to me 5 times today, they have no way of transferring you information to another department. AT&T has effected Direct TV quality. read more

Stay away from DIRECTV and AT&T!!! I was a long time DIRECTV customer but when the vultures at AT&T took it over it went down hill fast. As a result of the shabby treatment from DIRECTV when cancelling my account because I was moving to a place that didn't allow satellite dishes, I am now cancelling my AT&T wireless family account as well. Do not get direct tv. We were long time dish network customers. We were happy with it but when we moved, we were lured away by the new customer "deals". They charged us literally twice what they agreed to. Then we got charged for two months for premium channels that we did not want (had to cancel them three times). The service itself is inferior to dish network. The satellite itself just broke and upon hearing that they would charge us 49 for the guy to come out plus the cost of any repairs I had enough. Cancelled the contract and have dish network here now installing their service. Please, please, please save yourself a lot of money and irritation and do not go with direct tv. read more

I have had Direct TV since 1999. I called in January of 2018 to remove 2 of my 6 boxes off my bill. I called every few months to make sure they were removed and I was only paying for 4 boxes, they always said yes. I called yesterday to have the 2 boxes put back in, and there system shows I still have 6 !!! I've been paying for 1 yrs and 8 months for 2 boxes I don't have !! Per there office they don't have any notes about removing the boxes. Of course they don't, I would not need them to install 2 new boxes if I still had 6 hooked up. They want 2 give me 2 months compensation!! What a joke !! read more

I would give ZERO or negative 10. Wow this company is horrible. They cancelled my service 3 times (human error) before it was even installed. I thought I was losing my mind. Day of install they never showed I called they say we tried to call you to verify the account and could not reach you so your account was put on hold. THEN THIS IS THE KICKER while trying to verify ( rudest lady I ever heard on the phone) She tells me someone is reading me this information and they have red flags it's not me wtf states I would have to send in my social and ID. I asked to speak to the manger and could hear them making fun of me in the back by this point I said refund my money I no longer want the service haha she states a have to call another number for that. Worst customer service ever. I've been calling for months. On demand doesn't work. I called complained they blamed it on my internet. I now pay an extra 40& a month to Up my internet. Called today they now say on demand doesn't work for most. Not their problem. It's a feature isn't guaranteed. I'm so over the worse customer service. Disappointed. Direct TV is a complete scam! They charge you for services not needed or asked for by simply sending a email to notify you of service changes. I called to try to talk to a supervisor and the gentleman on the phone said there was no one above him and he would not help me out. I for one will NEVER deal with directtv again! They are completely misleading signing you up through Centurylink). They give you all this mumbo jumbo language that no one understands in an effort to just confuse you and sign you up for things you do not need. When I signed up for service I was never told about a $90 fee to move service to a new address because I was a customer with them less than 12 months. I had my service suspended and it automatically started billing again without any notice and I was not even getting the service!!! When I call to remedy the situation they still try to charge the $90 fee. Once I tolod them that I could not pay that and to cancel my service they want to now charge me $400 for an early cancellation fee I am so dissapointed with there service I agreed to pay the $400 just so I will never have to deal with them again! These jokers lied about channels and then cancelled channels that they decided to move to premium, that's ethical. This is corporate greed at its finest. I had three different times that I took off work and they did not show up. On top of that, I went to put the same service on another rental and had to spend over 4 hrs. Completely disappointed, transferring from Washington to arizona with our dtv and century link bundle has been a nightmare. After over 3 hours in they phone today, but to mention the 3 prior called made, still no resolution. The supervisor at dtv, Kevin, was least helpful, if I had to guess he had me on mute doing other things while I was addressing my concern, after I stopped talking there was compete silence, I said Kevin are you there, he obviously pushed a button because I could again hear background noise, his response was yeah. read more

Salesman misrepresented their channel lineup on phone so I would sign up. Upon discovering during installation, I canceled the service on the first day. All equipment pulled and shipped back at no cost. A real pain. Their package costs are grossly understated. Two stars because they canceled with little argument knowing they screwed up. read more

So I come home from a nice lunch out with my mom to find a DirectTV truck parked in my assigned parking spot in my apartment complex. Called the number on the back of the truck and they said they "couldn't get ahold of that office" (yeah, right). Judging by their complete disregard for other people (seriously, EVERY apartment complex has assigned covered parking for their residents. This fool isn't paying my rent, but he thinks he has rights to my stuff), how can one be confident in their respect for their customers?
